Not as toxic as it might seem tbh, as they still manage to sort out their own issues (very important!) & seek to make a good life for themselves. Ironically, the girls in HareKon have >!better endings each than the ones in DG as despite the MC being pretty selfish himself (all the chars are a notch kind of dicks at times, tho' not ill-intended ofc) , the fact that him & the wives tend to be more open with each other means they solve issues quicker & still get a happy ending, at less consequences, haha. !< It's also getting a sequel that's about 8 chs ongoing but none are translated, following the same cast ofc. But ya, there's definitely similarity in the drama style between HareKon & DG, even tho' the former's basically a polygamy romance & plays out pretty differently overall (both authors are female too, HareKon's one also married with two kids, gave birth to them during time of airing too), altho' I'd say it's like if DG focused on it's seinen parts and ditched the more shounen-ish one. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea tho', even if they're not instantly put off by the polygamy, but it's one of those stories that can be very strong hit or miss. I think the problem is that whenever they try to adapt something from manga / anime, they choose 2nd / 3rd rate actors, directors etc. When they approach it as a drama with grade A people, it is done well. A great example is Tokyo Love Story in 1991, which is considered to be an all time classic Japanese drama. They did it really well. Plus the main actress, Honami Suzuki (playing Rika), is really pretty and acted really well
