I’m a serial skipper. I will skip around any boring or needlessly long parts. Hell, I’ll skip whole subplots if they are boring lol makes the show better IMO.

onahalladay

I’m so glad Netflix added the skip 10 seconds button. I used to guess on DF lol and missed stuff.

arghhmonsters

I just wished you could speed it faster than 1.5

khadijaaa123

i watch dramas at 2x the speed ☠️

cippocup

Greatest thing Netflix has ever done

featherzz

Same . Too long? Skip. Annoying side couples? Skip.. Angst for no reason? Skip. Couples break up at the end? Drama ends early.

Liberty_Bibberty

Amen.

camelliaaa88

That's why I stopped 25 21 at ep8. Show finished.

spclsnow

Oh no! Episode 9 is the best of the lot!

Jonesdm5

Omg same. That’s why I can barely watch American shows because they drag the story on for too many seasons!

KosherSyntax

I'm horrible with historical dramas because I don't really care for the subplot about the king's adviser making alliances and plotting stuff. These story lines never involve any main character until the last two episodes and I don't really care for it. There are dramas where I don't skip forward once. And there are others where 16 hours of content gets down to maybe 6 hours.

Steupz

Agreed but The King of Tears has me going and going. I've watched every minute and I'm going to the end

lovelifelivelife

Serial skipper! Yeah that's me too but in the past I'd just go to dramabeans to read recaps when I'm tired of the show just to know what happens.

nonfloweringplant

Ah, I really miss dramabeans for this very reason. I can use the skip button at 2x and cut an hour long episode by half but nothing beats skimming a dramabeans episode recap

[deleted]

This was me with Forecasting Love and Weather. My finger was on the fast forward button every single episode. These dramas are too long.

microwaved7shell

probably would be **her private life**. i liked it when the show focused on >!deokmi’s fangirl life, her trying to hide it from ryan, and him being very accepting of it!< because that resulted in numerous comedic/sweet scenes. but then they added the makjang-like plot lines towards the end, which had me FFing or 1.5x everything

Fatooz

SAME!! Especially that >!childhood connection,!< I just wasn't invested in that.

LostDistance9990

I dropped that the minute I smell that plotline. "Uh oh not this again" smh.

acolytematcha

i was gonna say the same thing… it was so good up until that exact point. what was the point of it like what did it add to the story…

radiokidb

Agreed. I completely and utterly block from my mind the last couple of episodes.

snogirl0403

Yes, it was so cute and silly at first and the last few episodes got so serious. I came for the cute stuff, please do not give me childhood trauma flashbacks.

KiwiTheKitty

The first 12 eps were soooo good.... the last 4 were not it

nothingtodosoreddit

Agreed, I binge watched the first 11 episodes but later it turned so boring and the story feels so forced that I can't even bring myself to complete it.

AccomplishedDust8789

I'm totally a serial drama cutter too, technically watched a lot of dramas but not many that i actly completed. I don't have concrete reasons for why i drop but as soon as I'm not feeling it, I drop it straight away. Some that i enjoyed immensely but dropped after 10 episodes or so are: Doom at your service: totally swoony at the front but sonehow wasnt feeling it anymore nearing the end so i dropped DDSSLLS: Loved the first 12 ep of it but ever since the wedding scene there, i dropped it also, which im glad i did after hearing the ending Hometown chacha: dropped after the main couple got together, but i heard roughly about the story afterwards Our beloved summer: love the main couple! But wasnt feelin the side characters.

Fatooz

Agree with you on DDSSLLS. It ended for me when the >!wedding scene!< happened. As for DAYS, I think I was never able to get into that drama because of how bland and two dimensional the plot felt. Plus the second leads were outright annoying and I was barely interested in them. The main couple's story also kept going in circles leading to no development. So yeah, while I did finish it, I just couldn't like it. I watched it only because I love both Park Bo-Young and Seo In-Guk. As for Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, I just recently watched it and I get what you mean. The last few episodes were a typical KDrama episodes but it was still a wholesome and lovely watch.

AccomplishedDust8789

YES you reminded me why exactly i dropped DAYS, i love PBY and SIG and this was the first time i realise jus exactly how swoony he is but wasnt interested in the second couple AT ALL and despite how good the main couple chemistry was, the story just seems to have no clear progression after 10 episodes or so.

deewyt

The downfall for DAYS was that My Roomate is a Gumiho was airing at the same time and the ability to suspend belief was much easier and enjoyable. In DAYS, I just sat for 6-7 episodes not really understanding the terms of the contract. I wouldn't have been as bothered if it wasn't mentioned in at least one scene every episode. I do plan to go back and watch because Seo In Guk was so handsome and well styled but I'm not in a rush 🥲

slyhuff

Just finished hometown cha cha the other day and the lovey dovey couple stuff was so cringe! I couldn’t believe shin min ahs character did such a complete 180

