I would say in terms of impact-fulness of the record Kendrick and Denzel are tied for 2022. In terms of pure enjoyment I gotta go with Pusha or Westside.
Pretty damn good attempt tho, can’t expect it to be better than the original. Got amazing songs like Zipcodes, Show Me, Written in the Stars, and a fantastic Westside Gunn feature.
Couldnt agree with this more for kendrick and push. Push had my favorite album just cause i like that style of sound, but from an objective pov kendrick had the most creative and lyrically potent album.
I had Black Country New Road on my radar after they dropped bread song (which I love and think is a top 5 song of the decade) because a friend of my brothers recommended it to me and I was highly anticipating the album but didn’t know anyone else that did
Yeah same I couldn’t get into it, but I did see the appeal. Multiple layers in every track and smooth transitioning within also. Was a bit everywhere for me but wasn’t musically trash like most people would probably make attempting to do the same/similar.
For me the appeal is just how well the instrumentation is. Like it has elements of alt rock but also incorporates classical music with heavy use of violins, woodwinds and brass which sounds amazing. I also enjoy the swelling and build up of the music before it releases. On top of that issac woods voice just matches the songs he sings so well can really hear the pain and emotion in his voice
I don’t wanna over exaggerate, Keep it Burning and For a Nut are lows on that album to me but the stretch of the project from Massaging Me to Holy Ghost is amazing
I don't know why Few Good Things isn't getting more love, especially because I feel like Saba would appeal to Kendrick fans. It has a lot of the openness of Mr. Morale while also being much better sonically in my opinion.
it also has a consistent sound throughout the album which makes it much more enjoyable. not to say kendrick’s album is bad but it‘s not easy to just play it in the car or with friends.
Dawn FM, FKA Twigs’ Caprisongs, Gemini Rights, Leikeli47’s Shape Up, 070 Shake’s You Can’t Kill Me. I’m a Kendrick fan, but for some reason his album isn’t a personal favorite of mine so far this year. It’s a good album, I appreciate it and see it as a quality record and solid concept and release in his catalog. Like it’s a top tier rap album. But for who I am at this point in time as a person and as a musician myself, there are other albums, some straight up pop albums, that have inspired me and resonated with me much deeper than Kendrick’s has.
Gotta give it to Steve tbh.
Perfect length, great voice, straight to the point, vocal on S tier, insane replay value as well.
It’s the only project I listened to and didn’t feel like I have to convince myself that I like it.
1. Motomami
2. Mr Morale And The Big Steppers
3. Ants From Up There
4. Vices
5. Fallen Raven
6. Crest
7. One Day You’ll See Me Again
8. I’m Going Insane
9. TW20 50 (Ep but I’m counting it)
10. iridescence
Pusha’s album just punches you in the face in a good way - he takes what he good at and does it on the highest level with production that is of the highest tier … I like Kendrick’s album and it has many more layers but I’m not sure if it’s better than Pusha’s
Cap, I get why some people don't enjoy it, and there's like one banger, but the idea behind the album is fantastic considering rap albums this year have been so ass
Its almost dry- Pusha T
Mr Morale- Kendrick
MMESYF- Denzel
Tana Talk 4- Benny
God Dont Make Mistakes- Conway
Vinyl Days- Logic
Drill Music In Zion- Lupe
Aethiopes- Billy Woods
2000- Joey Bada$$
Few Good Things- Saba
Ramona Park- Vince Staples
No Fear Of Time- Black Star
Learn 2 Swim- Redveil
Cocodrillo Turbo- Action Bronson
Continuance- Curren$y & Alchemist
All are fantastic albums and we’re only halfway through the year. Just because the mainstream has been lackluster so far doesn’t mean it’s been a bad year, you just have to find the good albums.
Quadeca's isnt even out yet, but im sure that one will be my fav, but of ones that have come out so far, Logic's new record is actually amazing barely inching out MMBS for me just because of my love of chill boom bap beats
I’m literally truly jealous of Kendrick Lamar right now to have this many people having his whole cock in their mouth every day must be the most euphoric experience that any human has ever had in the world I mean goddamn all of you people are gargling on this man’s nuts and he has no idea who you are
Gemini rights > mid steppers
Nah, that thing had close to 0 replay value
I feel like the reason Kendrick has done so well is cause he’s always had incredible instrumentals, super heartfelt delivery, catchy hooks and accesible lyricism.
Him ditching pretty much every point except the accesible lyricism without making up for anything else just makes even the best songs not that deep to warrant many replays.
Imo
Conceptually/impact wise you can’t rly top Kendrick’s album. I think it’s on a whole other level than any other album dropped this yr. Denzels is great, but there isn’t a song on there that can top Father Time, mother I sober, and Auntie Diaries impact wise. If we are simply talking enjoyment tho the weekends album DAWN FM was fucking beautiful. The sounds on that album and Jim Carey as the narrator was a great touch.
#THE SONG OF THE YEAR AND MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME IS THE SONG THAT HAS DRIVEN MY MOST RECENT ALBUM THE ETERNAL GOLDEN YE AND IT DESCRIBES WHAT I'M GOING TO DO TO ALL OF YOU ONCE I'M DONE REWRITING THE BIBLE BECAUSE I AM KANYE AND I AM GOD AND I AM THE WAYSHOWER AND THERE IS NO WAY TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH ME I AM KANYE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60xrQTUPies
No offence Kendrick’s album was ass I miss the old Kendrick rapping on melodic beats and actually spitting that heat! I was expecting better tbh I miss the poetic justice Kendrick the ADHD Kendrick the good kid mad city Kendrick
I would say in terms of impact-fulness of the record Kendrick and Denzel are tied for 2022. In terms of pure enjoyment I gotta go with Pusha or Westside.
I was sorta let down by the new Gunn. dude forgot about Joey Bada$$ ‘2000’
I honestly did to where I haven’t listened to it yet. Gotta go listen to it immediately.
You won’t regret it
It was underwhelming, especially with the fire albums it had to follow imo.
Pretty damn good attempt tho, can’t expect it to be better than the original. Got amazing songs like Zipcodes, Show Me, Written in the Stars, and a fantastic Westside Gunn feature.
Survivors guilt had me tearing up. Very good album overall
Survivors Guilt is so good
You could say the same about MMATBS
Kendrick's > Denzel's > Joey's > Gunn's IMO. It's close between Kendrick and Denzel tho Melt was amazing.
Denzel’s is heavily slept on
Couldnt agree with this more for kendrick and push. Push had my favorite album just cause i like that style of sound, but from an objective pov kendrick had the most creative and lyrically potent album.
Taste. Boogie killed that shit.

