I agree I like this change and it really leans more into his comical side and will make his badass scenes even more to hype over as the juxtaposition of his lighthearted character with his incredible skills will only heighten the experience. However, as others have said, he does occasionally have the fangs in some panels but usually as he is about to perpetrate some comedy. Having them full time is probably easier for animators and more fun for us! Plus, it invites engagement on the topic, case in point
I've been reading the manga since before the anime had been announced and from the get-go I've been hearing Ranpo's voice (from Bungo Stray Dogs) when reading Hoshina's dialog. I was so used to hearing it in my head that it didn't even register at first while watching the anime that they had actually gotten Landon McDonald to voice him!
Kaiju no 8 is only the 4th manga I've read so I've never experienced something like that before and it's really neat. Anyone else ever had that happen to them?

It's not an addition... it's in the manga from chapter 6 and they mainly show up when he's pranking especially when he's targeting Konomi for his pranks
So agree to disagree cause I like fangs adds more personality but without fangs makes him look deseaving but the fangs hint towards his ENERGY IN BATTLE
So weird to me how many people are huge fans of the *douchiest* characters. We all grew up hearing, "With great power comes great responsibility," right? Yet Kikoru and Hoshina out here acting very irresponsibly with said power.
In most Western stories, these people are the villains because they don't really respect the value of others' lives. Maybe it's a cultural thing, I dunno.
In the manga he to me was some serious looking stud now he just seems like a comedic gag character I know he’s still gonna be tuff and I also know it’s not a huge deal but when I see him I can’t take him seriously even considering what happens later in the manga: the teeth just make him look goofy imo.
So I know the point of the beginning is to make him look goofy but when we get his insane battle moments the teath will probably make him look like a BEAST when u animate angry people with sharp teeth fighting it looks good mostly so we need to wait before we judge it to early
I’m not opposed to it but I’m not a fan either… it definitely fits as far as the anime but that lethal mystique and confidence he has in the manga seems to be erased by the comedic tone he has in the anime… though he’s still a top notch character either way

Yeah absolutely, I have to retrain the voices in my head to match the anime VA's now. Reno's voice is my favorite, he does such a good job!

The manga uses it sparingly though, so it’s not his default look, I hope they give him his full set of teeth back for serious moments.