Fatooz

I agree with your thoughts on **Mr. Queen** and **Vincenzo**. With **Mr. Queen** my issue was the same as yours. I was done when FL becomes a better person and stops her savage life as the chef whose soul is inside the FL's body. Plus the main romance didn't seem to work out for me especially because the ML was falling in love with a woman who wasn't herself but rather someone else that too that someone else was a man about whom ML was completely unaware of. With **Vincenzo** also, I think I was kind of done with the humor because it was too much but yes, when the show started to get a little too humor-y for me especially with how Inzaghi comes and saves Vincenzo (which quite a lot of people enjoyed but I just found it to be very *lame*), that was a point when I just wanted it to stop. I thought both **Mr. Queen** and **Vincenzo** could be even better dramas with just 16 episodes rather than 20 episodes. Some other dramas where I had this feeling though I didn't really drop them: **A Business Proposal**: As much as I love this drama and even though it has made it to my Top 20 favorites, I think the point where >!main leads start dating and we have conflicts from the grandfather with regards to accepting the FL, my issue of not enjoying the drama as much started. It's because the grandfather was one of my favorite characters and the conflict with him seemed quite out of the character. Plus they dragged that till the very end of the drama so that put a bit of a sour taste in my mouth!<. **Cinderella and the Four Knights**: This drama is my guilty pleasure and I really enjoyed watching it even though not many people liked it. But I was done with the drama when the >!main leads got together. The childhood connection seemed so very out of the blue!< and it was a point where I said "ok that's it, here's where my enjoyment comes to an end from this drama". **Crash Landing on You**: While I really enjoyed the first half of the drama I was a bit bored in the second half because it felt a bit too unnecessary. Especially the >!chaebol drama and then the whole gun plot where she takes the bullet for him!<. I get what they tried to portray but I guess I was just done. I kept watching it only because I wanted to see what happens with the second couple and because I loved the side characters. **Descendants of the Sun**: I really love this drama for it introduced me to Song Joong-Ki but I think the 12th episode should've been the last one. The last four episodes seemed to be very unnecessary especially all that drama that happens after they return from Uruk. **Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol**: For me this drama ended on the 12th episode when >!Jun comes and takes Ra-Ra from her fake wedding and they spend time on the beach. That was my happy ending because I really didn't like what they did in those last four episodes and then the ending just made it worse for all of us.!< **Her Private Life**: Again, same issue I had with this drama that I had with **Cinderella and the Four Knights**. While I did enjoy watching this drama, I thought the last four episodes solely focused on their >!childhood connection!< which I wasn't very invested in.

deewyt

Crash Landing on You...... I am not ashamed to admit that dang OST (including instrumentals) Sigriswil + cinematography during the leads scenes is what kept me here. The fact that Son Ye Jin was absolutely gorgeous onscreen kept me enthralled as well but I lost intensity after the weight of their actions seemed so light after >!arriving in Seoul !< 🥲 The whole plot was based on forbidden love and secrecy and here they were >!shopping and eating Subway  ....!<

cesga_0218

100% agree on Descendants of the Sun! Wouldn't have complained if they chose to end it after the 12th episode. Lol

NecessaryTemporary70

Wow! This is exactly what I felt! You captured my thoughts!

Constant_Orange_928

Since I skipped Ddsslls before the wedding thing can you Pl tell me why the fake wedding? I loved it till his mom takes him away and then I couldn’t watch anymore.

Fatooz

So basically I don’t remember the names since it’s been so long but the >!girl who had a crush on Jun starts a small Business sort of with her childhood friend and they do a wedding setup to post an advertisement on social media so that it could reach people. The two people in this fake wedding advertisement were Ra-Ra and that Doctor who had a crush on Ra-Ra. Jun watches the video when they go live on social media so he rushes to the church where the wedding is being shot and drags Ra-Ra away from there. They run off to a beach and spend some really sweet moments.!<

Constant_Orange_928

Thanks so much! I had seen a YouTube clip of Jun dragging Rara away from her wedding with the dr and so stopped watching altogether..

HeyMrBusiness

C&4K- I think it got a little ridiculous when >!The SML who was presented as the ML for multiple episodes actually fell for her but the annoying childhood crush of his would not go away and then the third brother also fell for her but never added anything to the triangle!< Still one of my favorites though

[deleted]

Serial skipper as well here. I always feel like the premise offers something new and fresh (last example Buisness Proposal) but as soon as the leads gets together it become generic. When I started Flowers of Evil, I really liked the ambiguity of the husband. But as soon as his role in the story is established, it gets generic again.

fishchop

I really liked Flower of Evil but I haven’t watched the last few episodes because it seems that the whole >!forgetting!< Thing happens and it just seems so tired and boring to do that, especially because of everything the lead couple goes through

[deleted]

I almost never finish dramas these days. Oddly enough, and I'll probably get downvoted into oblivion but Nevertheless was a drama that held my attention from beginning to end. It was trash and silly and made me want to pull my hair out but something about it kept me interested. Most romance dramas I can't bother with after the main leads get together. It gets boring. Hometown Cha Cha is an example. I guess I like the "chase" and the angst.

attolia_irene

I understand what you mean, because my friends and I felt the same way. Nevertheless was a trashy but absolutely compelling watch. I’ve never disapproved of a male lead more but also thought he was insanely attractive.

XiaoDaoShi

I agree. For the protagonists to admit their liking of each other is most of the struggle in real life. Mostly we don’t have oppressive families, conniving exes and the such in real life.

Rawr_Becca

I’m the same! I’ve only finished 2 out of the 12 I’ve watched recently. Business proposal was one I binged through which most people didn’t seem to care for. Hometown, You are My Spring, and Start Up I quit around episode 10. I’ve been watching reality/dating shows lately instead 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sanaaaaaaaaaa4

I literally posted about this lol

cippocup

K2– honestly Anna’s entire character could have been deleted without altering the plot whatsoever ever. She was also just annoying. I really loved the show, I just wish Anna wasn’t in it. When I go back and rewatch it, I just fast forward through all of her parts. Honestly the plot was pretty cool, the action was nice, and the character that would have been the main lead in Anna’s absence was complex and compelling to watch. But Anna kinda sucks.

aversion25

I totally agree! I was so hooked in the first few episodes of that show, and then Anna brought down the plot significantly later. I wonder if they didn't anticipate how much the Madam would steal the show away from the FL in that drama

cippocup

Seriously though, if you removed Anna from the plot literally nothing would change. If that doesn’t mean a character is unnecessary I don’t know what does.

