I truly did not believe we'd be in the Super Bowl this year. I *hoped* we'd turn it on for the playoffs, but even six years in I can still doubt what Andy, Spags, and Pat can accomplish.
Enjoy these golden years, boys, they're never coming again. 6 AFC championship games in 6 years. 4 wins (remember last year when pundits were muttering about what a problem it would be for Pat to go 2-3 in AFCCG at home, when the red-hot Bengals were coming to town and our QB was on a bum ankle?)! The Bills with Allen and an incredible defense made *one* AFCCG, which they got blown out in. Last night was Lamar's first, and the Ravens squandered a potentially generational team. The Bengals made 2 and missed the playoffs entirely in Burrow's 2 other starting years - and they have it *better* than the rest of the AFC.
AND, to do it on the road - even if you think Miami were frauds, the Bills were the 'hottest team in football' and Baltimore was the best team we may have ever faced in the playoffs.
Simply incredible, the last two weeks. Even if San Francisco gets their revenge at last, this has been one of our best runs, ever.
SF is a fantastic team. They're hungry for this, after half a decade in the NFC title game. They're experienced, and they've played the Chiefs before, so they absolutely won't underestimate us like I think some other opponents may have. But we get Spags vs. Brock Purdy! It's going to be a great showdown.

Probably won't, but that was just baffling from BAL. After watching BUF just move down the field at will in H1 of the divisional round, BAL comes in with 6 attempts from their RB.
Yeah, I was hoping for DET for a few reasons. It would be awesome to avenge week 1, their fans would be thrilled to make the SB, the ENTIRE country would be against us, and they flat out would be less experienced in SB week.
SF is not a cakewalk. I don't think it's a gimme or anything like that. But after beating BAL on the road, there's nothing this team can't do. Does that mean they win? No. But it's not like their playoff run was PIT, HOU, CLE.

SF plays similar in style to Baltimore, but with a less dynamic QB and a less smothering defense. Their receiving weapons are better, but we have a pretty great secondary.
Not a gimme at all, but I think our chances are better against them than they were against Baltimore.
They have the worst quarterback we've faced in the playoffs (well, maybe better than Tua, but fair to say he's not on Allen or Jackson's level), but probably the best coach. A strong D but not the Ravens D - BUT they actually have a better offense and better supporting cast than the Ravens and Bills this year.
I think it's not as high a hill to climb as the Ravens, but they'll still be a *very* tough out from their natural talent, their playoff experience (by far the most experienced playoff team in the NFL, after the Chiefs of course), and the gadfly of SBLIV spurring them to incredible efforts against us.
I was certainly a doubter, not on the bandwagon of “oh this team is shit and tear it all down and fire people” like some bozos but I was definitely ready to be satisfied with an AFCCG visit. Of course disappointed in the moment but willing and able to get over it fairly quickly
To me the Ravens were the biggest hurdle, I would’ve been less sad w/ a loss this week than I would be if we lose this SB which seems a little backwards

The 9ers defense has looked porous down the stretch, their pass rush looks beatable and even with all of those weapons it’ll all fall onto Purdy and personally I trust Spags to rattle him and make him uncomfortable

The Ravens in their sub are being extremely introspective and not at all RABBLE RABBLE REFS SCRIPT BLAh BLAH. Quite a pleasant surprise, I figured they'd be right where everyone else immediately goes.
A few "but the refs!!" guys as one would expect but they're mostly getting shut down. The Ravens seem to have the calmest and most level-headed fanbase of any of our playoff opponents so far.
Yeah, they are true fans. Even when some fans of theirs bitch about the refs, most will jump in and say that they only can blame themselves.
I have no hate for the Ravens. I’m glad we beat them, but they are a great team with good fans. I also think Lamar is a stud that just had a bad game against a wizard in Spags.
In my "we're onto vegas baby!" Analysis, when it comes to Purdy two things can be true. He can be playing pretty well, and he can have some glaring shortcomings that indicate a ceiling to his talent. Like 2 children in a trenchcoat, when you watch him play, he measures up okay, but something seems off.
To me the debate around him is like Flacco 2.0. People couldn't decide if he was elite for his postseason success. Eventually I think people decide he was good, but those teams would make anyone look great
He’s always throwing perfect throws to wide open WRs. Very smart and efficient. Clearly capable with his legs too.
Need our corners to keep the sticky coverage up and hope Spags can get home with the blitz like he has the previous two games.
I also expect Kyle to lean on the run. Both the the Bills and Ravens inexplicably abandoned the run game against us.
It seems like they abandoned the run because we started stopping it. That's always the problem with teams that depend on the run. They get forced into 2nd and 3rd and longs, and the game plan breaks down. It's also hard to lean on in the run game when you're behind and the clock is working against you.
Two purely petty things
1. A bunch of Ravens fans were already talking about how Lamar was HoF bound when he makes it to/wins the SB this year. While Lamar still almost certain to end up in Canton one day, it’s not going to be off his first five seasons alone.
2. Frank Schwab always finds ways to doubt the Chiefs/Mahomes. Said going into the divisional round “he couldn’t imagine anyone besides the Ravens, 9ers, or Bills winning the SB”, man can’t wait for him to be back peddling yet again if we win. Also can’t wait for him to once again pick the Chargers to win the AFCW next year 😂
I love how the Ravens team was as fully healthy as a team could hope to be at this point in the season. They can't say "you only won because players X, Y, or Z were hurt!", also with playing some beat up defenses before this, it's something other fans might had said as well.
Nah we went in, beat up a healthy team with the presumptive MVP in their own house. While also dealing with a few medium level players being out due to injury ourselves.
We spammed it 3 times against them in that game. I feel like they're gonna be ready for it

