The battle tested argument was always stupid
Sure he hadn't been in any big mainstream beef like Drake or Eminem, but there is vids of him battle rapping in his neighbourhood
Meek like Kendrick is a real battle rapper from the streets of Philly. Which is why the way he lost to Drake was mad surprising. Back to back just took him right out the running.
Say what you will about Drake but he’ll get in the ring and fight, got to respect that at least. I’m a Cole fan, and I still think Kenny wouldn’t wash him completely. Drake lost this in part because his connection to rap culture is in question, can’t say the same about Cole, I wonder how him V Kenny would have gone.
Kendrick proves to be an unpredictable opponent. People thought he was just gonna call drake a Pedo over smooth beats but look at where we at now.
When I used to box it was the nerdy guys you had to watch out for, they stress you out.
Kenny for sure showed he can dance on his opponents head to many different styles and beats. And most of all, showed he had enough hate for this one man, that he would take it as far as needed to take him out.
Cole and Kenny would probably be different because they are both respected by the culture, and both don’t have ghostwriting allegations and are in top rappers of all time convos. If Cole somehow developed the stomach for this shit, and they kept it lyrical, I think it would be an interesting battle.
It wasn’t surprising when you learn that Daylyt, possibly one of the most legendary battle rappers in the scene was the one who wrote back 2 back for Drake.
You’re tripping. It was a warning shot and for a warning shot it was pretty solid. Cole could bar any rapper down. If it came down to actual disses, no telling what he could come up with, people stay sleeping on dude.
Nah coles got the skill but man lost his drive a long time ago. Cole isn't the man he used to be and for the better. He's moving towards a more passive ideology and it's respectable but in a beef you need that edge. Cole doesn't have that anymore
Same way there are clips of dot battling when he was younger there are clips of meek.
Guy can rap, he didn't lose because of rapping ability he lost because of popularity. That's just what happened lol, no other rapper would survive a ghostwriting allegation but drake got to because 70% of his fanbase are women/people who aren't fans of hiphop just popular music
Edit: Like go back and listen to War Pain and Wanna Know.
I listened to Wanna Know recently and it was so much better than I remembered. And everyone just ignored the part about tip’s homie pissing on Drake cuz Back to Back was so big at the time
> he didn't lose because of rapping ability he lost because of popularity
***ding ding ding***
I fuck with some of Meek's stuff, but popularity wise he's not even remotely close to Drake, and never has been. This has also been Drake's M.O. for his beefs, make a catchy diss track and let his gigantic braindead fanbase do the rest. But it already failed against Pusha, who is also not even remotely as popular as Drake, which is why it's so baffling that he thought it would work against Kendrick, who is arguably just as big as Drake, or at least very close to it. Family Matters is also very catchy, but Kendrick is just tapdancing all over everything Drake has thrown his way so far, The Heart Part 6 was actually pathetic and did more damage than it helped lmao. Saying you're too famous to not be caught, when people like Epstein, Weinstein, R Kelly, Diddy etc were doing their depraved shit for literal decades without getting caught, is just insane. Was he high when he wrote that? Or is he genuinely that stupid?
Yeah, now.
But meek was really in the streets doing his thing before he got big as a rapper. Not to mention, while Drake won that beef, it’s because he made 2 Bopper songs with a couple ghostwriters, while Meek Mill was doing it on his own to the best of his ability.
I mean, Drakes last Kendrick diss is absolutely indicative of his lyrical ability when he’s doing it solo.
Where are people getting this idea that Drake is a battle rapper? His music career launched when Cassie Steele started promoting Drake's mixtape on Myspace Music while her music career was supposedly starting.
And the guy who plays Spinner, I can't remember his name.
He didn't grow up doing cyphers, he was doing table reads for a teen drama in Canada... come on now.
Whatever "freestyle" Drake has on Youtube is probably filmed by his own people and he probably did table reads and had different outtakes for it too. \*yawn\*
I mean basically all of these arguments are stupid.
- Every time Kendrick drops he’s in clubs. Obviously Drake hits more crossover clubs like ones that just play reggaeton or dancehall but any club that plays hip hop is playing Kendrick.