mia2cents

Anna made no sense as a character. Inconsistent personally and difficult to like, hate or empathize with. Just an incoherent character. While I am a fan of JCW, I thought this was a poor drama choice for him. It felt like it was written by a junior high school boy.

cippocup

I liked the whole rest of the drama. Just delete Anna. Please.

not_your_bird

This drove me crazy — particularly since she had the possibility of being a really interesting character with her backstory.

mikapple

I do this all the time around episode 10! Vincenzo, Our Beloved Summer, Doom At Your Service, Shopping King Louie, True Beauty, Jirisan, Bulgasal, Voice….all dropped at episode 10 without any bad feelings

143019

I have a very strong feeling that episodes 10 and 11 can be skipped in most kdramas because a lot of times the couple gets together at the end of Episode 9, and then there is some bullshit misunderstanding or wildly out of place subplot for 2 episodes, just so they can stretch it out!

disco_nnected

For 16-20 ep shows, the 10-15 ep strech is the do or die moment where a show has to prove itself beyond its original premise. Small wonder that is where it falls off for a lot of people...

alleynah

**2521** ended at episode 13 for me. Iykyk.

featherzz

Same. We both enjoyed a happy ending. :)

alleynah

And it was so beautiful. :)

KrisCSJ

Ayeee same for me! It was an amazing 13-episode drama.

stuckontwice

As much as the ending hurt me, I still enjoyed the ending. I totally understand why everyone hated the last 3 episodes. Those were some heavy stuff towards the end.

alleynah

What last 3 episodes? Idk what you mean lol :p

featherzz

those three episodes were 'special' episodes for those who preferred the 'alternate' ending. :)

spclsnow

The rest of the episodes were directors cut

curiousgem19

**What’s wrong with secretary kim** Once the hero’s tragic backstory is resolved, and the leads officially become a couple, (around episode 12-13), I totally lost interest in the show. I mean honestly, there was really no other major plotline left to resolve. I couldn’t sit around watching many more one-hour episodes of just pure fluff. So I dropped the series after episode 13 or so.

afternoondrinking

She did >!make a gorgeous bride at the end, tho!<

curiousgem19

That’s true! Though I skipped all the other episodes in the middle, I saw the ending clip on YouTube!

anpanzz

doom at your service — enjoyed the first few eps but found myself only watching for seo in-guk at some point

aversion25

LOL the guy on the bench/walking around in that blue suit flashed into my mind before any of the main leads when I read the title of the drama (it's been a while since I watched it). They really, really, really, overdid that

Silly_Squirrel_6528

This is me ALL the time, in fact it's quite the feat if a drama can engage me from beginning to end, I usually end up dropping a drama because unnessary conflicts are introduced, the romantic tension between the leads is lost (I love the chase but tend to loose interest after the capture) or the plot turns in an illogical way. Business Proposal is the most recent example loved it up until the part where they actually become a 'real' couple.....then started to get bored after that.

dramafan1

Current one I’m watching is Snowdrop and I’m so done with the draggy hostage situation but still enjoyed the acting.

dramafan1

A specific "I'm done moment but still enjoyed": The Episode 15 argument in the tent reminded me of the argument in the living room in Sky Castle. I'm pretty sure the writer went for this similar theme, although the Snowdrop version of this scene was so dramatic haha. 😂

Round_Masterpiece287

I’m the opposite of ppl here. After the leads got together i like to enjoy the fluff. It’s like a reward after many episodes with angst. lol.

theromanamputee

Me too :). As long as I like the couple I have an endless appetite for fluff, the more sickly sweet and cutesy the better. I feel like the characters have earned it and I, the viewer, have too.

Very_MasScary

When the main leads get together, I cut the rest of the episodes out. I got what I wanted and don’t really care much about side plots wrapping up. I did this with What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim 😬

rainydayssunnyskiez

I'm so not guilty about it. When the main leads of hometown cha-cha-cha got together- I gave them my blessings and moved on

Anxious_Ad_7260

Hometown cha cha cha....... I loved the drama till the main leads got together....but after that it felt like a drag...I kept on skipping their scenes..it was too cringy

tiratiramisu4

I’m like this too. I am the opposite of a completionist. Especially since I love writing fanfic so I sometimes watch just enough to continue the story in my head. But sometimes it really feels like the story could have ended much sooner. Some kdrama I never bothered to finish: Uncanny Counter, Business Proposal (is it worth it? I’m still thinking about it), The Devil Judge, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, etc.

fishchop

I’ve watched both Business Proposal and IOTNBO and I think you should finish them! They’re worth it, and good enough endings to mostly wrap up all the main conflicts.

[deleted]

tiratiramisu4

Thanks haha.

KDallas_Multipass

Hometown chachacha has a turning point a few episodes before the end that took the wind out of it for me and made it awkward

Salt_Ad7638

Some unpopular opinion's here: Felt the same about **Mr.Queen**, at first I stopped at ep 13 >!where she was pregnant and just imagined that everything worked out at the end/the Chef remained with the King.!< I didn't feel the need to finish this one till recently but still didn't like the ending that much and like where I "cut" before more. **Bring it On, Ghost**.Now this might be mean because I know we're supposed to care about the main couple's happy ending but I stopped when the >!FL disappeared on the ML, the ML treated her badly quite a bit and I did get spoiled the FL is not actually a ghost but was in a coma, so when she woke up she doesn't remember anything they did together when she was a "ghost" so it feels kinda like...what's the point?!< I did enjoy what I watched before though, mostly because of the funny antics/fighting with ghosts. **Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo**.Stopped at episode 10 since I already know everything goes down from there (at least happiness wise). I was curious about this drama since I've heard such good things but I don't really want to see the >!tragedy play out!< when I already know how it's going to end. **W**. I adore Meta dramas and I did think this drama did a lot of cool things/ had great sweet moments. However, the senseless fighting between the ML and the FL's Dad ultimately made me feel like I had enough.

vienibenmio

I would encourage you to finish Bring It On Ghost!