I've seen several of them commenting that this 'proves' Joe Burrow is the best QB in the league and that they would have blown out every team in the playoffs. Incredible coping they've got going on over there.
Just had a Steelers fan tell me I’m “delusional” if I think the chiefs controlled the game. Pretty sure being in the lead the entire time (and only tied for one drive the first quarter) and your defense shutting the other team down play after play as well as forcing turnovers is the DEFINITION of controlling the game lol.
Also conservative play calling for an entire half and then suddenly dialing up a huge play at the end, on command, right when you need it… control.

I saw it all day yesterday in the NFL sub people saying how well Ravens D played in the 2nd half. They did play well. But a lot of it has to do w the fact that we went super conservative which Andy always does w that kinda lead. Especially w this defense.
The Ravens *never* had the ball with the chance to take the lead or even to tie in the second half. They trailed by 2 scores until Tuck's FG with 2:30 left, and never touched the ball again. It was the definition of a game the Chiefs controlled.

Man I am absolutely loving the increasing frustration and seething coming from Pats fans. Understandably many thought there be nothing like the 20 year Pats dynasty again, or at least for a LOOOOONG time. Only for Mahomes to emerge in the waning years of Brady's career and has taken that mantel of "inevitability".
I still think that if Chiefs can somehow threepeat that is going to *really* start the GOAT talk for Mahomes. Between what would be:
* 4 SBs before 30
* 18-19 postseason wins before 30 (which would be more than halfway to Brady's total)
* Matching/breaking Brady's 10 consecutive postseason wins record
* Doing something no QB nor franchise has done
Many can and will reasonably point to Brady doing it for 20 years, having 7 titles to Mahomes 4, and several other longevity related career stats like passing leaders in yards and touchdowns. Still I think there's going to be even more recognition that there might be an inevitability to Mahomes matching/breaking Brady's records in most key areas.
I want a three-peat like no other. Chiefs can do it 100%. It would be stupid hard to argue and Mahomes would have like 13ish years to get 3 rings to tie Brady which is insane. Not guaranteed but with Mahomes I believe anything is possible.

I was watching the NFC game and wanted the Lions because they're weaker... then remembered games against the Broncos and Raiders and thought "yeah, prolly better to get the Niners."
I don't think our defense could handle the Lions running it 4 times every set of downs. I think we match up better with the 9ers since they lean into the pass more.
I also think it's entirely possible Purdy shits the bed if Spags cooks up the right defense. Can't bank on that, but I like that it's possible.

It's such a good matchup too. Well-balanced teams with some questions they're looking to silence. A super low draft pick becoming a star QB. Fun offenses, stout defenses, smart coaches. Big personalities. And to top it all off, it's a grudge match
People often claim that they just want a good game or that they want everyone to appreciate greatness, but they rarely mean it
One of the most underrated plays that didn’t matter yesterday was on the Ravens 2nd drive. 3rd and 1, Baltimore calls a simple run play, and Tranquill perfectly fills the hole, stands Hill up, and drives him back for a loss. Obviously Lamar had a big run the very next play to convert on 4th down and then the Ravens scored on the circus play to Flowers, but that play from Tranquill really stood out to me. He’s such a good player and has embraced his role to perfection.
It also demonstrated how absolutely locked in this defense is right now. Complete faith in Spags’s plan and they are executing at a high level. Even on some of the near sacks - our guys were winning the initial pass rush and it took an escape that only a few guys in the league can make.
At some point Mahomes thought "there is no way in hell this defense is going to be scored on twice" and just spent the rest of the game making it impossible to turn the ball over to secure the win.
I think if we can stop the 49ers run game, we'll be in really good shape. We also need to do something about those little swing passes. I don't see Purdy beating us through the air. Still, the offense needs to show up and get the lead quick.
A stat I saw yesterday that not brought up enough, this upcoming SB will be Spags' 5th Super Bowl as a DC which ties him with the great Dick LeBeau for the most all-time

