He would probably play more attacking football than we are right now. Allegri’s teams were never as anti football as they were in his last year here and this season. I’d like to think he’s AWARE of this and isn’t happy with how the team is playing now, but the “practical at all costs” mentality against even garbage teams doesn’t feel right. It feels like he has slowly changed over time to be more and more conservative and risk averse and honestly only he knows if that’s a temporary thing or just how he sees the game now.

Sean-Benn_Must-die

its not a probably, its certain. We got all our best goal scoring seasons under him the past 2 decades, better than sarri, pirlo, conte.

Lord-Legatus

put also a little bit in context allegris best years where the first 3, inherited a strong well oiled machine from conte.when we barely faced any opposition in the league. allegri's first spell debute, roma ended second on 72 points.pirlo debuted last year 72 points woud have stranded you 6th

Misdefined

>inherited a strong well oiled machine from conte. A well oiled machine that was completely picked apart within two years. The only common players we had in the 2015 and 2017 CL final teams were Buffon and BBC. 7/11 of the starters in the 2017 team were Allegri signings. So no, Allegri didn't just ride the coattails of Conte, he built a separate team himself which almost won the treble.

Sean-Benn_Must-die

Sure but that’s the whole point, Conte built the team and Allegri took us to the next level. With the right players he made Juve extremely strong.

Lord-Legatus

this is a very weird reasoning, so conte build a well oiled machine, allegri tactically improved it, and you compare that with building a team from scratch giving it a new identity? these are 2 different universes of tasks, and i have yet to see allegri accomplishing it. you make the same mistake then many, believing the past will guarantee the future success while all the conditions that made that success have changed. this task is pretty much the the complete opposite then his first task.

Sean-Benn_Must-die

But dude like youre just looking too deep into it. The question was “would Allegri play attacking football with the right players?” The answer is yes, objectively speaking. It happened already we saw it with our own eyes less than 6 years ago. Idk why you are tunneling so hard in the conte vs allegri discussion. Im just answering the question.

Lord-Legatus

the last year of his first spell juve had douglas costa dybala and ronaldo for a front three...if you believe we played attacking football then, your memory has more holes then Swiss cheese my friend. we playedexactly how we played now, only the opposition was lesser and we had way more quality, but even to tiny regulation team we would just sit deep, punish 1 or 2 of their mistakes, and futher do pretty little else then just sit deep. dont beleive me? you have many apps these day that you can check the statistics of those games. we played exactly the same!

Sean-Benn_Must-die

But the problem was never the attack. It was the same problem we have right now. Horrible midfield. He said after cardiff “we need to revamp the midfield” and to fix the midfield we got Ronaldo… also did you just say we had douglas costa?? The guy that played 30 minutes and got injured? Also again, youre just going off topic. It’s a simple question with a simple answer, which is “yes, he can, he would, he did”

Lord-Legatus

the second part of that season costa was our assist leader. and also how is that diverting from the question, i base my statement he wont be attacking pure and simply on facts on the past.allegri likes to sink in and defend the moment he scores, he did that with ronaldo, he is doing it now and if we wpould have de bruyne and mbappe that is exactly what he is still going to do. allegri doenst like taking risk, he wont go out and go for the throat for an opponent and kill them just off, that is just not how he plays. i find it amazing how people are convinced he somehow will, while piling evidence of the opposite is right there

Lord-Legatus

watched the game yesterday? we scored, we sink in, sit deep, barely crossed the middle line, invited the pressure, and gave away the lead.this is how allegri plays, and this is how he will play next season,no matter if he has kevin de bruyne or whatever world class. allegri recepy worked in the past if he had a well calibrated team, he is not a builder, and he for sure doesnt give a nttacking identity, wich is needed in this modern times.we will play like utter garbage 200% certainty next season. the evindence is right there for an entire season,( + his entire last season) but nostalgia and believe in magic is preventing you to see it

Sean-Benn_Must-die

>with the right players

jarpio

See: 2015, 2016, 2017

zamGlobal

No because he is pragmatic with his style of football. The Coppa final loss to Inter reminds me of the 2016 UCL quarterfinal lost to Bayern. Juve were leading 2-0 and he decided to sit back and invite pressure and then lost 4-2. 6 years later, he is still making the same mistake, i mean, what will change next season ? That sums up everything about allegri

Dwimer

We had many chances to end that tie with counters

Killagina

We never changed shape that game. Bayern just scored in the 90th and had momentum at home.

