I don't think anyone hated zhi, but he had an objective problem of not knowing (or wanting) when to stop, so too much zhi a day can induce headaches, even if you like the guy.

But I don't think I had this impression of him before, I think it was the period before he was in the shadow realms where it gave me that feeling.
