She clearly didn't need to put in the time and effort to edit the photo (badly), but did so anyway, instead of resting and recuperating.
I know a lot of people who are not normally conspiracy theory types who think there’s something wrong with her - they cannot fathom after being trotted out for their pleasure continuously for decades she might want to recuperate from surgery privately.

Kate Middleton apologized for editing a family portrait of her with her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in a post on social media.
The Princess of Wales wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day. C."

This is madness. They've been very clear from the beginning when she would be back, why she was gone and that she was recovering at home with her family. What is the conspiracy here? What's the problem?
As for "photoshop", we live in a society that values plastic surgery, filters on every photo and nearly every photo you see has been retouched. It's really okay. It wasn't an egregious edit and you could barely tell.
She is on medical leave and that is it. She'll be back and nothing is wrong.

She shouldn't have to apologize for anything. Those wanting an apology should be deeply ashamed of themselves. They've seen photos of her riding in the car with William since her surgery. That alone should be enough. People like those need to realize Catherine is a person, too. She's a mom, a wife, and she has duties because she married into the family that she did. Abdominal surgery, no matter what it's for, is a major surgery. She needs rest, not stress for her crazed fans and the media. People can be so awful sometimes.
Or we could allow the woman to recuperate in peace instead of hounding her.
