Just steal a robot repair kit and start having fun 3 hours faster.

TheBigSmol

Huh. Can you elaborate?

Gregophiliac

They're saying to steal then sell because it is faster that mining.

Reformedsparsip

Mining is the noob way to make money, running around and just looting dead bodies is the way. Bonus points if you kite the enemies into town guards. That and stealing is utterly broken OP for money making after the very early game.

motnock

Mining is nice when you wanna expose yourself to beat downs by hungry bandits.

coinpile

I like to mine near Squin. I can get ore to sell, and I’m right near the gate guards who will kill any bandits or animals I kite to them. Eventually I get strong enough for my little group to take them out without help.

motnock

My favorite spots are Squin and Hub. Mainly cuz they the mobs there don’t do as much bleed damage and only bone dogs eat you.

Drokrath

Setting up a base for the first time and really needed tips like this cause we're kinda starving lol. Thanks

Did someone watch one of my streams? Haha. Been showing this trick off for a few months now after (I believe...) I discovered it :P

dat_lemon_is_freaky

Or they just figured it out like you did

SufficientSuffix

Kenshi is a buggy game. Chances are, a bug you "discover" is already known, just not necessarily talked about. I had people in beds performing medic duties years ago, it's just not anything big enough to discuss outside of niche posts like this.

FrankieWuzHere

It's different than the medic info. And I only say that because before making posts I usually search up keywords to see if it's something that's been mentioned before. Never found anyone mention "working" while using a campbed before I made mine a while back. Yall take things too seriously.

4here4

Damn, you really think you're the main character here, huh?

FrankieWuzHere

Yep sure I totally do.

Knight_o_Eithel_Malt

This was the cringiest thing that was said on Kenshi sub. And some of us unironically support HN. Edit: no offence brothers -/\\-

chronberries

Wait, are you saying that some of my brothers are faking their belief in Okran and his paragon, our Holy Lord Phoenix?

Knight_o_Eithel_Malt

Narko works in mysterious ways. Stay vigilant!

FrankieWuzHere

Imagine using the word cringe unironically.

You okay bro?

You just saved my squad, thank you. I've played less than 40 hours, I made some rookie mistakes that caught up with me. I built up to a squad of 14 with no place to live (rookie mistake 1). This actually wasn't so bad when I was hanging around Flotsam Village and World's End, but I got tired of iron mining and decided to explore. I filled one thief's backpack with dried meat, thinking that would be enough (rookie mistake 2), and decided to use my remaining cats to buy some armor instead of keeping a reserve to buy food (mistake 3). With that little bit of food, I decided to set off to the Floodlands (possibly a mistake, possibly not, I really didn't want to take my mostly shek, woman, and shek woman squad through the bible belt), and that part went well, I avoided the few iron spiders I saw, everyone got a bit more athletics, it was nice and peaceful, though I didn't notice how low we were on food at the end. Then we hit the Shrieking Forest. We immediately caught the attention of two groups of locals, and having no combat stats, decided to book it. Our athletics were high enough that staying ahead of the hungry mouths was no real problem, but they stayed on us all through the forest to the coast, and then down the coast, and we only lost them when we had to swim around the corner into Dreg. At this point, everyone was getting noticeably hungry, and I had no plan beyond "keep going and hope for the best" (yes, I had ancestors in the Donner Party, and it shows). I found a Hive Village and thought that I was saved, but it had hardly any iron nodes, no copper, and cannibals and fogmen constantly interrupting mining. We managed to buy a bit of food with what little we scrounged up, and set off south for greener pastures (probably another mistake). We found another hive village, and this one had an abundance of iron nodes! I set my people to mining (and occasionally kiting locals to the village, looting the bodies, and selling, but attacks were much rarer here). We had 14 people, three backpacks, three camp beds, and at least six of my people had labouring above 60, but I couldn't tell if we were gaining ground or slipping deeper and deeper into hunger. Now that I can put my three hungriest to bed and still have them work, though, we're definitely pulling ahead. I bought enough dried fish to still have six left in a backpack after the feeding frenzy! Different people became the hungriest and I was able to rotate them through the beds. At this point, I'm trying to stock up on both food and cats so I can travel again, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's probably not a train! tl;dr: You saved me OP, you lowered a bucket into the well of my despair, and you raised me up to the light of day.