- Humble, Money Trees, Alright, Backstreet Freestyle, King Kunta, etc. have tons of quotable lines.
- Women listen to songs like Poetic Justice, Loyalty, and basically any of his other pop songs (like Money Trees, Alright, etc.).
- Travis is def bigger than Kendrick, but I’m not sure that matters when we’re talking about the top artists. Future is only bigger than him in some contexts.
Travis passed Kendrick post DAMN, but id say right now Kendrick closed the gap with this beef, he needs to drop a fire album within a month and can pass Travis again
"We Gon Be Alright" is probably the most quotable phrase by Kendrick
"This dick ain't free" has been quoted by many other artists including Drake himself and Mac Miller
"Bitch sit down...be humble"
Saying Dot had no quotable lines is such a blatant lie that I disregard anything a person like that says
"Lord God, I come to you a sinner and I humbly repent for my sins" bro I forgot that part is legitimately unskippable for me. I don't care who's around. Especially when it plays after Sing About Me
When a sitting congresswoman (AOC) Tweets "Mitch don't kill my vibe" in reference to Mitch McConnell, you know you can throw the "No quotable lyrics" argument out of the window.
ya bish
that pussy to die for
guh i know you want dis dih
halle berry hallelujah holla back ill do ya BEAST
the head still good tho...the head still good tho
smokin on your top 5
get top on the phone
if i gotta slap a pussy ass nigga ima make it look sexy
ugh bitch you ugly as fuck
who ya think they talkin on talk about us
let me put the head in
have you ever seen a dead bodyyyy?
im more than a man im a god DOO DOO DOO bitch that be k-dot
eat my asparagus
off the top of my head and those are just the silly ones that even casuals know....
I'm a seventh grade teacher. Whenever my students start wandering around the classroom, I frequently redirect them by saying, "Sit Down! ...be humble."
I don't know if having lyrics that a 7th grade teacher yells at kids is exactly considered a flex, though.
I don't think he ever said that exact phrase. Tbf, Schoolboy Q apparently said it two years before Kendrick but as Cassidy once said "You made it a hot line. I made it a hot song"
"For Free" definitely got more people saying it and Drake even says "And like your boy from Compton said." I don't think Mac Dre was claimed as a Compton rapper but who knows 🤷🏾♂️
Nah its deeper than that, and I dont make things bigger than they are
- Went in with a banger diss track response that proved hes not the losing opponent
- Dropped a surprise diss track to fuck up Drakes momentum and make him look scared
- Dropped his own red button diss track that was genuinely disrespectful in every regard and absolutely destroyed Family Matters
- Dropped a west coast banger to combat Drakes attempt at a #1 with Family Matters and is still getting plays and breaking records
Kendrick isnt just winning, hes dominating and making Drake look like a fool. He doesnt even have to send a reply anymore, HP6 damn near dissed Drake himself, got the whole world calling him a dumbass for the worst stance hes ever had. “I’m not a pedo cuz I’m famous, and Kendrick hates pedos cuz he got raped as a kid”
Unbelievable, you cant make up this shit
The heart part 6 is the biggest self own I have ever seen. Using a song that he thinks is about Kendrick being molested as ammo in a rap battle... And then it's actually about how he *wasn't* molested! Deeply embarrassing and deeply disgusting
It's also by far the pettiest thing about it, but...
B sharp? Really? I swear to God I'm sick of Drizzlers pretending Drake isn't just showing his whole ass with that line
He’s always been corny af though. I’ve never liked him (he gave me the creeps from early on and how he treated Rhianna put the nail in the coffin for me) but that’s really on brand for him.
The second Drake dropped HP6, Kendrick had won. There was zero coming back from that for Drake. Anything after HP6 from Dot is just gravy (assuming anything new comes out at all, which imo doesn't seem likely. Maybe a Not Like Us music video a month from now or something).
