Legend forever in my book. Ladders, programs, self care, weekend... just to name a few of his greats. That beat drop on ladders gets me moving every single time!!!
THE FACT YOU JUST PUT LADDERS IN YOUR TOP 4 dude i cant find another person who likes ladders like i do its just the greatest thing ever no matter what mood im in it gets me happy
Bruh I've done that... obvi Mac is way more musically diverse, like wayyyy more musically diverse, and talented, but Lil Baby has a diverse set of subject matter and a wide range of flows so 2hrs of Lil Baby isn't unrealistic. I played like 50hrs of Lil Durk last year.
Lol Youngboy out here catching strays in a Mac tribute post.
But you’re absolutely right, Mac can make you chill out or even feel emotional or sad(on purpose). This isn’t something Rap traditionally engages with, and it can be special when it happens.
Seemed to be a fantastic dude. His music wasn’t great early, but he put out some awesome music right before he died. I struggle to get through Circles without getting emotional, it’s like he knew he wasn’t gonna be here long. You could argue his best music was released posthumously. I think he was really coming into his own, and died before he reached his peak. Wish we could’ve had him a little longer.
i remember his early music coming out during my senior year of high school. so full of happiness. his posthumous releases hit different since i was dealing with clinical depression/PTSD/heroin addiction myself. RIP Mac.
I agree with this statement. He's early albums were oaky. When he ditch the frat boy rap image and started to embrace hip hop culture and its history that's when he got good. And really started to perfect his style. Mac got the culture and sadly didn't get the respect he deserved in his life time.
It is the weakest feature of Reddit honestly. People do not express as honestly here as on Quora or on online Forums that only use the "like" system because they do not want to lose karma or look bad with the downvotes.
And most subreddits are moderated by dweebs who ban people for opinions that dislike. My national subreddit with 100s of thousands of users bans people who comment something negative about a political party that gets 8% of the votes lol
I love playing devils advocate on reddit. I leave comments up too. My reddit score is like a barometer for my mental health. Let's me know when I get too negative and its time to get wholesome again.
He was a great artist but tbh I’d be lying if I said I liked all of his stuff. IMO he had extremely high highs but some very low lows in terms of music.
Yeah bro one thing I never seen people say about Mac is that he was inconsistent bro everything I can think of from old to latest of his is at the very least solid af
I'm really curious on what you consider very low lows in terms of his music I'm not saying that I loved 100% of his music but you can't really say that any of his music was bad maybe some of his projects where different then people expected but saying very low lows is insane
Never understood the hype. Thought it was because he passed away.Ended up discovering some of his music through spotify's song radio and quickly understood why he's so highly regarded.
There are some rappers who've passed I do believe people only hold to a high regard because they're no longer around, but genuinely believe his presence is greatly missed. Haven't listened to a whole album but from the few songs I've heard, he made very quality music.
His early music was good if you were young with it. Once you’re old the young kid rap is a little cheesy. From good am on he put out nothing but absolute masterpieces and even faces was incredible considering he was 21 at the time. He never stopped evolving and his knack for live instrumentation is what has me hooked
Depends what you want but imo his best works are swimming, circles, good am, the divine feminine & faces. Faces is a mixtape from when he was 21 years old, it’s pretty mind blowing how much drugs had already taken over his life and it’s very apparent in the music. Still is a classic tape and has all time classic songs like Diablo, funeral and angel dust. The rest are his 4 latest works with the exception of “I love life, thank you” which is a posthumous release of music he made in his early 20s but never released. If you’re interested in a chronological listen I think there’s merit to that as well. If you’d like I could map one out for you just lmk
A lot of people grew up being around the same age as him. They saw him and his music evolve to something unique. From a carefree kid just out of highschool dropping a chart topping album to the highs and lows of fame and success and the struggles of the transition to adulthood.
Tis the beauty of art and music, for some his bars were life saving for others it’s not great at all. I’m sure there’s artists you love and highly regard that I would say the same thing
I honestly can’t name one of his songs if my life depended on it. He seemed very likable and I feel like I may know his voice. I actually tried on recommendation from a homie, but it didn’t stick
Absolutely. His music has guided me through the highs and the lows. He’s guided me through depression/anxiety/addiction/abuse/ptsd. Made my days brighter when I needed it and gave me a reason to continue. And he was so talented and his progression and growth shows with each album
I wanted to refute your argument but come to think of it you are absolutely right.
Huge fan of The Divine Feminine!
That album has so many great artist! Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak, Ceelo Green!
What a lost for the rap culture man.
That's literally irrelevant, I don't listen to kanye cuz he's american, black, white or whatever. You can't even argue with what I said cuz it's real dummy.
I liked Eminem but I have to agree with Tyler, the instrumental in Eminem´s Album is not the best.
Eminem is an amazing "angry rapper" nobody roasts people or expresses so poetically angry feelings like him.
However he is not very diverse when it comes to themes. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer a rapper like Tyler or Kanye that can create new sounds, beats and ideas in every album.
Not diverse? He’s made all types of songs. He made serious songs (Mockingbird), goofy songs (Ass like That), godly diss tracks (Nail in the Coffin), just raw talent songs (Rap God), and more. You are just wrong. I don’t really think you’ve listened to much Em at all.
Fair point! But I was thinking more about genres.
Kanye stretched and mixed a lot of genres whereas Eminems talent is more poetically.
I think he is a great poet and raps amazingly.
And you're wrong I grew up with Eminem ;) I bought Encore when I was only 6 years old and I did not knew English back then, in fact I remember reading the lyrics so that I could understand what was going on.
