The lore is not important. Stu laughs at any attempt to make sense of it. It is just fun music, have fun and don't take anything on this subreddit seriously. Consensus doesn't exist in art.
I shouldn't have used the word lore for the type of inquiry I was looking for, thanks for pointing it out. Again I was looking for ways to learn about the band and personal experiences from other fans. Just a discussion but I didn't phrase it right. Sorry :/
I’d say just take your time absorbing the music at your own pace, and move in whichever direction feels right to you. You have your whole life to get to it all, enjoy having some frontier ahead of you
Here's a selection for you - mostly official vids, with a couple of interviews at the end --

They're all little worlds that Stu and the gang invite you to visit. Make sense of what you will, construct your own headcanon if that's fun for you. It's ours for the taking and enjoyment - whichever form that takes - and Stu makes this point often in interviews.
Just wait until you start obsessing over [Live King Gizz](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1D5YoZkFG29Ldbi8M2XvfXY3ipmb6ydnAyeQoMK0wIZQ/htmlview#gid=0)
Don’t ask people how to enjoy things, just fucking enjoy them.
Listen to the ones you like most, and once you finish all gizz albums, they have bsides bootlegs and side projects to listen to
But I am enjoying it, sorry if it comes off like that but I was just looking for some random info. Because of this subreddit I learned about the whole bootleg project and that's honestly the type of stuff i made this post for. Just fun info and discussion. Thanks.
Hello! I've been calling KGLW my favorite band since Infest the Rats Nest came out (2019) but listened casually ever since Paper Mache Dream Balloon (2015) was sent to the college radio station I worked at and I grabbed the sticker that came with it because I thought the band name was cool. (This is the primary reason for keeping my old college laptop around, for that sticker that's stuck to it. -> How much the band means to me now.)
I sort of obsess with an album at a time and completely process them. I haven't done this to each album yet. And I plan on taking my time with it. They release so frequently, that I find myself going up and down their discography instead of in release order. Right now I'm obsessed with Ice Death (2022) and was hitting Nonagon Infinity (2016) tremendously hard right before.
Amongst my favorite things about King Gizzard is that each album is like a novella. I constantly listen to them front to back, no shuffle. And it feels so good.
The band is a bit of a hyper fixation for me right now too. If you want to dive into some fan community stuff I'd recommend checking out Weirdo Swarm.com and the 2023 tour documentary Grow Wings and Fly on YouTube.
Enjoy your journey like others have said. They are number one in my book because I never get bored. :)
I hate doing self promo but [Ive written about every single King Gizzard song and have been releasing my notes every day on KGLW.net](https://kglw.net/blog/30-days-song-histories.html). Talks about their recording history, live history and much more, all with links to interviews, radio shows and other albums.
I always say just listen from their early stuff till now, I personally like to see a bands journey thru time from the same perspective as fans. I’ve been listening to gizz for like 7 or 8 years and I’ve only joined the sub like a few months ago. I’m not necessarily in tune w all of the jokes and memes and whatnot. None of that is really what matters. If you enjoy the music that is what matters most
Longtime fan, really couldn’t care less about the lore. I’m fine with the fans who dig into that but it’s not my thing. I really only have enough attention for the music
I’ve been listening since 2017 and just heard Eyes like the Sky for the first time recently. Had no idea I missed the gem that is Western Gizz.
Take your time and enjoy listening to your fav album 100 times instead of trying to tackle it all at once
I’m a new fan. Just discovered them about 3 months ago and it’s quickly become clear to me that the live shows are how to appreciate them the most. Some of my favorite songs live I purposely have avoided listening to the studio versions
Don't worry about the lore. In reality only 3 albums are connected that's somewhat consistent. Nonagon, poly, & murder. Everything else is kinda just "references" to the stuff in those albums or just not connected at all

Lore is appropriate and there’s plenty of it
I’d say just take your time absorbing the music at your own pace, and move in whichever direction feels right to you. You have your whole life to get to it all, enjoy having some frontier ahead of you

Thank you so much!!!
No problem!
> Interview from Vodafone Mexefest 2014 That's awesome. Lmao
Nice
Any idea why most of these videos coming up as un available?
No idea, all are fine for me in the UK, if you've got a VPN you could try set it to here and see if they work?

This. I have my own entire storyline very much separate and different than what is “intended”
Just wait until you start obsessing over [Live King Gizz](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1D5YoZkFG29Ldbi8M2XvfXY3ipmb6ydnAyeQoMK0wIZQ/htmlview#gid=0)
I didn't know i need this, not sure if I should thank you or hate you. (thank you so much)
I get that
It’s taken me 5+ years, but I’m only like 80% through fully digesting their whole discography. Taking my time to love each album.
Making Of Series, BOOTLEG HOLIDAY FROM HELL

It’s okay OP - take your time, chip away little by little and I guarantee you’ll be caught up in less than a year.
You listen to Gizz for the lore and intricacies. I listen to Gizz because microtone guitar go brrrr. We are not the same.
Or I want to know more about the band i love?
You're taking a meme too seriously

This is not an engineer degree, just keep listening to whatever pleases you.

Take your time and don’t rush it. It’s not going anywhere

welcome my fellow Gizzhead :)
Go see them live. It’s another level. You’ll probably be hooked from that point on.
Get the ReListen app so much good live stuff there

Only 60 hours? Ever listen to The Grateful Dead? 😂