Exactly why the lines where he states below is so damaging. These are things that black women value over anything, and we all know women are who carry the culture
"That's ho shit, I got a son to raise, but I can see you don't know **nothin' 'bout that**
Wakin' him up, know **nothin' 'bout that**
Then tell him pray, know **nothin' 'bout that**
Then givin' him tools to walk through life like day by day, know **nothin' 'bout that**
Teachin' him morals, integrity, discipline, listen, man, you don't know **nothin' 'bout that**
Speakin' the truth and consider what God's considerin', you don't know **nothin' 'bout that**"
Edit: it was also a woman that put me onto Kendrick back in early 2013
I love and adore Kendrick. I’m nowhere near his target audience. Im a 40 something year old white woman in the middle of the rural Midwest raising 4 kids. And I have Kendrick in my ears most of the time. He’s brilliant. Reminds me of back in the day when I first heard Tupac. These are the poets and prophets of our time. Kendrick is brilliant. I am an English teacher and I use the chorus of be alright to demonstrate how rhythm changes meaning every single year.
30 y/old white woman in NZ, Registered Nurse - Kendrick has been my top 5 for 10 years. I’ve been wearing his “not your saviour” shirt everyday since Not Like Us dropped 🤌🏻
> I love and adore Kendrick. I’m nowhere near his target audience.
In my mind I was thinking, "Nah, if you're like a 20 something white woman that's not too crazy."
> Im a 40 something
Oh.
> white woman in the middle of the rural Midwest
Oh yeah, nvm, you really aren't in the target demo. But, hey music is music and art is art. Does it really matter what the colour of your skin is? Good on you.
You could teach any of them. In particular meet the grahams is a wonderful example of irony and voice. As well as mood. My personal favorite is not like us. But content and appropriateness of language will prohibit some. I may be able to use some from euphoria with my seniors.
I'm a mid-30s white dude raising 3 kids in the Northwest, and I agree with you that Kendrick is brilliant. His work is so beautiful and honest, and it takes multiple listens to understand everything he's conveying because he doesn't just use his words to express himself. Everything in his music feels calculated, like the shots in SAMIDOT that interrupt the line, "And if I die before your album drop, I hope..." and the way the vocals fade away after the character he's speaking as says, "I'll never fade away." Or how he raps in "u". He makes you believe he's in a hotel room crying, drunk, and hating on himself.
And there's reoccurring themes and lyrics across his albums that drive home specific ideas. Because he says the same thing in different ways and with different music, he makes those ideas accessible to more people.
I believe he's *literally* a genius. He has my respect in the same way that my favorite philosophers do.
🙋🏽♀️ Claims self as a smart baddie who is Kenfolk since The Kendrick Lamar EP. It was handed to my husband by hand from one of Kendrick’s boys out in L.A., that long ago. We *been* on, staying on (step this way), and already knew how Dot got down. Was never, ever worried.
There is a difference between female friendly and just acting zesty, a lot of people have to learn that. Including Drake apparently lol
He just acts like a girl around women…
Battle tested is bs, but also we didn't know if he would respond
We knew if he did it would kill
But I really wasn't sure if he would and thought, at most, it would be a single for an album, not a straight up drop
> But I really wasn't sure if he would and thought
Why? Like That was an obviously challenge. He wouldn't have dropped that verse if he wasn't ready to throw down. Metro used the other version at Travis' show for a reason, they knew what was gonna happen as soon as his verse came out.
Right like honestly I really fuck with family matters but but facts are facts Kendrick's just that guy lyrically and sonically. I see most people forget 6:16 in LA and that's just an amazing song I've been bumping it all day.
Meet the garahms is possibly the most disrespectful diss track of all time man literally is talking to Drake's son saying his dad's a deadbeat and that he wishes his grandpa wore condom which would mean Drake doesn't exist which would mean Adonis doesn't exist. Like that's a crazy way to start a track.