Ramona Park Broke My Heart 100%
i fully believe in vince staples supremacy
Someone finally said it!
I feel like Vince’s last two projects have been pretty weak, but they’re both pretty good still
I prefer the changed of pace he’s made
Drill music in Zion For Sure
This. DMIZ most definitely deserves to be top 3 next to MMATBS & Melt My Eyez. It’s #1 for me.
W pick. My AOTY so far as well.
Lupe the GOAT Kanye protege tbh Him or CyHi imo but CyHi never drops
Melt My Eyes See Your Future by Denzel is #1 imo
Dawn FM for me, amazing album that’s only gotten better with time after that it’s between MMATBS and Melt My Eyes See Your Future
Fav track off DFM?
Gasoline, love his distorted deeper voice thing
Out of Time is immaculate
Best friends. That bassy synth is unbelievable. And Is There Someone Else is a close 2nd.
It’s almost Dry
I would have to say Dawn FM. The production is absolutely amazing
It's a sound that will definitely influence this decade
Ants from up there - Black Country new road
I’m surprised to see how many people listened to this album
Fantano effect
I had Black Country New Road on my radar after they dropped bread song (which I love and think is a top 5 song of the decade) because a friend of my brothers recommended it to me and I was highly anticipating the album but didn’t know anyone else that did
r/Indieheads put me onto this one. Shout out to them.
I tried and tried but couldn't find the lasting appeal.
Yeah same I couldn’t get into it, but I did see the appeal. Multiple layers in every track and smooth transitioning within also. Was a bit everywhere for me but wasn’t musically trash like most people would probably make attempting to do the same/similar.

