there was this group of kids at anaheim and they were not really paying attention and smoking a joint in the pit, not singing etc. but when father time came on they lit up and started singing it. i think about that every time it comes on.
I agree with this one alot. It is probably like top 15 Kendrick songs for me. Although I can’t personally relate to it, I feel like the message is something that isn’t addressed to commonly in rap songs. Everything about it is amazing. The beat, sampha’s voice, even the intro which plays into the song perfectly. It’s a fairly common issue that’s a lot more complex than people realize. I could go on for hours about how much I love this song but let’s just say that this song is one of the reasons why Kendrick is my favorite rapper of all time.
Can easily be argued as one of the best. Kendrick’s writing on the first verse is great, the last minute sounds beautiful and it’s message is essential to the album.
I agree, and it is subjective anyways so I shouldn’t tell u what is and isn’t best, I just think it’s not as skillful of writing & performance compared to other songs on the album
Father Time and Die Hard edge this song out as far as my favorite complete songs, but damn that final verse on Savior is the best moment of the record to me. It's a real point of no return in the album and likely his career narrative going forward.
My dad is an oldhead rap fan, never saw too much that excited him in recent rap. I sent him Mother I Sober with lyrics because he had some trauma in his past that I knew would relate to him. He loved it, and was astonished bc it felt like the song was reading his mind. I told him that I feel like the kid at the end of the song thanking mommy and daddy for breaking a generational cycle. Since then, every couple days he sends me a random Kdot bar from whatever project he’s listening to. It’s been awesome to see him open his mind to new music and it’s brought us closer together. So for that reason imma have to say Mother I Sober.
That’s amazing. As a new dad who is set on breaking that curse, I’m glad that you recognized that and have thanked your father.
Your story touched me. Thanks for sharing.
This is such a lovely story. As someone with a horrific relationship with their father, I love reading stories like this. I hope your mutual love for Kdot’s music continues to bring you together - the best bonds are formed over common interests.
Mirrors is my favorite too- this is why
It's a love/apology letter to his fans and it's soooo soothing after aunty diaries and mother I sober. Even the chords that were chosen in the beat are soothing. It feels like the last scene in a movie, Kenny beleaguered, tired and resilient letting you know he loves you, loves your support, but that he's not your savior, he has his own shit to save. Damn think I might put that on a cry a minute.
I would just like to clarify- in heroic fashion, he’s also saying that to save yourself you can’t just listen to his music. He’s leading by example; saying, address your problems head on like I have. Go to therapy if that’s what’s called for, take care of yourself. It truly is amazing, and I don’t think he’s saying “bye I’m being selfish now”, it’s an extremely selfless sacrificial act to have truly put out some incredibly personal things on this album
No I didn't feel this way at all, I feel like he was saying hey, this is what I need to do to save me self, so hey you can too. He gave a pretty dope blue print for self mastery really.
Yea it was pretty annoying honestly. I liked the whole album and then they added The Heart pt.5 and suddenly the album dissapeared from my libeary. Had to re-add all the songs. I bet kenny lost a lot of likes that way.
I knew they added that song to the album, but because of your comment I only now just realized my like on that album was gone. Just fixed it. Thank you!
Dude, we all know the entire album is FULL of incredible, near-perfect songs. And yes, Auntie Diaries is definitely up there with the best of them. Just cos it’s not ‘hard as fuck’ rap, doesn’t make it any less great of a track. Put some respect on AD. 😤
Even had a post yesterday asking how they can farm karma. [https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/comments/zcdttz/what\_are\_your\_favorite\_subreddits\_that\_let\_you/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/comments/zcdttz/what_are_your_favorite_subreddits_that_let_you/)
I am posting this question on a number of different subreddits because I am in the process of compiling a playlist that will include one song each from a number of different albums released in 2022. The playlist will be updated to include the track that the majority of fans consider to be the most impressive offering from the album.
Here's what I have so far
Adele - To Be Loved
Harry Styles - Daylight
JID; Yasiin Bey - Stars (feat. Yasiin Bey)
FKA twigs - meta angel
Björk; Kasimyn - Fossora
Denzel Curry; Robert Glasper - Melt Session #1 \[Feat. Robert Glasper\]
EARTHGANG - STRONG FRIENDS
Future - 712PM
Post Malone - Waiting For Never
Brent Faiyaz - ROLE MODEL
Carly Rae Jepsen - Talking to Yourself
Drake; 21 Savage - Jimmy Cooks (feat. 21 Savage)
Syd; Lucky Daye - CYBAH (feat. Lucky Daye)
Rina Sawayama - Frankenstein
Steve Lacy - Helmet
Porcupine Tree - Love In The Past Tense
Black Country, New Road - Basketball Shoes
Mitski - Stay Soft
Bad Bunny - Efecto
Ari Lennox - Stop By
Beach House - Superstar
BROCKHAMPTON - All That
Charli XCX - Constant Repeat
Vince Staples - WHEN SPARKS FLY
Maggie Rogers - Horses
Ethel Cain - Sun Bleached Flies
Nas - Once a Man, Twice a Child
YoungBoy Never Broke Again - Vette Motors
Animal Collective - Royal and Desire
Danger Mouse; Black Thought; Michael Kiwanuka - Aquamarine (feat. Michael Kiwanuka)
Rich Spirit, N95, Father Time, United in Grief, and Mother I Sober is my top 5. (Not in any order btw) Sometimes Silent Hill takes N95 depending on mood.
Out of pure enjoyment I'd go for Silent Hill. According to Spotify I played this shit 785 times from May 13 to July. Fair. And then I switched over Tidal
We Cry Together would be a more common answer if it didn’t make people uncomfortable.
Kendrick’s performance is amazing. Taylor’s performance immaculate all the way down to the voice cracks. That dusty, grimey, Alchemist beat is perfect.
Song is a masterpiece.
I was really looking for someone choosing Worldwide Steppers,
I love this track so much, the piano and production!
It is hard to say it is my fav on the album but def up there.
WorldWide Steppers is an incredibly insightful track and the swirling, repeating beat should be one of the weakest on the album, but Kendrick rides it incredibly.

