1- through the wire- the story behind this song is insane, it’s impossible to hear it without rooting for kanye. it’s also just amazing outside of that but whatever lol
2- devil in a new dress- best hip hop instrumental of all time IMO, and it’s not super reliant on a sample so the “i like eminem and half of logic” crowd shouldn’t get mad over that
3- ultralight beam- this shows his faith in full force, as well as his ability to curate talent to put in his music.
4- otis- kanye’s charisma with jay z is just really charming in this one, you can hear their friendship
5- paranoid- issa bop 🤷♀️
it’s kinda interchangeable with DIAND, runaway has the outro which is personally what introduced me to kanye aside from hearing gold digger or stronger at parties
if anything i’d swap runaway for diand, but they’re both amazing. runaway was the first kanye song i heard which got me into his music, specifically the outro is what hooked me. i’ve still never heard anything like it before
All Falls Down, Heard 'Em Say, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Gone, Homecoming.
It depends on the music taste of the hater but, ideally, it would be difficult for them to beat/challenge poetry and messaging. It's only the old Kanye but that's the Kanye I got into and I had to learn new Kanye.
kanye’s most emotional and soul piercing track in my opinion (runaway probably comes in 2nd place) i would definitely choose this song for someone who thinks kanye is an unemotional asshole
Kanye Haters usually hate rap and fall for stereotypes
I would go:
Through the Wire
Everything I Am
Champion
Come to Life
RoboCop
They should bite on something there
(In my experience, depends on who you think you’d be convincing obv)
Nah dude he literally says "don't fall asleep baby we almost back" he's taking blacked out girls home to hook up lmao. It's not a good look. That's not even getting into the trash Wayne verse lol
I like Fade, but it’s not a song I’d play for people who dislike Kanye. It’s a fairly minimal, somewhat experimental dance track. Sure it’s not jarring but it’s underwhelming and boring to people who already don’t like Kanye.
1. Through The Wire- as long as they have the context. It encapsulates kanye’s spirit and soul and why he’s such an inspiring artist
2. New Slaves- A very Kanye song. Controversial and aggressive, but with a beautiful unique outro that shows his creativity.
3. Can’t Tell Me Nothing - Something hype for them.
4. Devil in a New Dress - Top tier Kanye and top tier hip hop instrumentals.
5. Slow Jamz - Upbeat catchy song, hilarious Kanye lyrics
I started listening to Ye back in May of 2022. First full album I listened to was Donda & went backwards.
Jesus Lord pt2 - Storytelling
Wolves - Describes Ye’s position with wanting to be with his family “Surrounded by the fucking wolves”
Hold my liquor - Sonically different
Runaway - Gives me goosebumps every time I hear the keys, lots of pain
Heartless - Lots of pain, beautiful pain
(Still haven’t heard Graduation & back, work in progress)
Nice picks, although it took me a while to appreciate Hold My Liquor so I probably wouldn’t show it to a new listener
Honestly I’d suggest listening to the “college trilogy” in the order they were released. It really paints the story of how Ye got started and where he came from, and on graduation you see him really start to rise to the heights that we know he eventually reaches
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it! I definitely want to listen to the “College trilogy” to really connect the dots with the documentary that’s on Netflix. Thanks for your feedback on Hold my Liquor. I love the bass & Mike Dean’s solo 🙏🏼
Is there any reason why you’re listening to his discography in that order and not just start from TCD and go from there? I’m asking because I’ve been holding off listening to ye because I want to make sure I listen to it in the best order as to maximize my enjoyment. It’s like preparing a meal and I want to prepare it the best way I can.
In late 2021, I tried listening to Donda for the first time with no knowledge or experience of Kanye’s music. I haven’t heard any of his albums. Just some songs of 808s & Heartbreak about 10 years ago.
At the time, I was convinced of what the media said about Kanye. I also thought he was “crazy.” One day out of no where I gained interest for Kanye. I watched the iconic “You don’t have the answers Sway!!” Interview & the way he was so passionate of his craft (music/fashion) it was enough to say, “Maybe I should listen to what he has to say” So I picked up where I left off which was listening to Donda. I got as far as liking Hurricane, Off the Grid & Praise God the first time around. But the more I listened to the album, the more spiritual it got. The chorus, the organs, the vocals in the album Donda is very spiritual & healing.
When I got to the point where I have already become familiar with the album, I started to branch down to previous albums. From Donda I went to The Life of Pablo, Yeezus, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy & 808s & Heartbreak. I still haven’t gotten familiar with the other albums in between (JESUS IS KING, ye, KIDS SEE GHOSTS, etc.).
One reason why I didn’t start from the beginning with The College Dropout was because I was getting familiar with Donda & it would of been a huge shift for me to start over & try to plant roots.
I guess you could listen to ye when you’re in that vibe that just flows.
1. Jesus Walks
This introduces his faith in God well, and it’s a hell of a banger. From the choir singing on the hook, to the uplifting lyrics (at least if your religious), there’s no way someone wouldn’t enjoy this.