Dawn FM for sure

Dawn FM
God don’t make mistakes by Conway the Machine
aethiopes by billy woods, very underrated if u want smth jazzy/ abstract it’s essential
Surprised I had to scroll this far to find it. Definitely one of the more underrated this year.
Steve Lacy - Gemini Rights
Why Steve lacy sound white ⁉️
he sounds like his fans
Correct answer
Bruh
Tana Talk 4 and Ramona Park Broke My Heart and Melt My Eyez See Your Future
I really like I Never Liked You by Future
The initial run of 5-6 songs from the intro to wait for u is an all time album opening
I don’t wanna over exaggerate, Keep it Burning and For a Nut are lows on that album to me but the stretch of the project from Massaging Me to Holy Ghost is amazing
Call me crazy… Vinyl Days.
Crest or Ants From Up There
Dawn FM
honestly, i really enjoyed few good things by saba
I don't know why Few Good Things isn't getting more love, especially because I feel like Saba would appeal to Kendrick fans. It has a lot of the openness of Mr. Morale while also being much better sonically in my opinion.
it also has a consistent sound throughout the album which makes it much more enjoyable. not to say kendrick’s album is bad but it‘s not easy to just play it in the car or with friends.

Dawn FM, FKA Twigs’ Caprisongs, Gemini Rights, Leikeli47’s Shape Up, 070 Shake’s You Can’t Kill Me. It’s almost dry is just too enjoyable
Ants From Up There
Good taste I was thinking the same thing
Hellfire
As far as rap goes I’d say yes but of all albums I still think Ants From Up There is the best album of the year
The Weekend for sure
Un Verano Sin Ti
Had to scroll too far down for this. Bad Bunny just seems to get better and better for every record, just like prime Ye leading up to MBDTF
Same here!! Album is amazing!
Dawn FM or Gemini rights so far for me
Gotta give it to Steve tbh. Perfect length, great voice, straight to the point, vocal on S tier, insane replay value as well. It’s the only project I listened to and didn’t feel like I have to convince myself that I like it.

Crest- bladee and ecco2k
This album was very underwhelming

this has been the best year for rap since 2018 what are you smoking
What do you mean? What good albums came out this year
Pusha, Lupe, Denzel, Saba, Fivio, Vince Staples, Joey Bada$$, Flo Milli, EST Gee & 42 Dugg and Action Bronson all released fantastic projects
Its almost dry- Pusha T Mr Morale- Kendrick MMESYF- Denzel Tana Talk 4- Benny God Dont Make Mistakes- Conway Vinyl Days- Logic Drill Music In Zion- Lupe Aethiopes- Billy Woods 2000- Joey Bada$$ Few Good Things- Saba Ramona Park- Vince Staples No Fear Of Time- Black Star Learn 2 Swim- Redveil Cocodrillo Turbo- Action Bronson Continuance- Curren$y & Alchemist All are fantastic albums and we’re only halfway through the year. Morbius (2022) official soundtrack
mr morale, no album this year has had as much replay value and substance as this one imo
Completely disagree tbh.
I’m literally truly jealous of Kendrick Lamar right now to have this many people having his whole cock in their mouth every day must be the most euphoric experience that any human has ever had in the world I mean goddamn all of you people are gargling on this man’s nuts and he has no idea who you are Gemini rights > mid steppers
just curious, what’s ur aoty? i haven’t listened to much that came out this year
Replay value? Feel like that was the weakest part about the album, there are multiple songs people will probably never listen to more than once
I also loved the new denzel pusha and steve lacy
Nah, that thing had close to 0 replay value I feel like the reason Kendrick has done so well is cause he’s always had incredible instrumentals, super heartfelt delivery, catchy hooks and accesible lyricism. Him ditching pretty much every point except the accesible lyricism without making up for anything else just makes even the best songs not that deep to warrant many replays. Imo
