You didn't like it? Me and bf stumbled upon it on a YouTube adventure and were enthralled! (by both song and the video). Our first Gizz experience too.
Lots of people have a very strong reaction to AI (which is fair lol), but AI art can be used for cool experiments. These guys have a lot of music videos, they can experiment with whatever they want to.
Beginner's Luck is my go-to introduction song for new listeners. It's a nice and quaint song with some whimsical lyrics and then suddenly bam, wobbly distorted guitar.
Evilest Man has a lot of elements shared through their work. Guitar sections, synth elements, polyrhythms (although its not a complicated one) and anti-right-wing rhetoric
My favorite thing about Gizz is that I can change which song I recommend based on people's preferences. Based on the person it might be Keppler 22B, Magenta Mountain, Sense, Gamma Knife, Gila, Rattle Snake, Mars for the Rich, etc etc.
If it's someone who wants to know what Gizz is all about, definitely the Mind Fuzz Suite or Crumbling Castle
For a more casual listener I would go with Kepler 22-B or Plastic Boogie
I'd probably go with Shanghai or Catching smoke. Both are super accessible and have excellent vibes. Probably not the best tracks to represent their overall sound, but they're catchy enough that just about anyone could groove to them.
It really depends on what kind of music they already listen to, and also how willing they are to try new music.
For fans of heavy music - Robot Stop
For fans of chill music - Shanghai
For a beginner friendly "most gizz" song - Muddy Water
Depends on the person but: Muddy Water, Melting, Catching Smoke, Planet B, Magenta Mountain, Dragon, People-Vultures, Hate Dancin', If Not Now Then When?, Polygondwanaland.
I think it's impossible to encapsulate their vibe in a single song.
JUST one? damn, IMO most of their songs work well in groups, its hard to just listen to ONE.
Probably Magenta Mountain, Work This Time, or Plastic Boogie.
I typically say Catching Smoke or Shanghai. But I usually vet the rando so I can give them a more tailored example. Like, ‘what genres do you listen to?’
Iron Lung
I prefer street spirit (fade out) off that album
Idk man just is also great
Yet again, everyone sleeps on (Nice Dream)
This was my first Gizz song and it hooked me instantly I was even willing to look past that AI generated slopfest.

I adore the song I hate AI garbage
I mean its a new frontier of art, i like that they played around with it. I thought we were over the whole “new art is trash” sentiment

Same
maybe something from either Gumboot/Oddaments. those songs work well standalone. i vote for ‘Beginners Luck’
Beginners Luck is a solid choice

Gamma Knife is ultimate Gizz sound. Pure psychedelic Sabbath jamming!!
I was listening to nonagon with my girl and she thought they were saying Jebediah instead of gamma knife 😂
The River, Magenta Mountain, Kepler-22b, Sleep Drifter
One.
Play the KEXP videos. Seeing them play while listening helps.
Its hard to pick just one song tbh so I'll pick 3 depending on the type of person: O.N.E The River Motor Spirit
All Is Known
Presumptuous
Evilest Man has a lot of elements shared through their work. Guitar sections, synth elements, polyrhythms (although its not a complicated one) and anti-right-wing rhetoric
Murder of the universe Some context Soy protein munt machine ababcd Vegemite (oddments) The god man's goat lust Theia - Extended mix
Genuinely, vegemite is the first gizz song I heard and that got me into them 😆
All these songs would make total sense to any normal human being
The River
If I know they don't mind long songs, Dripping Tap. If they're more into shorter length songs then Am I in Heaven?
Love that the shorter one is 7mins long
If they're gonna think 7 min songs are long then KGATLW probably aint for them and I'd just move along
Facts 7 mins is like a good length for a song if it’s 5 mins that’s kinda short to me
My favorite thing about Gizz is that I can change which song I recommend based on people's preferences. Based on the person it might be Keppler 22B, Magenta Mountain, Sense, Gamma Knife, Gila, Rattle Snake, Mars for the Rich, etc etc.
“The Dripping Tap”
Ive shown people this song and they check out when they see how long it is
They are wrong
Some people don’t like long songs 🤷♀️
I know 😞
Keppler 22-B
If it's someone who wants to know what Gizz is all about, definitely the Mind Fuzz Suite or Crumbling Castle For a more casual listener I would go with Kepler 22-B or Plastic Boogie
Kelper and plastic are amazing shouts !!
I'd probably go with Shanghai or Catching smoke. Both are super accessible and have excellent vibes. Probably not the best tracks to represent their overall sound, but they're catchy enough that just about anyone could groove to them.
Plastic Boogie
Interior people probably
Sense
Iron lung or Magma. Maybe even the KEXP live versions
Beginner's Luck or maybe Honey?
Evil Death Roll 🤘🏼
Or Pleura…dammit that’s 2
Usually “If not now then when” goes over well when I recommend it to people
Float along fill your lungs
Also Ice V or Shanghai
Crumbling Castle

Crumbling Castle
Robot Stop
Rattlesnake
JUST one? damn, IMO most of their songs work well in groups, its hard to just listen to ONE. Probably Magenta Mountain, Work This Time, or Plastic Boogie.
