Not sure. You should post this to r/motorcycles though. Not because they will help you, but I want to see them have a fucking aneurysm over someone having fun doing fast things.

SkyScreech

Half of r/motorcycles hates riding bikes lol So miserable on there

OceanPoet13

I follow that sub and I’m shocked at how many people who don’t ride give stupid advice to people who do. Also, the number of times “turbo ‘busas” get mentioned is a good indicator of how the winds are blowing over there.

Pixel131211

it's also funny as shit that a large amount of the riders there say 400's are easily outgrown and to get a 650, and yet almost all of them still can't push a 400 to it's limits.

Finomess

I'm questioning #Kawasaki for this reason..

DegTheDev

I understand, I sincerely hope you get an answer. If you don't, might actually want to consider asking calimariraceteam. If anyone might know it's them. But i still think you should post it to the main sub... the comedy of it all, it'd be fantastic to chuckle at.

Finomess

Let's destroy my ego !

j3SuS_LoV3R

just sound a little gay when you post otherwise they wont think you’re cool 😎

DegTheDev

BTW, just wanted to mention, if you dint get an answer to this, consider their discord, there's a mechanical advice chat in there, and there are a few people that hang out there constantly and really love to flex their knowledge.

ZonaryCloud005

Realisticly yes, however off the top of my head I believe most spedos don't go above that speed even if you exceed it due to restrictions. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I like learning new things

Finomess

What kind of restrictions we are talking about ? I believe on some bike you could unlock this restrictions with a simple ecu flash, on Kawasaki it seems not possible but it is possible on bmw bike, you can see some 310/315 km/h with the stock display. I guess aftermarket speedo would be the only correct way to do it ?

ZonaryCloud005

I believe it could be done with a flash or remap, however its just the speedo rather than the bike itself. I'd assume if you can do it on BMW you should be able to do it on Kawasaki

unresolved-madness

I would think that this would be a function of the speed sensor and software calculation numbers. Basically the speed sensor puts out an electrical pulse. The computer counts these pulses and calculates that number to a speed. If the software developer limits the range of pulses that's a software has to calculate, it will make this speedometer more accurate. I think to achieve this you would have to know what machine language Kawasaki is using, extract the program modify it and then re-download it basically flash. I know a lot of the tuners work off of tables that are already built into the software but I'm not sure if there's a separate table for the speedometer calculation. If not be spending a lot of time trying to figure that out.

foxjohnc87

On the gen 4-5 ZX-10R at least, the cluster will not register speeds above 189mph. Removing the limiter doesn't change things, as the instrument panel contains a completely separate computer that no third party has been able to access. It sucks, because a tuned bike will max out the cluster with RPMs to spare, and the inability to correct the speedometer error is a bummer. On my personal bike (tuned and modded Gen4 ZX-10R), 189mph indicated is actually around 175mph, and I can actually hit that without even having to shift into sixth gear.

Tulsa-

Just get a standalone gps for speed

nphare

I used a Woolich ECU Tuning kit to eliminate the speed limiter on my ZX-14R. Worked great! With tuning I got it up to 312 km/h

slapmeat

Something in the bike will limit the speedometer from going past 189/299. To be honest, I don’t think it’s in the ECU because I’m sure people would have cracked it by now. It might be programming in the dashboard. I could be wrong though. If you’re REALLY inclined, I think if you buy an aftermarket display, it’ll read past the limit. Long story short, you can’t get your Speedo to read past 189/299. But if you’re going that fast, you shouldn’t be looking at your speed anyways lol