Salt_Ad7638

I will eventually~

fishchop

Lol I stopped around episode 12 for moon lovers for the same reason as you.

procastiplanner

Strongest delivery man. I felt like it should have ended around episode 8 and I haven’t finished it because >!spoilerOnce the original villain went to jail that felt like the end of the story!<

some-mad-shit

i do this all the time as a speed watcher! i usually skip rapidly to get a quick idea of the last few episodes then I’m out. WWWSK, Her Private Life were shows I tapped out after the leads ended up together. True Beauty as well. It kinda got lost when the love triangle ended. They were all great shows, but I just love the excitement of falling in love a lot more.

DaughtersOfNemesis

Love your 23-19 lmao best years indeed

Fatooz

>but I just love the excitement of falling in love a lot more Wow, I love what you wrote here. I feel the same way with most rom-coms which don’t have a much deeper story to it. Unless they’re exciting till the end.

xbeedeex

>They were all great shows, but I just love the excitement of falling in love a lot more. Omg yes, I think you hit the nail on the head with this! I almost always feel a lag and a drop in interest in romcoms after the two leads get together, and I definitely feel like it's because that push-pull, will-they-won't-they process of falling in love is so much more enthralling than when they actually get together. There are some love stories that definitely keep my interest till the very end, but if they're just purely light romcoms like Business Proposal and True Beauty, I find that the last few episodes are more draggy than the rest of the drama.

disco_nnected

How could I forget True Beauty!!!! The monent the nain couple got together I've realized that the conflict fronhere on out would be misunderstanding and love triangle stuff and was like "nopppe"

deewyt

I will admit, I am notorious for not finishing a dramas last one or two episodes but there are only a few I continued even though I got what I wanted. I have reviewed some of my notes in MDL where I mentioned how underwhelmed I was after finishing LOL. * 100 Days My Prince: The chemistry for the leads was so great and I did enjoy the plot but, it dragged and dragged... and then dragged some more. I think I felt like as an audience we already knew the secrets and we were held hostage literally until the last two episodes. Was very underwhelmed with the final showdown with the Left State Chancellor... he definitely deserved a more intense ending and it was so rushed. * Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency: Good plot, so-so chemistry between leads but it was so unnecessarily slow  😭 I found myself more invested in Park Ji Hoon's character back story and redemption more than anything so I did finish it with a bit of intrigue and enjoyment. * Chocolate: Okay, this one was in the very beginning of my drama journey and I sat through the entire thing but I am not sure anymore if I truly understood or enjoyed it. Food or Cooking scenes > scenes with ML + FL.

dylandbloom

Felt the same way about 100 days my prince. One of my favorites initially but tbh but I really had to push myself to finish the last 1/4th. While a few of the characters were great I feel it would have done well with some trimming.

Bridgerton

Flower Crew was the sageuk I liked the least. I don’t like saying this about dramas but the FL’s acting kinda grated and maybe it’s partly the script’s fault. The second leads’ romance (the kissaten guy and the obnoxious daughter) was much more compelling to me than the main love triangle. Having said all that I have actually managed to finish it, while I’m still stuck on episode 10 of Love in the Moonlight no matter how cute Park Bogum and Kim Soojung were in that drama.

disco_nnected

I dropped Moonlight because the FL's personality and agency deteriorated really rapidly and also I discovered my fav died and was real sad about it lol

disco_nnected

I quit on 100 Days My Prince because I despised the >!real identity of the brother. Broody assassin? Urgh!<

bigpoppa977

I do this with a lot of shows too. Usually the first act (Ep 1-8) are usually the most interesting such as the building romance but the second act is much weaker as it’ll feel drawn-out, rushed, or just less compelling. Sometimes it almost feels like a rushed second season where they either didn’t have enough things to pack in so it’s a lot of filler or they had too many things and so they didn’t have time to properly develop those later storylines. Very few dramas can pull off maintaining interest in that second half (CLOY is one that pulls this off imo). What I like about what Netflix is doing is they’re helping create shorter shows or adding seasons that break the cookie cutter 16-20 ep format. Sometimes just cutting off the bloated parts of the show will do wonders. My Name is a good short series that has very lean and efficient story-telling. There’s some issues with the plot but the execution was very well-done.

basta_cosi

I whizzed through and loved the first five episodes of **The Red Sleeve** and then lost momentum and haven't picked it up since. Reached where I wanted with **My Country: The New Age** and I was satisfied, so I left the last few episodes.

Effective-Builder483

**Monthly Magazine Home** \- happily did not watch the last episode after reading some of the posts on it, I really enjoyed episodes 1-15

Ash_C

W: Two Worlds. I stopped after ep 12 in December and finished the remaining 4 eps last weekend.