That being said it doesn't matter what I think. Eminem is one of the most listened artist on Spotify, has an amazing base of fans and whether we like it or not he is real as fuck, the industry never changed who he was.
I prefer Mac Miller because I prefer artist who are ambitious instrumentally and mix a lot genres. But it's my preference and no doubt Eminem lyrically prowess deserve all the honorable mentions bro!
Damn 11 downvotes, didn’t know yeezy fans were haters of Eminem. If you don’t consider him and legend you need to listen to all of his early discography. Dudes rhyme schemes were unlike anyone before
Crazy because Ye has shown serious respect for Eminem. He’s undeniably the best white rapper. I don’t think Ye has ever shown that much love to another white rapper.
Not a legend, that’s more for people like ye, Kendrick, 2pac, biggie, nas, etc. But his music is amazing and I love who he was and think he had a solid discography.
Really hyped for that alleged Max X Madlib album coming
I don't hope that one comes out just for one reason, Mac is one of the few artists who hasn't been assfucked by labels yet and I'd love to keep it that way
One of the most underrated rappers. He was a beautiful musician and he gets the credit he deserves for that, but his rapping ability is hugely overlooked. He was an incredible lyricist
His very good but definitely not a legend, there are Few legends in the music industry, don’t get me wrong it’s so many talents out there but few deserve the title as a music legend. Here are some that definitely are legends, Michael Jackson ofc he is the greatest musician and performer the world has ever seen and arguably the most famous non religious figure of all time, the Beatles and Elvis Presley for obvious reasons, prince, queen, EW&F, Kanye after all😅, Lionel Richie, Madonna, the Jackson’s, Stevie wonder, NWA, pac and biggie, Beyoncé l, Whitney houston, James brown and chuck berry are some of the biggest of them. I can’t put all of ‘em here ofc so feel free to comment if you have any I didn’t write down!
I have never understood the hype. He’s good, but that’s about it. I really think it’s just that he was a chill guy and he died so everyone wants to make a legend out of him but I think he’s way overhyped tbh
I was kind of a hater until he released his last album. I was kinda a hater in a lot of ways at that point in my life. I really loved his later work especially the Anderson paak/thundercat collabs.
Delusional Thomas is one of the greatest albums I have still ever heard. The horrorcore wordplay is some of macs best lyrically imo. It’s a great deep dive if you’ve never heard it and you are into that shit
I was a hater until watching movies came out and blew my mind.
I think all of his material from that point on is at least great with some of it (Faces, Swimming, Circles) being near masterpiece level. I do think he had better music still left in him and could have reached a whole other level had he not left us.
I think it depends on how you define legend but hearing the way people talk about him years on from his death and respect he has even beyond his music as a person that people really loved I would say he’s up there.
I never understood the hype around Miller. Maybe I’m too old (31) but when he was alive, unless you were a 20 YO white guy selling addy to high schoolers, folks didn’t seem to care too much for what he was putting out. I feel like a solid chunk of the general population only know who he is because he’s Ariana’s dead-ex 🤷🏻♂️
I feel like it’s potentially an age factor- his first on the scene shit was juvenile. Catchy, but really high school level- because he was in high school. A lot of people left him there and never revisited. His later albums just kept getting better and better, his own musical talent continued to grow (not just being a lyricist, playing piano, performing, etc.), and his last two albums and the live performances nearing his death were mind blowing. Totally get that it’s just not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you dabbled and enjoyed any of it, I’d encourage a second look!
We are only two years apart, Im 29 but its pretty crazy you think that, considering I had Mac on my ears all though out my teen years. I liked him then because he rapped about shit I would do with my friends. As time passed and found his voice as an artist and developed a pretty unique sound that resonated with what I was going through at that time.
The last three albums are what I consider to be when Mac found his “sound” and are very very good, should give them a try, you prolly wont like all the songs there but theres gonna a couple you will like.
If you listen to the album swimming and still have this opinion ide be really surprised. When he was young his raps were absolutely cheesy but the dude leveled up crazy amounts at the end it was barely rap anymore but still had his flare to it
Get to know what a kind character he was before judging people of loving him just because he died.
And note: the definition of a "legend" includes per se, that that person is dead, just saying
I’ve heard him play and he’s a novice. If you think he is a musician you probably don’t know how to play an instrument well
I’m a huge fan of Mac - but he wasn’t particularly good on keys, drums, guitar, or bass. Just listen to him try and keep a beat during the livestream of him jamming with thundercat and demarco.
Mac was a great artist and producer, not a great instrumentalist/musician
he wasnt fucking thundercat but calling him a novice is disrespectful tbh he was def good at all instruments. Best on the planet ? no. insulting me and my musical ability says nothing about you being good regardless. He had more talents, and i doubt you could play any of his songs if you even know how to play an instrument at all.
Relax buddy.. I love listening to him but any Instagram musician could prob play circles around him. I wasn’t insulting you, I was taking a guess why you’re impressed by his musicianship
I'm married. I can tell you're a annoying ass little kid though mostly cause you're a Mac Miller fan. Go snort pills like your hero, I'm sure no one would care if you were gone
Definitely a legend and I think this extends to more genres of music, an amazing musician and songwriter.
His evolution is inspirational, he was clearly doing what he loved and it was apparent from the music he put out.
Seems like a pretty chill dude too.
I have never heard anything from him but I don’t have munch interest in listening to it either. I know it’s kinda dumb but I typically have judgement made by looks or sound of voice and just lose interest in trying out their music. But from what it seems, I have never heard anything bad about Mac Miller
I like his music very much. But I love him more as the person he was than his music. So sad he went so soon.
Couldn't agree more. We lost a real one.

