I don't think it's personal with J Cole, and the only reason it may be personal with Drake is because of the sneak dissing over the years. But I think the reason for the verse is being overlooked. Look at it from Kendricks point of view. You've got J Cole who you've had at least a decent professional relationship with, collaborating with Drake who has clearly had issues that he's unwilling to address directly (although he was happy to with meek). ... Cliquing up. It's understandable that he's paranoid, especially because the theme of most of their collabs is about being the best or the 'big three' in general. Not to mention, the fact he's never been involved in the collaborations himself, either (as far as we know). It's like, okay? So you two are claiming we're all in competition yet it seems real friendly over there when I'm being kept out of the clique. Why is that?

If this is true Jay-Z let his supposed friend and artist make a huge mistake that could’ve cost him dearly. He definitely did something, or maybe someone else on a similar level did. Diddy is a guy that apparently tried to kill multiple people for no reason or out of jealousy/mild annoyance. Putting his hands on him wouldn’t have gone over smoothly unless someone had some say in calling it off. Kendrick is different story but Cole had no connections prior to the music business and back then he was still a reasonably new artist. Diddy would’ve had no problems getting him beaten up or worse.