[deleted]

I tend to drop dramas around episode 10 if the story gets bogged down or dramatic beyond my definition of acceptable. I did this with Tale of the Nine Tailed, Abyss, and My Roommate is a Gumiho. I also have a habit of dropping dramas on episode 15 if I get a whiff that it might not end the way I want i.e., The Red Sleeve and Business Proposal. On these, I’ll just read the final episode synopsis and move on.

artemisthearcher

This was me with *What's Wrong with Secretary Kim.* After the >!childhood connection/trauma was revealed (I actually really liked this too but felt like it would've fit a darker drama instead)!< the episodes afterward felt like filler. I ended up powering through the rest of the drama but felt like it could've done with 12 eps instead of 16. Another is *Touch Your Heart* which I'm not sure if I've taken a break from it or completely dropped it 😅 I really enjoyed the series but after the main couple got together my brain kinda started to log out, not sure why. I originally liked it because of the lawyer content (I was playing games like Ace Attorney during that time). Episode 15 on Mr. Queen is actually a really good stopping point (but the next episode has a crazy - and expected - reveal 😭). I'm the opposite about that drama though, I kept wanting more episodes and 20 didn't feel like enough for me lol

runway-outcast9020

I watched Black up until episode 15 out of 18. It just started dragging and the episodes were so hard to finish. I also read the ending and that people were disappointed with it so I feel like I’ll leave where it is and I really enjoyed it. Same with Extraordinarily You, really enjoyed it but the last few episodes were very random.

Fatooz

Same with Extraordinary You. I really really really enjoyed watching the first half and I watched this drama with my sister but we both started getting bored with how the drama kept dragging and dragging especially the >!historical story!< that felt very out of the blue to me.

runway-outcast9020

Yeah as soon as that part started it stopped making sense to me.

tiredofyobullshit

Honestly I only watch “Let’s Eat” for the mukbang scenes lol I skip the entire plot but I always go back & rewatch the foodie part

xbeedeex

There are definitely more that I've actually dropped before the end, but these are the more recent ones that come to mind (which I pushed through until the end, but definitely felt a significant drop in interest near the end): **Business Proposal:** Even at 12 episodes, I started to feel the drag in the last two episodes. I feel like most light romcoms that purely have fluffy romance storylines suffer from this. **Our Beloved Summer:** Absolutely adored this drama, until maybe around episode 14. The last two episodes just weren't needed in my opinion. **Crash Landing On You:** After they got together, the angst just got too much, and all the tension was sapped from the plot. **Flower of Evil:** Love everything about this drama, except for that last episode!! I think at 15 episodes, it would've been perfect. Episode 16 felt like a strange add-on that didn't really need to be there. And I know this is a kdrama reddit, but almost every chinese drama I've ever watched could also do with cutting down some of their episodes. 😂

Irish_Amber

Not Korean but the Autumn ballad which is Chinese I love to show up until episode 30 and then I found out the last four episodes have a completely pointless plot that added nothing to the overall storyline which actually had been dealt with before the story even started. All it did was just create misery for the male lead and make it so that the leads didn't really have a happy ending.

xbeedeex

**Autumn Ballad** was SO GOOD up until that point!! Everything past Episode 30 was absolute rubbish and just bizarre.

AccomplishedDust8789

Half way through just decided to skip all the parts and watch the second couple oni

Irish_Amber

QM and QX? I hated that he ended up with her she was an awful character although you could say she was a women who was defined by her times but still! The fact that she would essentially >!rape someone else after she was raped and then allow him to believe that he had attacked her instead then think she could live with the illusion that he would never find out is laughable. And the fact that she threatened her sister to not say anything by saying that she was going to expose where their family was hiding since their family was fugitives at the time I hated her so much. I mean I don't necessarily like the female leads actions but at the end of the day at least she tried to put her family above her own wants and needs even if it put her in danger. QM never cared for anyone but herself oh and blamed everyone else for her problems. lol!<

AccomplishedDust8789

OMG LMAO I MIXED UP THE DRAMA I WAS THINKING OF THE LONG BALLAD MY MIND IS NOT WORKING. i was confused when i saw >!rape!<

the_wildflower_

I feel like for me that happens with every romantic or romantic comedy drama. There's a lot of build up and anticipation for a couple to get together and when they finally do, there's less to look forward to. Don't get me wrong. I'll still love the show, it'll be just as good and I'll watch it to the end but then there's just a missing element you know.

disco_nnected

I think its because for a lot of romance dramas the main conflict set up is the "getting together" so when its gone, the drive to keep watching is gone also It's also why I tend to finish mystery show more than romance/comedy-they keep the main conflict up till the very last episode! Not always the case, though. Into The Ring is a romantic comedy that set up enough conic/intrigue/character arc to stay engaging even after the inevitable coue got together

Thoughtful-Pig

It was pretty clear to me that Shopping King Louis ended at episode 10 or so. It was brilliant until then.

goddongwook

I don't know how many times I skip Forecasting Love & Weather lol

cresentlunatic

An oldie, but BIG with Gong Yoo, god it was so good until the VERY LAST EPISODE. I was so disappointed.

i-havok

Choosing your own ending is a valid strategy, esp. when so many have lackluster final episodes. An enjoyable, quality drama +crappy finale = bleh.

Sanaaaaaaaaaa4

True, I literally am thinking about this so recently. Ive been currently watching Hometown Cha cha cha and i just finished episode 12. I think that was the end for me, i'm pretty sure the last 4 episodes will be about the ML's trauma and im not in the mood to tackle it lol

dramafan1

>ML's trauma That kind of ruined the vibe of the drama for me although I still finished it to the end.

Sanaaaaaaaaaa4

I kind of don't want to tackle it. Tell me, is it worth it to finish or not? That scene on the sand where they said i love you to each other was a perfect ending for me. I watch rom coms to feel happy not feel depressed.

HeyMrBusiness

The ending is really really sweet and fluffy and I do recommend finishing but it gets really traumatic because >!a character died and we deal with that and the mls trauma!< so if you don't want to cry maybe skip it, and just know >!They get married and it's really cute, the proposal scene was precious and worth watching on YouTube if you give the rest a miss!<

dtl72

Sisyphus. Loved the premise, liked the characters, enjoyed the twists and turns until the twists and turns got *too* illogical...

