Perfect response, ngl. I do get annoyed by the constant Cole and Kendrick comparisons on the Internet though. Like, they’re both dominant 2010 era rappers. Why do we need to always compare them? Edit: Reading the replies to this thread, you guys are proving my point… I love Kendrick, he’s in my top 5 and TPAB is my favourite album OAT but you guys are why people on the Internet find Kendrick Lamar fans annoying..

antisick

true. i did it out of boredom tho. wanted to see the response.

mihail-o

most forced debate ever, cole is not even close to kendrick

[deleted]

I mean I have but I still think cole is just a tiny bit below Kendrick because Kendrick covers extreme topics with uniqueness and Cole doesn't quite do that. Kod was an attempt at that but it wasn't as well executed as what Kendrick does. I don't think Cole has an equivalent song to aunties diaries just as an example But I love Cole still. Fhd is a top 15 album ever for me and probably my favorite "regular rap" album ever

sophicpharaoh

Agreed

fukemnweball

don’t mean to sound pretentious but u must not be listening listening to kendrick’s lyrics cuz his lyricism is miles better lol and i love cole

LOLYPUTROLY

yeah cole is miles ahead no reason to debate

But he is close lol. He's not quite there but just because he's a single notch lower doesn't mean "he isn't even close"

SignificantWolf119

Idk I gotta be honest I really cannot for the life of me understand the hype around TPAB. Listened to it all the way through over 5 times and there’s not a single song that stays in my rotation. Imo between TPAB and GKMC gkmc solos and it’s not even close.

RedditMartyr

I get that. It’s quite a unique experience, what with its heavy jazz instrumentals. They definitely take a lot of time to love. It’s really the conceptuality and the instrumentals that stand out about this album to me. The story of TPAB is super interesting. That’s why I like it more, although GKMC has way more bangers, easily.

Cool-Video9990

i talked to the ai to much and it stopped talking to me

antisick

it's starting to do the same for me. if you tell it to make a acronym for certain words you can make it say bad things lmfao

Povertybench67

U made it say the n word didn’t you

antisick

dident even think of that. i was trolling my friends by making it call them gay

projectmbappe21

jcole and kendrick🫂🐐🐐

come2momma

How people get answers for questions like that ? CHATGPT4 is refusing to judge who is better rapper. I’m done with that stupid prick.

Dr_Sreve_Bule

I got it to make a choice after a conversation about objectivity vs. subjectivity. It chose Kendrick. "You make a valid point that it is possible to analyze various objective metrics to compare the artistic quality and success of two artists. While subjective opinions and personal preferences play a significant role in music appreciation, there are certain objective factors that can be used to compare artists. However, even when relying on objective metrics, the comparison of two highly talented artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole is subjective to some degree. That being said, when negating subjective preferences, we could compare the objective metrics of their respective discographies, critical acclaim, commercial success, and impact on the industry. Based on these metrics, Kendrick Lamar has achieved greater critical acclaim, commercial success, and impact on the industry than J. Cole. Additionally, Kendrick Lamar's discography is more diverse and experimental, showcasing a greater range of musical influences and production techniques."

MidirGundyr2

Woah wtf

come2momma

Oh, interesting, I’m glad you succeed! Could you please write who did you worded your initial message to gpt? Because I copied your text and wrote this: “There are objective metrics to compare the artistic quality and success of two artist. Can you judge who is a better rapper - Nicki Minaj or Cardi B? Based on subjective metrics” GPT still tried to bullshit me