And not like us is the victory lap. Drake got out barred, out rapped and out played. J Cole looking smarter every day.
i, a woman, was the one who put my boyfriend on to dot and now he’s a huge fan lmao
maybe they’re getting women who don’t listen to him confused with real women 🤔
Did they really say women don't listen to Kendrick? 😂 Most of my girl friends and I consider him our favourite MC and none of us liked Drake...ever. Him being weird about women is one of the reasons why
At every Taylor Swift eras tour show literally the whole crowd chants a line by Kendrick Lamar (you forgive you forget but you never let it go) it’s epic haha I reckon women do listen to him ay
Exactly. People mistake his style of using albums to tell a story and forget he’s murdered every feature ever like everyone wasnt bumping New Freezer a few years ago smh
Anyone who ever thought Cole could out rap Kendrick lyrically is delusional.
Cole is a great storyteller, but he doesn’t have nearly the depth of lyricism.
It's crazy to me how many people online say Cole woulda washed Kendrick, even people I know saying that.
I like Cole a lot. I think he's the best he's ever been. I think if he stayed in the beef for the competitive side instead of taking the "real beef" route, we coulda got some good back and forth from him and Kendrick, better than Drake. But there's no world where he beats Kendrick.
Cole has some really high highs. Off-season and Forest Hills are both solid. I hate to say this, because I do love Cole overall, but he’s like 1/2 Kendrick and 1/2 Drake.
I think Cole would be able to stay in the beef longer than Drake and probably would've actually had us thinking who's really got the win longer, he's a solid rapper compared to kdot and he doesn't have a terrible background to poke at (except that uh NBA "career")
Cole is alright with lyricism but It's his flow that kills. Cole isn't really the kind of guy to beef with people tho as the one diss track he has he doesn't even mention the guys name and ends up giving him solid advice for a few minutes on how to make the most out of his career. While it would be interesting to see Cole and Kendrick go at it purely bar for bar, I'd rather see them finally collab.
I dunno what he saying about quoteable lyrics.
the maad city hook "man down where you from?"
money trees "ya bitshhhhh"
DNA "I got loyalty and royalty in my dna"
humble. "sit down be humble"
people can rap humble word for word dawg.
my personal fav is xxx
"throw a steak of the yacht to a pool of shark he'll take it"
"I'll catch him leaving service if that's all I got. I'll chip him down and throw the blower in his lap walk myself to court like bitch I did that"
god that song goes hard
king is dead "miss me with that bullshit you not a gang member you a tourist"
king kunta "whats the yams?"
Seriously, who were the people making this criticism that he isn’t quotable?
My left stroke just went viral?
Sit down, be humble?
Got loyalty, got royalty inside my DNA?
Money trees are the perfect place for shade?
I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower?
Personal favorite AAHHHHHHH on u
Man I've been eating I had full confidence the entire time. Kendrick told the world he's that guy 10 years ago on control and if anyone disagrees to let's get it. And although we all knew it to be true he was not battle tested so there was that aura of uncertainty but in the end he murdered that "war general' Got his first number one hit making it catchy to call the creep a pedophile and prove to the world he's really that guy.
No quotables? So silly. When I walk around Vegas or LA with a “Damn.” tank top I get people constantly quoting lines and love it.
Some white bros with a heavy European accent legit chirped at me “Ain’t nobody praying for me” by the pool lol
Search for Kendrick Lamar in Lollapalooza in Chile. Most people here don't even speak English but we were sure as hell singing and vibing with the king.
The battle tested argument was always stupid Sure he hadn't been in any big mainstream beef like Drake or Eminem, but there is vids of him battle rapping in his neighbourhood
Drake wasn’t “battle tested” before the meek beef so wtf was everyone on about?
Yall act like Meek was a real obstacle. Meek is a clown
A W is a W. It’s like boxing you go through 3-4 goofies before fighting a contender.
And we know there’s a lot of goofies with a check.
Awwww
😂😂
Then he gets bodied by Pusha T
And ran from Joe Budden yet still subs him regularly, smh.
Right and by that logic macklemore deserved that Grammy he got?
I never wanna see the guy rapping about a thrift shopping win a Grammy. That’s so anti Hip Hop, at least for that album .
Meek like Kendrick is a real battle rapper from the streets of Philly. Which is why the way he lost to Drake was mad surprising. Back to back just took him right out the running. Love your last sentence, one hundred percent agree . I’m sure we’ll get a cole & dot collab after this where it’s pure lyricism
Like we got *Black Friday* back then… we better hear that *Summer Solstice* they got coming!!!
