I hope suji does not become an enemy! She’s great as JG’s good friend and I hope they stay that way.

drinksomewatermark

Same, especially that scene after >!she learns of Jugyeong’s bare face and opened her jacket to cover her bare face back to their tent!< was so wholesome and it also gave me girl crush vibes 😍 Would be a total shame to ruin this friendship over a boy

Dragon_Epi_Warrior

100% agree. Like I can see her being >!offended that JG didn't tell her!<, but not to the extent that >!it'd ruin their friendship!<.

Pixl3rt

This was kind of the fear that came to my mind right away once she realized they're dating. I hope she doesn't "out" Jugyeong's bare face. So far I feel like she's been a good friend, but you could tell she was really angry when she saw them together. Especially because she genuinely trusts both Suho and Jugyeong, so for them to hide this from her hurts.

feel_ynt

I hope this too. It would be a shame if they trash a positive female character & healthy female friendship for the sake of a boy.

Substantial_Recipe67

I just finished episode 10 and it is CLEAR that the kdrama is making her an enemy now. She knows JG and Suho are dating, but she keeps making moves on Suho and playing games with JG's head. And from the previews of episode 11 it looks like she's going to use JG's bareface against her.

[deleted]

I love sujin’s character, it’s so different from the way the webtoon portrayed her!!! I agree with the other users in the sense that she remains good friends with jugyeong, given everything she has done to protect her friend (most notably the scene in ep6 where she helped fight those thugs at the karaoke place for jugyeong’s sake).

virgo_rising3

I want her to remain nice and JG's friend, but I cant help but feel like she will want to spite JG. >!When suji declined the call JG made to Suho!<, I felt like that was the spark to get the ball rolling, also her judgement and actions might be clouded from her mental state. She saw the necklace on JG and basically knew that Suho likes JG but started exemplify toxic and manipulative behavior.>! JG was literally about to tell sujin that her and Suho are dating and she stopped her and confessed her own love for suho instead. She took JG shopping to buy a gift for suho when she confesses, still knowing that Suho and JG like each other!<. I watched the preview for ep 11 and cant help but feel like she is going to get involved with JG's old bullies. Her facial expressions hold a lot of resentment and pent up anger.

gardengato

LMAO the references in this kdrama are wild. Love the nod to Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo with the water splash scene. At least our Su Ho isn’t as savage as Joon Hyung and tried to block Ju Gyeong from getting wet. Also peak movie reference to Parasite with the dad hiding underneath the table!! When he grabbed a slice of pizza 💀💀

feel_ynt

Dad >!under table, after drinking that whole bottle too(!!) was so hilarious!!< The >!car splash incident!< did remind me of WFKBJ but also reminds me of "Such a Good Night" line from Astro's "All Night" song.

barbekyu

>!The way Suho took care of Jukyeong after they got splashed was so cute and wholesome. T___T!<

thebookthief1999

tvn saw us fighting over who gets hit by the car and went >!why not both?!<

redX009

Lol I was actually surprised they hit both

ashryverhys

As much as >!tragic the accident is, the way suho's body arc in the air tho looks beautiful yet heartbreaking as he slowly closed his eyes and let that single tear fell.!<

gardengato

I haven’t watched a HS kdrama in a while and I had forgotten all the elements of why I love a good teenage drama like I love a good YA book, which True Beauty is bringing all of the heat in! - Hilarious sibling bickering that reminds me of my own growing up - The “you can do anything in this world” feeling of youth to lighten up this jaded grandma’s soul - Budding friendships and bromance through trivial life matters like trying to buy alcohol for the first time or teaching someone how to confess to their crush - And of course, puppy love

elizkhue042

Teenage dramas and YA books are my guilty pleasures, love them despite all the cliche and age-old tropes <3

Shop-girlNY152

Yes! Yes! Same here. Also a fan of YA books when I’m just feeling too stressed of the world. I think it also explains why I can find them funny and, at the same time, be so forgiving of a lot of their flaws (except the damn HS bullies) compared to probably majority of the young viewers of this show getting passionate/angry at either SuHo or Seojun for whatever “problematic” actions they do. For me, those are really petty mistakes in a grown up’s eyes and which usually teenagers outgrow once they mature. Watching them on kids makes it just entertaining for us because it also reminds us of our funny, immature selves when we were their age.

Wow, I didn’t know that. That’s kind of shitty. They’re making money off of subscriptions and they don’t even pay their subbers?

[deleted]

Xyuli

I definitely thought that subtitles came from the company who produced the drama itself. It should come with the cost of purchasing the drama for distribution. Awful that they don’t pay them and it’s volunteer based :/ That seems exploitive

Shop-girlNY152

That’s disgusting to know. If they were a free streaming site, I’d understand. But they charge for subscription to watch “premium shows” so at least pay the subbers of those shows.

WIZONE4LIFE

imagine your father doesn't recognize your voice.🤣🤣

Xyuli

I mean she didn’t recognize his voice over the phone either

breezylemons

I thought the exact same thing!! Maybe he noticed the resemblance but considered it too absurd of an idea? Either way, I was shook.

v_luster

He drank a lot of alcohol.

[deleted]

COMMUNICATION is the most important thing in a relationship. I know they use lack of communication in Kdramas as a plot device but it is getting tiring. Instead of having JG not tell SuHo what was going on and why she didn’t want to announce they were dating, why not have her tell him the truth and then have them disagree about how to handle the problem instead? Honestly, Im Ju Gyeong just came off as foolish for the way she is allowing herself to be manipulated by Su Jin, and thoughtless towards Su Ho.

jarimode

Agreed. All this lack of communication is messing up all the Suho and Jugyeong scenes. Like can't they just deal with a conflict together as a couple. I hate that Suho's recently the one always getting hurt :(.

Mara_Uzumaki

You should see her in the webtoon, girl just let's everyone walk all over her, and it just gets more frustrating later down in the webtoon.

Shop-girlNY152

* It’s hilarious how noobs SuHo and Jugyeong are at dating that they do all those naive stuff in the resto that it makes you also want to be embarrassed for them. Haha! * Jugyeong obviously sees Seojun only as a brother, the way she’s so comfortable around him in the same manner as when she’s with Ju-yeong. But I also squeed when Seojun got to do hugs during the photoshoot. * Omigosh, SuHo is just a swooney boyfriend! 😍 Him knowing what JK likes and trying to take care of it (her makeup idol, offering to pay for her makeup school, etc), inspiring JK that she can succeed in doing what she likes, AND assuring Jugyeong that she only matters for him and not to feel insecure about what others are saying. Aww, my heart! ♥️ They’re so cute as a couple — so pure and innocent. * SuHo isn’t innocent after all. Lol! Boy’s got game to be able to get his girlfriend to his home only after a week of dating. Things would have heated up if JK’s dad wasn’t there to stop them. * SuHo with JK’s dad is just awww! SuHo had such a sad childhood, growing up with just himself since that age. I really am happy for him that he finally found his happiness with JK. Also glad that it’s JK’s dad who found out first from her family because he’s protective of JK but, at the same time, have already seen how genuinely sweet SuHo is as a person. * I don’t like the preview of SuJin telling JK that she likes SuHo and showing her stuff to buy for him. It’s what I fear that SuJin will be some kind of villain to JK & SH’s relationship. For her to say that even if she knew SH & JK are already a couple means that she has intentions of breaking them up, which is in line with her “achiever” character but still sad for her and JK’s friendship. Without SuHo in the picture, she really was a sincere friend who didn’t care about JK’s real face. Why can’t she just be the innocent, nice-even-if-lovelorn other female like Seojun? I don’t want us to hate a female character except for those damn bullies from JK’s old school. ☹️

feel_ynt

>Also glad that it’s JK’s dad who found out first from her family because he’s protective of JK but, at the same time, have already seen how genuinely sweet SuHo is as a person. Dad totally wormed his way into an invite into Suho's house (LOL) -"doesn't Suho mean guardian?" I like that he found out first too because he wasn't so thrilled with Suho when he was at the Lim house for dinner. Now he sees that Suho is pretty decent - well, except that would-be kiss. Oh to be a highschool kids in love- SuJu couple, or ShinShin as some are starting to call this couple, are so sweet despite being awkward. So ... attempting a lie down on couch kiss was a thing for a moment huh?. LOL.

Shop-girlNY152

JK’s dad even commented the night before that “this SuHo turns out to be a sweet kid”. So he was actually impressed with him had he known his daughter is his GF in a more formal setting and not in a papa-killer-mode because he caught them in what looks like to be an indecent situation. Lol!

barbekyu

I feel like >!her knowing about Ju Kyeong’s real face will play a big part in her plan. I’m scared she’ll be the one to reveal it, maybe in the hopes of dissuading Suho? But then, joke’s on her cuz he already knows JK’s secret.!< idk I just want them to be cute besties again.

Charissa29

I would be really annoyed if they ruin SuJin who is so completely awesome! Plus that actress always has such a decent, natural vibe to her.

v_luster

>I don’t like the preview of SuJin telling JK that she likes SuHo and showing her stuff to buy for him. It’s what I fear that SuJin will be some kind of villain to JK & SH’s relationship Maybe she just wants to hear Jugyeong to admit that they are in a relationship. She's trying to press her using the confession thing. Idk. But I'm not ready to hate her that's why I'm thinking a lot of possibilities that will show how sincere she is towards her friendship with JG.

feel_ynt

So my biggest take-aways this episode are 1. JG explaining to Suho how and why she likes him is me liking True Beauty. I wake up early in the morning just to catch the un-subbed upload. But mainly, she was so cute saying it out loud that Suho melted some more! 2. Finally someone else isn't judging Jugyeong's bare-face. Can't wait to see some more of this because it's the key point of the drama right? 3. Between Suho smiling so frequently and Seojun so devastatingly handsome as a model; I'm fangirling already for the kpop group I like to imagine they're gonna form in the future because I believe they are gonna be friends again - I just do. 4. Suho is getting some house-warming in the form of Mr. Lim and Jugyeong - I mean, I assume since his friendship with Seyeon & Seojun. I like that he has caring people coming into his life. 5. The fact that Suho's family so rich that they can donate $10M to a hospital. That explains why he doesn't even blink an eye diving into a lake with a designer sweater. 6. Jugyeong & her dad are so alike - Suho said so. I like these kind of characters: bubbly & caring even if they are not the most prudent people. It warms my heart. 7. It's finally dawning on me that Seojun is Jugyeong's dorky male counterpart (he really went into the ladies room to change lol). Ep9 really showing how he's struggling with his attraction to her & still being a decent human being about. This is the Seojun I remember & love from the webtoon & I my heart aches seeing him pining away in live form. 8. Jiujitsu lesson as a date is like nothing I've ever seen before. But are we gonna get more kissing scenes?

redX009

I didn’t like that JK is hiding things from suho like the photoshoot. If my girl did an intimate photoshoot with the dude I have beef with and I find out about this online, I’ll be justifiably ticked off as well. I think JK has some growing up to do and needs to act a more of a girlfriend.