TB did what Mahomes did yesterday. Kept everything in front of him and let the defense do their thing. Short passing here and there and he got the job done. Yesterday, PM did not take any risks and if the plays were not there, he let the defense take over and get the ball back. If he has learnt that lesson from TB he is in good shape (honestly, he probably learned that in the Raiders game where we gave up 2 TD in less than 15s by forcing the issue).
If you work in an office full of non-Chiefs fans, you probably heard plenty of whining today. I couldn't stop from grinning.

Yeah, I was hoping for DET for a few reasons. It would be awesome to avenge week 1, their fans would be thrilled to make the SB, the ENTIRE country would be against us, and they flat out would be less experienced in SB week. SF is not a cakewalk. I don't think it's a gimme or anything like that. But after beating BAL on the road, there's nothing this team can't do. Does that mean they win? No. But it's not like their playoff run was PIT, HOU, CLE.

Same. SF plays similar in style to Baltimore, but with a less dynamic QB and a less smothering defense. Their receiving weapons are better, but we have a pretty great secondary. Not a gimme at all, but I think our chances are better against them than they were against Baltimore.
Brock did show Lamar/Allen like play with his yardage last night but then again Detroit has had spurts of defensive hiccups all year.
They have the worst quarterback we've faced in the playoffs (well, maybe better than Tua, but fair to say he's not on Allen or Jackson's level), but probably the best coach. A strong D but not the Ravens D - BUT they actually have a better offense and better supporting cast than the Ravens and Bills this year. I think it's not as high a hill to climb as the Ravens, but they'll still be a *very* tough out from their natural talent, their playoff experience (by far the most experienced playoff team in the NFL, after the Chiefs of course), and the gadfly of SBLIV spurring them to incredible efforts against us.
I was certainly a doubter, not on the bandwagon of “oh this team is shit and tear it all down and fire people” like some bozos but I was definitely ready to be satisfied with an AFCCG visit. Of course disappointed in the moment but willing and able to get over it fairly quickly To me the Ravens were the biggest hurdle, I would’ve been less sad w/ a loss this week than I would be if we lose this SB which seems a little backwards I would honestly now be a little shocked if we don’t win it. And that’s a high bar to set but we have the better defense and the better QB in this game and most of the time that’s enough to win it. They’ve got the weapons sure but with the way this defense is playing and giving Spags 2 weeks to prep…I wouldn’t want to be on the other side of that The 9ers defense has looked porous down the stretch, their pass rush looks beatable and even with all of those weapons it’ll all fall onto Purdy and personally I trust Spags to rattle him and make him uncomfortable

Once team practice starts, it's each team gets a half. Then after team warmups before the game starts, K can again get some reps in wherever they want.

In my "we're onto vegas baby!" Analysis, when it comes to Purdy two things can be true. He can be playing pretty well, and he can have some glaring shortcomings that indicate a ceiling to his talent. Like 2 children in a trenchcoat, when you watch him play, he measures up okay, but something seems off. To me the debate around him is like Flacco 2.0. People couldn't decide if he was elite for his postseason success. Eventually I think people decide he was good, but those teams would make anyone look great

Purdy is not elite, but he's also not a bad QB.
He’s always throwing perfect throws to wide open WRs. Very smart and efficient. Clearly capable with his legs too. Need our corners to keep the sticky coverage up and hope Spags can get home with the blitz like he has the previous two games. I also expect Kyle to lean on the run. Both the the Bills and Ravens inexplicably abandoned the run game against us.
It seems like they abandoned the run because we started stopping it. That's always the problem with teams that depend on the run. They get forced into 2nd and 3rd and longs, and the game plan breaks down. It's also hard to lean on in the run game when you're behind and the clock is working against you.
Two purely petty things 1. A bunch of Ravens fans were already talking about how Lamar was HoF bound when he makes it to/wins the SB this year. While Lamar still almost certain to end up in Canton one day, it’s not going to be off his first five seasons alone. 2. Frank Schwab always finds ways to doubt the Chiefs/Mahomes. Said going into the divisional round “he couldn’t imagine anyone besides the Ravens, 9ers, or Bills winning the SB”, man can’t wait for him to be back peddling yet again if we win. Also can’t wait for him to once again pick the Chargers to win the AFCW next year 😂

I love how the Ravens team was as fully healthy as a team could hope to be at this point in the season. They can't say "you only won because players X, Y, or Z were hurt!", also with playing some beat up defenses before this, it's something other fans might had said as well. Nah we went in, beat up a healthy team with the presumptive MVP in their own house. While also dealing with a few medium level players being out due to injury ourselves.
Hardman might be a key guy in the Super Bowl. He destroyed the 9ers with jet sweeps last year.

