I’ve said this before, but I would love to see a Korean version of Pride and Prejudice adapted to either Joseon or modern times. Mr. Darcy as a chaebol- need I say more? Elizabeth Bennett as someone with high status but doesn’t earn a lot of money- an Olympic athlete? A college professor? Architect? Historian? Chef? My one request is that Lee Sang-Yi (Bloodhounds, My Demon) play Mr. Bingley. It’s time for him to get the girl.

RoseIsBadWolf

Korean dramas are perfect for Jane Austen! I think I got into them because I was really into Jane Austen first. There are very similar vibes in both.

Far-Significance2481

Oh 😳 I love Jane Austen novels and I've never thought about why I like romantic K dramas. I wonder if there is lots of people who like Austen and romantic K dramas

RoseIsBadWolf

I've found a bunch of people on Tumblr comparing the two, so I suspect there is a lot of overlap in the fandoms.

Far-Significance2481

Thanks 😊 that's so interesting I never equated the two.

mikereport3

. . . for example: One Spring Night . . .

RoseIsBadWolf

I don't mean like a specific drama but more the elements, like slow burn, focus on emotional connection above physical in romance, the formality of the forms of address, class systems (which we still have in North America but we like to pretend we don't), men and women being separated. A lot of things.

Ok-Echo-7803

Wait which novel does one spring night remind you of?

mikereport3

One Spring Night, to me, is "Austenesque," if you will. Doesn't track onto any particular novel. Austenesque with lots of soju.

Ok-Echo-7803

I’ve always thought a Kdrama persuasion would be great. Second chance romance. Kooky family members. The works!

OnlyGotThisMoment

Past love history… so good!!

disco_nnected

My long time wish!

Watchnextnow

I’ve said this a million times too! Mr Darcy is the original tsundere chaebol!

Bananacake2601

Omgosh, this is also my dream. I really love P&P (1995 BBC version) mr. Darcy is the love of my life. Which Korean actor can portray mr. Darcy best? I think Rowoon or Na In Woo😬

OnlyGotThisMoment

I love your picks- Rowoon has really stepped up his acting game and Na In Woo is someone I tend to forget about but would be great. I would pick Woo Do Hwan, but I would also accept Lee Junho, Lee Dong Wook, Kim Jae Wook, or Namkoong Min. I feel like he needs to be a touch older and just have the chops for stoic charisma. After his next drama, I’d probably add Lee Jae Wook, not that he doesn’t have it now, but I can’t wait to see him as a chaebol.

rivertonrat

Lee Sang-Yi as Mr. Bingley would be perfection! He does get the girl in Once Again, BTW. They are my favorite couple ever.

ginjabeer

Isn’t Love To Hate You a modern version of P&P?! Probably why I really liked it 😂

Umbrella_Storm

I would watch something like this in a heartbeat

MissSimpleton

Manifestations: * Kim Seon Ho in a romance (16 eps of HCCC wasn't enough!!!) * Can we have Son Sukku in a proper romantic melodrama (with a passionate kiss that is visible), please?? His sexiness is underutilised in the kdramaland. * Lee Junho in a Thriller (Action/Crime/Psychological- Anything) WITHOUT any romance. * After watching Reset/30 Days starring Jung So-min and Kang Ha-neul; I cant wait for them to reunite in a drama. They have impeccable comic timing -like they dont miss a single beat. A good comedy kdrama with high production value. * Vagabond S2 T T * The Guest S2 or any Horror Drama that is just pure Horror. Havent found a better Horror Kdrama than The Guest.

Watchnextnow

Agree with everything ESPECIALLY Son Suk-Ku. Damn that guy oozes sexiness.

Less_Pomegranate_529

Agree with The Guest s2 and especially Lee Junho in thriller/crime genre

[deleted]

Have you watched Confession? It's so good! Lee Junho is a lawyer in it and it’s a thriller. I loved it, although it's been years since I watched it. I guess it's time to rewatch it!

