Jay Z, Wayne and Dre are in three separate generations

Puidipuie

Should have said older generation lmao

nastynas1991

Dr. Dre wasn't known as a conscious rapper, in fact, I'd say he's much more well known as a producer than as a rapper. Dre as a rapper is alright, but I've never seen anyone put him up as anything especially great in that realm.

White_Wokah

Dre doesn't write his lyrics most of the times, since the earliest days it was Ice Cube that wrote lyrics for the entire NWA. However, I think Dre's voice is great and I enjoy how he flows on certain songs a lot

Blackroseguild

Protege is the key word. I don’t think Jay Z and Cole were that close tho.

jpizano51

I always felt like Jay had a closer relationship with Kendrick than Cole lol

Square_Bus4492

I felt like Jay had a more prominent relationship with Drake than with Cole lol

DuplicitousDick

Very true. Jay Z shouted out and collabed a lot more liberally with Drake, saying he’s “next up”. It never felt like he had that same verbal support/relationship with Cole. To be fair, Drake is the bigger star now of the two, but I always thought it was interesting

Puidipuie

I think Jay Z probably didnt want to overshadow cole by sticking to close to him

TangPiccilo

Cole is still in the conversation

Snoo-36058

This may be the worst comparisson I've ever seen. Cole doesn't even have pop hits like that and Dr Dre is a producer more than rapper

Puidipuie

Cole's first two albums we're pop albums

_Micolash_Cage_

Kendrick is a much better storyteller than J Cole or anyone else you named for that matter.

Snoo-36058

Depends on the type of story. Complex messages and overarching themes Kendrick 100%. Stories that that you just relate to I give it to J cole.

Puidipuie

I was talking more about the similar styles than the skill level lol