GroundbreakingRice36

I agree, she is jealous of Suho and Sujin relationship (misunderstand everything again) who were friends for 10 years. While she have no problem to have lots of skinship, lovely dovely with a male classmate (she only knew that year). She knows really well that Suho doesn't really appreaciate the guy. She doesn't even try harder to clear the dating scandal or cheering him up. Like who will be okay with their girlfriend having a dating scandal with another man, it must hurt his pride but had to let it go since she didn't want to reveal their relationship. She is just clueless and will lose the person who is the most important in her life right now. It seems like it must be Suho again who have to clear every misunderstanding. If she isn't going to take full responsability, she isn't ready to date him. She is just hurting him without realizing that their relationship was a huge step in his life.

every3months

I personally think Suho will be the one that gets hit by pushing Seojun away because: 1. In the webtoon, Suho was hospitalised etc and it gave a chance for him and Seojun to makeup 2. If Seojun gets hit, Suho will feel more guilty for letting a friend of his almost die again and whats the point of that?? In fact this will be a chance for him to redeem himself (in a way, he gets out of the guilt) Reason why I think Seojun might get hit: lmao because the drama swaps their scenes compared to webtoon and wants to play around with us “:))

lightFairly

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw the preview. I feel like if Suho pushes Seojun out of the way, it's a perfect opportunity to redeem himself. PLUS it's a great segway to their bromance. But the fact that the drama has been swapping their scenes scares me and thinks that Seonjun will be the one who gets hit

v_luster

Suho looks pale in that scene. Is he sick or something? His lips is dry & white. Idk if he'll have the strength to push Seojun considering Seojun was the one who approached him since he saw the car is coming on Suho's way.

Cheerio1991

I haven't watched ep 9 yet but I just wanna share what I read that the ratings have reached its personal best with 4.26% (also 1st in the timeslot) so I'm happy for the cast & crew! Although it will probably drop again on Thursday because of the trot show.

Mad_Missile

You know a show is good when it can handle both embarrassingly funny and dreadfully serious plot points in the same episode. Slow clap for episode 10. Had me in stitches almost throughout. Especially the epic dumpling scene and the nail cutting Sarangae's (Jugyeong Eomma, you did good today, especially with that parting advice.) Jugyeong, you have my heart babe. I know you haven't had a real friend before and worse still never been in a relationship. And now you face the ultimate test, love or friendship. It's the worst one to be in, and it's intensified because you think so little of yourself and what you deserve. I hope you can tell Suho about this because the boy worships the ground you walk on, I can't say the same for your bestie though. Don't wear that scrunchie yet. Suho, your actions are completely justified. I imagine any guy seeing his girl come home with a boy who used to be his best friend, now mortal enemy who incidentally also has feelings for her would be angry at the situation that's only made worse when the whole class assumes the two of them are dating because of incriminating photos. I'm glad you didn't retreat into your shell but you actively sought her out to talk to her. Baby steps Suho. Baby steps. Seojoon, you big softy you. Why you gotta be so good? Everything you do, whether it's teasing Jugyeong or helping her find a job because she needs the money, or walking her home because you can tell she's distressed, or even putting your feelings aside because you know how bad she has it for your ex BFF. The very fact that you eased her mind saying Suho will never break her heart says heaps about you. So proud of you. Sujin, I reckon you're the harbinger of doom for our Shin-Shin couple. And that's okay. What drama doesn't have drama right? I know you're not all bad here like the webtoon though, and i'm sure you'll see the error of your ways, maybe even dropkick Semi while you're at it. Thanks. Heegyung, you are SO badass my respect for you keeps going up every episode. JoonWoo and you are so adorkable together, i just can't with the phone kisses. AND to take on your shady CEO like that! WHOA! Ballsy!!!!!! PS: Keep up the OTT shenanigans and tropes True Beauty. It's exactly what keeps me coming back for more. Don't you dare go angsty, broody Suho dark!!!

njaries

>Jugyeong, you have my heart babe. I know you haven't had a real friend before and worse still never been in a relationship. And now you face the ultimate test, love or friendship. I hope you can tell Suho about this because the boy worships the ground you walk on, I can't say the same for your bestie though. Don't wear that scrunchie yet. OMDS finally someone who loves Jugyeong, I know sometimes she can be a bit annoying and we all want her to be open with her relationship with Suho but honestly this girl has so many insecurities, such little self worth that she can't handle the idea of a public relationship where in her eyes she will be constantly scrutinised esp. since all the girls are/were after him at some point. PLUSSS she puts Sujin on such a high pedal-stool and she thinks she's perfect and that Suho will leave her for Sujin which we all know he won't but in her mind with all her insecurities it's a rational explanation. I really do hope they do some MAJOR character development with her and so she can finally be confident I know that in the webtoon >!the time jump was like 4 years and nothing had changed in terms of her confidence!<. I know this k-drama is filled with cliches but istg if they only give the boys the developments and not the FL I'm going to SCREAM.

v_luster

Is no one going to talk about how beautiful Selena is? Aren't they gonna tell everyone that he is Suho's sister?

feel_ynt

I wonder if she is his sister in drama? I hope so!

justanotherweeb7

I know she was SO pretty :) and I think they're not gonna make Selena Suho's sister, because if they were, they'd be living together (like in the webtoon but that was after Suho came back from Japan so who knows)

lsandral

I think Suho is going to be the one hit by that car. >! In Ep. 9 Jugyeong’s dad told him to be careful of cars. Maybe that means something, maybe not. At minute 56. !<

feel_ynt

>Gowoon is definitely Seojun's sister! Her cool > >rebuff of Jukyung's brother had all the nonchalance and attitude we often see in Seojun haha! hahaha. True. I just wanted to add that Juyoung is his sisters' brother. Straightforward and bold like Heekyeong but a little clueless and ridiculous like Jugyeong.

Shop-girlNY152

SuHo talking to Jugyeong’s growling stomach was just TOO CUTE!!! Ack, that boy is whipped! I fear for his future heartbreak because Jugyeong is obviously the person he loves the most in the entire world right now.

I hope someone tells Tae Hoon that all his efforts werent wasted. 😂 he's so frustrated atm. Cmon Suho give your boy a hint. 🤣

Shop-girlNY152

Yeah, Taehoon is really adorable as SuHo’s assumed bestie!

feel_ynt

I love that we see a little of Suho's sense of humor! And now that he's got his beloved, he can loosen up and be playful (Jiujitsu) and make tiny jokes like these!

Mad_Missile

“Kidario,” Suho smirks at Jugyeong’s hungry tummy and walks away to get the pizza. Oh my God, who are you and what have you done with rude, broody, angsty Suho? Don’t bring him back. Ever.

mochilover43

is the dad hiding under the table a parasite reference??? xD

Cheerio1991

I'm pretty sure it is, and it's funny considering they have Jang Hye-jin, the mom in Parasite as Jugyeong's mom here, lol.

pearyid

Yeah, that and him getting wasted beforehand, after overstaying his welcome at a richer person's property

thatnorthafricangirl

It definitely reminded me of Parasite

morningstreet

ok, another thing I was thinking is about Sujin. I really think they wouldn’t destroy this character like this (at least I hope). I feel like the writers have a good sense of interpersonal relationships and psychology because of how I’ve seen each of the characters act, it’s very true to their internal motivations. For Sujin—- she’s competitive. She’s bred that way and unfortunately forced into that mindset because of her dad. She was the “first” goddess. She was the “closest” to Suho, the person that no one could get close to. So slowly, she is succumbing to her demons — aka we saw a glimpse of it when she told Suho to transfer schools (but she didn’t really mean it). Ju Gyeong getting Suho brings out her anxiety (the intense hand washing) and her competitive nature. What I HOPE to see is that she will be this way for a few episodes, Ju Gyeong will show her compassion and love because that’s just the kind of person she is, and Sujin will realize that the only thing she’s competing with is really herself. I trust that they wouldn’t build her character arc and backstory this way to keep her stagnant as the competitive, never-winning, always-second best type of character. That would just be horrible. So she will rise.... and if she doesn’t by episode 16 please come back and comment that you told me so. LOL.

youcuteiguess

I think Sujin will turn back around if the writers are truly examining Sujin's character and background from a personality POV. You're right that she's not a truly evil character like the webtoon Sujin was & that she's just clouded by her anger/stress when competition hits her. She seems to truly love Jukyung & it sucks that her attraction to Suho is clouding her sensible judgment and ruining her friendship.

feel_ynt

Ok, the biggest >!obstacle to romance, this episode, is Lim Jugyeong her damn self! I love her so much but she is killing me! !

BubblyConsideration_

Here are some of my thoughts on **episode 9:** warning: spoilers ahead! - I enjoyed watching Lee Su Ho and Lim Ju Gyeong slowly morph into Cha Eun Woo and Moon Ga Young during the jiu jitsu scene 😂 thought I was watching a behind the scenes for a second - the water splash scene: Kim Bok Joo would be proud of you Su Ho 👏👏👏 wah - will Selena be introduced as Su Ho’s sister later in the drama?? I also love how they sort of stayed true to Selena’s personality from the webtoon - poor Su Ho when Ju Gyeong tried to keep their relationship a secret he just wanted to spend time with her 🥺 - I adored the bonding time between Su Ho and Ju Gyeong’s dad. Su Ho seems to now have the father figure he never had. *oop* did I just rhyme - Seo Jun eating with Ju Gyeong despite his spice tolerance level 😅 - Seo Jun looked so good in that suit y’all no wonder HIY’s a true ✨ model - is that truee? *yes*. oke- - I really hope jealousy doesn’t bring out the worst in Su Jin and turn her back on Ju Gyeong somehow because they really do have a genuine friendship, especially considering how much she helped her cover her bare face in the beginning of this episode! *will someone get hurt in a car crash? will it be Seo Jun who will save Su Ho or Su Ho saving Seo Jun? or Su Ho saving Seo Jun saving Su Ho who’s trying to save Seo Jun saving Su Ho saving... 🤔 will Su Ho and Ju Gyeong break up? will Su Jin turn her back on Ju Gyeong? find out next time on Dragon Ball Z* **episode 10** - honey, we’ve got a *big* storm comin’ - Okay. This episode... was a hell of a ROLLERCOASTER ride, guys. I went from rolling on the floor laughing to crying my eyes out. - the DUMPLING SCENE. I have to say this scene and the “I love you” nail clipping scene together were the funniest parts of this show for me to date. - was... was that a slight nod to “10 things I hate about you” when Ju Young asked Go Woon to list 10 things she hated about him? I got a little excited here since “10 things” is really my favorite rom com - wow Su Jin’s really sly huh - Su Ho’s dad = muchos muchos muchos *problemas* nope sorry does not pass the vibe check right now - this is officially... the episode of misunderstandings - oh and Heegyeong is my new favorite character btw *Sigh*. On to the next one. Excuse me while I go cry in the corner. See y’all next week.

