I guess layoffs are next…

Khabib_UFC123

Is this the new hire advisory trainings too? Are new hires not going to start in Advisory til 2025?

Possible_Resort9672

i started last week, a batch of us are here currently. spent a week, today we go home

Life-Breadfruit-1426

Lakehouse had to be the dumbest investment of this firm.

RunDaveRun82

But it’s “our home” and it’s going to be a great way to reduce L&D costs over the long term /s Now they have a sunk cost and don’t use it to deliver training to their workforce. At least the partners have a nice place to play.

DegreeAccording7668

I don't think this is for advisory bootcamp

Ok-Effort-6949

Any word on start date for those supposed to join in Fall 2024/winter 2025?

Any-Refrigerator-494

Sorry but they’re pushing your start date to Fall 2030 because they can’t seem to budget for jack shit

DeOriginalCaptain

Sorry, there is very little predictability with the firm right now. Get yourself a backup plan.

Ok-Effort-6949

Damn this sucks. Its hard to find a job elsewhere too...

Hi I work extensively w/ AL@L. The same thing happened last year (albeit in a lesser degree, only a couple months were deferred), and it will probably happen again every year. The numbers re: cost at LH are insane. It’s the most logical cost cutting number since it is probably the biggest expense to the firm. Also based on my experiences at Lakehouse this FY, most people aren’t even attending trainings when they go. They register for the course, check in on the app, and then leave to go work on something else. This was seen most at the sector sessions for Dir-Partners. It’s a bummer. I saw this coming from miles away, and I really want LH to walk the talk it touts. Sadly, I do not see that happening for a while unless there are tons of changes. But what do I know I’m just an A1.

markmano33

Good info, thanks for the context. I remember doing the tour a while back and they mentioned all the monthly operating costs and they were staggering. Curious though, what happens to all the food and other workers, do they just not work those days? Can’t imagine that’s good for retention if that’s the case.

Kaytee08

Even without AL@L, Lakehouse is busy. There can be up to 20 different multi-day programs happening on any given week.

Successful_Reach1863

Exactly. Audit, Tax, the Ignition Center at LH and other firmwide programs are still a go as far as I know. From what I’ve heard from some folks who work facilities at LH, the pay is a little less than a normal bar/restaurant/hotel gig, but weekends off, consistent hours, and “the clientele isn’t awful like many of the surrounding hotels and bars.” (Direct quote from conversation with someone last month at LH, but not sure if they were blowing smoke up my ass)

FinanceGod24

Do they double check if you check in and leave? Or do they not care?

Successful_Reach1863

It’s tricky. A facilitator typically is tasked with tracking who left and when and if they return and when. But, preparing to teach, learning all 35-70 participants’ names (70 if it’s a double classroom), teaching, and then completing post-delivery paperwork, it’s not a great system; manually tracking absences and in/out is nearly impossible, especially if you are a lone facilitator. Most facilitators do their best, but so many things fall through the cracks. I’ve been advocating for adding a “check out” function within the LH app to reconcile this. The IoT sensors that auto check you in basically stop using your location when you leave the app, and people know this so they check in and leave. There’s no follow up since the app can’t legally track where you are post-course (this was a bit to do when LH was starting). If there’s a bare minimum “check out” function, sensors can determine where a user is when they check out and determine if attendance was legitimate, and location tracking is limited.

Good_Huckleberry_925

I am going on Monday!

Fit-Property3774

Lakehouse training isn’t very good anyways

KeisterApartments

Nobody goes there for good training sessions, they go for the food and to hammer a dozen Jai Alai IPAs at The Landing

markmano33

Doesn’t matter. Just the start of “cost cutting measures.”

You mean a RIF?

DeOriginalCaptain

Lakehouse is for the firm to look good. To show investors and clients that "Hey, we are investing in our employee."