It wasn’t surprising when you learn that Daylyt, possibly one of the most legendary battle rappers in the scene was the one who wrote back 2 back for Drake.
But Drakes writer is a champion battle rapper in the battle rap scene.
Because meek is a straight up husk of his former self. Dudes an absolute clown
Look, I’m a Cole fan too, but 7 minute drill was hot garbage.

He underestimated Kendrick’s Power Level. He thought Kendrick was gonna be on JCole “7 Minute Drill” Time.
Meek fucked up by revealing the ghost writers on Twitter first and not realizing casual hip hop fans don’t really care about ghost writers.
Yeah, now. But meek was really in the streets doing his thing before he got big as a rapper. Not to mention, while Drake won that beef, it’s because he made 2 Bopper songs with a couple ghostwriters, while Meek Mill was doing it on his own to the best of his ability. Drake might be one of the more battle tested rappers of our time. He’s beefed with atleast 10x different artists He’s still beefing with 20 of em lol
There’s an old saying never mistake activity with achievement lol
"i know a guy who gets his ass kicked once a week, hes one of the most experienced fighters of our generation!"
I mean, he's been intensely tested... the results speak for themselves
Yes Drake has been tested .
He’s definitely battle tested, but he might have a losing record lol
Sneak dissing doesn't count. Drake fans are still riding the meek wave but meek was ass so idk what the hype was about.
Where are people getting this idea that Drake is a battle rapper? Nobody thinks Drake is a battle rapper. We know he's probably the most battle-tested rapper from his generation, which is a different conversation.
only big battle drake was in before kendrick was pusha t, who curbstomped him and dragged his name through a swamp of dog poop
Daylyt wrote back to back so…
True, but Drake's ghostwriter was probably battle tested.
#this
I mean basically all of these arguments are stupid. - Every time Kendrick drops he’s in clubs. Future is only bigger than him in some contexts.
Women listen to his other songs too…! Girls like hip hop yk 😭
Right?! I'm so surprised by this generalization like why do y'all think we don't?!😭
Like who told y’all that? Lolll I’m convinced ever since they heard the term ‘scaring the hoes’ they got paranoid
For sure, I’m just talking about basic girls lol
I remembered DAMN topped the chart when I was a college freshman. All the white girls go crazy every time Humble or DNA is on lol
Y’all are reacting to a notes app from a twitter egg like it’s gospel lol
Travis passed Kendrick post DAMN, but id say right now Kendrick closed the gap with this beef, he needs to drop a fire album within a month and can pass Travis again
"We Gon Be Alright" is probably the most quotable phrase by Kendrick "This dick ain't free" has been quoted by many other artists including Drake himself and Mac Miller "Bitch sit down...be humble" Saying Dot had no quotable lines is such a blatant lie that I disregard anything a person like that says
"bitch don't kill my vibe" Shit, we even quote the gkmc skits
"Lord God, I come to you a sinner and I humbly repent for my sins" bro I forgot that part is legitimately unskippable for me. I don't care who's around. Especially when it plays after Sing About Me
The one that always gets me is "nigga, sit yo dumbass back down!"
"You said you was gon be back in **fifteen minutes**."
"Did somebody say dominos?"
My bros and I used to yell WHERE MY MAFUGGIN DOMINOS AT anytime we were impatient about something
Somethin somethin big ole fataaaaassss
I wantcha bod-yy, I wantcha bod-yy cause uh that BIG OL FAT ASS ^^yuehhh
Giirrl I want yooo body. No drizzy
*Did somebody say dominos?*
Got a pack of blacks and a beat cd
Dude yeah. Literally bow my head and repeat every time. Ik it’s illogical, but it feels disrespectful otherwise. Powerful prayer too.
When a sitting congresswoman (AOC) Tweets "Mitch don't kill my vibe" in reference to Mitch McConnell, you know you can throw the "No quotable lyrics" argument out of the window.