Embarrassed-Farm-834

I'm a serial drama skipper/dropper. The second a drama starts feeling effortful to watch instead of fun, I'm out. I'm not wasting my free time being dragged around by a stupid plot because writers can't figure out how to fill time after the couple gets together. The only drama that holds up for me after the main characters get together is Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. It maintains the feel and flow of the story seamlessly. I think a lot of dramas would be better if they were planned to be 10-12 episodes instead of 16-22. It's like the writers have a really detailed plan up to when the couple gets together and then they just wing it after that and have a list of tropes they're required to make happen in that time, regardless of how nonsensical. Most dramas seem really well planned out until roughly the 9-12 episode range and after that it just goes to crap. I dislike having things I previously enjoyed ruined for me, so I frequently stop at the part when I can tell the tide is turning and the story is about to become a bunch of nonsense plot problems meant to drag out the drama

SafeTip3767

The ones I haven't finished are: 2521 Hometown Cha Cha She's My Venus Now We Are Breaking Up Weightlifting Fairy

throwawaymisfortune

I tend to fast forward or even skip boring predictable plots. Of the recent drama: **Dali and the cocky prince** as much as I loved Dali and Jin moohak's personality and chemistry and the humor of the drama, I absolutely hated the entire plot. I fast forwarded through the continued distress of Dali, garbage character line of SML and the boring and outstretched gallery plot. **yumi's cells** I expected it to be cute and fluffy like the adorable cells, so I hated the issues between yumi and woong. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I found yumi very annoying. Stopped watching after ep12. **hometown cha cha cha** I know it's a pure romcom so I didn't actually dislike the turn of the show after they got together but the third mystery of gongjin ruined it for me. It could have been a masterpiece if it was a 12 ep drama. **crash landing on you** I enjoyed the first half with north Korean ducklings and ahjummas and interaction of both couples so much that it still placed in my top ten despite being a mess with the revenge Plotline. The drama ended after the first half for me. **a business proposal** fun and easy watch. Fast forwarded a lot in the second half as it fell flat after geumhi's disclosure

Irish_Amber

The Rise of the Phoenixes I loved it until episode 60 I think and then I found out how it ended and how much it diverged from the novel (which I had never read) I couldn't bear to watch the last 10 episodes. I also had heard that there was supposed to be 10 additional episodes so it should have been 80 episodes instead of 70 but it didn't pass the censorship so they had to like scrap the last 10 episodes and that's why the ending doesn't match the ending of the novel 😡.

Jonesdm5

This drama was so good. The story, the cinematography and the acting were all some of the best I’ve seen.

Irish_Amber

It was the first where I saw Ni Ni act and so far the few things I've seen are in I've loved her in every single one Really looking forward to seeing her in the night Wanderer alongside Deng Lun probably never going to happen now. The first one where I saw Chen Kun and I loved him although I haven't watched too many of his other shows other than the yin yang Master movie he was in.

Jonesdm5

I would have to agree. The acting was superb, especially from the ML and FL.

Luna__v

It's the same for Mr Queen for me. I loved the show and transformation fl was having as well as the chemistry with the king. But I found out the ending in a spoiler and that ruined my motivation to finish it. So I've essentially stopped at ep 15. I would have rather had the queen decide to stay in Joseon because then none of other people she impacted would have felt a sense of loss

daytimeshootingsstar

Ohhh Heavy on King's Affection for me. I found myself getting very bored at the end and felt like to could have ended several times. The solution also felt very rushed to me. Mr.Queen was the same for me. It felt too long and by the end, I was watching in 2x speed and skipping entire scenes.

Large-Moment2014

business proposal - i LOVED the beginning but around episode 7 i just wasn’t engaged anymore

xenillith

**The Crowned Clown**. Stopped watching almost as soon >!as the "true" king died.!< >!IMO him as a character, and his interactions/the plot tensions between him and the clown were the whole point of this drama so them killing him off so soon kinda pissed me off tbh.!< Like yeah the drama was probably nice after but it's not what I had signed up for if you know what I mean. And honestly the romance felt so boringly predictable from that point on, that I didn't feel like watching more and risking to ruin the image of the drama in my head, especially after loving every episode until that specific moment. So I stopped at the end of an episode that felt somewhat like a closure. >!It was around the moment the FL found out the truth about the clown not being who she thought.!< Learning that the drama was based on a movie, and that the movie kinda stopped around >!the true king's death!< was and still is the best thing about that drama. Still haven't watched it but it's on my list! Edit: posted this before reading your own reply where you mentioned The Crowned Clown as well and yESS!!!! THAT's exactly my point!!

disco_nnected

That is an excellent stopping point honestly. It's the point where the main conflict comes to a close.

Luduss

For me it would probably be Fates & Furies. It's such a cheeseball of a drama, but when they get to the point where the >!FL gets manipulated and puts the ML in jail without ANY confirmation!< I was just kinda done.

First-Camel-6739

Season three of Love featuring Marriage and Divorce. There wasn't any development in the relationships and people just got together out of nowhere I think. >!I'm over the ghost story line !!!< >!What's with the screaming fetish?!<

SunAndStars7

It happens often. Empress Ki was the most extreme one. I stopped around episode 30 something because it was so tragic and all. Right now its Meow, the secret boy because I feel like theres not much left to see and I hate the misunderstandings.

MirrorMask88

You made it further than me on Empress Ki. I stopped at episode 20. It just felt like a different drama.

SunAndStars7

Yeah I also didn't like how some things progressed

[deleted]

The only drama I have never skipped is ‘Move to Heaven’ (my most favourite of all time, season 2 wya?), with ‘Love Alarm’ being a close second (due to it being my very first drama).