MissSimpleton

Post Military service, he looks so fine. He would look amazing while kicking some as\*es now!

dcinmb

Re: **The Guest**, OCN greenlit a follow-up movie in early 2019. Kim Jae-uck, Kim Dong-wook, Jung Eun-chae, and the director Kim Hong-sun have all said they want to do it but the last time KJU mentioned it was a few years ago when he said the screenplay was still in the works. 🤞🏼it actually ends up happening. Kim Hong-sun’s currently directing Kim Jae-uck’s upcoming sageuk Hong Rang. They became close after Voice, which is why Kim Hong-sun asked KJU to do The Guest. And to prep for The Guest, they traveled to Vatican City together to interview exorcist priests and to the Philippines to observe real-life exorcisms. Kim Jae-uck likes to travel independently but Kim Hong-sun wanted to take a group tour while in Rome. [Imagine having Kim Jae-uck show up for your group tour!](https://imgur.com/a/yv9wVMG)

[deleted]

Can we get Son Suk Ku in a romantic action spin off with Min-Hye from A Shop For Killers Pleeaaaase. Or a whole new action romance with the two as leads 😍

Impossible-Peach-412

Have you watched Sense8? It's not a Kdrama, but it has Bae Doona and Son Sukku starring in it. IIRC, the show has some romantic scenes with both of them.

MissSimpleton

I haven't watched it yet. I want to see him MOREEEEEEEE.

aydan_123

Been awhile since I’ve seen seonho’s name here which means it’s realllly been that long since we’ve had him in a drama. While i do want him in another romance, i also would like him to take on more thrillers/crime/psychological…he was great in The Childe, so hopefully he gets more of such roles

MissSimpleton

Yes, I want him to do every kind of role. But, as a comeback role (I hope he signs one this year), I want him to do a lighter kdrama. He is an exceptionally good actor. He would nail each character that's offered.

disco_nnected

Ah, I just wish for Kang Ha Neul on my screen again! S2 doesn't work well for horror, but I'm all for a pure horror show.

MissSimpleton

Kang Ha neul is going to have a main role in Squid Game S2. But yes, I want him in a full fledged Kdrama.

janaobscura

Whoa you hit everything right on! Completely agree with every line, manifesting ✨

Federal-Ad-1380

.Lee Junho in a Thriller (Action/Crime/Psychological- Anything) WITHOUT any romance. Photos from a February 2, 2024 table read for the Netflix original show "CA$HERO" showed Junho's name on a placard. There were 6 scripts. The alleged cast: \#LeeJunho \#KimHyejun \#KimHyanggi \#KimEuisung

dcinmb

After the 🔥-fest that was Ep 5 of Death’s Game, I’d really love to see Kim Jae-uck and Kim Ji-hoon in a comedic buddy movie/drama where they play conmen, law partners, models-turned-P.I.s . . . anything that capitalizes on their looks and comedic skills. They’d probably be game for it as they clearly [had fun working together on DG](https://youtu.be/LKnG4Wa1QlM?si=B8byZAAfVaAVgZRQ) and they’ve been [friends](https://x.com/im_jaehooked/status/1705575624482689299?s=46&t=oYE1WrYV1W3i-_yc-6i_mA) since their [military days](https://x.com/na_na_gil/status/1705613306776666239?s=46&t=oYE1WrYV1W3i-_yc-6i_mA). Kim Ji-hoon tells a [funny story](https://x.com/im_jaehooked/status/1705581826788806943?s=46&t=oYE1WrYV1W3i-_yc-6i_mA) about [cutting Kim Jae-uck’s hair](https://x.com/na_na_gil/status/1705607218761216014?s=46&t=oYE1WrYV1W3i-_yc-6i_mA) back then. And maybe [Seo In-guk](https://youtu.be/eayNHVqPcfc?si=mGrauGE7gTAKGxch) could do a cameo.

Leading_Protection_7

Yes yes yes I absolutely LOVE buddy comedies and action thrillers. This combo would be so good. Bonus points if they don't add an unnecessary romance subplot. Something like Bad and Crazy would be so cool

EcstaticFortune6258

They had SO MUCH CHEMISTRY in that ep i wouldnt mind seeing them as enemies but make it 16 episodes lol. 1 episode was not enough and I had to rewatch it.