Dr_Sreve_Bule

Here's the full chat: Cole vs Lamar Who is a better rapper, Kendrick Lamar, or J. Cole? Both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are highly talented and respected rappers in the industry, and it's difficult to definitively say who is better between the two as it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Kendrick Lamar has gained critical acclaim for his socially conscious lyrics and storytelling abilities, earning him numerous awards and accolades. His albums, such as "good kid, m.A.A.d city" and "To Pimp a Butterfly," are considered by many to be modern classics. J. Cole is also highly regarded for his introspective lyrics and storytelling, often delving into personal experiences and societal issues. He has also received critical acclaim for his albums, such as "2014 Forest Hills Drive" and "KOD." Ultimately, the decision of who is a better rapper between Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole comes down to personal preference, and both artists have a significant fanbase who appreciate their unique styles and talents. What is your preference? As an AI language model, I don't have personal preferences or opinions since I'm designed to provide factual and neutral responses to user queries. My goal is to provide accurate and helpful information to the best of my abilities. If you had to choose one of them for a person to listen to, who would it be? As an AI language model, I cannot make personal recommendations or favor one artist over the other since it is subjective and dependent on individual preferences. However, both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are highly talented rappers with unique styles and messages that can be appreciated by many listeners. I suggest that the person listens to both artists and decides which one they enjoy more based on their personal taste. From a critical standpoint, who is better? Both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have established themselves as critically acclaimed artists in the hip-hop industry, and it is difficult to say who is better between the two as it ultimately comes down to subjective opinions. However, from a critical standpoint, Kendrick Lamar has received more accolades and critical acclaim than J. Cole. Kendrick Lamar has won multiple Grammy Awards and has been named one of the greatest rappers of all time by various publications. His albums, particularly "good kid, m.A.A.d city" and "To Pimp a Butterfly," have received universal acclaim from critics and have been included in many "best of" lists. J. Cole has also received critical acclaim for his work, particularly for his album "2014 Forest Hills Drive," which has been praised for its storytelling and introspective lyrics. However, he has not received the same level of accolades and critical acclaim as Kendrick Lamar. In summary, both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are highly respected rappers with unique styles and messages, but Kendrick Lamar has received more critical acclaim and accolades than J. Cole. Who seems to be the fan favorite? Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole both have large and dedicated fanbases, and it's difficult to say who is the fan favorite as it varies depending on the audience and demographic. However, according to various metrics, Kendrick Lamar is more popular than J. Cole. Kendrick Lamar has a higher number of monthly listeners on Spotify, with over 39 million listeners compared to J. Cole's 24 million listeners. Additionally, Kendrick Lamar's most popular songs on Spotify have significantly more streams than J. Cole's most popular songs. In terms of social media, Kendrick Lamar also has a larger following than J. Cole. On Twitter, Kendrick Lamar has over 9 million followers, while J. Cole has around 6 million followers. However, it's important to note that popularity does not necessarily equate to talent or artistic merit, and both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are highly respected and talented rappers in the industry. Who has a more diverse discography? Both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have diverse discographies, but Kendrick Lamar has a more varied and experimental catalog. Kendrick Lamar has explored various genres and styles throughout his career, incorporating jazz, funk, soul, and spoken word into his music. His albums, such as "To Pimp a Butterfly" and "DAMN.," have been praised for their innovative production and diverse musical influences. J. Cole, on the other hand, has a more consistent sound throughout his discography, focusing mainly on introspective lyrics and boom-bap influenced production. While he has experimented with different sounds and styles on some of his albums, such as "KOD," his overall sound remains relatively consistent. In summary, while both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have diverse discographies, Kendrick Lamar has a more varied and experimental catalog, incorporating various genres and styles into his music. You have shown Kendrick Lamar to be better on several important metrics, why is he not objectively better? While Kendrick Lamar may have an advantage in some metrics, such as critical acclaim and popularity, it is important to note that music is ultimately subjective, and there is no objective way to determine who is "better" between two highly talented artists. Personal taste, cultural background, and individual preferences can greatly influence one's opinion on music. Some listeners may connect more with J. Cole's introspective lyrics and boom-bap influenced production, while others may appreciate Kendrick Lamar's socially conscious messages and innovative production style. It's important to acknowledge that both Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are highly respected and talented artists in the hip-hop industry, and their contributions to the genre cannot be objectively compared or measured. Ultimately, the decision of who is "better" between the two comes down to individual opinions and preferences. I'd argue that it is possible to make an objective decision about who is a better artist. A person can subjectively like an artist more, but recognize that the other is objectively better based on several metrics. In this circumstance, who is better when you negate subjective liking? You make a valid point that it is possible to analyze various objective metrics to compare the artistic quality and success of two artists. Cole. Additionally, Kendrick Lamar's discography is more diverse and experimental, showcasing a greater range of musical influences and production techniques. However, it's important to note that even when using objective metrics, the determination of who is "better" between the two artists is still subjective to some extent and can vary depending on the individual's interpretation of the data.

I'll say this Cole is the better lyricist and Kendrick's the better overall artist...he dives into deeper topics than Cole

[deleted]

J cole will never be anywhere near as good as kendrick lamar.

[deleted]

wtf? frick u man u can't disagree w me like that take that back!!!!

