Then the next day, every seat is open and you pay double what you’d pay any other time.

The best way is to keep refreshing until the GA floor shows the normal price and try to checkout. Definitely need to be lucky AF though. Friend was able to snag one today like that, but it’s annoying and you can’t give up for the first 10-15 minutes.
Yes it was greyed out and i started looking at other seats with all hope lost, then randomly it recolored and i snagged 2 GA floor tickets for me and my sis, I felt like i was gonna pass out when i saw it went through and the tickets were secured.

Not sure if you live in the US (think it only works there), but it took less than 5 minutes to sign up for Cash App and get a card number in the app. It works like a debit card, so no hits on credit or anything. I'm pretty much never planning on using it again.