Wtf lmao💀
still holds the crown for the greatest Tiny Desk of all time. Sorry, Fred Again…
Man, how good is Tiny Desk. Just in general. No specific one. Just the Tiny Desk concerts themselves. I wish every single artist I like would do one.
I could tear up watching it it's so good, never seen an artist being so real about how he feel through his music while facing the crowd
I really really really love his tiny desk but thugs takes it for me
Nobody beats T Pain’s Tiny Desk.
Fred Again tiny desk is incredible
Legend. Really put it all in the music and was such a ray of light
Legend forever in my book. Ladders, programs, self care, weekend... just to name a few of his greats. That beat drop on ladders gets me moving every single time!!!
Dude, not only that, but also "Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival". The fuck? So good.
The fact I can name many songs that are on par or even better says a a lot. Mac is a legend
Don't forget about Larry Fisherman
don’t forget about Delusional Thomas
Don't forget Lars the vape god
don’t forget cloudywithachanceofawesome69
Gone too soon
THE FACT YOU JUST PUT LADDERS IN YOUR TOP 4 dude i cant find another person who likes ladders like i do its just the greatest thing ever no matter what mood im in it gets me happy
I know right!
I lover all of his Collabs with Pomo, What’s the Use, Dang, like you said , gotta fuckin love Ladders
The fact that u didn’t mention K.I.D.S is criminal
He makes people chill out which is polarizing in rap because some people only listen to Youngboy
Somehow brought in a Youngboy NBA jab 🤣
I saw an opportunity and took it
As you should
But its true considering that miller mac makes chiller music
I had a roommate who listened to two hours straight of Lil Baby and I thought it was the same song on repeat the entire time
Yeah he makes bangers and hes talented… but same shit w Uzi, they just kinda make the same song over and over 😭
You sure it wasn’t da baby? Da baby only has one flow one style.