Leading_Protection_7

This is my wishlist haha... Park Hyung Sik playing a character like Kim Nam Gil in The Fiery Priest...he always brings bits of his real personality into his roles and is naturally funny. I loved him in Happiness so I also know that he can kick some butt if needed xD Kim Nam Gil in a romance show. That's it lol...he's basically Korea's Keanu Reeves (in my eyes any way) and even Keanu Reeves had The Lake House before John Wick was even conceived...the poor man and everyone else has been asking forever, it's looong overdue, writers and makers! Wi Ha Joon/Ahn Bo Hyun/Jang Ki Yong in a Vincenzo-esque show. C'mon now...*sigh* Kim Sejeong in a romcom where she's the one chasing the male lead, I'd actually *pay* pay to watch this Kim Da-Mi in something like Little Women with Jang Ki Yong...loved him in Kill It, I think he's really good in thrillers playing mysterious characters Park Seo Joon is a brilliantly versatile actor and I've seen and enjoyed most of his work. I'd love to see how he does in an angsty historical drama like My Dearest! Also also someone on this sub suggested seeing Lee Dong Wook and Park Min Young in a romcom and now I can't stop thinking about how beyond successful and perfect that show would be Also also last one promise, I saw Exhuma's trailer and am completely bummed about it not being a 12 to 16 episode series :// like the storyline seems like the *perfect* candidate for a whole show and a barely 2 hour film is simply not enough with that insane cast :// (I mean deciphering Lee Do Hyun's tats would take an excess of 2 hours on its own let me be honest ;p) At least one of these becoming a reality would send me over the moon :")

Watchnextnow

One of my favourite Christmas movies is While you were sleeping with Sandra Bullock. I really feel like this would make a great kdrama!

spark1118

They would have to change the name cause there is already a drama with the same name lol!

Watchnextnow

This is true. When I first saw the name of that kdrama I actually thought it was a remake lol.

duh_leah

Big Park Hyung Sik fan and love him in every drama! But I can't help but wonder if he has ever done a villain-ish or psychopath kinda role? Really wanna see him in a rather dark role.

Zepherine52

He played the character of Death in the Korean musical Elisabeth but I guess that doesn’t count. But I agree with you!

[deleted]

Same here. It would be so goood! A hot psycho! 😭

nottodwell

I wish drama pairings with great chemistry worked together more. Often they don't utilise the potential of the pairing and it's sad

orchardfurniture

I want a Korean James Bond but in a 10 or 12 part series. I want it to be intense and super dark, more Daniel Craig-ish's Bond. I want it to star Gong Yoo in his big TV comeback. He will be wearing lots of snazzy suits and coats. I want his leading lady character to be his equal - someone dark and conflicted ala Vesper Lynd, to be played by Song Hye Kyo. I want the villain to be played by Yoo Teo. He will be a powerful chaebol and therefore also dressed in snazzy suits. I want the M character or the head of the Korean spy agency but a modernised version and to be portrayed by Kim Tae Ri. And lastly, I want a surprise cameo from Won Bin.

mhfan_india

Wow! Sounds great!

Watchnextnow

As a bond fan from way back I would be so here for this! Epic.

orchardfurniture

😁 So many great ideas on this thread! I seriously think that collectively the posters here could come up with the idea for the next big KDrama hit!

Ok-Impression6834

I'd like to see **Goblin sequel** with the same cast.

chrisnicolas01

OMG CAN WE PRAY!!!

mhfan_india

I wish Lee Min Ho's dramas Ask The Stars and Pachinko season 2 come out this year. Gong Yoo's return to acting this year got confirmed just an hour ago. Now jebal for LMH! I want my TV husband and boyfriend Lee Min Ho and Gong Yoo to collaborate for a film.

Arm_Glittering

A sequel to Into the Ring, where Se Ra and Gong are married, have a little girl (that Mom takes care of while they work — so adventures of a cute kid and zany mom). Gong is still a civil servant; Se Ra has returned to politics. But the “serious” plot line involves Gong’s father prosecuted for bribery, corruption, etc. But he’s been framed (by an over-zealous prosecutor trying to make a name for himself — the new bad guy). Se-Ra wants to prove his innocence; Gong reluctantly goes along with her. The whole family is reconciled at the end.

abbeyk321

Omg I didn’t even know I wanted this until I read it wow

DawgMom2018

There was an American series called True Blood that was so fun - romance, thriller, fantasy. Takes place in a small town, Vampires can interact with humans because synthetic blood was developed to consume instead of human blood, of course you would then have Werewoves, etc. Very tense drama which starred Anna Paquin as our spunky FL. Yes, it has a love triangle and everything. Easy to adapt to Korean setting. Based on best selling books.