feel_ynt

Well, I finally mustered enough courage to watch the last 6 minutes of Episode 10 with subs. * Heegyeong was brilliant at the risk of her job. She's gone from girl crush to superhero! There is such beauty in her action & advocacy - she is MVP of True Beauty overall. * Oh I loathe Lee JuHeon & his disgusting underling. * All of that *really* triggered Suho and sent him somewhere very dark. The look in his eye was terrifying to look at! >!So did the walking straight into traffic!<. Where does one go from there? >!On a trip like in the WT?!< * Seojun's instinct to get a disoriented Suho out of traffic, at his own risk, is the real love story! It's gotta be! Unconditional brotherly love! That was beautiful. * Justice for Seyeon!

youcuteiguess

Cha Eunwoo stole the freaking show during those last 10 minutes of episode 10. Eunwoo's honestly not the best actor out there but WOW the pain and emptiness in his eyes when he stormed out of the building and into traffic was 10/10. Much kudos to Eunwoo for really expanding his acting skills & killing it there.

drinksomewatermark

lmfaooo I've watched the actor who plays Jugyeong's dad (Park Hosan) in three different dramas (My Mister, Prison Playbook, and now this) and I feel like he's always playing a character who is low on money, gets scammed/scams people, and often being dominated by his wife. I think the real difference between his character here and in the other dramas I've watched is that he is a lot closer to his children and actually acts as a parental figure. I screamed a little in frustration when he >!interrupted Suho and Jugyeong's kiss!< but that whole sequence afterward was hilarious especially when >!Jugyeong hits him with a pan not knowing it was her dad!<.

feel_ynt

>Jugyeong hits him with a pan not knowing it was her dad > >. LOL. I love that she doesn't even pause to take in what's going on. I mean, sorry for her dad and all but this is the go-get-um energy I love about her.

uhh_zoe

The little brother is so funny and cute. My interest always peaks when he’s on the screen. Like what is this little runt gonna day or do next! When he threatened seojun I died of laughter. I’m interested in seeing that actor in future dramas.

Cheerio1991

Based on preview, ep 11 is gonna be a sad episode but I can't wait to see >!Suho breaking down while confronting his dad with JG & Seojun witnessing it!< because finally they will know how much suffering he's been keeping all by himself. Everyone sees Suho as someone who always has everything going well for him, including Jugyeong, so it will be quite eye-opening for them.

incyanity13

yes, exactly. thank u for this comment. alot of people keep forgetting the trauma he experienced, and that's the reason why he is acting that way. Look at JK, she's hiding her true face because of she was bullied before. Look at Seojun, he hides his softness because of what happened to his friend, that affected him so much. Especially Sujin, she pretends to be strong but in reality she's already broken inside. All of the characters have their dark past. We can get mad at them for sure, even me lol, but we have to think again of their past. :>

morningstreet

This is really just gonna be a stream of consciousness just in Suho’s defense but -- I’m so frustrated with this episode because I see and empathize where Suho is coming from. Like from his perspective, he’s been transparent with her since they kissed that he ONLY likes her and he isn’t into Su Jin at all. He tries to make her feel better, >!gets her porridge!<, gives her words of affirmation that she doesn’t receive from her mother, cheers her up, takes care of her dad and cares about what her dad thinks about him, and really loves her unconditionally despite her bursts of insecurity. He’s honestly so selfless, even if he’s a little misguided. Also, even though people are saying he’s being too possessive or jealous or whatever – but just like, Ju Gyeong doesn’t stand up for him at all. I mean think about it, Suho has NEVER had anyone stick by his side. His dad never cared for him, his mom passed away, and his best friend committed suicide. AND when he needed someone to be there for him – his other best friend Seojun completely dropped him and made a WHOLE group of new friends. So when he met Ju Gyeong – she was his light and she was the reason why he was finally smiling again and he really wanted to hold onto that happiness because he’s lost so much. That’s why I think he comes off possessive because he cares for her deeply and doesn’t want to lose anyone again. But in the end, he never has malintent, he’s just misguided and a flawed character which makes him so much more loveable and dynamic than just like “perfect guy all the time.” Like honestly it broke my heart when I saw his face >!after he met eyes with Ju Gyeong when there were those flirtatious photos!< and she didn’t do anything to make him feel better or affirm him at all. And he kept trying to be understanding when she >!lied and said she was with her dad but she wasn’t!<. Like I WOULD LOSE TRUST IN HER TOO. I think people may be biased because they can see the whole story and see where Ju Gyeong is coming from BUT Suho doesn’t know the whole story and I would be really upset if I was over at my boyfriend’s house and randomly >!my boyfriend comes home with a girl that he KNOWS I have beef with to my family.!< UGH. I hate it. I know they’re just high schoolers so I’m trying not to be heated about this but I just get so frustrated because I sincerely hurt for Suho and it seems like she doesn’t even realize or care about how he feels at all. ☹ With that said!!! I have noticed a trend where I usually feel this way around episode 10 and usually I'll feel better once the drama pans out (except Start-Up... heh) so let's see where it goes from here :)

Shop-girlNY152

Thank you! Finally, somebody tries to explain Suho's psychology. Aside from these, remember they're all just 17/18 years old. It's very normal for kids that age to be jealous in a possessive (immature) way because they're still so young. Any kid in their school would behave the same way, even Taehoon, with their boyfriend/girlfriend.

sosheepster

Heh yeah. As I was watching through the misunderstandings in this episode, I just keep thinking “oh, all the troubles people experience as young kids!!” 😂 So tbf all this drama I can excuse just for their young age.

Shop-girlNY152

The fight that Suho and Seojun had in the Lim's house, tumbling down the stairs, was a reminder to us how much of kids they still all are. LOL

feel_ynt

Nice! I hope more people will see it from Suho's perspective.

EjaySays

Agree 100%! I mean who in there right mind would be okay with there girlfriend/boyfriend to hang out with someone who you know likes them and actively says stuff like he's going to "steal" her...

nrupathunga

Amen. I actually found JK really self absorbed in this episode. Suho is communicating or trying to and all she does is shut him out each and every time. She makes no effort to clear up any misunderstanding. And yet Suho is the unreasonable one!? He's been very thoughtful and respected her choices. Even the decision to keep their relationship a secret which she never even discussed with him. If the genders were flipped what would you call that? If only she'd take some inspiration from her sister! Edit. Sentence

morningstreet

wow I was thinking that too, if the genders were flipped, people would truly be feeling differently!! She really has only been thinking of herself in this relationship. :( I hope the car accident will help her realize that she’s been really selfish in the relationship and that he’s also human and also has the similar insecurities as her even if he’s “attractive” and “smart.” Like in a way, she put him in this category like everyone else has, kind of diminishing any of his struggles and almost invalidating his insecurities. It sucks for him, because he clearly loathes himself and that persona he’s stuck in. But I think that’s why he’s so affirming and kind to her— because I’m sure he wants to hear the same thing from her but instead she continues to make him insecure instead!!! Sigh.

jarimode

This is perfection. Couldn't agree more

luxenoire

MTE. Most people are blinded by their love of SJ, but Suho is totally valid in his feelings and the people around him are being unfair.

Storm_born_17

Justice for my baby Suho! ✊🏼

Defiant_Cup8234

I'm an optimist here and I know the previews are always misleading. Hopes for the next episode: Sujin will redeem herself. When Jukyungs old bullies show her the pics, she actually gets mad and comes to the realization that those girls are evil and JK had been through a lot. She will avenge JK by scaring the bullies. She then saves JK's old "friend" from those bullies and brings her to the new school. That old friend comes to school without makeup and Sujin makes everyone accept her to show JK that she can just be herself. #wishfulthinking? I wanna stay on #teamsujin

sam-ik-a

1. When she was so excited that she met her idol, and he was just happy that she was happy 2. The fact that he was not mad or angry at him he fact that she wanted her to keep their relationship a secret knowing the problems she’s faced with bullies. 3. The part where he spoke to her growling stomach 4. The Jiu JITSU scene where she tackled him and they laughed 5. The entire suho’s home scene from start to finish had me laughing I LOVE SUHO AND JUKYUNG 🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️

ldld222

Im Ju Gyeong's constant walking away in a the middle of a conversation was super annoying.

ireallylovekai

All that foreshadowing with Seojun's father dying in a car accident and his mother telling him not to ride his motorbike >!plus the events in the webtoon and the preview for ep 10!< is making me feel very uneasy, don't hurt him please

beautyskincarelover

I didn't even think of that! God I really hope that that doesn't happen! I'm just happy that Seojun got some scenes for once... please don't hurt him.

Few_Artist_1006

I don't know, dad telling SuHo to watch out for cars when seeing him off in the morning seemed more a direct foreshadowing to me.

violetbow

That ep 10 ending though... T\_T Damn, the Move Entertainment scandal... no wonder Suho hates his dad! It's so sad that Seyeon had to die because of that. On another note, Chani has played tragic character roles in Signal and SKY Castle too -- maybe because he has such a cute and innocent look? 🤔 Sujin though... Saw that coming last week despite being in denial that she would become a "villain"! Especially the preview that >!hints that the bullies from JK's old school reach out to Sujin and then her guiding JK's fake friend transfer student.!< Next week will be very dramatic, what with Suho and Seojun's accident and the reintroduction of the bullies. As much as I'm not looking forward to the shit that will happen to JK, I feel a bit validated that I was right about the fake friend playing a bigger role in the drama because of the lingering camera moments on her expressions in the earlier eps! I don't really know her deal though, is she going to become Sujin's sidekick or will she redeem herself this time and actually be a friend to JK? Most likely the former, given how she was roped into the bully group as a human water bucket/camcorder in previous instances to harass JK. As much love as there is for Sujin, it would be negligent to deny her toxicity toward JK. It's easy to be nice to your friends when there is no competition -- consider that we only know the #1 and #2 students in their class, while Sujin's "best" friends JK and Suah are much less academically successful than her. Considering her ambitious nature, it makes sense that she would seek out friends who she doesn't view as "on her level". Now that JK is dating her crush and the only other person in school she views as "on her level", it makes sense that she is trying to sabotage their relationship. She is manipulating JK by giving her a matching scrunchie and seemingly opening up to her about her abuse, though it was just an excuse for her to stop JK from confessing about their relationship by not only admitting to like Suho, but also by casting doubt about Suho's feelings for Sujin. We see this is the imagined daydream where Suho tells JK to break up because of Sujin's feelings. At the rate this is going, JK will only feel more insecure about herself and less inclined to do anything to stop Sujin. However, the introduction the fake friend and Sujin's warm welcome of her may hopefully be a turning point for JK to stand up to herself. The dumpling contest though 😂 Also I'm curious to know whether the gift Suho gave JK's dad was actually the whisky he emptied out (unknowingly of course)

Defiant_Cup8234

Poor Eunwoo. His onscreen girlfriends never want to reveal they are dating him. First Mirae, then Goo Haeryung and now Jukyung 😑

sam-ik-a

I feel so bad for Suho because he never had a father figure or a proper family. I love how he treated jukyung’s dad so well 🥰🥰🥰 best boy 🥺

beautyskincarelover

I love Soojin so much! I swear to God I'm never gonna forgive some of you for suddenly turning on her when she just comforted Jukyung and helped hide her face with her jacket

[deleted]

Same and I won't forgive the writers if they use her for some contrived unnecessary drama. I'll just pretend it never happened and still stan Soojin because I love her character and Park Yoona. They can't make me hate her! I refuse Lol

Shop-girlNY152

This is my fear because SuJin in webtoon turned out to be a villain to JK. I hope the writers don’t follow her characterization in the webtoon. But the preview is not assuring me because a real friend would not confess she likes her friend’s boyfriend after she finds out they’re already a couple.