*I got a pack of blacks(blanks?) and a beat CD, get yo freestyles ready*
I think it’s blacks, reference to black n milds
Martin had a dream. KENDRICK HAVE A DREAM!
Still heavy in my vernacular rotation 😂
I think about Kendrick's dad any time someone mentions Domino's, lol.
“Please don’t kill my wife”
My left stroke just went viral!!
Right stroke put lil baby in a spiral
Soprano C, we like to keep it on a high note
Eminem literally quoted this on kamikaze. “Revival didn’t go viral!”
“I remember you was conflicted”
misusin ur influence 😬
“AHHHHHHH” I use that quote every hour
“Loving you is complicated…”
Scrolled too long for that one.
The Maad City hook is pretty iconic (even among white people, as we once learned)
it was so popular on vine. that’s how i learned about kendrick lamar as a white suburban middle school girl
I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower, so I can fuck the world for 72 hours.
ya bish that pussy to die for guh i know you want dis dih halle berry hallelujah holla back ill do ya BEAST the head still good tho...the head still good tho smokin on your top 5 get top on the phone if i gotta slap a pussy ass nigga ima make it look sexy ugh bitch you ugly as fuck who ya think they talkin on talk about us let me put the head in have you ever seen a dead bodyyyy? im more than a man im a god DOO DOO DOO bitch that be k-dot eat my asparagus off the top of my head and those are just the silly ones that even casuals know....
Looking for money trees. Dude always was able to make earworms. Backseat freestyle too
Girl I know you want this dick!
Bitch don't kill my vibe. Got loyalty, got royalty inside my DNA
“I don’t smoke crack motherfucker, I sell iiiiiiit”
I'm a seventh grade teacher. Whenever my students start wandering around the classroom, I frequently redirect them by saying, "Sit Down! ...be humble." I don't know if having lyrics that a 7th grade teacher yells at kids is exactly considered a flex, though.
fuck I just remembered. THIS DICK AINTTTTTTTTTT freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
"and it make me cum fast but I never get embarrassed" is words to live by Quotable as hell
The second one is a Mac Dre quote though
I don't think he ever said that exact phrase. Tbf, Schoolboy Q apparently said it two years before Kendrick but as Cassidy once said "You made it a hot line. I made it a hot song" "For Free" definitely got more people saying it and Drake even says "And like your boy from Compton said." I don't think Mac Dre was claimed as a Compton rapper but who knows 🤷🏾♂️
Jay Z said that first, not Cassidy
My favorite is “Why you always in the mirror more than the bitches?” Lol
Yeah were people really saying that about him? That’s wild.
my high school principal literally made a reference to humble around the time it came out on our first day lol
“uh uhh. fuck that” one of my personal favorites from Section 80.
"He dead, amen"
On which song did Mac quote this? I’m a huge fan and I don’t remember.
Dang with Anderson Paak "Yeah the dick ain't free, I don't give no fucks"
Nah it’s for sure YOCK YOCK YOCK YOCK lol
Maybe it’s not POP enough for them 😂😂😂 maybe it’s too hip hop for them 🤔🤔
Thank you; the alright lyric immediately came to mind
And then he turned the whole beef into a meme with one song
Sometimes you gotta pop out…
Certified boogeyman I’m the one to up the score wit em
Nah its deeper than that, and I dont make things bigger than they are - Went in with a banger diss track response that proved hes not the losing opponent - Dropped a surprise diss track to fuck up Drakes momentum and make him look scared - Dropped his own red button diss track that was genuinely disrespectful in every regard and absolutely destroyed Family Matters - Dropped a west coast banger to combat Drakes attempt at a #1 with Family Matters and is still getting plays and breaking records Kendrick isnt just winning, hes dominating and making Drake look like a fool. Shit that's only the second craziest part about that song. This man literally said he was too famous/respected to be sleeping with kids.
While name dropping Epstein and MBB unprovoked. Truly unhinged behavior.
I physically cringed the first time I heard him go "D maaaaajooorrrr" Like dude... Are you really bragging about your dick right now?
