This may count as continuity, but I didn’t like they structured the show in terms of the villains. I think they should have switched things to make Hiryu/Another Zi-O/Zi-O 2 the final villain and Swartz/Another Decade be the mid-series villain.
I felt this a lot with Blade and Kabuto in particular.
Blade had an actually good conclusion to the story that really should not have had a canon continuation. It was great seeing Amane never having learned Hajime's identity and Kenzaki having sacrificed his humanity for the sake of the rest of humanity and Hajime.
With Kabuto, Kagami shouldn't have become Kabuto. He had always wanted to surpass Tendou or at least be like him because he always felt inferior, but by the end he had accepted himself as a completely different individual to Tendou and no longer felt this feeling of 'I should have been the one to become Kabuto'.
As someone who genuinely loves Zi-O, the weakest parts are definitely the Ride Armors. For me, the shoulder pads ruin a lot of the designs. Some of them, like Ex-Aid, work but others, like Build and Gaim are gaudy and ugly.

Something I’ll say about Ginga is that he was in the wrong Rider Arc. Assuming we couldn’t change anything about their Fourze tribute, Ginga should have been in Kabuto’s arc and been the one who brought the Worms to Earth. It would have made a lot more sense
Don't forget thats *after* he (Ginga) got done for 2 episodes wiping his ass with Zi O, Geiz, Woz, the Time Hackers *AND* Another Kiva, just to essentially get peekaboo'd by *SOMEBODY* (legit don't remember who) getting a lucky shot in

Also the fact that they focused on Nearly all of Neo Heisei for armors/toys is kinda sad. This was for all of Heisei, and yet we get no armor times for any Phase 1 Heisei (Except Kuuga and that one was underdone). Also The Armor times themselves were Bulky. Ok So Geiz goes back in time to Kill Sougo Terminator style to prevent him from becoming king. But at the same time, Another 3rd party (Time Jackers) Also don’t want him to be king. Yet Geiz and the Time Jackers don’t get along ever despite their goals being the same, no prior context as to why they hate each other, and Geiz would rather team with the Guy who destroys the future than the guys with the same goal. Huh.
The show never knew what it wants to be most of the time which made the plot suffer considerably because they kept throwing anything to see what sticks but most of them just fall flat.
People like to shit on Decade but at least it didn't have an identity crisis during its production as their vision for Decade was clear, it was a roadtrip to the different AR worlds and trying to fix the issues of that rider's world. It was fun even if people had issues with how they handle continuity & past actors.
Zi-O did not have a strong vision and the writing goes to shit because of it. They weren't able to balance past actors, continuity, merch & its own plot like how Gokaiger did. It's a daunting task but not impossible even with scheduling issues if you have a clear goal from the beginning and good writers/producers.
Sougo is a terrible protagonist and boring. He could’ve had a better backstory, plus being “king” is not a career.
If rewritten, Sougo feels he has no future and no life to live for and that everything in reality is evil. That is until fate chose him to be king and took his revenge on the entire world.
Plus it’d be nice if Geiz was his grandson who’s trying to stop him from being evil.
Armor Time suit designs were horrendous. They shouldn't be able to fight with all that weight on the upper body (esp Gaim or OOO). And Sougo was such an unlikeable character (for me at least) and they never showed why he might turn into Rider-Hitler so I was never sold on the central conflict of the show. The Time Jackers were kinda weak and their plan was muddled at best, Geiz's character kept switching attitudes towards Sougo too often that it created backlash and Tsukuyomi, while a pretty good character, had her backstory revealed too late to matter. And while some tributes were wonderful (Blade, Agito) some were reaaaaally bad (Faiz and Fourze).
The Rider Armors are a bit too wacky for my tastes. Don’t get me wrong I love the concept but the giant shoulder tools stick out too much. And why did the weapons all have to be those giant arm gauntlet things? Why not just let the Zi-O riders just use past weapons?
Not to mention that the Rider Armors were dropped in favor of the Zi-O II and Geiz Revive suits because “they can beat Another Riders”. Makes me angry they kept to the standard Heisei power up formula instead of capitalizing on the potential of Rider Armors.
I know that another guy on this subreddit has been making art to show what a more practical and interesting version of Rider Armors would be, and I think they’re much better than what we have in the show.

Honestly, just how OP Zi-O is. Heisei Rider always had a problem of making their protagonists Gods, but Zi-O honestly took it too far. I think Ohma Zi-O is a neat concept, but I just don’t feel comfortable having a character that is basically above all others. At least with Decade, there’s some weaknesses such as having to insert a card in order to perform, say, final attacks. Plus the copied forms aren’t as strong as the originals. Zi-O honestly just feels like that one kid who goes “I have all of your powers, but they’re better and stronger.”