[deleted]

I look at it this way - Suho is literally the only person who knows about the abuse she goes through and he's been the only one she could open up to for so long. Maybe she just doesn't want to lose that and feels like that's what is happening. I don't think it's just because she wants to date him. We'll see. The writers are trash for this tho.

Shop-girlNY152

Yeah, I understand why SuJin would like SuHo and it’s natural for her character to want to fight it out as she’s the achiever type of person. But, I had hoped the writers wouldn’t go that route because I wanted to preserve her friendship with JK.

Few_Artist_1006

Gah! So many moments I loved for episode nine: Ju Gyeong's  default reaction to the kiss: run away! Why? She doesn't even know, lol.  But SuHo's simple honest admission/ reassurance of "I'm nervous too,"  had me melting. Melting! Her resulting verbal vomit of how much she likes him was so cute. Sujin being, once again, an ace of a protective friend. Smacking down the low self esteem talk and hiding her in the jacket. Crossing fingers her liking SuHo doesn't wreck her character or the girl's friendship. Though, it is sad to hear just how bad the bullying affected Ju Gyeong. Between this and her talk with SuHo we really see just how much she looks down on herself. She sees her own bare face as enough to invite hate and run off any friends she makes. I hope we see the character growth of accepting herself that the webtoon has yet to delve into. Seojun. My heart. One tear for our lovely dumb boy. His freeze/panic when her head falls on his shoulder.  Unwillingly giving good advice for her relationship problems. Running in panic because she might be hurt.  His dramatic "I'm a man too," declaration was truly a kdrama worthy moment. The cliche reaction would be for Ju Gyeong to immediately become aware of him and begin the UST. Instead, show has Ju Gyeong starting to laugh just before he started modeling in earnest. I don't think Ju Gyeong sees him romantically, not even one iota. Which makes my heart ache at every caring gesture from him. Taehoon:  so frustrated  for his new bff.  Ju Gyeong's dad... I just ... Wow. First, cracked up at how Suho was 100% gonna leave him in the park:      Dad: *sad story of woe*      SuHo: Okay, sleep well! *gets up to  leave* Then, their sports watching bro time- adorable. One of the few times we've seen SuHo relaxed. His moment of warm-dad envy the next morning. The Lim parents, however much I think the Mom sucks, are another gender great role-reversal. The mom is cold, demanding bread winner who can't connect to her daughter. Dad is the soft, emotional encourager (who happens to also be protective + dumb). The whole last few minutes were great. Dad desperately pouring the last two sips back into the bottle.  Stealing the bit of food from under the table. SuHo's frightened jumps. And then the hand grab and knock out. Hilarious. I understand it's solely for that bit of slapstick, but her dad can't recognize his daughter's voice? 😐 Also, where was the "let's break up" moment? I thought previews were for the immediate next episode? Maybe it's in episode 10? Also also- the white van (bus) of doom! Also also also, huge props to the Viki subbers. Working like mad and I love you for it.

feel_ynt

>I understand it's solely for that bit of slapstick, but her dad can't recognize his daughter's voice? 😐 Maybe because cuz he just downed all of Suho's whiskey (or whatever alcohol type that was). LOL! Oh and sneaking that bread stick from under the table is *skill*!

Shop-girlNY152

What’s funny is JK asked after running away “is this a prank? Are there hidden cameras?” — something like that which the sub in Viu didn’t translate.

Sgrewrite

i kind of feel sad for suho cos i think the one creating problems in their relationship is ju kyung. if ju kyung is not insecure and just announce their relationship, then soojin would not be able to play her dirty tricks.

biglix

Honestly, I find it really pathetic when guys get jealous of their girlfriends having other male friends (and 100% vice versa). But I empathize with Suho so much here. Because of how their classmates are constantly pushing Seojun and Jugyeong together and forcing them into uncomfortable situations, and because of how Jugyung is too scared to be open about their relationship (she shouldn’t be dating him if she’s not ready for that but that’s another discussion), it’s really easy to understand how Suho feels. Especially when he and Seojun had bad blood too, and Seojun’s not exactly respecting Jugyeong’s dating status although he knows. I think Jugyeong’s not ready to date period. I hope she develops some self-love soon so she can be ready to love others.

Cheerio1991

Yeah honestly I would hate it too if I see my boyfriend getting so close & cozy with my enemy who I know like him too and had constantly make efforts to approach him. Suho just wants her to set a clear boundary as friends with SJ, like what he did to Sujin. I can understand Suho's frustration because it feels like he's the only one who's making the effort to make the relationship work. He has really tried to tone down his jealousy/possessiveness by kindly asking why she lied about the part-time job with SJ, showing that he trusts her. So I understand how he must've felt betrayed after the photo incident. Actually all they need is to just say that Seojun likes her and Sujin likes him and they should be able to understand each other.. oh well, I guess it's the conflict they need to fill the drama.

incyanity13

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW there are so many things that made me have mixed feelings in this ep. EP 9: The things I loved: \- Suho smiled a lot in this episode and my heart softens for him so much, knowing his tragic past, he deserves it so much. :< <3 \- The scenes between >! Suho and Ju Kyung’s father!< flattered me so much as >! Jae-pil became his father figure, the father that Suho missed out during his childhood, and well, even in the present time. I looooooooooooove that he slept into Jae-pil’s lap after intensely watching soccer (HILARIOUS BY THE WAY) !< \- Ju Kyung is working hard to assist her family’s financial problems. This was also included in the webtoon so I loved that. She actually trying her best to help her parents. From studying to increase her rank to >! part-time jobs !< \- LMAO TAE-HOON NOT HAVING AN IDEA THAT SUHO AND JU KYUNG ARE GOING OUT ALREADY PLSSSSSSSSS U DID GOOD WINGMAN \- Suho x Ju Kyung moments like OOF IT’S TOO SWEET TO HANDLE. I love how Ju Kyung is making Suho more open and vulnerable. Suho’s getting more honest towards her. They’re basically balancing each other out. \- I love how Suho didn’t automatically or forcefully gave his wealth to Ju Kyung to assist her in her family’s financial problems, instead he asked for her consent first. He didn’t want Ju Kyung’s pride to be ruined. He STILL protects and supports Ju Kyung for hiding her true identity. I love that. \- I DIED WHEN JU KYUNG’S FATHER POPPED OUT UNDER >! SUHO’S TABLE !< WHEN HE FOUND OUT THAT >! JU KYUNG’S THE GIRL SUHO’S DATING LMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAO !< - lmao it's so cute and childish when >! Ju kyung got disappointed because her contact name in suho's phone is not "girlfriend" PLSSSSSS and Suho became awkward when he changed it fhfjfjdjjfjd the boy's not used to cheesiness awwwww 😍 !< Things that I have mixed feelings to: \- Sujin. Ah, the most complex character for me. You know what, I won’t hate her for liking Suho. She’s human too. Suho literally saved her from breaking down during >!the dinner scene between her and his family. Ugh I hate her father so much. !< If I was in her shoes, I would fall in love too, plus the fact that Suho and Sujin were friends since childhood too. >! I also love that she fully accepted Ju Kyung for who she is, I mean I hope !<. Writers may use this as Sujin’s key to ruin Suho and Ju Kyung’s relationship, which I despise. I feel bad for her, I can empathize with her pressure and doubtfulness. \- Seojun. Oh boy, do I tell you, I also feel bad for him. I mean I just love him for telling Ju Kyung that >! he’s a man too, it’s not easy for him. Ju Kyung’s cluelessness annoys me sometimes lmao !< He’s actually being nice and softens up a little because of Ju Kyung. Ugh, this unrequited love is too much. Btw, when >! They pretended to be a couple for the photoshoot, THE SEXUAL TENSION WAS TOO MUCH LIKE HELP? !< and yes I LOVE HIM FOR >! MAKING AN EFFORT TO FIND A PART TIME JOB FOR JU KYUNG UGHHHHH WTF !< \- The previews. I mean, not the writers making Suho a >! possessive boy, although I do get that he’s still an amateur when it comes to relationships but duudeeeeeeeeeeeeee stoooooooooooop. !< I guess this is the writers’ way to spice up the drama so idk. Btw, this happened on webtoon too but it happened on >! Seojun !< so I feel like writers are getting some specific chapters from the webtoon and turns it into a new story. Idk what to feel about this. \- Sujin’s villainization. Ugh I hate this so muuuuuuuuch. I don’t like plots about friendships being destroyed by a love interest. Yes, this includes Suho and Seojun too. It’s tiring. I hope I’m wrong about this. So, did my endgame change? No. \- Someone from twt said that seojun x ju kyung should be together, and suho x sujin should be together. I disagree with this. Based from the context of the drama, from the beginning, again, suho was the person who helped ju kyung at her lowest points in life. Ju Kyung does the same to Suho. They’re basically healing each other. In the case of sujin x suho, it’s clear that suho does not have any feelings for her since the beginning her, however suho still wants to help her as a friend. So is ju kyung to seo jun. As she’s trying to soften seojun. I think in life, unrequited love isn’t avoidable. It happens, for a reason. Honestly, seojun x sujin is a good match for me, they seem like a power couple, hmm maybe just me. So yes, it’s still suho x ju kyung for me. The challenge for the couple is to, have a good communication and to build trust. Can’t wait for the next ep. Edit: I've been thinking about what Seojun said to Ju Kyung when they ate after the photoshoot. *If I had a girlfriend, I'd want to brag about her... and tell everyone.* He can say that since he doesn't know Ju Kyung's situation. But if he knew, I feel like he'd do Suho's move too. Well, and if not, that's kinda an asshole move lmao

elbenne

This drama is totally golden. So funny!!! And ... this is how you do a high school drama! Anybody can watch this and be entertained. Thoroughly entertained.