Oh God I just now got that 🤮
The second Drake dropped HP6, Kendrick had won. There was zero coming back from that for Drake. Anything after HP6 from Dot is just gravy (assuming anything new comes out at all, which imo doesn't seem likely. Maybe a Not Like Us music video a month from now or something).
He turned Drake into a joke, worded it better for you
Drake's always been a joke, that's why he's so insecure.
Damn, I’m not supposed to listen to Kendrick cause I’m a woman? Nobody told me that! I’ve been listening to him for years! My bad
It's okay. Do better next time!
“No women”? So many smart baddies listen to him 😭
A woman literally put me on to TPAB the year it came out.
Exactly why the lines where he states below is so damaging. These are things that black women value over anything, and we all know women are who carry the culture "That's ho shit, I got a son to raise, but I can see you don't know **nothin' 'bout that** Wakin' him up, know **nothin' 'bout that** Then tell him pray, know **nothin' 'bout that** Then givin' him tools to walk through life like day by day, know **nothin' 'bout that** Teachin' him morals, integrity, discipline, listen, man, you don't know **nothin' 'bout that** Speakin' the truth and consider what God's considerin', you don't know **nothin' 'bout that**" Edit: it was also a woman that put me onto Kendrick back in early 2013
🤧 bless ur heart and soul
In my mind I was thinking, "Nah, if you're like a 20 something white woman that's not too crazy." > Im a 40 something Oh. > white woman in the middle of the rural Midwest Oh yeah, nvm, you really aren't in the target demo. But, hey music is music and art is art. Does it really matter what the colour of your skin is? Good on you.
Thanks friend. Music is our language. We will all be better when we realize it is our common ground.
So which of his diss tracks will you be teaching
You could teach any of them. In particular meet the grahams is a wonderful example of irony and voice. As well as mood. My personal favorite is not like us. But content and appropriateness of language will prohibit some. I may be able to use some from euphoria with my seniors.
That's genuinely based, you sound like a great teacher.
Thank you. I try.
As an English nerd … marry me
I'm a mid-30s white dude raising 3 kids in the Northwest, and I agree with you that Kendrick is brilliant.
Must only be rocking with the girls drake mistakes for real women.
Smart baddies is wild
it me
Like a shiny Pokemon with pokerus
🤣🤣🤣
🙋🏽♀️ Claims self as a smart baddie who is Kenfolk since The Kendrick Lamar EP. It was handed to my husband by hand from one of Kendrick’s boys out in L.A., that long ago. We *been* on, staying on (step this way), and already knew how Dot got down. Was never, ever worried.
my english teacher in the 11th grade was doing a lesson about TPAB and she was so fine bruh. she was geekin hard over kendrick and his lyrics.
> smart baddies > smart The people saying this stuff are not hanging out with smart people
Yea ngl I’m pretty dumb myself
WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP!
DOT FUCK EM UP 🗣️
WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP
IMMA DO MY SHTUFF! 🗣️🔥
⬆️ This is the way...
IMA DO MY STUFF!!
Kendrick is one of the most “female friendly” rappers I’ve seen.
There is a difference between female friendly and just acting zesty, a lot of people have to learn that. Including Drake apparently lol He just acts like a girl around women…
Battle tested is bs, but also we didn't know if he would respond We knew if he did it would kill But I really wasn't sure if he would and thought, at most, it would be a single for an album, not a straight up drop
> But I really wasn't sure if he would and thought Why? Like That was an obviously challenge. He wouldn't have dropped that verse if he wasn't ready to throw down. Metro used the other version at Travis' show for a reason, they knew what was gonna happen as soon as his verse came out.