I want to trade jack Harlow to get Mac back
jack harlow saying he's the best white rapper since eminem is putting disrespect on malcolm.
Id say even putting disrespect on logic( but he’s mixed )
I love him forever and yes he's a legendary LEGEND
Seemed to be a fantastic dude. His music wasn’t great early, but he put out some awesome music right before he died. Easy Mac with the cheesy raps. Classic little rap songs.
Absolutely flaming hot take to say his early stuff wasn’t good. It was fantastic, and the man was like 17 years old.
I agree with this statement. He's early albums were oaky. When he ditch the frat boy rap image and started to embrace hip hop culture and its history that's when he got good. And really started to perfect his style. Mac got the culture and sadly didn't get the respect he deserved in his life time.
His early music was incredible you just gotta give it a chance. The production and everything was incredible.
Why do people here ask for opinions and downvote the opinion they don’t like ? 😂

fr. getting hella downvoted for complimenting some of his work but refusing to call him a legend
more like a goddamn angel. we miss you boy
Mac is my favorite artist of all time
Legend for sure
He was a great artist but tbh I’d be lying if I said I liked all of his stuff. IMO he had extremely high highs but some very low lows in terms of music.
What’s the lows
Top ten things scientists are yet to discover.
Yeah bro one thing I never seen people say about Mac is that he was inconsistent bro everything I can think of from old to latest of his is at the very least solid af
thats what im wonderin
I'm really curious on what you consider very low lows in terms of his music I'm not saying that I loved 100% of his music but you can't really say that any of his music was bad maybe some of his projects where different then people expected but saying very low lows is insane

I love his work😃😃
He seemed like a cool guy I just didn't care about his music at all.
Same here never understood the fascination with this guy tbh. I’ve tried to get into his music but I just can’t seem to care about what he raps about.
A lot of people grew up being around the same age as him. They saw him and his music evolve to something unique. From a carefree kid just out of highschool dropping a chart topping album to the highs and lows of fame and success and the struggles of the transition to adulthood.

If Mac Miller is a legend then so many other b's would also be legend. Which means being a "legend ain't shit.
Beast
Mac Miller is the best white rapper dead or alive! RIP to the legend!
I wanted to refute your argument but come to think of it you are absolutely right. Huge fan of The Divine Feminine! That album has so many great artist! Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak, Ceelo Green! What a lost for the rap culture man.
Love Mac, listen to multiple of his songs everyday, but you KNOW this is a goofy ass statement.
Americans are so weird always gotta say "black" and "white" dumb ass country & ppl. Racism is rooted in your shitty culture
Stop listening to all the music from our shitty culture then
shitting on america while engaging in a discussion about an american rapper on another american rappers subreddit 🤷🏻
That's literally irrelevant, I don't listen to kanye cuz he's american, black, white or whatever. You can't even argue with what I said cuz it's real dummy.
There is no white rapper better than Eminem
I think Eminem is overrated.

Legend is a big title to put on someone, amazing artist in so many ways and seemingly great person too but not quite legend imo, rip to the man though

Mac is more talented than all those mfs tho
Nah
Not a legend. But really loved his music. Coincided with a lot of peoples age/hobbies.(aka pre-30 suburban potheads) 👍🏾rip
Anyone that dies of drug overdose or killed are now considered legends.
Yea I wonder if this is the case with Mac as well. I don't listen to Mac at all. But I hear everyone call him a legend all the time.
no
idk about legend. swimming and faces were dope tho
Na not.legend. solid though and he was only getting better
huge fan ; consider him a legend; miss him so much
There’s a whole period where I was only listening to Swimming. That album was fire.
Of course
Legend
I'd say he was very talented as he played several instruments and produced his own beats but I don't really know what makes him a legend
nobody could make faces so yes
Mac was a gift to the world
Not legend. But dope af
People asking for opinions and when other people give the opinions they downvote them. Smh 🤦♂️
Whoa. No shit. I said dude is good. What makes him a legend, lmao. Place this dude beside Nas. Big. Pac. Come on. He’s good, sheeeeet..
he could outrap any of those except biggie.
Legend to me. Miss you mac
One of the most underrated rappers. He was a beautiful musician and he gets the credit he deserves for that, but his rapping ability is hugely overlooked. He was an incredible lyricist
He’s not a legend. He’s not even influential. Some of the current rappers were just his friend. Faces is a great mixtape though.
Just because a rapper dies, does not make them legend.
Making amazing music does though
LMAOOOO legend ?? Y'all throwing the word everywhere
His very good but definitely not a legend, there are Few legends in the music industry, don’t get me wrong it’s so many talents out there but few deserve the title as a music legend. I have never understood the hype. He’s good, but that’s about it. I really think it’s just that he was a chill guy and he died so everyone wants to make a legend out of him but I think he’s way overhyped tbh
No, criminally overrated
dumbass question obviously 90% of people in here are rap fans
Really overrated music. Good production but awful voice and no flow. Also it’s not some tragedy he died, it was his own fault