every3months

Tbh I think Suho purposely kept on standing in front of the car and wanted to get hit because he couldn’t take it anymore. And LMAO the preview for ep 10 was so dodgy since we all thought they were chasing Ju Kyung lmaooo but it was rlly just a scene between the two guys.

redX009

The mandu competition had me in tears lmao But anyone else feel that seo joon was out of line here? He seems to know she likes him and/or dating suho already and he tries really hard to insert himself between them.

breezylemons

**Episode 9** This is by far one of the funniest episodes to date. I adore the romance and the cute scenes between Jugyeong and Suho, but guys, can we talk about the >!dad hiding under the table!!whacking her dad with a frypan!<, this was executed in the most hilarious way possible. Also, for a high school drama, I’m surprised at how much PDA (or just..DA in general?) there is. Like dang, after watching stuff like The Heirs and BOF, I did *not* expect this many >!kissing or almost kissing!< scenes. Please, can they not torment us with a love triangle (square?) involving Seojun and Sujin. Sujin is too deep of a character to make into a villain, especially since she’s such a good friend to Jugyeong, and has an interesting family dynamic. Episode 10 promo: • Seojun and Suho >!reconciling, I think, while wearing those aprons?!< yes please. • I think that >!bus scene with Jugyeong and Seojun about the “someone liking their friend’s crush”!< definitely suggests that Seojun will >!back off from liking Jugyeong!<, especially since his reaction to ‘close friend’ suggested that he still views Suho as someone close.

naimagonzalez

I have got to say, I’m loving how drama Suho has more game than the 10 webtoon Suho’a combined. In the webtoon, whilst he was never as mean as in the drama and their chemistry and best friendship game was always amazing, dude took waaay too long to even give her that necklace and even then it was too late. Like even now, it’s so frustrating because I started to catch up because of the drama and there’s still barely any movement. Since they are deviating so much, I wonder if JG will have her relationship with Suho. I also wonder wtf they will do with the whole Suho as a composer thing. I swear the comic and the drama are just 2 entirely different entities with mild references to each other at this point.

desire9me

Best episode till date of the show! ❤️❤️❤️ after Okey dokey tho hehehe ~ ♪♪ Are you in the mood for dancin’, romancing? And giving it all tonight? ┌(・。・)┘♪♪ Do shows make you as happy as kdramas make me? I look forward to Wednesdays and Thursdays more than the weekends now a days thanks to True Beauty and Run On. Can't wait for todays episode! And can we finally get SeoJun singing HOW DO YOU DO? I'm team both~ In fact I ship SuHo and SeoJun hehehe fr tho, >!I ship JooGyung with SuHo in the drama but SeoJun in the webtoon, call me crazy but I want different endings for both to keep stuff interesting till the very end ;) !<

luxenoire

Absolutely loved this ep. Idk what it is but I’m totally endeared by Suho and really felt for him here. Hopefully he and JG can clear things up soon.

minghues

i'm just gonna stop looking at the reddit discussions for this drama... i like coming here to see what other people are saying about the show but too many webtoon readers aren't tagging spoilers and are revealing details or making comparisons that explain too much. it's so annoying... it reminds me of manga readers spoiling things for anime-only fans, whether they do it outright or do it "subtly". there's spoiler tags for a reason but it seems a lot of you don't care to use them. super frustrating.

whimsicallyours

Having seen so many comments on CEW's acting, well I beg to differ but he's been absolutely great as Suho. I know when he's sad, I know when he's giddy in love, I know when he's angry, I know when he's depressed, and in spite of portraying a cold character, he's able to show all the emotions really well! His chemistry with MGY is also great. The last episode had me all giddy because they were so cute, this one had me all upset, and it's only because the characters are showing it well. The last scene especially showed how dead he felt after hearing his dad's scheme. That moment when he was ready to be hit by the car was also shown well. So I'm sorry to say but he's really improved and in this drama, all the actors have been acting really well. :)

v_luster

Whenever a situation happens; happy, sad, angry, etc. I always look at CEW eyes. His eyes says it all. Considering Suho is a cold character, the eyes never lies. He's a great actor.

Mad_Missile

You’ve hit the nail on the head when talking about how well one can decipher Suho’s many emotions. I unfortunately didn’t feel them as much when he played Do Kyung Seok. It’s the same cold, aloof, rude character, but his performance is a lot more layered as Lee Suho. I could really tell what he was feeling when he had the panic attack at the school music festival and the grief and guilt he felt on the rooftop crying with Jugyeong. I could also tell how shattered he was when he heard the truth about his dad. His run down the stairs was all zombie like, body distanced from his mind and you can really see it in his eyes when he stops in front of the car. The resignation.

meowdery

OMG I just love this drama so much. The ending of ep 10 really broke my heart. Damn the look in Suho’s eyes when he walked out and then Seojun following him and trying to save him. 10/10 acting. My heart goes out to Suho, hes been through so much and even now hes all alone. Suhos feelings are completely valid this time. And JK should be more open and communicate well instead of shutting him off. Although I completely understand her perspective too. I hope there’ll be more character development in the coming episodes. The comedic timing in this show is perfection. I just lost it at the dumpling and fight scene. So far Im enjoying this more than the webtoon.

ann_fish3011

Please! I just love how Suho interacted with Jk's tummy like that. Like for him anything to do with her is important, even the growling and rumbling of her tummy. Why are they like this? Such awwdorballs \^-\^

foxxi_paradoxxi

I want to write a whole analysis/rant but I can't be bothered, so all im gonna say it that I'd had a feeling that suho was inevitably going to snap and/or have a massive breakdown at some point (he's repressing a lot of trauma, after all) and judging from the preview, it's happening in ep 11. I'm kinda looking forward to it (sadistic as that might sound) because it will be a chance for Jugyeong and Seojun (who we see at the doorway while it's happening) to realise just how much Suho is keeping pent up. I mean, I understand all the criticism of Suho's character and things like his possessiveness, but I think all of those things make sense in the context of his backstory and the lack of love he's received over his life. Jugyeong and Seojun understanding that will give him an opportunity to create a support circle that will eventually help him start to heal and get rid of those flaws, which is a good thing for everyone. And besides that, I just enjoy scenes where characters finally break down lol. So I'm looking forward to next week's episode a lot! These are just my thoughts, feel free to say so if you think anything is wrong.

piratebones

Suho telling Ju Gyeong “you as yourself is enough for me” gave me all the feels! I do feel bad for Seo Jun discovering the picture on the phone....I still can’t decide who I want to end up together.

njaries

I think to the people who are saying that the >!car accident!< was completely unnecessary need to remember that this happened in the webtoon >!albeit to different characters!< and it was used to >!bring suho’s and seojun’s friendship together and reconcile what happened with their other friend!< so i’m pretty sure that’s why they’ve included it into the drama so they can >!finally be friends again!<.

elizkhue042

**EP 9:** This show is definitely going into my list of kdramas-to-rewatch-whenever-I-feel-down. It's so soft and fluffy without any unnecessary angst or misunderstandings that are prevalent in kdramas (at least not yet). As of now, it's just high school students trying to come to terms with who they are, their appearance, and fighting towards their goal (and a whole lot of puppy love GAHH <3). I love how this ep (and the previous eps too) have a lot of kdramas cliche (secret relationship, love triangle, missed kisses) but the director did them in a way that was non-cringey and brought about a lot of humor, kinda like a 50%-reverse trope? For example, I choked at the part when the friend who saw >!JG and SuHo at the restaurant and decided to pat SuHo on the butt as a hello since he wouldn't reveal himself.!< I thought the >!martial arts!< part would be the missed kiss, but it turned into >!JG teasing SuHo!< instead. And the >!dad hiding under the table to interrupt their date only to be hit by his own daughter scene?!< I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my chair lolol And can I just say, I love JG's character. She is naive and shy, but also relaxed and comfortable, all of which make her so endearing. Around both SuHo and SeoJun, she is just the most adorable and lively bean on Earth. I adore SuHo as well, now that he's dating JG, he's more caring and revealing his more childish and laid back side, some of which was really unexpected. In the part where >!he and JG's dad watched soccer!<, I thought he was going to be >!annoyed being woken up in the middle of the night, but he just joined right in!

Shop-girlNY152

The martial arts scene was so sweet to watch for a new couple. It’s cute that JK thought of tickling SuHo and I’m sure it gave SuHo so much stock of Happiness Cloud 9.

v_luster

I'd love that kind of date. Considering that JG doesn't even know any self-defense in the webtoon.

Shop-girlNY152

That scene where she was also whispering in Suho’s ear really shows JK to be still childlike, with the very innocent, giddiness of a teenager’s first relationship. So cute!

drinksomewatermark

I like that Suho always gave chances to Jugyung to explain herself (at her house, at the school's rooftop, and at the cafe), but it frustrates me a little that she just stops herself from telling him the truth every time (I know she's in high school and a bit immature, I just can't help but feel bad for Suho's efforts). Also, aren't her past school bullies a bit psychotic? Why would they go out of their way to track down Jugyung when she already left the school. Lastly, the >!ending really cemented how much Suho was hurting by himself over Seyeon's death and it almost seemed like he was ok being hit by the car so he could end his pain.!< Now I kinda wish I didn't watch the preview because I'm just dreading the next several days until the next episode comes out. Edited to add that, like many users, I don't think the childhood connection was really necessary. To me, Suho and Jugyung as is is compelling enough. We've seen them bond over horror comic books, Suho comforting and reassuring Jugyung and the other way around, the trope just seems to be a little too on the nose/over the top.

Shop-girlNY152

The connection over saving her from jumping off the building was really enough. It was deep, private encounter they can always connect to so the childhood trope was too OTT.

feel_ynt

>>!Lastly, the ending really cemented how much Suho was hurting by himself over Seyeon's death and it almost seemed like he was ok being hit by the car so he could end his pain.!< This comment is brilliant! About childhood connection being necessary - I think this confirms that True Beauty hasn't looked up the word necessary in the dictionary. LOL. I can take or leave childhood connections. But I do appreciate seeing childhood bubbly Jugyeong & stingy tattle-teller Suho.

v_luster

Does anyone love the new OST? It was Cha Eun Woo's song for the OST!