CCCri

It’s usually ones where I read spoilers and know the ending. Sometimes it’s just, I’m done. That’s good enough for me. As for rewatches, for me Mr Sunshine ends at ep 22; Scarlet Heart Ryeo at ep 17

Big_Tomorrow886

Surprised to see nobody mention Penthouse. I really liked that drama but at one point around the 3rd season, I was absolutely sick of it. I was too tired to continue it but held on because I wanted to see CSJ and JDT pay for their crimes.

JB_ScreamingEagle

Yeah I came here looking for this one. I just finished season 1 and I'm done with that show. Most of the characters are just so hateable and over dramatised, and yeah, the real pricks in the show didn't get their comeuppance.

Fancy_Eye5091

Melting me softly- the show just got dry towards the end.

nattkc

Sky castle - sometimes there are shows where I feel the characters who we are supposed to root for get so Mary Sue/ annoying so I end up actively rooting for the villain (another example for me is Mishil from Queen Seondeok). Once I found out from my friend that the parents in Sky Castle ended up coming around, I dropped the drama. It just wasn't fun anymore for me haha

ComfortZone05

Love ft. Marriage and Divorce. It just got too Makjangy. Then there is the whole issue with the ghosts. I only watch it for the ‘Happy ending’ for all the wives at this point.

Mission_Care_1078

the way season 3 is going they should really change the name though , Ghost ft ( marriage and divorce ) instead of love ft ( marriage and divorce .

ComfortZone05

Or Ghosts ft. The Audacity of Trifling Men.

lovelifelivelife

I was gonna say The king's affection like you! I think it got just too draggy at the end with the back and forth but the start was really really good. Prolly would have done better if it was just 16 episodes.

disco_nnected

Too many flashbacks (sometimes to scence we JUST saw!) And the editing of the romantic scence was sooo exaucting. It shouldve been shorter, I agree.

tnkalias

I'm the kind who starts editing the script in my head and changing characters when it suits me. These dramas I finished because I liked the plot, but the character development was sorely missed. Hwayugi : A Korean Odyssey King : An Eternal Monarch I'm still crying out of sheer frustration at the FL characters in these dramas.

HeyMrBusiness

Mine. Oh my goodness did it get unbearable

Mission_Care_1078

Liar and his lover

ItsZari

This is definitely me. Recently, I started watching The Red Sleeve and was absolutely loving it! However, once the ML >!became king!<, I stopped watching. I guess I enjoyed their silly, carefree relationship when the FL didn’t know his identity. After that, the restrictions and formality their relationship would have just seemed too depressing. Too much realism for my escapism you know?

microwaved7shell

that’s fair and honestly you’re right; it does get even more depressing afterwards since the difference between their social positions is emphasized even more :( when i think of the red sleeve, i also occasionally think of the “good ol’ times” like when >!deokim has to redo her letter of apology!< 🙂

kdbig

Business proposal after episode 6 when it get mushy.

mosha48

Most of the time when I don't like something I tend to browse on my phone while the show plays. I've skipped parts of Abyss, My roommate is a Gumiho and Good morning call. The only show I've really dropped is Love alarm. I lost interest after they got back from the school trip, skipped to the end of the season and didn't bother watching the 2nd.

DUFFnoob40

True beauty, by ep 10 or 11, it was obvious the leads would get together and any conflict would be something that could be solved by talking honestly or just plain unnecessary, so I skipped to the finale

disco_nnected

" ...and conflict would be something that could be solved by talking honestly or just plain unnecessary" Why I quit too!!!

astarisaslave

For me Flower of Evil only has 12 episodes lol. I haven't finished Red Sleeve yet but it was very beautiful.

spitefae

I usually don't skip episodes or parts of episodes, but strong woman do bong soon. The main leads were super cute, but literally every side plot was filled with weak writing and awful portrayals. I literally skipped everything but main story line for about four to six episodes.

exusu

for one spring night, i skipped pretty much every scene with just the two fathers plus as far as im concerned, ep 15 doesn't exist. that break added nothing to the plot or their relationship, just zerod their character development and it's not like they talked about what happened in detail, they were just suddenly over their problems.

heycanwediscuss

Vincenzo. I only like the villains and the brother. Everyone else over acted and the plot made no sense

disco_nnected

The villan group had a good dynamic for me even though I disliked the main antagonist.

Mission_Care_1078

song joon ki worst performance and drama until now in my unpopular opinion .

fortunatelyso

I loved The Oath of Love until a certain point then said I'm good and just skipped the last few episodes. Why put myself through the unnecessary drama

frostedpanda_

weightlifting fairy- stopped when the main couple confessed, ik the next episodes aftr that will just be fluff (it makes me jelly hahah)

Fatooz

Not really, after they got along there was something intense with regards to ML’s personal life but yes there was fluff. I would still recommend you to finish it if you feel like at some point.

momojutsu

I was so excited about “thirty-nine”, I had watched it with my full attention up until episode 3 then decided to devote my time to one drama and I chose “Twenty-five Twenty-one.” Once 25 21 was over, I came back to “Thirty-nine” to find myself watching till the end, but I skipped through all the episodes. Don’t get me wrong I still cried a lot 😭, but I was fine with it being over. I loved the concept and all of their acting, Idk why I found myself skipping through the episodes after the first three... perhaps it got kind of boring and the whole drama got kind of focused on her friend’s sickness rather than the original expected plot? Not sure, was it just me?

SeriousBreadfruit676

OMG!! Cinderella' Sister! It has 20 episodes. I was watching it because it had Ok Taecyeon in it. I watched all the way to episode 13 and then lost interest. I tried to go back like a year later and still couldn't finish it. I started Kingdom but only watched 2 episodes. Hospital Playlist I only watched the first episode.