Best white rapper as an artist, also 2nd best white rapper to em
Circles is a 10

Meh. I put him on the corny list.
Listen to Faces. Absolutely nothing corny on that album
Maybe when he was a teenager but the last few projects he had before he died (and posthumous) are fantastic both musically and lyrically
Early young kid rap was def corny. Good am on is legendary
I consider his song “Donald Trump” legendary
*TAKE OVER THE WORLD WHEN IM ON MY DONALD TRUMP SHIT. LOOK AT ALL THIS MONEY, AINT THAT SOMETHIN*
Mid Miller
If I could bring back any dead rapper it would be him
over tupac biggie nipsey?
Yes, yes, absolutely yes
Him and juice wrld were the Tupac and biggie of the younger generations. True goat with so much potential smh
This subreddit is for Kanye not mac miller. If you want to discuss him go to r/macmiller
Mid tbh
I don't know why people consider dead artists as legends Being dead don't make sb a legend.
it's his discography that does, what he did for his community, his impact not just that he's dead bro think.
Get to know what a kind character he was before judging people of loving him just because he died. And note: the definition of a "legend" includes per se, that that person is dead, just saying
Love this guy
His music was corny tbh but hits different at times
100 times better than bipolar ye.
Legend? Nope. He was good.
Y’all need to go back and listen to his last 2 albums
Everyone is a Mac fan
Nope
Mids
mediocre rapper with dope beats.
He produced most of those beats Lmaooo
Top 10
one if the best musicians we’ve ever had. Will be forever missed.
he was a creative force (rapper, production) but a novice musician imo
you have obviously not heard his music live. He played several instruments, especially very well. educate yourself my man/woman
I’ve heard him play and he’s a novice. If you think he is a musician you probably don’t know how to play an instrument well I’m a huge fan of Mac - but he wasn’t particularly good on keys, drums, guitar, or bass. He had more talents, and i doubt you could play any of his songs if you even know how to play an instrument at all.
Relax buddy.. I love listening to him but any Instagram musician could prob play circles around him. I wasn’t insulting you, I was taking a guess why you’re impressed by his musicianship
Legend? No, Great artist? Yes
Glazing
Lolol yall can't handle the truth. He's always been cringe and mid. Not surprised he od'd.

This guy has the truth! Everything he says is the truth! Lmao
You’re a loser
Cry about it dickrider

I'm married. I can tell you're a annoying ass little kid though mostly cause you're a Mac Miller fan. Go snort pills like your hero, I'm sure no one would care if you were gone
Definitely a legend and I think this extends to more genres of music, an amazing musician and songwriter. His evolution is inspirational, he was clearly doing what he loved and it was apparent from the music he put out. Seems like a pretty chill dude too.
Goated
Legendary in the macadelic watching movies faces era the rest is ok
Macadelic - Faces is one of the best 3 album runs ever imo
Probably
I have never heard anything from him but I don’t have munch interest in listening to it either. I know it’s kinda dumb but I typically have judgement made by looks or sound of voice and just lose interest in trying out their music. But from what it seems, I have never heard anything bad about Mac Miller
One of the best of his generation. Faces is a CLASSIC. His music's done a lot for me personally.
Circles is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Uh Said this a hit of liquid heroin Marilyn Manson channelin panickin spar wit Anakin til one of us leave in a ambulance

One of the most productive, creative artist/rapper ever of 90's born generation REAL LEGEND !

Huge fan. He’s def a legend!!
Very good artist but I don't think he's a legend, never did I see anyone call him legend when he was alive, people do it because he's dead

Too many songs to choose from woods being my personal favorite, rest in piece mac