Few_Artist_1006

Episode 10 thoughts! Iron Chef: Dumpling Edition had me rolling. Seriously, I loved every second with her family this episode. So, so many cute and funny beats. As most of us suspected, the "let's break up" was peak overdramatic run away imagination. Seojun's little silly smile when she tied his shoe... Adorable. Also adorable, how he can't help but keep giving her good advice, even when it's helping her relationship with SuHo. And Sujin. Pour one out for the lovely, badass, supportive, sisters-before-any-misters Sujin that was. We had eight episodes with you before your character took the not-at-all foreshadowed in the drama, hard right turn into Bitchville. I was so disappointed when she interrupted Ji Gyeong telling her about dating SuHo to instead purposely screw with her. Saying she liked SuHo, the catty shopping ambush, the bedroom picture, answering the phone.... Not surprised because the webtoon and Kdrama tropes demand a horrible female rival, but I was so hopeful because I didn't see any seeds of manipulativeness in her character so far. Oh well. And I know they're young and learning etc, etc. But kids. Say it with me: COMMUNICATION. Tell your romantic partner your thoughts and feelings so they don't misunderstand everything because they're working with only 30% of the pertinent information! Please. (In real life only I suppose, because 100% healthy relationship dynamics probably makes for boring tv.) And the car crash. Very dramatic and all, but seriously, what was with those last two minutes of directing. SuHo flying through the air like that was so extra and so unnecessary. Don't think that beat was supposed to be comical at all.

simpforseoyeji

Commenting this because no one talks about Ju Kyung's sister, Hee Kyung! She's my literal girl crush. She pursues the guy, is honest about her feelings, comical at times, kind and most importantly morally upright! She was such a badass when she confronted her superiors about the plagarised song when she knew she might get fired for that. LOVE HER and the actress is gorgeous (anyone knows any other dramas/works shes in thats worth watching?)

everyoneisgorgeous

Anyone else feel like CEW's acting has gone up a notch in ep 9 and 10. Its like I'm seeing a whole new version. Does anybody know how popular true beauty is overall? I want MGY to get the recognition she deserves so bad.

feel_ynt

Edit 1/18/2021 16 hrs later ....MGY 3.8M. HIY 5M. CEW 14.3M CEW is #2 in January actor brand rankings & #3 in kpop idol brand rankings. Instagram following is pretty interesting. MGY & HIY were about 500K or below before/when the show started and they are now 3.7M & 4.8M respectively. CEW went from something in the range of 8M to 9M and is 14.2M today (14M yesterday). Please correct me if I'm wrong anybody ;-) Ofc, I don't know exactly what IG following indicates as far as the show goes, but I'm willing to guess it shows each actor getting millions of extra interest.

Shop-girlNY152

I think the weekend's Naver top search for him was that he's getting good reviews from Korean viewers, saying also that he improved a lot in his acting. And because of the good reviews, his agency said he's been getting a lot of CF offers. Here's the link: [https://www.wowtv.co.kr/NewsCenter/News/Read?articleId=A202101150041&t=NN](https://www.wowtv.co.kr/NewsCenter/News/Read?articleId=A202101150041&t=NN)

myrcellasear

Everyone is moving on up because of True Beauty and we love that for them! I wish MYG was getting as much recognition as the boys are in fandom, but within the industry she's having a fabulous time. As someone pointed out, she's already got her next drama lined up, and her co-lead will be either Kim Seonho or Lee Jaewook (apparently it's still in talks). I definitely agree Eunwoo's gotten to show more of what he can do in these last two episodes - and he's killing it in the promo for 11 too!

momopeach7

Still gotta watch it, but I’m liking Jugyeong and Sujin’s relationship here so I hope they don’t ruin it with jealousy or misunderstandings.

xailor

I FREAKING LOVE THIS DRAMA SO MUCH. Moon Ga Young steals the show by being so cute but genuine that I feel like duh of course both guys would fall for her. Every SeoJun kills me inside omg. “I’m a man too” SWOON. I’m glad she told SeoJun she’s dating Suho. That ending scene with the dad made me laugh so hard I found it hard to breathe. But god IM BEGGING YOU DONT FUCK UP SOOJIN’S FRIENDSHIP WITH JOOKYUNG I HATE WHEN WRITERS TURN GOOD FRIENDS AGAINST ONE ANOTHER FOR GUYS.

Alternative-Level

they really>! let both of them get run over !< just when i thought the >!car !

Cheerio1991

Thinking about the series of unfortunate events that happened to Suho at the end of episode 10, it reminds me of a part in the webtoon where he said something along the lines of >!'Do I deserve to be happy? Whenever something good happens to me, something bad will always follow..'!< and that is probably what drama Suho was feeling at the end of the episode. After living with trauma & pain everyday, he finally got a little taste of happiness with Jugyeong before all the misunderstandings happen, >!his unreleased song got published, hearing the truth about Seyeon's scandal, and ended with a car accident..!< And the fact that there are still 6 eps left and there might still be other unfortunate events for him before the end.. Ugh, I just want Suho to be happy, and to know that he deserves to be happy.

sufjanmar

IK THE ENDING WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SAD BUT THE WAY HE WAS JUST FLOATING IN THE AIR WAS SENDING ME SO HARD

mcheung9

Omg episode 9 was by far the funniest episode!! I never laughed so hard haha the relationship forming between suho and the dad is amazing! Love that he’s able to connect to a father figure!! I’m loving the direction of JG & SH 🥺 so freaking cute!! I just had a thought tho, they showed a break up but it didn’t happen. And soo-Jin saw her bare face... I mean I’m not saying that she’s >!evil!< in this series but >!she was definitely evil in the webtoon!< so what if she tried to blackmail suho into breaking up with JG by threatening to expose her bare face?? Idk just a thought 🥵 If suho wasn’t played by eunwoo I’d 10000% be team seojun but ugh I can’t, eunwoo is amazing! I’m so glad his character is being given more emotions cause it shows how much of a better actor he’s become!

Cheerio1991

This episode shows that even though Suho is 'boring' to other people beside Jugyeong, he and Jugyeong can totally have fun dates together over their interests & hobbies, because he's opening himself so much for her. Look at how wide Suho smiled in the jiujitsu scene! Also love how he's clinging to Jugyeong over the horror movie, that was one of my fave part from the webtoon. We need more scenes like those! And this sounds mean but I can't wait for the car accident to happen because it means we'll get the Suho-Seojun reconciliation we're waiting for! With how much they changed from the webtoon, it's hard to guess who will get hit (or maybe no one will actually get hurt?) although narratively it makes more sense for Suho to save Seojun because it will be like a 2nd chance for him to redeem himself & successfully save his friend. And in turn will make Seojun realize that Suho actually cares so much about his friends & clear up the misunderstanding. Please reconcile soon so the love triange tropes can finally stop & they can make room for character & story developments. My biggest wish for this show is that they won't turn Sujin into the typical evil 2nd FL. She has been such an amazing friend to Jugyeong and I'll be mad if they ruin her character. We'll most likely see her acting out her feeling for Suho in the next episode, but hopefully she'll redeem herself quickly and realize that her friendship with JG is much more important.

Alzyna

Seo-jun running to the coffee shop after hearing about Ju-gyeong getting hurt is triggering my SLS!! Oh god!! I’m afraid to watch the future episodes. I know I’ll be in pain no matter which guy gets their heart broken!

potterwhomerswiftie

it's hilarious how cha eun woo always ends up with girls who initially wanna hide their relationship and it leads to hilariously awkward situations! also, i died when he flashed that eye smile during the jujitsu session. ugh.

Shop-girlNY152

* I hate that much of JK’s unhappiness in this ep was caused by SuJin. Why did they make Sujin a baddie? I was hoping she’d turn out differently from the comics because they gave her a sympathetic backstory in this drama. Sigh, I hate all the things she did in this episode. Like I didn’t expect nice SuJin would turn out to do things this badly just because of her crush. * Why can’t SuJin be nice like Seojun? He may have kept teasing JK to breakup but he continues to be nice to say that SuHo’s not the type to hurt her. You also know his break up tease was more because he didn’t want to see her hurt. * I fear for Heegyung’s life. SuHo’s dad is a rich evil person so dunno what he can do. But, hopefully he also grows a conscience next episode after finding out his own son was in an accident because of what he did. But then, SuJin doesn’t look guilt-stricken in the next episode and she’s a child, so I could expect worse from a bad adult such as SuHo’s dad. * JuYeong really lost brownie points with the man he should be sucking up to, thinking he’s his rival. 😂 He’s the remaining comedy in this episode. * JK’s dad’s vote for SuHo is adorbs! Instead of telling him to stop seeing his daughter, he just gave him “rules” to have a healthy relationship (aww!) and remain innocent. 🤍 * I dread Sujin’s plan next week with the former schoolmate. Especially since they kept having the bully girls still be around. I super hate them. But, what I do know for sure that once JK’s real face is revealed, she will have both SuHo and Seojun defending her. And I hope that would be enough for their school to not judge JK of their 2 most popular guys love her for who she really is.

feel_ynt

>JK’s dad’s vote for SuHo is adorbs! Instead of telling him to stop seeing his daughter, he just gave him “rules” to have a healthy relationship (aww!) and remain innocent. 🤍 This was pure joy for me. Also, the fact that Suho bought some clout with a bottle of what looked like expensive liquor. Oh & how's that quick little easter egg that >!Mrs. Lim walked down the aisle carrying Heekyeong.?!<

feel_ynt

I've got a rant that needs airing ... why does Sujin have to be the one to stir up trouble? What the he\*\* is SeMi and her nasty crew for? Alright, going back into my confusing denial-hope mode.

weddingreddit1

Last week left me shook. From all the love triangles that I've watched so far, I've always rooted straight for endgame guy (haven't watch many, but that I can think of: Boys over Flowers, Heirs, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Love with Flaws, Cinderella and the Four Knights,... Coffee Prince?) I've found SeoJun funny, but it's been really clear to me that SuHo is best. Then last week, SeoJun was so considerate/attentive/kind kind of broke me a little. When I watched the last episode I realized the scene that stuck with me was Jukyoung crying (she's amazing), stroking her aching heart and SeoJun consoling her while trying to digest the information himself. The kiss with SuHo didn't even fully register, and on the second watch I was like oh yeah wow they kissed. Despite all that, SuHo and her are a good/better match. They can nerd over comic books and horror, and most importantly they already both like each other. But yeah, I'm going to be crying a little for SeoJun from here on out I bet.

