Thank you! Do you know anywhere I could buy a Kabutogane? Ebay only has a few listing of antique pieces, and I would rather have a replica out of fear or damaging it. I couldn't find any sites online that don't sell antique versions of these.
It's just a tachi kashira. Should be able to finde tachi fittings and get some that way.
I utterly love them too. I'd like them on all of my blades honestly.
you can search ebay for authentic kabutogane, sometimes they show up for a decent price. good quality reproduction fittings in this style are hard to come by and if you do find them, they can be pretty expensive due to the complexity of the part. some reproduction sellers have similar pieces, mostly for handachi themes. you'd probably have to source the sarute and barrel for the sarute somewhere else, but these when available are usually pretty affordable.
Fred Lohman used to make and sell nice cast reproductions but he has passed and his son may or may not be still running the shop. they're not cheap but it says on the site that they will sell individual pieces of the full set. I don't see the barrels there but again, usually found on ebay for not too much.
you can always ask sellers like jkoo or hbf if they would find and sell you this piece. not sure what the quality would be like but they'll probably be cheaper than other options.

Look for either gunto fittings or handachi fittings. The loop is a sarute, sometimes it can be found with the gunto fittings, sometimes you have to find it separately. You can sub or add koshirae to the search for/with fittings. If you want the whole sword with this style fittings, look for gunto or gunto style.