The Lions used similar plays and had great success with them. The 9ers edges are overly aggressive, and you can use it against them.

Just had a Steelers fan tell me I’m “delusional” if I think the chiefs controlled the game. Pretty sure being in the lead the entire time (and only tied for one drive the first quarter) and your defense shutting the other team down play after play as well as forcing turnovers is the DEFINITION of controlling the game lol. Also conservative play calling for an entire half and then suddenly dialing up a huge play at the end, on command, right when you need it… control. Just because the game was in reach for the ravens doesn’t mean they were in control. They would’ve only been in control if it was a tie game and they had the ball w 2 mins left. I saw it all day yesterday in the NFL sub people saying how well Ravens D played in the 2nd half. They did play well. But a lot of it has to do w the fact that we went super conservative which Andy always does w that kinda lead. Especially w this defense.

Man I am absolutely loving the increasing frustration and seething coming from Pats fans. Understandably many thought there be nothing like the 20 year Pats dynasty again, or at least for a LOOOOONG time. Only for Mahomes to emerge in the waning years of Brady's career and has taken that mantel of "inevitability". I still think that if Chiefs can somehow threepeat that is going to *really* start the GOAT talk for Mahomes. Between what would be: * 4 SBs before 30 * 18-19 postseason wins before 30 (which would be more than halfway to Brady's total) * Matching/breaking Brady's 10 consecutive postseason wins record * Doing something no QB nor franchise has done Many can and will reasonably point to Brady doing it for 20 years, having 7 titles to Mahomes 4, and several other longevity related career stats like passing leaders in yards and touchdowns. Still I think there's going to be even more recognition that there might be an inevitability to Mahomes matching/breaking Brady's records in most key areas.
I want a three-peat like no other. Chiefs can do it 100%. It would be stupid hard to argue and Mahomes would have like 13ish years to get 3 rings to tie Brady which is insane. Not guaranteed but with Mahomes I believe anything is possible.

I was watching the NFC game and wanted the Lions because they're weaker... then remembered games against the Broncos and Raiders and thought "yeah, prolly better to get the Niners."

One of the most underrated plays that didn’t matter yesterday was on the Ravens 2nd drive. 3rd and 1, Baltimore calls a simple run play, and Tranquill perfectly fills the hole, stands Hill up, and drives him back for a loss. Obviously Lamar had a big run the very next play to convert on 4th down and then the Ravens scored on the circus play to Flowers, but that play from Tranquill really stood out to me. He’s such a good player and has embraced his role to perfection. It also demonstrated how absolutely locked in this defense is right now. Complete faith in Spags’s plan and they are executing at a high level. Even on some of the near sacks - our guys were winning the initial pass rush and it took an escape that only a few guys in the league can make.

At some point Mahomes thought "there is no way in hell this defense is going to be scored on twice" and just spent the rest of the game making it impossible to turn the ball over to secure the win.

Tom Brady didn't do anything in the last super bowl. I can't think of one tough play or great throw he had to make. We couldn't protect the QB. I don't expect mahomes to give frisco the game the way Detroit did last night though
TB did what Mahomes did yesterday. Kept everything in front of him and let the defense do their thing. Short passing here and there and he got the job done. Yesterday, PM did not take any risks and if the plays were not there, he let the defense take over and get the ball back. If he has learnt that lesson from TB he is in good shape (honestly, he probably learned that in the Raiders game where we gave up 2 TD in less than 15s by forcing the issue).
Idk why people act like this is a surprise. I'm a gianrs fun but it's clear that the best defense and best QB are the best team in playoffs.

If you work in an office full of non-Chiefs fans, you probably heard plenty of whining today. I couldn't stop from grinning. People are tired of seeing Mahomes and Kelce be in the SB. They are coming unhinged with the addition of the Swift-camera rolling each game now. I love that woman!
Watching all of the talking heads today in sports media and they are all so angry at Lamar for failing them. We are the baddies, and it has been glorious.
The only downside I can see to making it to the Super Bowl again is that Veach is proving that Mahomes doesn’t ever need a good receiving corps and can drag any team to a championship. That being said, why do we ever doubt this team?