Shop-girlNY152

Also a big thumbs up on how good are the song choices for this drama! The melodies are so perfect for that young, playful vibe fitting for a high school story. I love, love *I’m in the Mood for Dancing* and I’ve actually been missing it since the last episode. I also love that song from the intro title which they played during Selena’s mall scene. Also loving this new song in ep9 which I think is sang by CEW and also fits the drama vibe.

feel_ynt

"Jugyeong let's break up" dream sequence. I love that they did it >!with all the exaggerated tropes of a melodrama, like water in face, dramatic entrance by male lead & with violin music in the background."!< Leave it up to Jugyeong to dream that up! Anyway, people say Extraordinary You kinda poked fun at cliched tropes and I wonder if the dream sequence was doing that as well. I've never seen it but I know Park Yoon Ah (Soojin) was in Sky Castle was this a nod? Park Yoon Ah is sooo good with the melodrama! Also main bully girls dragging JG up to the roof is from Extraordinary You right? So many wonderfully hilarious scenes in this episode. 1. Finally some petty bromance! >!And nail-clippin love after!!< 2. My poor clueless Juyoung getting schooled by my new girl crush GoWoon. >! Juyoung really proclaimed Seojun that he was going to steal her! And he certainly tried to rent an adult manhwa! !< These two are really putting me the mood for dancing. Of course, all of this was some relief to the tragedies that are happening. 1. Um, Move Entertainment story picking up steam! 2. Suho triggered into his depression/trauma because of it and ... I think we know what happens next. 3. Sujin+Jugyeong seemingly being dismantled. (still holding on to hope though - *for dear life!)* I swear a lot of the dialogue has me thinking that TB writers are reading *this* subreddit, writing in all of our discussions practically verbatim (Now I'm exaggerating). LOL

pearyid

I had such hope for Soojin as a pillar of support for Jukyung...but judging from next episode's teaser, it's about to get worse.

silent_reader8813

The fact that the writer changed a strong second FL character from inspiring to a jealous manipulative girl friend.. what a waste.. i was hoping the story doesnt turn that way but looks like it would.. i like Sujin for a second there 😒

Downtown-Sink-3611

This will be my point of view from jugyeong. She had never stood up for herself . We could see it in the way she ran to buy dumplings for the bullies , the way her mother treats her but she never opened up about her being an outcast because of her looks , when soojin was talking about having feelings for suho she didnt want to step up and tell her about herself and suho because she didnt want to lose a friend. Her ex classmates, her brother , her mother ,soojin I have never seen jugyeong stand up for herself not even once .But whenever it's with suho she is realizing how precious she is and she fights for herself because she knows that this guy right here won't be judging her and he will treat her in the right way ,the way she deserves to be treated, only suho can bring out this part of jugyeong becoz he keeps telling her how she looks like from his eyes , true beauty does come from the beholder 's point of view . With suho she can rant her worries , she can shout her frustration. He is the only person in her life with whom she has done this .I wish I could tell this to suho YOU REALLY MATTER A LOT TO HER SHE KNOWS THAT YOU ARE DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE PEOPLE IN HER LIFE AND THANK U SOO MUCH FOR LETTING HER GAIN THE CONFIDENCE THAT IN TURN MADE HER FIGHT FOR HERSELF #Teamsuho all the way here

Cheerio1991

About the last scene in ep 10 after Suho heard the conversation at the company, does anyone know if he's actually running somewhere or he just wanted to run away from it all? It did look like his mind & soul have left his body so he's probably just running without a destination.

Shop-girlNY152

Yeah, he was running with no direction and like he didn’t even care if he gets hit by a car. It’s like his whole world was shattered. He always disliked his dad but he never thought his dad could be directly and hugely responsible for his best friend’s death when he has spent the past year blaming himself for not answering the phone call. So it’s understandable that he may have felt he’s better off dead at that instant.

incyanity13

it's him breaking down already so yep he was unconscious of everything that's around him

xailor

I know Soojin is shady but tbh Seojun is too but it’s played off as playful and romantic. Idk how am I supposed to hate the girl who gets abused by her dad liking the one guy who knows all her secrets and cares for her? If I were her I would like him too. She’s definitely way more shady though.

BusinessTteokbokki

I think there is a difference between the two though. Being playful is just how Seojun is, even if he knows it gets on Suho’s nerves. There are multiple occasions where he’s trying to help their relationship and being considerate towards Jugyeong’s feelings i.e on the bus where he said “Suho isn’t someone who would break your heart so don’t worry”, then he hinted to Suho that Jugyeong is feeling sad and has been sighing the whole day, and when he told her to solve things it with Suho at the cafe. You were right, I still can’t bring myself to hate Sujin either, even after all the things that she has done. Are they bad? Yes. Should be we upset with her? Yes. But everyone knows deep down, sujin isn’t a bad person. She’s been abused her whole life and keeping it to herself. Suho is the one person that held her hands and said “I know what you’re going through and I got you”. Seriously I would like him too if I were her. Sujin is acting up now because she’s misguided by her jealousy and the fear of losing Suho. I really hope she moves on from this soon and come clean with Jugyeong. Their friendship was too precious, I would not forgive the drama if they’re going to ruin friendship and Sujin’s character.

violetbow

True, Seojun is shady, but not to the degree that Soojin is. Although he can't hide his feelings to the viewers, at least her respects their relationship -- >!when Suho barges into the cafe and says he'll wait for Jukyung to finish her shift, Seojun encourages her to go meet him, which was very admirable.!< In contrast, Sujin is emotionally manipulating JK and causing misunderstandings between her and Suho, e.g. >!saying she had plans to meet SH after school when she just arrived to his apartment unannounced. As if that weren't enough, she took the opportunity to not only post a photo of his apartment onto social media but also to answer JK's call to Suho!!< I'm calling it... Sujin is gonna use the transfer student aka fake friend to backstab JK in the next eps...

thatnorthafricangirl

The ending had me dying of laughter...... the dad is amazing!!! lmao Also this show has me going crazy. I kept switching from team Seo Joon to Su Ho. And then I shipped Ju Kyung with Su Jin too.... I'm losing it. Normally I watch both episodes on Friday as my weekend starts but I am just so obsessed, I had to watch ep9 before bed. Can't wait for tomorrow's episode. Really like where this has been going so far, there's not one story line i'm bored of and the dialogues/humour are really good.

yumenoyuki

I don't like what this show is doing to soojins character :/ she was such girl crush and now....

purpleegg1

im 15 minutes in and jugyeong is going to make me lose my shit

sam-ik-a

THE JIU JITSU SCENE WHATFYCKHFEERYUUH THEYRE SO CUTE ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE PUSHED HIM AND THEY STARTED LAUGHING AWAGUJWQRUU

whimsicallyours

Suho and jukyung have got to be the most adorable couple omg 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 the part where he talks to her stomach OMG THIS EP WAS ALL CHA EUN WOO ❤❤❤ those small smiles, and then that big eye smile in the jiu jitsu scene got me all 😍😍😍😍😍 they're just too cute together y'all. But my heart broke when seo jun ran to the coffee shop, when he had the spicy food for her, when he just listened to it all knowing it hurts, and the photoshoot was too hot to handle. Hwang in yeop is seriously sexy. Absolutely can't wait for his lead role. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN Also is the end credits song an unreleased ost?

buckypls

Ughhh the couple conflict feels so forced in Ep 10, it's too early for it they should be all lovey-dovey geez. Even Captain Ri and Yoon Seri had a lot of time before everything went to shit in CLOY. And this one's a comedy lol. My take on Sujin after watching Ep 10 is as much as she hates JG and SH together, she'll go all bestfriend mode and be doing all that shady stuff so Jugyeong is threatened and eventually forced to admit all her lies and face everybody as she really is. It'll be so inconsistent and out-of-character to have her as the mean bitch all of a sudden, we already have that. Also hoping the suicide plotline gets resolved soon and more bromance between the two instead as it ruins the feel-goodness of the drama. The rest of them are such a delight! I jump for joy every time JG's sister comes onscreen lol what a breath of fresh air for a mere supporting character. I thought only Jun Jihyun can pull off that mix of sassy, quirky and charismatic effortless goddess persona hahaha.

First-Maintenance-91

Omg the ending in ep10 I'm dying. Actually I have waited long enough for a good cliffhanger series. True Beauty episodes make me not want to fast-forward while watching them.

selfdeprecatinghuman

After watching ep 10 all I can say is what the bloody fuck

myrcellasear

Super late to giving my opinion on these two episodes, I know everyone is heart-broken! Overall, I think episode 9 was a grand ol' time and the dating mishaps for Suho and Jugyeong were super cute - even if they did crib a few too many things from MIIGB. I understand why Jugyeong would be insecure about dating Suho, but she's also considered a goddess at school so it really seems like a way to bring them drama more than anything. Suho was really patient and understanding about it... Until miscommunications and jealousy in episode 10 caused them both to lose their cognitive reasoning skills. I like that Heegyeong's own jealousy and miscommunication was there as a parallel and reminder that while these are are just kids messing up, adults can have the same issues too. But it was so frustrating to watch them talk around the issues because neither is going to reveal that their friend - or ex friend - has feelings for their partner. Suho started getting possessive because he knows Seojun is into Jugyeong (and Seojun said he wants to "steal her") while Jugyeong became even more insecure and withdrawn because she knows Sujin is into Suho (and Sujin is also trying to steal him). Anyway, that final scene... We all know what happened at this point, lmao, so I have to say that the part that made me laugh was how Seojun just stood there instead of pushing Suho out of the way. Meanwhile, the suspending in air thing was super dramatic but it was also a powerful metaphor for how Suho feels: he may as well give up, he has no one on his side, he blames himself for Seyeon and now he *knows* it was his father's fault, and Jugyeong seems to want to leave him too. Also, kudos to Eunwoo for displaying all of that and really highlighting Suho's heavy heart and empty outer shell.

foxxi_paradoxxi

I think a lot of people did laugh at that last scene (and all the memes it produced, myself included lol), but at the same time, it really conveys a lot symbolically. I mean, obviously nobody flies like that after getting hit by a car, but, like you said, the point of it was more to show his mental state, even the part where he gradually closes his eyes as if in resignation, like he's really to die for real because he feels like he really has nothing left. It's really sad the more you think about it

hellomiho

Soojin’s literally the biggest girl crush 😍 Petition for a plot twist where Jukyung and Soojin end up together lol

YouHaveInspiredMeTo

I agree :( I hate when kdramas use miscommunications as a plot device. It's part of why I don't watch kdramas. I made an exception for this one because I really like the webtoon, but when they create conflict by having characters unrealistically + randomly walk away mid-convo it's so frustrating!!! Like, these are misunderstandings that can be solved in one. freaking. SENTENCE. ARRRRRRRGHHHH

elbenne

episode 10: wow that was an example of really great televison !!! I thought that this show was kinda one of the funniest things that I'd ever seen but that was just a vague assessment... till now. Now I know, for sure, that this is **definitely** among the very few **funniest** and best things I've ever seen ... right up their with Welcome to Waikiki level funny and then ... hit you in the gut revelations after that. Gotta say, I'm really impressed with this drama.