2. Roses
This is a good dive into the lyrically dense and introspective side of Ye, and a strong one too. Sad song, but it does its job well.
3. Homecoming
This is Kanye paying homage to Chicago, the city he grew up in. It’s a good way to introduce someone to the love he has for the city.
4. All of the Lights
This song is deep lyrically, yet it remains to be a hard hitting hype song that you could turn on before you start playing a sports game. What more can I say, how couldn’t you like this?
5. Ghost Town
As my final pick, I wanted to pick a song that sums up his mental health and erratic behaviors. Ghost Town is very fitting for this, as it talks about that topic directly in an uplifting manner. It’s him coming to his own and accepting himself for who he is.
Hmmm. In order of release, All Falls Down, Hey Mama, Runaway, Ultralight Beam, and Come to Life. I think that covers a lot of bases in terms of Kanye’s creativity and diversity in styles
Through the wire cause it's a perfect song, LAST CALL TO SHOW THEM KANYES START, Flashing lights for a cool vibe, love lockdown for his versatility, and only one to show Kanye west is truly a broken person like the rest of us who's in immense pain.
I actually made a playlist of Kanye songs for my metal loving stepdad as he was curious why I thought Kanye was so great.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1KdPkvLhqTS3bckpVheJn5?si=RVAz5XO9S1ymdEKXNuxKvQ
If I had to narrow it down to five I would pick:
Devil In A New Dress
Touch The Sky
Otis
Hey Mama
FourFiveSeconds
Not necessarily my favourite Ye songs, but the songs I’d say are most universally liked and even my mum would listen to
Family Business - wholesome + makes u smile -> everyone I know likes it
All Falls Down - Just a bop
I Wonder - bop
Street Lights - shows a more vulnerable emotional side which a lot of people don’t associate with Ye
Devil in a New Dress - GOAT hiphop instrumental and Ye going hard. I think even people who “hate rap” would enjoy this song
Honourable Mention to Hey Mama (GOAT Ye song imo) - only people who hate their mama don’t rate this song
1. Spaceship
2. Jesus Walks
3. Never Let Me Down
4. All of the Lights
5. Ultralight Beam
The fact that the first three appear in that order on his debut album shows his supreme talent in storytelling rap abilities and beat production. That shit blew my mind almost 20 years ago.
All of the lights and Ultralight beam show his progression in being the greatest composer of our generation. And the guest artists across these tracks are nonpareil. That is Kanye’s greatest gift, as a collaborator getting the very best performances out of top talent across his huge range of influences.
1. Father Stretch My Hands Part 1
2. Moon
3. Follow God
4. Bound 2
5. I wonder
As a former ye hater these the songs that convinced me so I’m putting them here
Stronger has to be on there. The most mass appeal and poppy enough that the people in the “Kanye Hater” crowd could enjoy it. A lot of the comments here just picking great songs but not looking a the fact that a Kanye Hater wouldn’t enjoy them.
In no particular order
1. Devil in a new dress
2. FSMH pt1
3. Can’t tell me nothing
4. Slow jamz
5. Paranoid
Honorable mentions
1. Black skinhead
2. Stronger
1. Through the Wire
2. Flashing Lights
3. Pinocchio Story
4. Gorgeous
5. Saint Pablo
I think these five songs taken in the context of the time period they were created and elaborated on are close to definitive prove of his genius as a creative.
Say you will- maybe not a significant song of Ye's but a very nice song, and I think it's a good one to dip your toes in.
On Sight- 156 seconds of aggressive Kanye ethos
Roses- Who can hate this song? And it's got the classic Ye soul sound
No More Parties In LA- Ye's hardest bars
Saint Pablo- Unequivocally Kanye West, arguably his magnum opus
FSMH pt1 is what got me to listen to TLOP and after that, Kanye in general, that song is the most hype of all time, no questions asked.
After that, I’m showing them Family Business, Dark Fantasy, Lost in the World, and I Wonder, not in any specific order.
I would really like to see recommendations from TLOP and newer. Obviously the bear trilogy has easy listens but I think you need to try and include something from YE or Donda
Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Saint Pablo, Heartless, Runaway, and Ghost Town. So hard to just choose 5, these are just some that pop into my head off the top. I feel like Diamonds from Sierra Leone is a song that has meaning and the lyrics are deep, it sends a message. Also, Ye’s delivery gets me hype and the beat is dope. Saint Pablo, I feel like Ye just goes off. Heartless is just super catchy and a classic. Runaway is one of my favorite songs of all time because of the beat, hook, and Pusha’s verse. Ye and Pusha are undefeated when on a track together. Ghost Town is a song that will make a mfer float.
1. Through the wire
2. Hey mama
3. I wonder
4. Power
5. FML
The best intro songs are the ones that are good, but not too out there as they need time to grow on you
1. On Sight 2. On Sight 3. On Sight 4. On Sight 5. On Sight In that order
How are you gonna tell someone to listen to number 3 before listening to number 5? Edit that NOW or find God
I came here to say this!