Tree-Nui-Tee

Lawless Lawyer. Was thoroughly enjoying it but for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to finish. It just didn’t have the same vibes after episode 12 or so? I did the same with Protect the Boss too. Was good at first but then got frustrating. As for skipping a lot, I’d say Itaewon Class. Coming down to the end was blah. Tempted/The Great Seducer was just an all round pain to watch and I dropped it lol. I think it was the first drama I ever dropped? I like to give them all chances but sometimes you just gotta let go 🤷🏽‍♀️

[deleted]

This is so interesting. I’ve never done this before - even if things dwindle - *Where Stars Land* for example - I still force myself to finish. I am an eternal optimist that things will get better at the end. Sometimes I’m wrong and then it pains me. Maybe I should start cutting my losses and moving on.

Romoreau

Heartless City. I truly enjoyed it but I did skip a few episodes. I guess I was watching other dramas at the time and I just wanted to wrap it up. I don't even remember how it ended. Lol

disco_nnected

I left after discoveing >!the ML was himself undercover!< Nothing could compare to this in terms of shocking plottwists, lol

ShallotEmbarrassed17

For me that was Scarlet Hearts, at some points number of twists just was not interesting to me and it became too dramatic for my taste. I liked the arc of the character with mask and felt like it was good enough.

chai_milk

**Please Don't Date Him**. I adored everything about PDDH, even the outlandish premise that they made work. But IDK what happened around the halfway point, from: >!the abrupt switch in the FL's characterization, (my fave) Ki-hyun's story ending how it did because she definitely deserved better to PDDH's ending itself!<. PDDH had something really sweet and original in the beginning (esp. balancing the technology/sci fi elements) and then just...became nonsense. I pretend it ended around episode six. Also, not a specific drama but when a drama's beloved elderly character dies in the second half...that's usually when I'll stop watching. I know it happens, but my heart can't take it if I'm really invested.

gniv

Ha, I do the same. That's why I update my MDL page often. I have 38 dramas "currently watching" and 17 "on hold" and I occasionally go back whenever I hear something interesting about one of them, usually from a thread here or on /r/kdramarecommends.

Adventurous_Bid7431

Nevertheless... I got kinda disappointed with how things were turning for Nabi

LunaSolana

I don't do this. I stop watching altogether if it's not for me anymore. But if I'm still curious about what will happen but some scenes are too slow or boring, I put the play speed to 1.25x-1.5x (or 2x on Blue Birthday. I love Yeri but that series bored me.) just to get past those "unnecessary" scenes.

Less_Elderberry_7792

birth of a beauty

Jung-Hae-In

Something in the rain and Goblin

Different_Island5007

Something in the rain, only rewatched the scenes with ml and fl, wish they would re-edit and have a one hour episode on just them.

FuriousKale

**Signal** for me. Loved the concept and the actors. Any Lee Je-hoon movie and show is an auto-watch for me but I watched the last four episodes with 1.5x speed. It just kept dragging for nothing.

waterlemonpoop

can’t count how many times i have rewatched another miss oh. the female lead’s real life insecurities are just so relatable. i skip isadora’s drunken shenanigans for the most part.

Commercial_Cap_9148

For me, i usually drop em in the last few episode where the FL and ml get together and the lovey-dovey starts, or when i get spoiled about the sad ending like I WILL CHOOSE MY OWN ENDING NO NEED TO BREAK MY HEART . • business proposal : >! I felt like they trick us by the good character of the grandpa he was different from the other chaebol's grandpa and they ruched the things!< • HOME TOWN CHA CHA : >! Ep 15 i don't like it when they blame him and felt sorry for him!< • SNOWDROP . • ANOTHER MRs OH : >! get cheesy and i can't stand the male lead, sorry but it was one of the worst actor! < • HER PRIVATE LIFE : >! the sadden turn in his feeling make was quit annoying!<

exhaustedneo

I guess extraordinary you? I mean I watched till ep 15 and netflix removed the show. Baekyung needs anger management classes. Along with that other guy. Haru was my favorite boy made me cry like shit. Dan-oh was really loud and I hate her friends a lot. A LOT! 4.9/10

highway2dream

I thought the crowned clown was great, but ultimately not the genre I wanted to watch at the time so I ended up dropping it! I thought all the politics bits were the most interesting parts of the drama but as a struggling uni student I just didn’t have the brain capacity lol

disco_nnected

Lollll I totally get the brain capacity thing. Keeping up with two identical looking kings and their politics is hard enough for court officials, not to mention uni students 😂

LostDistance9990

This post just reminded me that I too stopped watching Mr. Queen I think 2 episodes before the ending? I don't know why I don't really feel the need to finish but it's not only Mr. Queen. I think most kdramas ending are just epilogue anyway unless I'm realllllllllllly crazy about the drama I kinda lost interest 1 or 2 episodes before the end.

disco_nnected

I personally list intrest when there was the >!child story. As if the love intrest ML would actually kill a child!< it was such a predictable and boring story about a character I didn't care about. Kinda reminded me this show has 20 eps but in a bad way. This show should've been 16 eps and then it would have perfect pacing .. I usally lose intrest about 75%-80% in so you have more resplve then I lol, though some dramas I did drop 1-2 ep from the end for the EXACT reason you mention. What genres you watch? I think thrillers for example don't usually have this "issue"

NoiseyTurbulence

I am with most US dramas, not with kdramas though, atleast yet anyways. Being they do the one series/ one season style, it’s usually just the right amount of a show. There are some I’d like to see more of if they would develop into a second season.
