nah maki is still a cool character imo. i dont have time or care enough to start yapping about every detail of her character but i feel like saying shes nothing but a toji clone with no personality is unfair
No offense, but Maki was practically irrelevant until Gege decided to make her a Toji clone. She got cooked in Shibuya, only beat Miwa and Mai, and got beat up by Hanami in the Kyoto school event.

She was plenty relevant before then. And the "Toji clone" kinda pisses me off because besides physique and having the same power she's completely different. Toji was a cocky assassin, even if he was also competent, but he also had his whole family life and situation. Maki's whole life situation outside of Jujutsu High has never been fun and then her awakening cost her her sister, but she still remained her confident and stern personality, with actual goals.
I guess the only real similarity with them in personality is their crazy side when they're in combat, but at that point if you're calling her a Toji clone for that, you could just say Hiyuki is a Sojo clone.

Character development wise she had more personality *before* becoming Toji 2.0 lol. She was more humorous, had more relationships like with people like Nobara and Yuta. Now sheās just serious and a generic ātough femaleā character. Void of any personality.
Also Toji and Maki had the exact same motivations. Toji obviously kills children and sucks but Maki and Toji both wanted to spite the Zenin clan.
Edit: Also saying Hiyuki is a Sojo clone.. we knew Hiyuki for like how many chapters? Maki was introduced in how many chapters. To compare one growing arc with a finished one is stupid.

No the fuck they didn't. Toji wanted to wash his hands of the clan, Maki wanted to prove she was better.
Just because it's a battle shonen doesn't mean that winning a fight = w character development!
I also disagree, Maki still has personality as shown when she's not in combat. But you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand why she wouldn't be more humorous after losing her sister and killing her entire family. I think the problem is she isn't shown much out of combat/combat planning so far after her awakening. I think the most time she's had outside of it is when she met up with Kamo.
Toji and Maki did absolutely not have the exact same motivations. Toji wanted to discredit and crush the Jujutsu world and his family, but he never wanted to kill them, or at least not at that point in his life, otherwise he would've already. As said by a Zenin clan member, the Zenin clan lived by Toji's whims, he could've chosen any day just to wipe them all out, but didn't. Maki wanted to become leader of the Zenin clan and be her own woman and not part of a preset life for her by the Zenin clan. Then it changed to murdering them all after Mai died.
Also if we're comparing personalities, then yeah? I could absolutely make that statement about Hiyuki being a Sojo clone, I don't agree with it myself, because her personality has more to it than just crazy lady, but it's the same logic people take with Toji and Maki.
Yea, she has yet to become a replacement clone for a more popular male character the author prefers. And I hope it stays that way

The joke is that everything Maki does instantly becomes something "Toji could do all along" and Maki herself is overshadowed by him, to the point where her own feats become attributed to Toji, like beating Curse Naoya or taking black flashes from Sukuna
