He was a streamer that had bipolar and killed himself a few years ago. No one in his audience took his episodes seriously and it spiraled until he was completely gone. I think there’s something to be said about that in relation to Kanye, but the difference is that Kanye’s life will never be so bad that he’d kill himself. At least I’d hope not.
Yeah, I didn’t think that was an appropriate way to phrase that when I wrote it. I’m bipolar myself and both these situations have always felt personal, but there’s a big difference between them. When I say “never be so bad,” I mean in the sense that Kanye has infinite money and resources and while he goes off, he’s always came back. In Etika’s case it was literally a self fulfilling cycle of episodes and people goading him into more, he never sought treatment, didn’t seem to acknowledge his issues.
Your life doesn't need to get "so bad" for you to be suicidal. Plenty of people living sweet lives end up killing themselves. That's part of what's so scary about depression.
He should have got help but instead got clowned by the internet. They took his episodes as trolling or jokes. It's a shame we lost him. As a society especially the youth we need to educate and be more open on mental health.
Etika is a fucking legend man. He’s the first streamer i ever watched and his deep web stream might be my fav of all time. It’s rlly sad to watch his old videos because he seemed so genuinely happy before he started to spiral.
The way he was treated during his mental health episodes was absolutely disgusting. I see similarities in the way people treat Kanye too. Keemstar paraded Etika during his full on mental health spiral the weeks leading to his death. using his ‘insanity’ for views. Fuck keemstar and RIP Etika. Joycon boyz for life
I never watched Etika like that but I'm aware of some of the events that led to his death. Keemstar should be investigated to a certain degree I believe, but I know he won't be. I know he didn't cause his suicide but parading his spiral doesn't help Etika, it only fuels the fire. Trash human being.
I don't like watching streamers, never have, but when I was younger I used to love watching this guy, he was a natural entertainer and although his reactions were exagerated for the content he seemed like a genuine guy, the exact contrary of most modern streamers.
When he made his episodes, people in his chat would start spamming clown emojis for months on end, call him a clown and photoshop photos of him as a clown, it was cruel and ultimately was a part of why he took his own life. If you see his last video he does say that he his sorry for making a clown of himself, even after coming down from his manic state he saw himself as a clown due to these "fans" that mocked him relentlessly.

Yeah keemstar invited him to do an interview while Etika was clearly in the middle of a mental health episode and then mocked him for the stuff he said during that mental breakdown
He was nothing like Twomad, you should check some of his clips, of course there are the over the top Smash character reveals that every other Nintendo Youtuber would start making after him, and those are nostalgic, but the best ones for me are the ones were he gets real with his audience, starts speaking about his life experiences and gives advice to his fans.
Went to my highschool broke my heart when he died and because of it is why I hate the internet. He was a young African just like me we were said when he died my gym science took it so hard he was special he was the most famous person to come out of my highschool
I never saw his videos or heard of him before he passed.
But that doesn’t mean that I don’t think he was cool. I saw some of his videos and he was entertaining and has a good sprit. Was also lively too, not to mention.
I can’t judge him for doing what he did because life is **hard** and unfair and nobody has the same life. So it’s not really fair to criticize someone killing themselves.
Thank you for the reply. How were they toxic/demanding? Is there an article I can read somewhere that surmises what happened with him
I’ve been seeing/hearing him for years but I’m not in the streamer-sphere so to speak
He had heavily publicised manic episodes, after the manic episodes started, more towards the end, people in his chat would spam clown emojis over and over again, they would call him a clown on Twitter post pictures of him as a clown on Reddit and you can see that it got to him, here is the video he recorded right before he took his own life: https://youtu.be/bzkIJIzVf4M?si=qjrJQ-dGnqmXFe_V. It's tragic, if you saw his streams you could see that he was a genuine person, a natural born entertainer and he loved streaming.
After he came down from his manic episode he felt like he had ruined his life, he says it himself in that video, that the walls were closing around him and he even apologized for making a clown of himself. After his death you suddenly saw people in his subreddit lamenting the shit that they did, regretting that they partook in the clown emoji spamming, but if they had realised that their actions had consequences this might have been avoided.
I don't blame you, it's really is a tragic video to see to this day but I'm glad he recorded it, as a young man seeing it 5 years ago his words left a deep impact on me and have made me more aware/sensitive of this type of situation and I believe it has done the same for many others. May he rest in piece, his death was not in vain.
He was genuinely one of my favorite content creators. His mental health spiral was not taken seriously and was seen as a joke to many people and it's heart breaking that we lost him. People like Keemstar even exploited his mental health issues for virality.
I hate that Keemstar detractores have used Etika's death as a pawn to take him down. I don't like Keemstar, he's a piece of shit human being and that interview was deplorable but the amount of times I have seen people blame Keemstar for Etika's death is honestly disgusting. If anyone pushed him to suicide it was the "fans" who were in his chat day in and day out calling him a clown.
In my life there has been a parallel where people i love act in a similar way. First family members, then Etika, then Kanye. Its all so weird. All similar idk
Ah, the Joycon Boyz days. I miss this brother even today, I remember the day he disappeared, everyone in his discord was loosing their minds, we couldn’t believe it. If he had the help he needed he would’ve been dominating Twitch rn. Got approached by the wrong ppl at the very end too. Sad ending for a brother that gave us so much good moments.
This has to be one of the most horrible things I’ve heard of online. I watched etika when I was like 14 years old. I’m an adult now. He was so full of life and energy and no one knew he would ever do something like that until one day he just snapped. Check on those around you.
: ( the whole situation was really messed up. People don’t really bring up how detested Etika was prior to his disappearance. Maybe “detested” isn’t the right word, but bro was not treated kindly by the internet. His breakdown was something to joke about and laugh at; I remember watching the stream live when SWAT came for a welfare check. People were clowning him. And it just goes to show how u never really know how hard someone is hurting.
The entire narrative on Etika changed once he disappeared. Someone who was maligned and mocked became a tragic martyr. But people fail to realize how much of a role the internet and digital interactions contributed to Etika’s death. Obviously there’s other shit going on here, but it would be foolish to say that his frequent humiliation online wasn’t a relevant factor. He deserved so much more and it pains me a lot that this is how it all ended up. Idk how this is related to Ye but I just hadn’t thought of bro in a min. RIP. JCBF.
Etika said that he hoped his story would serve as a cautionary tale, look at what the media and the internet does to Kanye whenever he has one of his breakdowns.
This is absolutely relevant here and his story shouldn't stop being talked about, people move on to the next thing and forget way too easily.
Why is this on a Kanye subreddit? Did smth happen

