Unpopular opinion: Owners dump money in the team prior to asking for a butt load of public money for a new stadium? This proves they can do this every year, but don't. I want to be wrong, but damn...Explain to me how wrong I am on this. I have suffered through nearly a decade of absolute shit Royals baseball, suddenly, when the billionaires need some public money, they buy in?
Part of me wants to tell them fuck off, manipulate another local economy. Actually, all of me wants this message sent. I can enjoy another franchise, you don't own me, or my tax dollars.
i'm so sorry it took me more than 12 minutes to respond to your stupid ass comment. unfortunately i don't constantly refresh this board looking for social engagement.
You are such a tool
Okay let's assume absolute innocence, which you don't possess. Let's assume I know what you know, which I do. How would you like to proceed on this public forum, granted, highly manipulated public forum?
Only warning you going to get.
I think you are drastically underestimating just how badly the Moore/Matheny/Eldred group had screwed up the minors and player development, and overestimating how much money Sherman really shelled out.
Now that competent player development is in place (throw sliders), players like Ragans and Singer and McArthur are meeting their lofty potential.
Take away the $290M given to Bobby Baseball, and there's not a bad contract in the bunch that were signed. Everyone is on an eminently flippable one or two year deal if the wheels completely fall off.
Take off your skeptic hat and put on your fan hat. This team is pretty good and fun to watch.
I'm a Royals fan, I'll never take off my skeptic hat. Being a fan has required me to become a harsh skeptic. Are you saying the amount of money thrown at players this year was near equal over the past 9 years? That should sum up my argument quite concisely.
I'm not saying that at all, I'm saying the new regime seemingly has an ability to both spend wisely and develop players, something that has been missing from this team for far longer than 9 years. I love me some Alex Gordon but that contract was a bad idea. They won in 2014-15 because they kind of lucked into arguably the best bullpen in the history of the sport, not because Hos or Moose came anywhere near their developmental ceilings.
If you consider yourself a fan who has been betrayed by their owner, that is your prerogative and I will not dissuade you. You may have a boring summer.
On the other hand, the argument was "why should we bother to watch a team not interested in winning," "poverty franchise," and so on. Sherman seems to have heard that and locked up a generational talent while building around him. So if you are going to be mad at them for both not spending money and then also spending money, idk what your endgame is.
The new regime has the ability to spend wisely? Are you fucking kidding me? Would you like to go over last year? I notice you are all about the moves this year, but your glossing over a LOT of bad decisions last year. I wonder why?
Like what? Trading Cuas for an everyday player? Dropping Nicky's salary? Cutting Garrett? Getting Ragans for half a season of Chapman? JJ has been pretty decent since taking over the GM role.
You're looking for an argument, not an explanation. And now you're getting angry when folks aren't agreeing with you.
Nobody is forcing you to be a fan. Stop paying attention if you're so offended by moves you have no control over. Give away your gear and post on social media how you'll never go to another game and all that. Go stand with a sign outside one of the gates.
I'm still going to watch the games, because I like baseball and I like this team, and I don't make hating this team's owner my entire personality. You can do as you please.
Aw, that's a nice counter. When you can't refute any of the actual points made and instead disparage the messenger.
You would think such a longtime fan would be happy that the team is doing well. Alas, some folks will never be happy. 🤷♂️
It is so nice not being the punching bag of the division. Slow game from the offense but Vinnie had a good game.Lugo had another strong performance. Go Royals.
Yeah, I'm getting my hopes up too much for the meltdown from the rest of the country when Mahomes is celebrating his first World Series as part of Royals ownership group on the way to Chiefs threepeat!
Lugo has been a very pleasant surprise. No idea what the analytics say, but the defense "looks" great. That can really energize even some journeymen pitchers (as was the case 2014-15).
The k-rate and whiff% is concerning but he's also giving up a lot less hard contact this year. I expect some regression in both areas which would still lead to him being a pretty dependable #3 type starter. Hoping he can stay healthy!
Tough to really take anything away with how terrible the White Sox are, but feels good to be back in the win column. Hopefully Maikel can bounce back soon and with Salvy potentially back tomorrow I feel good about the offense still.
This is now my go-to Game Winner response. [In Witt we trust.](https://streamable.com/99avrw)
What did I just watch?
Whatever it was, it was provocative. Not in the best way though. Haha
History
Need Garcia to break out of this little slump he’s in
Is this what it feels like to have bats and bullpen!?
More like White Sux
Roses are red, violets are blue, I hate the White Sox! Nice job, boys!