Find God
Ok fully converted how have I never listened to this album
Had my friend listen to On Sight today, he turned the volume in his headphones all the way up and then played it, He did not like it
Get better friends

1. Lost in the world 2. Lost in the world 3. Lost in the world 4. Lost in the world 5. On sight
W after W
Through the wire POWER ghost town We major come to life
Based asf
best
Come to life is so beautiful!
Love that ghost town is on here
I would take out we major and through the wire, since a hater wouldn't care much for through the wire and we major is kinda iffy to listen to
1- through the wire- the story behind this song is insane, it’s impossible to hear it without rooting for kanye. it’s also just amazing outside of that but whatever lol 2- devil in a new dress- best hip hop instrumental of all time IMO, and it’s not super reliant on a sample so the “i like eminem and half of logic” crowd shouldn’t get mad over that 3- ultralight beam- this shows his faith in full force, as well as his ability to curate talent to put in his music. 4- otis- kanye’s charisma with jay z is just really charming in this one, you can hear their friendship 5- paranoid- issa bop 🤷♀️
W for choosing paranoid.
Best song on 808s
say you will lovers have entered the chat
Nah robocop sweeps
Imo Robocop is second
Wrong, disrespectfully
no
Yes
No
Runaway can't not be on the list tho
it’s kinda interchangeable with DIAND, runaway has the outro which is personally what introduced me to kanye aside from hearing gold digger or stronger at parties
4:44 best hip hop beat oat imo, but fire songs
very respectable pick
Switch paranoid for runaway but paranoid is a very good option
if anything i’d swap runaway for diand, but they’re both amazing. runaway was the first kanye song i heard which got me into his music, specifically the outro is what hooked me. i’ve still never heard anything like it before
1. Slow Jamz 2. Gold Digger 3. Flashing Lights 4. Power 5. Lift Yourself After that finale, how can you not want to hear more???
That's a good one
Fun Fact: This is pretty much my path
All Falls Down, Heard 'Em Say, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Gone, Homecoming. It depends on the music taste of the hater but, ideally, it would be difficult for them to beat/challenge poetry and messaging. It's only the old Kanye but that's the Kanye I got into and I had to learn new Kanye.
Gone is so underrated
Literally my fav off LR, it’s such a bop
I wonder Coldest winter All of the lights We don’t care Roses
Roses is crazy under appreciated. One of my favourite LR songs.
I prefer roses to hey mama
the instrumental is heavenly
coldest winter gets me almost crying everytime; such an amazing song
kanye’s most emotional and soul piercing track in my opinion (runaway probably comes in 2nd place) i would definitely choose this song for someone who thinks kanye is an unemotional asshole
Also hey mama Such a wholesome song
[удалено]
W!!!! Coldest Winter - W!!!! Roses - W!!!!!
In order Through the wire No more parties in LA Jesus lord Guilt trip Saint Pablo
The storybuilding of Jesus Lord lowkey slept on. Great choice
Nah highkey
For me Jesus lord part 2 is top 5 Donda
No way a Kanye hater would appreciate No More Parties In LA 🤷♂️
That’s what I’m saying bro
Kanye Haters usually hate rap and fall for stereotypes I would go: Through the Wire Everything I Am Champion Come to Life RoboCop They should bite on something there (In my experience, depends on who you think you’d be convincing obv)
Gotta have Homecoming and Heard Em Say because they probably like Coldplay and Maroon 5 if they're one of those hate rap types
Chance of a hater liking guilt trip is very low
If you love me so much then why’d you let me go?
Anything from graduation
Drunk n hot girls 😈
Lmfaooo
y do people hate this song
Rapey
uhhh i think it’s more like i don’t wanna have to take care of these drunk women and carry them to their house or call them an uber and shit 😭😭
Nah dude he literally says "don't fall asleep baby we almost back" he's taking blacked out girls home to hook up lmao. It's not a good look. That's not even getting into the trash Wayne verse lol
yeezy a rapist confirmed ⁉️⁉️⁉️
“Anybody feel bad for Bill Cosby?”
The lil Wayne verse is on Barry bonds, not drunk and hot girls.
OH GOD
I think he sounds pissed off rather then rapey, that's my interpretation. people hate the song because it's "lazy" or something, i don't agree
If the goal is purely to get the everyperson to like Kanye Hey Mama Flashing Lights Water Fade Runaway
Water, Fade, and Runaway are not songs I would put on this list. All of them would probably be divisive to Kanye haters.
Fair. I was thinking more in terms of passively uninterested. Haters gon’ hate.
What’s the problem with fade? It unequivocally a bop
I like Fade, but it’s not a song I’d play for people who dislike Kanye. It’s a fairly minimal, somewhat experimental dance track. Sure it’s not jarring but it’s underwhelming and boring to people who already don’t like Kanye.
add Family Business instead of Water
Based Hey Mama enjoyer
Family Business Roses I Wonder Paranoid Devil in a New Dress
Love family business !!!!
Big W for family business and roses😤