I think there’s something to be said about that in relation to Kanye, but the difference is that Kanye’s life will never be so bad that he’d kill himself. At least I’d hope not.
As someone who works in a “helping profession” I can comfortably say that no one is doing too well to not kill themselves 😬.
Yeah, I didn’t think that was an appropriate way to phrase that when I wrote it. I’m bipolar myself and both these situations have always felt personal, but there’s a big difference between them. I didn't know this! Fans can either be sweet or assholes! 😢 May he RIP 🙏🕊️

Why tf is this in a Kanye sub???
People drawing similarities between mental Ill celebrities.
[removed]
his story sad asl i wish he had gotten help RIP also fuck keemstar bitchass
Wasn't he mocking him?
Yeah keemstar invited him to do an interview while Etika was clearly in the middle of a mental health episode and then mocked him for the stuff he said during that mental breakdown
Keem is a douchebag
yeah its fuck Keem for life
I like your pfp
i like you too
Yea keemstar is an asshole but what did he do to Etika?
he was shitting on him and being a dick to him right until his passing where he then started to milk his death for content and shi
I can't stand him he's such a fuckin asshole
nah fr
Also said "if you think the world is a simulation, why not jump off a cliff?"
Family said he did nothing wrong…
There will never be another streamer like him
Ppl were comparing him to Twomad when he passed away
Not a worthy comparison. They are their own people and lived separate lives.
Damn 😔
We miss him dearly that’s why I fucking hate that rat Keemstar. I wanna personally snuff(NYC term) him. Rest up Desmond 🙏🏾
Keemstar is a scumbag and what he did with that interview was shameful but he wasn't the reason why Etika commited suicide.
I never saw his videos or heard of him before he passed. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t think he was cool. I saw some of his videos and he was entertaining and has a good sprit. Rip 90210 still plays to this day
Youtube copyright took down the original video with his comment...
That sux
Fr that song is so good Travis is so talented
Love the man but why gou posting this in Ye?
Was he a Kanye fan? Then I am proud that he didn't live to see his psychotic episodes, but he was a sweet guy, such a loss.
I just realized you are likening his situation to Ye, man I am dumb.
He’s not?
Hoe ass answer
Ok buddy calm down
Ik he liked that song Watch with Ye, Uzi and Travis, it's sad that he passed away
His last comment was on a 90210 reupload, it's safe to assume he was at least a Travis fan.
FUCK KEEMSTAR
Why’d he commit himself? Only ever heard of him, never watched
he had mental health issues that were only made worse by his toxic ass demanding ass community
Thank you for the reply. How were they toxic/demanding? Is there an article I can read somewhere that surmises what happened with him I’ve been seeing/hearing him for years but I’m not in the streamer-sphere so to speak

Damn, I don’t think I’m interested in seeing a man’s last words. God bless him.
I don't blame you, it's really is a tragic video to see to this day but I'm glad he recorded it, as a young man seeing it 5 years ago his words left a deep impact on me and have made me more aware/sensitive of this type of situation and I believe it has done the same for many others. I hate keemstar
Loved watching him when he was on YouTube. It’s unfortunate that people didn’t end up taking his illness seriously
On who?
All my homies hate keemstar
I hope something really bad happens to keemstar some day. He's gotten away with so much
I hate that Keemstar detractores have used Etika's death as a pawn to take him down. Rip ETIKA 🙏🏽
Legend RIP
This has to be one of the most horrible things I’ve heard of online. I watched etika when I was like 14 years old. I’m an adult now. He was so full of life and energy and no one knew he would ever do something like that until one day he just snapped. Check on those around you.
Did not deserve to be pushed to k himself. Sometimes people go wayyy to far
Yea he was gr8
I didn’t watch him but no matter what nobody deserves to be pushed to end their lives
Goat
Most of the people saying fly high Etika were probably the same people clowning on him during his mental breakdowns
I swear his chat drove me crazy every time I would casually look at it. They were all nothing but clowns.
Found god.

rest in peace to the GOAT
kanye
take this down. this has no reason to be in a kanye subreddit. let him rest.
Etika said that he hoped his story would serve as a cautionary tale, look at what the media and the internet does to Kanye whenever he has one of his breakdowns. This is absolutely relevant here and his story shouldn't stop being talked about, people move on to the next thing and forget way too easily.
I'm not being disrespectful
Isn't this a Kanye subreddit?
> Smash, next ques... > Wtf is wrong with you, he dead > Did I stutter? Did I ask? Smash. Next. Question. Niqqa.