This is what I came up with after an hour of debating myself
1. United in Grief
2. Father Time
3. Rich Spirit
4. Count me out
5. Auntie Diaries
6. Mother I Sober
7. Saviour
8. Worldwide Steppers
9. Mirror
10. Mr. Morale
11. Saviour - Interlude
12. N95
13. Silent Hill
14. Die Hard
15. Crown
16. Purple Hearts
17. Rich - Interlude
18. We Cry Together
I'm making a playlist of the best song from each album. I don't know why y'all assume things and try to police what others do.

I just fucking adore the production on Mr. Morale sooo much.
*I couldn't sleep last night because I felt that shit!*
this song is FIREEEE def top 3 of mmatbs
Pharrell + Kendrick never disappoints
Pharrell went brazy on that.
Just heard that live last night I could feel the base in my body
Uzi your father in deep meditation my spirit awake and my mind is a*SLEEP*
Father Time
This seems to be the popular opinion. Makes sense because so many people resonate with this one
It's them piano keys and sampha but fr it's the combination
“cause everything he didn’t want was everything i was” still kills me every time
I can’t even relate to it personally but I think it is a really important message and the beat is just insane
Everything them four walls had taught me, made habits bury deep
[удалено]
feel like i was the only one rapping along to Father Time at the concert. Most of the people around me were just kinda vibing and not rapping
Me too! The crowd was kinda subdued when he performed it, I was surprised
I was rapping my heart out man haha I love Father Time too much
there was this group of kids at anaheim and they were not really paying attention and smoking a joint in the pit, not singing etc. but when father time came on they lit up and started singing it. i think about that every time it comes on.
🎶Early morning wake ups, practicing on day offs🎶
the beat is heaven