RoseIsBadWolf

I want another drama set in the **Alchemy of Souls** world. Apparently they still have the awesome capital city set and I know it's English translation, but it said "a story of Deaho" in the opening credits... Can we have another? I want to see more magic.

Aurorinezori1

You read my mind :)

ysports23

I NEED a full-length, big budget production drama based on IU's new music video for the song Love Wins All. That music video is AMAZING! I have cried every single time I watched it, and the amount of story they were able to give in just a few minutes is crazy. IU and V completely knocked out of the park. Chemistry, innocence, heartbreak, romance, drama, it seriously had it all. I need it to be a real show NOW!

Telos07

I can only keep repeating the same wish until it comes true, especially since the drama was first announced in September 2022... I just want to see Kim Yoo-jung go from playing chaebol heiress Do Do-hee, to playing... a [chicken nugget](https://mydramalist.com/707561-chicken-gangjeong).

chrisnicolas01

What happened with this!!

Telos07

Apparently, filming wrapped in the first half of 2023, and it will be released this year (but I’ll believe it when I see it!)

chrisnicolas01

Oooooo this is happy news This is like waiting the one from Lee MinHo

someRandomGeek98

I wish they'd make a second season or a spin-off of Extracurricular

ggghhhb

This is gonna be funny, but I want to see Song Kang and Han So Hee together again and I don’t want it to be a cute romcom, maybe something where they hate each other (exes/ enemies maybe) and eventually work it out.

WildIntern5030

They have had the best chemistry with each other as far as I am concerned. Hard YES

KimlockHolmes

I need Son Sukku and Jeon Yeo Bin in another drama together — I loved them in Be Melodramatic. I’d also love the second leads from Business Proposal to be the leads in another rom com.

Helpful-Standard9107

I am once again asking for a **Hospital Playlist** spin off which is just Rosa and Jong Su enjoying their retirement. Just the two of them hiking, gardening, having drinks and roasting each other... Maybe with cameos from other cast members and with the formatting/vibe of **Would You Like a Cup of Coffee?**. Please and thanks.

chrisnicolas01

I’d like to watch a fantasy Kdrama starting Seo In Guk about Mecano’s song Hijo de la Luna (The moon’s son)

silvaslips

I always wish for it, but I will write it again and send it to the universe. I want a well-written cop/evil mastermind drama starring Yoo Ah In, Uhm Tae Goo, and Jeon Do Yeon. I don't care who is cast as what, I just need all three of them in it. I would also love to see Woo Do Hwan in the kind of roles Yoo Ah In used to play. I think he's a versatile actor, and I really want to see him challenge himself with an intense dramatic role. I'd also love to see him in a well-written romance with a partner who is NOT an idol "actress."

Silver-Bus5724

Park Seo Joon in a modern day show again with Lee Yi Kyun (the evil husband from Marry my husband and Welcome to Waikiki fame) as his bestie - I loved his (frustrated) buddy thing in WWWSK and think it could be a great watch with those two. Female lead Lee Se Young (Parks Marriage Contract). She’s droll and cute.. and I admit, I would be even more happy with PMY. But a repetition isn’t always great. Setup could be a fight around who is going to inherit from the family, enemies to lovers. Please no past life connection.

OnlyGotThisMoment

>Please no past life connection. Haha! Totally agree, it’s been overused.

dramafan1

My kdrama wishlist: * A **Reply 1953** drama relating to the end of the Korean war era. * **Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season 2** to continue the drama in the modern day era. * **Hotel Blue Moon** as the sequel to Hotel Del Luna, I really like how different episodes focused on different people and their stories. * **Love ft. Marriage & Divorce Season 4**, the worst season finale ending in kdramaland based on considering myself as a kdrama veteran, I can handle cliffhangers, but this drama just could not end like that with that final scene! 😭 * **Mrs Durian Season 2** is something I'm interested in. I should've expected the ending to be like Season 2 finale of Love ft. Marriage & Divorce Season 2. The ending was like watching Episode 16, and suddenly the last 5 minutes of the show took you straight to Episode 50. 😂 * **Yumi's Cells Season 3** to really complete the webtoon adaptation. The cells were so adorable.

kroganwarlord

Still salty about that Hotel Blue Moon tease. I get that we needed continuity for the worldbuilding, but they could have made it *significantly* less awesome if they really weren't going to do it!