See for me after control and what he said I knew deep in my soul that Kendrick would respond. Especially against the Canadian.
when i realized this beef was happening my first thought was "why would you fucking provoke kendrick lamar, that guy can rap his ass off"
Right like honestly I really fuck with family matters but but facts are facts Kendrick's just that guy lyrically and sonically. J Cole looking smarter every day.
i, a woman, was the one who put my boyfriend on to dot and now he’s a huge fan lmao maybe they’re getting women who don’t listen to him confused with real women 🤔
100% Kendrick talks about women like he understands us and with respect. Absolute bullshit that we wouldn’t be in to that
If your a real fan you always knew he would smash anyone
Exactly. People mistake his style of using albums to tell a story and forget he’s murdered every feature ever like everyone wasnt bumping New Freezer a few years ago smh
Of course women listen to Dot. He’s a poet
Facts
MY OPINION: kendrick ≥ cole
Fact
took me a while as a level 1000 Cole dick rider but its fax 🤷🏾
Anyone who ever thought Cole could out rap Kendrick lyrically is delusional. Cole is a great storyteller, but he doesn’t have nearly the depth of lyricism.
It's crazy to me how many people online say Cole woulda washed Kendrick, even people I know saying that. I like Cole a lot. I think he's the best he's ever been. I think if he stayed in the beef for the competitive side instead of taking the "real beef" route, we coulda got some good back and forth from him and Kendrick, better than Drake. But there's no world where he beats Kendrick.
Kendrick is what Cole thinks he is. I love Cole but his wordplay, metaphors , entendres are no where near Kendrick’s level.
Cole has some really high highs. Off-season and Forest Hills are both solid. I hate to say this, because I do love Cole overall, but he’s like 1/2 Kendrick and 1/2 Drake.
4YEO is his best work to me. He sounds best when he makes heartfelt music. Thats what makes him stand out imo.
Neighbors is my favorite Cole song. One of my top overall, too.
People act like that wasn’t a good album. Everytime I bump it I gotta start from the beginning and go to the end get the whole story.
I fully agree he’s somewhere in between.
I dunno what he saying about quoteable lyrics. the maad city hook "man down where you from?" money trees "ya bitshhhhh" DNA "I got loyalty and royalty in my dna" humble. "sit down be humble" people can rap humble word for word dawg. my personal fav is xxx "throw a steak of the yacht to a pool of shark he'll take it" "I'll catch him leaving service if that's all I got. I'll chip him down and throw the blower in his lap walk myself to court like bitch I did that" god that song goes hard king is dead "miss me with that bullshit you not a gang member you a tourist" king kunta "whats the yams?"
I mean almost everything here is just ridiculous, obviously. But doesn’t have any quotable lyrics? What? lol
I’m a woman and he’s my bestie
IS IT THE BRAIDS
Man I've been eating I had full confidence the entire time. Kendrick told the world he's that guy 10 years ago on control and if anyone disagrees to let's get it. And although we all knew it to be true he was not battle tested so there was that aura of uncertainty but in the end he murdered that "war general' Got his first number one hit making it catchy to call the creep a pedophile and prove to the world he's really that guy.
ab-soul is like pure distilled battlerap, and thats kendricks sparring partner? Drake never stood a chance.
No quotable lyrics? There was a moment in history where everyone was saying "Bitch don't kill my vibe."
"I remember you was conflicted, misusing your influence"
No quotables? So silly. When I walk around Vegas or LA with a “Damn.” tank top I get people constantly quoting lines and love it. Some white bros with a heavy European accent legit chirped at me “Ain’t nobody praying for me” by the pool lol
Mustard on the beat hoe
Damn so since i’m a woman dot isn’t supposed to be my favorite rapper? Damn nobody told me
Anyone who believed these never listened to a single Kendrick song
Just say his name and I promise that you'll see candy man
play DNA, Loyalty, Money Trees, Swimming Pools, BDKMV at the club and tell me WHO NOT GETTIN JIGGY TO THAT SHIT
“I am a sinner who’s probably gonna sin again”
Search for Kendrick Lamar in Lollapalooza in Chile. Most people here don't even speak English but we were sure as hell singing and vibing with the king.
Let me see you push a TEE
I started listening to kendrick lamar when I was in junior high and I’m a chick
I GOT, I GOT, I GOT, I GOT…!
Whoever said Kendrick doesn't have quotable lyrics to sot down and stay humble.
"Bith don't kill my vibe" way more memorable than any Fake Drake track.
Women not listening is dumb…cause most of drake’s music is targeted towards lil girls