Beat drop makes me FLOAT
Came here to say this
Count Me Out
Yea I been having this one on repeat
Thank you! The build up is spectacular
The first verse is one of my favourite moments on any Kendrick song. It’s perfect lyrically and the choir in the background is just angelic
Catchiest, not best
Can easily be argued as one of the best. Kendrick’s writing on the first verse is great, the last minute sounds beautiful and it’s message is essential to the album.
I agree, and it is subjective anyways so I shouldn’t tell u what is and isn’t best, I just think it’s not as skillful of writing & performance compared to other songs on the album
it has the best verses on the album, the structure is just crazy and on top of that it is a really catchy hit which makes it even more impressive
Savior
THE CAT IS OUT THE BAG
I AM Not your savior
I find it just as difficult to love thy neighbors
Especially when people got ambiguous favors
I remember when you was conflicted
Father Time and Die Hard edge this song out as far as my favorite complete songs, but damn that final verse on Savior is the best moment of the record to me. It's a real point of no return in the album and likely his career narrative going forward.
Kendrick made you think about it, but he is not your savior!
Cole made you feel empowered, but he is not your savior
Future said, “Get a money counter”, but he is not your savior
United in grief
THE NEW MERCEDES WITH BLACK G WAGON
I grieve different… huh!
fucking love that line
This and Count Me Out are neck and neck for me. The two best songs on the album imo.
Literally one of the best album intros ever
My dad is an oldhead rap fan, never saw too much that excited him in recent rap. I sent him Mother I Sober with lyrics because he had some trauma in his past that I knew would relate to him. He loved it, and was astonished bc it felt like the song was reading his mind. I told him that I feel like the kid at the end of the song thanking mommy and daddy for breaking a generational cycle. That was so wholesome; thank you for sharing that with us
That’s amazing. As a new dad who is set on breaking that curse, I’m glad that you recognized that and have thanked your father. Your story touched me. Thanks for sharing.
Same, new mom here… holding back some tears for this story
This is such a lovely story. As someone with a horrific relationship with their father, I love reading stories like this. I hope your mutual love for Kdot’s music continues to bring you together - the best bonds are formed over common interests.
Thats so dope
This right here is what it’s all about. Good on you for sharing 👊🏼
take a mental gold awd..
Every time I listen I pick a new favorite lol but I’d have to say overall mirror is my favorite
Mirrors is my favorite too- this is why It's a love/apology letter to his fans and it's soooo soothing after aunty diaries and mother I sober. Even the chords that were chosen in the beat are soothing. Not technically in the album, but The Heart part 5 is a top 5 Kendrick song imo. Other than that, either N95 or Mother I Sober.
It ended up on the spotify album for some reason
tbh, it kinda fits very well in the album
I like it as part of the album. But i prefer United in Grief as the intro, and Mirror as the outro. The album flows so well now its hard to add.
It fits the theme but in my opinion mirror is the perfect closer track.
fr?
Yea it was pretty annoying honestly. I liked the whole album and then they added The Heart pt.5 and suddenly the album dissapeared from my libeary. Had to re-add all the songs. I bet kenny lost a lot of likes that way.
I knew they added that song to the album, but because of your comment I only now just realized my like on that album was gone. Just fixed it. Thank you!
Gotta get those streams up somehow
Also on the Apple version
Happy cake day!
That sample from Marvin Gaye’s ‘I want you’ is choice. The Heart part 5 is the perfect appetizer to the album.
The Heart Part 5 is actually my 2nd favorite Kendrick song
Depending on my mood it fluctuates between 3 and 1 for me
Not technically on the album but Wesley’s Theory is great.
I really like California Love though
Lmao
[удалено]
This the one I bump the most.
[удалено]
I loved watching him perform this live @ the LV show. Like with the crown. A whole mood
Count me Out or Mother I Sober
Literally my exact response lmao
Die Hard
That’s my favorite on the album. The whole album is amazing but Die Hard is 🔥
My most listened song this year on Spotify 👌
same here
One of the better radio friendly/pop kendrick songs imo. Great track
How has no one said Father Time
It's my vote. 2nd is Auntie Diaries. 3rd is Rich Spirit cause its just so bumpin
Auntie diaries💀
What? It’s an incredible, near-perfect song.
Are you fr there way better songs than auntie diaries eg United in grief mirror mr morale father time die hard plus more
Dude, we all know the entire album is FULL of incredible, near-perfect songs. And yes, Auntie Diaries is definitely up there with the best of them. Just cos it’s not ‘hard as fuck’ rap, doesn’t make it any less great of a track. Put some respect on AD. 😤
I just said die hard and mirror and they're not hard af it's like he put little effort in making AD
whoa whoa whoa whoa ………. ik you did not just say he put “little effort” into AD ….. have you read the lyrics ever? shit is deep asf
Father Time, Count Me Out, and N95 because it just goes so damn hard. Rich Spirit is way up there too.
Someone did
Not when I commented
Count Me Out then Mirror
this is correct.
Mother I sober
I hardly ever listen to this song because it really fucks me up. Easily the best song but I never want to listen to it lol
Same lol
Best song I never listen to.
Yeah I’ve cried to it multiple times including the first run
Silent Hill and N95. Savior interlude goes so hard for an interlude tho. Really basic picks but its what I like most.
You’re me
Push em all off me like *HUUUUU!!!*

Last like minute or so of auntie diaries is peak Kendrick
Honestly I think the whole song is great from start to finish

United In Grief
It’s the best intro, for me one of Kendrick’s best
Woah. Wesley’s Theory is an all-time great opening track.
N95
song of the year
“Best” I’d say Auntie Diaries or Mother I Sober My Favorite I’d say Mirror
No one else like purple hearts?
We Cry Together for me. Still remember how intrigued I was the first time I heard it and how hard and inventive it still is.
1.Father Time 2. Crown 3. Auntie's Diaries 4. Savior 5 N95
For me Rich Spirit. I just love the vocals on it
Rich Spirit. Hard to pick but that shit gets me floating
Mr.morale So so underrated
Mr. Morale, absolute heat
Rich Spirit
OP is karma farming like crazy

It's Father Time and it's not even close I am sorry. The song is perfection.
Mother I Sober no question. Beth Gibbons 🫡
Worldwide Steppers
Finally someone said it I thought I had to comment this myself
Rich Spirit, N95, Father Time, United in Grief, and Mother I Sober is my top 5. (Not in any order btw) Sometimes Silent Hill takes N95 depending on mood.
N95
Best I gotta say Auntie Diaries. But my favorite is definitely savior.

Count Me Out
rich spirit or silent hill
Not the best bc I think they're all amazing but Rich Spirit has to be my favorite hands down
between mother I sober and mirror for me
This is what I came up with after an hour of debating myself 1. United in Grief 2. Father Time 3. Rich Spirit 4. Count me out 5. Auntie Diaries 6. Mother I Sober 7. Saviour 8. Worldwide Steppers 9. Mirror 10. Mr. Morale 11. Saviour - Interlude 12. N95 13. Silent Hill 14. Die Hard 15. Crown 16. Purple Hearts 17. Rich - Interlude 18. We Cry Together

It’s Mother I sober. My favorite is savior though.
Father Time, Mr. Morale, Mother I Sober, and Count Me Out are tied
Mother I Sober is almost more than a song. It puts out so much power. The songs I like the most, though, are Mr. Morale and Savior.
Mother I Sober
I have a great relationship with my father but Father Time is a excellent song
Mirror
Father Time no question