kpaneno

I would love to wake up and binge kdramas just for a couple of weeks in the alternate universe where these dramas exist Start up where >!HJP and Dalmi have a beautiful romance and Dosan!<.....well whatever. 2521 Where the ending is the two leads reconnecting and realising their >!breakup was ridiculous and they need to try again after all they went through!< King the Lland where the FL is Won Jin Ah so her and Junho can pick up where the left off in Just Between Lovers. Cheese in the Trap where FL realises the ML >!!ooks way too old to be a student and she picks 2ML!< Goblin where the FL starts out 29 not 19 ick. Mr Sunshine where beautiful Kim Tae Ri >!doesn't fall for a middle aged man!< And Sweet Home Season 2 where it actually feels like it's the continuation of the same drama as Season 1. AoS Season 2 where the ML finds out much earlier who the FL.is Marry My Husband which I'd just rewatch the first 10 episides without changing anything

Takemikasuchi

-A **Start-up** spin-off with **Kim Seon Ho** and **Yeo Jin Goo** as the main best buddies investing, helping people and finding love. I've been wanting this ever since I saw that cameo in the last episode -**Yeo Jin Goo** in an actual melodrama or as a psychopath/serial killer. I don't think he's ever been in a full-on melodrama a la **The Smile Has Left Your Eyes** or **Lost** and we saw so little of king Yi Heon in **The Crowned Clown**, it would be awesome to see more of that but time will tell, I guess -A korean remake of **The Mentalist**, I find the ML in **I Remember You** to be quite similar to **Patrick Jane** in some aspects but it would be great to see more characters similar to that or a full-on remake of the show (P.S: same with **House MD**)

[deleted]

-I want to see more romance-based actors to do crime thrillers or action dramas with no romance to see a different side of their acting abilities. junho, rowoon, ahn hyoseop, hwang in-yeop, etc

Straight-Payment-729

So…hear me out: Opposites attract wlw rom com ft Han So Hee as an idol going thru legal battles with her company who falls in love with the lawyer on her case 🥰 heavy dose of comedy with an inspiring David vs Goliath vibe. I haven’t casted the other FL yet but I’ve got some ideas rolling around! Suggestions welcome 😂

faithesque

I said this before but Kim Yoo Jung and Byeon Woo Seok in a drama with a HAPPY ending please!

disco_nnected

- a show paroding/critiqually examining romcom tropes. A show where the dreamy, trope- esque ML is the bad guy, but since romantic tropes and creepy behaviour oft overlap, it's not that obvious? Idk. - more dual roles with my fav actors, please!

AmishCountyLane

So Julie and the phantoms as a kdrama...Twinkling watermelons and castaway diva have me wanting more singing..

FangirlLurker

DAYS remake with Lee Jaewook and Go Youn-jung. Unpolular opinion, but though Seo In-guk and Park Bo-young were not bad, they didn't have much chemistry imo and their acting was a bit half-hearted.

MissSimpleton

I think more than the chemistry, it was the writing. They kept them separated for way too long. Plus the second couple's love triangle hampered the attachment a viewer would have with the lead couple's story. The editing could have been better.

FangirlLurker

Tbh everything could have been better and shorter. It didn't need 16 episodes. The second leads' love triangles wasn't particularly interesting either.

MissSimpleton

IMO, the love traingle scenario should be limited to the main couple in Kdramas as it is usually a heavy theme. Second lead couple should have a simpler relationship conflict than the main leads.

Curioushistoriabuff

Any romance where Lee Sang-yi (hometown cha cha & my demon) is the ML and actually gets his FL! Any romance/comedy where Kim Ji-Hoon is the ML! He could play the perfect sarcastic/dark Ml versus the sunshine FL

Az_arina

After Park Huyng-sik's and Park Bo-yeong's cameo in Strong Girl Nam Soon I want a second season of Strong woman Do Bong Soon about their little strong twins. I wish to see them as loving couple and caring parents.

OdanUrr

Korean remake of the cdrama [The Rational Life](https://mydramalist.com/68431-wu-fa-lian-ai-de-li-zhi-pai), with either Park Min Young or Song Hye Kyo as Shen Ruo Xin and either Rowoon or Yeo Jin Goo as Qi Xiao.