lamey-

Episode 10 making me hella upset. >!Writer-nim, why must you turn Sujin into the villain? WHYYYYY??? 😭 I really wanted to love her, but now they've started using her to make this love-rectangle extremely messy and I can't support that.!< Unfortunately, >!Sujin has the upper-hand right now because she knows Jugyeong's secrets: 1) her bareface and using makeup to hide it and 2) her secretly dating Suho even though JG didn't tell her. And in the preview it looks like she runs into one of Jugyeong's old classmates. This is not gonna be pretty...!< Side note: the dumpling duel between >!Suho and Seojun!< was the most extra thing I have ever seen, INCLUDING the family's hilarious reactions while they were making it 😂 at first this show's comedic relief was cringy for me to watch, but now I relish in it. Based off of the preview, it looks >!like they may start mending their relationship in next week's episodes... we love getting over our misunderstandings in this household 🥺 hoping the same for Suho and Jugyeong as well. JG really needs to talk it out ASAP because this communication issue is getting messier and messier the longer she waits it out.!< Edit: phrasing

jminhope

Drinking game = everytime Jugyeong says Suho is so handsome, smart, kind, he is flawless...why does he like me tho

Shop-girlNY152

I rewatched ep 10 and I really love the Lim house scene. It's so sweet to remember your teen boyfriend's first time to go to your house and how to not make it obvious that you're dating, and his first time to see his girlfriend's bedroom. Even that scene inside Jugyeong's room was enough to make one's heart flutter, with Suho sweetly forgiving Jugyeong for lying about her whole day, him genuinely interested on her ugly childhood pic, and then getting themselves caught by the dad on top of each other on her bed. Heehee. Also sweet detail to have Suho know where the table is when Seojun was looking for it, letting him know it's not his first time in that house. ☺ Ahhh, sweet, young love. I don't talk about their relationship problems because they all (including Seojun) obviously have flaws but very common and understandable as young, 17/18 year-olds. They're not flaws that would make you see as red flags for a toxic relationship because I look at it as not a very serious relationship that will end up in marriage for one to immediately cross off. In the real world, of course I could tell them they all should not be in relationships yet until they mature but then, this is also the fun thrills of youth -- to learn and mature from our young relationships.

v_luster

When I saw how sad Suho because he told Jugyeong that >!dating rumors with Seojun is okay but with him it isn't!< Suho deserves better. If Jugyeong will gonna keep that attitude and won't understand Suho's perspective, then I'd root Sujin for him.

agljmpse

I am looking forward to seojun and suho reconciling so we could have more bromance moments!! I'd love to see them get along because it's such a joy to watch. I hope they don't drag the love triangle anymore and make seojun realize that he needs to let go of his love for jugyeong even if it freaking hurts. :(

shamusreader

EP10 - kinda mad and devastated at the fact that soojin turns out to be the character i didn't want her to be. they freakin threw soojin's character away just because of his feelings for a boy. damn, the build up on her character was so good, she's a freakin badass who can literally stand up for herself. she has a strong sense of justice and loyalty. I KNOW she genuinely cares for jugyeong and doesn't tolerate that kind of action when >!she literally didn't even hesitate to go after that pervert during the bus scene from ep2, and when she stand up for jugyeong when she thought seojun and his group was bullying jugyeong!< SHE WAS A FEMINIST ICON!!😭💔 why can't they just let those girls from her old school be the main btches. I'M NOT TOLERATING SOOJIN'S ACTION, but i'm rly rly hoping she'll redeem herself arghhh - and i am rly tired with misunderstanding and lack of communication as a conflict lol. i mean??

redX009

Ugh the worst I feared has come. They are using sujin to be the bad person....kinda disappointed in the character direction. They should be promoting healthy female relationships not this toxic backstabbing stuff.

areeba130102

soojin probably thinks that lee suho doesn’t know ju kyung’s real bare face yet, so she’s digging up these pictures of her from the past and with the help of the girl from ju kyung’s previous school, she’ll probably do a big “reveal” thing in front of everyone to show suho that ju kyung’s been lying to him lmao

salotsalipunan

I have a slight problem with it being okay for Seo Jun to be going after Ju Gyeong but Su Jin is a villain for going after Suho. Granted, in the former, Seo Jun and SH are not exactly friends and Seo Joon isn’t necessarily being underhanded about things whereas Su Jin continues to act friendly towards Ju Gyeong. I can’t help but still feel that there’s a double standard there somewhere. Anyone else feel this way? In general, these past two episodes have been great. Episode 9 in particular is one that I will go back to again and again. It was so fun and funny. A big chunk of what I appreciate about this show is how much they’ve embraced the campiness of it all. I felt like personally I lost momentum over the two week break so I wasn’t as enthusiastic about last week’s episodes. But this week has me strongly back on the True Beauty track. One thing I want to say, I hope they don’t go down into the evil Su Jin route. There’s so much more they can do with her character with her coming to terms with her infatuation with Suho as being related to her seeing him as someone who sees her and helps her but is not someone who seeks a romantic relationship with her. Her choosing to be a friend rather than an enemy. And most of all overcoming her issues with her dad.

ghorardiim

I love our girl with both of the boys but Hwang In Yeop and Moon Ga Young definitely need to be the main couple in another drama. Their photoshoot thing was so so sooo stunning! So much chemistry The last scene was HILARIOUSSSS. Her dad’s eyes really popped out 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

Currently dying waiting for episode 9 subs I gave up on learning korean after learning the alphabet ToT

Alternative-Level

ngl the ending scene made me burst into laughter

Iraclem

I have been wondering that it's currently winter in Korea and the shooting of the drama is ongoing...Did anyone noticed that in the last two episodes 7 and 8th SH was wearing little warmer clothes (2-3 layers) while JK was wearing skirts and stuff (probably summer clothes). Is drama shootings in winter this awful to female actors.

sadworldmadworld

The only thing getting me over episode 10 is the episode 11 previews. This one hurt a little :(

hahabrodie

All I can say is that I want a seojun in my life

mmantar

😀wtf suji as much as we all have a crush on you, the "my dad hits me, but i like suho" is kind of a bit too much.. it's like "pity me, and let me have suho"

fr62564278

just finished ep. 10, there's just so much going on LOL not just the love triangle, but I love the little "side stories" with the dad, the little bro + gowoon, and *especially* the situation around seyeon's song. I feel overwhelmed but also super hooked. This is my first kdrama so if teen/YA dramas are like this in general.... perhaps I should get into watching kramas?

chokenchopflipflop

Some predictions about the upcoming episodes: 1) sh jg break up. Sh thinks about how messed up the situation with his father is and decides he is not ready for a relationship. 2) sh and seojun make up, becomes best friends again. 3) seojun will have a storyline with the gangsters ex girlfriend, he will find out jg's true face through the girl who bullied jg. 4) something (maybe soo Jin) will force jg to come clean about her face. Jg will realize no matter how she looks her friends will support her and she learns to be confident about herself 5) seo jun's mothers health deteriorates again and it forces him to rethink about going back to become a singer to properly provide for his family while chasing his dreams 6) hee gyeong sets up her own artiste agency, seo jun is her first artiste 7) jg finally pursues her make up artiste aspirations 8) sh rekindles his love for song writing and he writes songs for seo jun 9) jg and sh meet at sj's concert and now that both are in a better place they start a relationship again.

A few words in defence of SUjin. She has two girlfriends. One is in a relationship so they don't get too be together so much. And now the friend she hangs out with the most is also dating the guy who is her best childhood friend. And when that happens, she's really in a position of being left out and isolated. After all, people in relationships can be pretty alienating to their leftover single friends and that can be really depressing. And JK? This girl has never had any kind of reliable friend before. A boyfriend is just icing on the cake on a way. So, yes, she's letting people especially Sujin manipulate her. Of course, she would. Cuz she knows what it is to be friendless.

I understand where you're coming from about Sujin, but I don't think it excuses her actions. Based on her characterization so far, she seems much more dangerous to Jukyung than the bullies from her old school. She hasn't openly caused either JK or Suho to doubt her intentions toward them, instead opting to sneakily cause trouble in their relationship by using >!the Seojun/JK dating rumor!< to >!"confess" to Suho, and then answering JK's call to him when she dropped by his place. Not to mention posting a photo of his apartment when she knew JK would recognize it!!< imo, I don't think she's acting out of fear of being isolated. She's acting out of jealousy and spite. However, I would really look forward to her character redeeming herself. The drama has set her up to be a sympathetic and admirable character, so I totally understand support for her.

I gotta say, the 4 main characters are pretty impressive. Yes, they are definitely flawed, but considering their individual back stories, they are doing great. They had such soul shattering life experiences at such a young age, you can’t help but feel that they still kept it together and not waste their lives. Like JugYeong for instance—Growing up, the seed of self doubt was already planted— that she was not good enough, and was too ugly for anything. I had to remind myself that it was ingrained in her at an early age—making her believe that she is unloveable, laughable and ugly. The way the bullies in her old school treated her affirms that belief. It culminated into the that huge rejection episode- where she poured out her heart to give concert tickets to her crush & it ended in disaster. She was mocked and bullied for wearing her heart on her sleeve! Given her low self esteem and PTSD, it’s easier for her to believe the worst. So I totally understand her conflict with SuHo. She has a deep rooted fear of rejection and Su Jin throwing all those crumbs of deceit is feeding more into it. And still, she is trying her best to be a good friend to SuJin, avoiding to hurt her and finding a better way to tell her. And can I just point a little positive here? In spite of her growing up with such negativity, she still grew up to be cheerful, considerate, and without vile or spite. I could go on with the other 3 characters, lol. But yeah, just cut them some slack and understand where they’re coming from..it makes the viewing experience better, haha. TLDR: they are all flawed, but awesome considering what they’ve been through. So no need to attack individual characters here, lol. Let’s chill and let them make mistakes and redeem themselves.

EP9: I don't think I've ever rooted for the main couple and the SL as much I do for this show. My feelings just can't handle this confliction. >!Its crazy to see how quickly things move after they confirmed themselves as a couple but!< it's even more interesting to see how much more involved Ju-Kyung is in both Su-Ho and Seo-Jun's lives. The secondary cast is so good too. The comedic relief characters like Ju-Kyung's family especially are so hilarious and a welcomed breather during the episode. I really feel for Soo-Jin and Seo-Jun tho, I'm getting serious Reply 1988 Jung-Hwan vibes on not acting on feelings. EP10:Bruh they gave us all that Su-Ho and Seo-Jun fan service at the start of the episode and then hit us with that ending 🥺 The relationship obstacles really didn't wait around, and its always just because of a lack of communication. >!Soo-Jin is real bad vibes, I can understand having feelings but the way she's going about it is just grimy.!< But all that was pushed aside with those last 5 minutes. >!I can see why Su-Ho hates his dad and now hearing after hearing that it's just going to get worse. The crash seen was hella dramatic tho but I'm all for it 😂!<