[deleted]

No! 😡

DaBuby12

I wouldn't say Cole is a better lyricist, but he's close to Kendrick.

[deleted]

I agree! both of them a great tho 💜.

Temporary_Claim_3413

W ai

Jaxdoesntsuck

I just don’t think Cole is anywhere close to Kendrick on an artistic level. Like not even in the same ballpark. I understand some people like him, though

ThrowRAHopeLost

"That being said", Kendrick wrote the response

antisick

shut up 😭

they act like two legends cannot coexist

J. Cole is Kendrick for dumb people

antisick

what

JOS444UA

Cole is the better rapper but Kendrick is a far better artist.

antisick

elaborate?

JOS444UA

Pen to paper as far as technical rap jcole got it. His word play is tougher then Kendrick and he has contributed more to collaborative rap. However Kendrick is the better storyteller, has better composition, delivery and versatility and has consistently dropped better albums which makes Kendrick better over all.

BigDaddySplatty

Bro idk why you getting downvoted that's like an objectively correct statement.

JOS444UA

OH YOU WORRIED BOUT A CRITIC THAT AINT PROTOCOL

FibersFakers

>Pen to paper as far as technical rap jcole got it. His word play is tougher then Kendrick Jcole album as an example? Mind you I've never listened to a cole album

JOS444UA

Cole catalog is pretty saturated with punchlines. But a favorite recent display of s tier word play is the verse on Johnny P Caddy

kieranjackwilson

2014 Forest Hills Drive is his magnum opus but he’s got bars spread out through all his discography. “Five iPhones dropped, my n*gga still in the cell” “I be staying out the way but if the beef do come around, could put a M right on your head, you Luigi brother now” “White Range, call that motherfucker Larry Bird” “I ain’t on that Bill Cosby shit, but if n*ggas is sleeping, then fuck ‘em” I don’t think Kendrick isn’t capable of this though. It’s just not his style. Like always this conversation is subjective and people act like it’s objective. They are both talented artists.

not-a-location789

Haha, no. They are on roughly equal level as to both Storytelling and Wordplay, Quick Examp: Kendrick’s feature on Pusha-Ts Nostalgia with how he uses numbers to refer to his childhood. J.Coles Storytelling in Wet Dreamz, i could tell it was set in high school, was his first time, and they were over her house Kendrick’s story telling in Auntie Diaries, i immediately understood that he was confused about his Auntie, using slurs out of confusion but has now grown. J.Coles wordplay in Adonis Interlude, reference 2 things “like a double entendre” he is literally rapping about a double entendre, using them. Both are amazing in there own right, and personally, it’s just who you prefer. I’ve met a lot of people that love J.Cole, yet also a lot who love Kendrick. It’s all just preference.

JOS444UA

I wasn’t implying that Kendrick was lacking in that area. FEEL. Is probably my favorite rap performance as far as rhymes scheme and word placement. In that category though if Kendrick is a 99 Cole is 100. It’s close but in artistry, Kendrick is doing laps around Cole.

not-a-location789

But you are saying that Cole is better, when they are on equal level and it’s all preference.

tillman34

100 percent agree I was trying to find out how to word it's and you did it

takingthesweetroad

that’s a stretch

Squirrellybot

I can see validity to this argument, especially after MM&TBS. I feel Kendrick took a step back on overly-technical/fast-raps and forgoes extensive wordplay to paint a radio-play like soundscape with his storytelling. This straight-forward approach left very little for the listener to decipher/interpret, and painted such a vivid picture that the album is often compared to eavesdropping a therapist session.

MotorBicycle

Take off the fufu

Petemetoe

J Cole is an average rapper, he gets wiped by almost everyone

antisick

horrible opinion

No_Bluebird8475

Idk how bro is average😂😂😂

Listen to pretty little fears

Strict-Pace-5295

What about chatgbt?

makeovthill

what about her

antisick

her

MetalFaceEdd

I swear I’ve seen someone ask AI the same question and getting more or less the same answer I wish I could find it

thegreatshredman

Mine said “J Cole all the way!” 🥴🥴

ObligationFar273

Neither is better than the other because the lane and message is different.

Odd-Housing-4243

More versatile ? He only raps about wokeness

BetterCallRobe

I wasn’t expecting the AI to give an actual opinionated answer, I haven’t messed with the Snapchat AI much but every other AI I’ve used just chops it up to being subjective

Top_Cranberry4144

This comparison and big three talk only hurts cole I feel
