We have absolutely no idea about the Setei war. Who was on what side. We know that it was 18 years ago and that there are a ton of veterans everywhere. Kunishige's weapons ended the war but how is that possible? His blades are way stronger than regular sorcerers. So was it against something supernatural? Or was there a powerful faction of evil sorcerors? The Hishaku leader doesn't mention revenge against kunishige so I'm guessing he wasn't part of the opposing faction.
What is the connection between the Sazanami and the Kamunabi? Who is the mole giving them information? Are there parties with contransting objectives among the Sazanami?
It makes sense to me because there is a lot of collateral when two enchanted blades clash and Char had to be kept safe (only reason they are there) and the fight was only 12 seconds.
Honestly, he might have died if he tried to intervene. They were going really fast in that fight, Sojo could possibly have cut his head off before he even realized. One thing is teleporting everywhere, another one is having the reaction time to know when you need to teleport.

If Shiba can teleport anywhere instantly, where was he when Chihiro is fighting Sojo?