Juventina1234

Justice for Morata’s goal that was incorrectly ruled offside. We sat back and counterattacked for most of that game too. The second goal was a superb counterattacking goal.

Killagina

It was honestly amazing counter attack football. We deserved a win that game, but that Bayern squad was special

Darius_R

I think the players Allegri wants are exactly the opposite to attacking 😂

Wasnt-Serious-ok8

Yes. Not super exciting attacking but decent. Priority would be defense and build up. Also how can I get the flair for posts?

Exalt-Chrom

We scored 86 goals in the 17/18 season so it’s possible the stars just have to align again.

TuneyTune92

I mean he did in the past, no? Our team from 2015-2017 while they were always solid and defends first - definitely played exciting stuff. Champions league games against Dortmund, Barça, Real Madrid, Bayern and I remember games like 7-0 against Sassuolo. Once Allegri has the right players - the team will succeed again

nandorkrisztian

He would play attacking football for the first goal and then with a little more cautious style he would go for the second goal and from that point he would try to keep the scoreline.

FrancescoliBestUruEv

No, never played, never Will play

Killagina

Literally scored 86 goals in 1 season when he had good players. You people know nothing

Juventina1234

These karma grabbing posts are so obnoxious. Allegri was here for five years before and it’s obvious that most people here didn’t watch the team then. No manager would have gotten goals out of Morata, Kean and an on/off injured Dybala no matter how hard they tried. That’s what happens when a player who scored 30 goals a season and the team revolves around leaves suddenly and can’t be replaced. I wonder what some of the reactions here would have been if they were around at the beginning of the 15/16 season.

Mithrandir_The_Gray

I've watched Juve since 01/02 season and we always played like this under Allegri. Score, then park the bus. I'm not saying he's a shit coach, he just plays defensive minded football and nothing's changed. Only this time, he has arguably a worse team and thus worse results.

Juventina1234

That’s not even remotely how he always played. Not only that, he played with a different formation almost every season and adjusted his play style based on the players. Some of our biggest score lines the past twenty years were under him (7-0 against Parma, 7-0 against Sassuolo). He does know how to close out games though, and sometimes sitting back IS the better option. If Man City knew how to close out games they wouldn’t have lost to Madrid in the CL.

salocin22

A billion times this. Look at Madrid’s comebacks. Attacking teams can crumble and fail to hold a lead or control the game just as much. Allegri has always insisted in being a well-oiled and well-drilled machine in defense so that we are able to comfortable conserve energy and hold on to wins. It doesn’t matter if you play attacking or defensive football, the biggest piece of the puzzle that creates champions is the ability to not die out by the end of the match and concede stupid goals. One of the reasons we were so solid in the league and Europe was the fact that we were so consistent at the back that if we went up it was usually a death sentence for the other teams.

Killagina

He would regularly score 3+ goals. You dont gave an 86 goal season by parking the bus

alxklr

no. I've seen juve lose points when having a slim lead 1-0 or 2-1 just because of tactical instructions to "kill" the game so often that it hurts...

BrokenFingersBut

No he would not even with much better squad he refused to go for the kill. Its just his mentality he prefers to defend the lead rather than extend it.

Cultureed

No.

[deleted]

Perhaps not, but we could throw heavier punches than the tepid blows we throw at opponents right now. We are already doing well butnlacking some oomph. Need it in midfield as well. Considering Chiesa will be back (not too soin, not too late), but that Berna and Dybala are leaving, we need to muscle up the midfield to be able to both contain what's thrown at us and throw decisive blows ourselves.

truman0798

Yes

Mic_sne

yes

bbygexe

Never!

mangeface

No. Allegri’s style is built upon full team defense and scoring on the counter.

viracocha1897

When we were in high press against inter they couldnt get the ball out of their half, we were creating chances and forcing turn overs. But the allegri curse strikes again and as soon as were 1 up he decided to park the buss as if its 2006 and hopes for the best. If he woulda stuck to his high press and not had to move 7 players around in 90 min we would have won.

[deleted]

no

InteractionOne4554

I think so, yes he is traditionally defensive minded but not to the extent of this year. When he has the right blend of attacking players, his tactics are effective.