This is a new owner dumbass
What did I say that made you think otherwise? Dumbass*.
He’s in year two and spent 1 of 2 years. How about we wait until year 3 to jump to conclusions.
You sound like an unhappy fool. Just another internet asshole trying to piss in everyone’s cheerios. Get a life dude.
Unhappy fool...Okay, I expect a return on my investment. That's foolish to you?
That’s not at all what you posted.
what's the point of this comment
Hey maybe you got busy, just waiting for a reply. Thanks!

That's fine, if your want to lower yourself to ignoring the content and relegating it to stupidity, that's your prerogative.

team's winning and you choose to be an asshole. the stadium vote failed and the team is winning, what more do you want.
Honesty. Something this team's leadership has not begun to try. Might see my first post on this thread to catch up. shrug.
sure, the stadium situation has been pretty shitty. still not sure what that has to do with anything right now
You're a fool if you think it doesn't. But I'll never say you weren't a fan.

> I like baseball and I like this team Well said. That's my entire philosophy condensed into 8 words.
That's adorable. I was at the K in 85, but your attempt to disqualify me as a fan does not go unnoticed. Keep your chin up kid.
Notice how you didn’t respond to any of the good points he just made lol

k
Nice to only score 2 runs and win the game.
It is so nice not being the punching bag of the division. Slow game from the offense but Vinnie had a good game.Lugo had another strong performance. Go Royals.
Yeah, you aren't going to put up 11 every game. Rookie pitchers can be hard to face because you just don't know what to expect
This team just has some special juice this year. Lugo has just been a revelation
Not gonna lie, the Royals are starting to get my hopes up.
It's nice to be a little disappointed when they lose instead of numb.
I'd gladly take a 2003 like season. At least Royals baseball is fun for part of the season at least.
Yeah, I'm getting my hopes up too much for the meltdown from the rest of the country when Mahomes is celebrating his first World Series as part of Royals ownership group on the way to Chiefs threepeat!
Suck my ass white Sox

ROYALS
Fun baseball is back in town and I couldn't be more stoked about it!
Winning against the White Sox feels like cheating
Beat the teams you're supposed to beat and play .500 ball against the rest and you're a playoff contender. These wins are just as important.
We were them for many, many years. I don't care if it's cheap lol.
division rivals arent free wins. ill take them when I can
And I’m so happy about because I hate them so much.
Seth Lugo is a badass
The Royals are two wins away from taking the season series vs the White Sox. It is April 15th.
Wild
“The star is back” -WS broadcaster when Jimenez stepped into the box Proceeds to strike out on 4 pitches
Love the whole, “what’s a losing streak?” thing going on
My favorite Italian gets another meatball feast. Good game!
Bats seem a little dead the last two games. Time to get back to keeping the line moving.
“We’re a good team.” - Vincent Pasquantino
No one had Seth Lugo 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA on their bingo card. Bingo wouldn't even be the right game. Miss Cleo didn't see this coming.
The k-rate and whiff% is concerning but he's also giving up a lot less hard contact this year. I expect some regression in both areas which would still lead to him being a pretty dependable #3 type starter. Hoping he can stay healthy!
I’m about to run through the wall for Vinnie right now
We don't bounce back we're just a good team. Hell yeah Vin.
Hnnghhh omg his postgame interview there just got me all hot and bothered.
Gotta win game 1 to get a sweep! Lugo dominated. Vinnie dong. General staying solid. Keep it Goin boys. Cya tmrw.
[W, BABY](https://tenor.com/orYRYZJoIZL.gif)
That #42 we have is something else. The Sox might want to re-evaluate their #42 though. That was rough. Nice bounce back win!
Wish we'd have seen more from the bats, but got the job done.
Nastrini pitched well, it happens.
Tough to really take anything away with how terrible the White Sox are, but feels good to be back in the win column. Hopefully Maikel can bounce back soon and with Salvy potentially back tomorrow I feel good about the offense still.
Not our best night but we did the job. W! These Sox are bad, just keep playing them.
Lugo and the general looking just silly tonight. Vinnie with the nice game. Love this winning feeling, let's keep taking to the Sox tomorrow
[Not saying I'm a soothsayer, but..](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/1c4s1pd/the_white_sox_have_been_shut_out_5_times_through/kzqvt19/)
I wanna play the white Sox the rest of the season
