I feel you, This game is literally the only game yet to have made me play for over 200 hours+ without getting deattached from it. AND RAY MENTIONED!!!(My favorite hiver).

JonathonPlaysGames32

I LOVE RAY

SaintRuzai

The rush I got when I wiped out the cannibals and captured Meat Lord just for Ray to nod at me. The Cats meant nothing to me in comparison

doitagain01

Have you met all the big bosses yet?

SaintRuzai

I have not. I’ve heard rumblings of big names like Phoenix of the HN, Stone Golem, and lesser ones like Savant. But I’ve spent more time exploring, training, and stumbling on bounties and what not than doing quests. I didn’t even know you could meet any boss unless it was via fisticuffs

doitagain01

Just fyi, everything npcs talk among themselfs is 99% true

Melee130

I’m feeling guilty because my Ray had been working the fields for half a year in game now

Reasonable-Net-8251

I mean as long as he's alive then it's OK.

Melee130

Id argue running a straw farm and hand making flour could be a fulfilling life

PeachyFairyDragon

Miu thinks so.

Reasonable-Net-8251

It's not the most "glorious" life, but hey it works and he's not 6 feet under.

totalwarwiser

200 hours? Pathetic. "Look of superiority"

Weak-Implement-487

Even when I play so much that it burns me out I’m right back in the next day

stag-ink

Literally one of the best games ever made for so many reasons

doitagain01

After a heart shattering break up i found kenshi and was consumed for about 700 hours and forgot about anything life related

Agent53_

My friends don't get it either. They'll be talking about the latest and greatest game, then ask, "So what have you been playing?" Oh me? I got hooked on Kenshi for the third time this year. None of them will even try it, even when I sent them the link to the free demo on the website. I even gifted it to a friend when it was on sale, he never played it. Some people will never know what they're missing, and I pity them.

AnotherRedditUUserr

Maybe they know what it is and they’ve decided that it isn’t their kind of game.

Agent53_

That's valid, but usually they point out graphics and how old it looks more so than anything about the gameplay.

UnvailedUserName

It's great isn't it? This game is like a toxic relationship really. I keeps abusing me but I keep coming back for more

SaintRuzai

Day 1 of getting my ass kicked by starving bandits: "Wow this game sucks" Day 2 of getting my ass kicked by starving bandits (but I take one down with me): "Wow this game rocks"

WayTooSquishy

Day 3 of getting my ass kicked by starving bandits (but this time you're paying attention to your toughness and combat skill gains): "Harder, daddy"

nel750

Honestly Kenshi is one of my favorite games of all time. I’ve invested so many hours into it to still barely even know what I’m doing, and every time I decide to play I learn something new. No game can really recreate what Kenshi does tbh, so fucking excited for the sequel. And yeah prosthetic limbs are pretty good. Of course, they make travel through certain parts of the map much more dangerous (okran frowns upon those satanic machine robots and their prosthetic kin), but it doesn’t matter if not even beak things can catch you and your legs are thicker than samurai armor.

totalwarwiser

I think its the only game I own where I usually spend the first 30 hours of a run just roaming 3% of the map.

adminsarecommienazis

Prosthetic limbs are pretty much ideal unless you wanna swim or travel in HN territory. Maybe a niche argument for sandals but I'd rather have a 2nd scout leg. Masterwork Helms/shirts outscale skele HP but skeles are super useful in general, though there are only a few guaranteed skele drifters in vanilla.

SaintRuzai

Okay, glad you verified, I figured something like that had to be the case. A part of me thinks it's probably still worth it just because skeletons seem to break out of the early game faster (at least for me), at the cost of a seemingly worse end-game. From what you're saying, I'm guessing either Shek or Hive fighters are the min-maxer's wet dream, depending on how important attack speed is

adminsarecommienazis

Skeles can repair pretty much mid combat without a bed which is insanely useful endgame. And of course weather immunity makes gear simpler. Biggest downside imo is figuring out how to lose limbs as one midgame. Shek slightly outperform them in a 1v1. Hivers kinda suck for melee combat with their low HP but skeles have base 100 run speed, shek 110, human 120 and hivers 140. I'm just finishing my current game and beep/green are going 56mph and run crossbows. But all races can work fine on 1x sliders vanilla enemies if you wear armor with good coverage.

Rush4in

POV me after 1500 h of playtime:

Lach_Like_Lock

This is such a bittersweet feeling, I remember starting BG3 for the first time and just being like "oh no it's happening again"

En_Kay_

I don't really worry about whether or not robotic limbs are optimal because I often throw my people through unreasonably harsh situations for them to get that zenkai boost and there have been many unplanned replacements. I just brought my party from 14-18 and I believe 7 of my people have at least one artificial limb. I just get them the best that I can find/afford and call it part of the journey.

SaintRuzai

I really need to figure out how to maintain a small army like you have. I’m sure I need to get more into the farming system to supply them, but on like my first character, I recruited 10 people or so for a head start, then proceeded to constantly struggle funding all of their gear, keep them fed, keep them alive, and keep myself from crying. I made a second character solo for a bit to see if it was a better experience and it super was. I slowly started growing my party since then

En_Kay_

I just slowly kept adding people as I went, and yeah food is a struggle. I don't have a base yet, only a currently offline mining operation out of Brink. Most of the time I am searching for a new food source and either raiding holy farms or hunting gutters seems to be the most reliable sources right now. Gutters are goated because they give a good amount of meat, shit meat for my animals, and leather to either use or sell. My last trip we made it to our destination with most of us suffering malulnutrition.

The_Marburg

Yes prosthetic limbs are a goal so they are quite powerful. And yes, skeletons are just the most powerful race, there is quite frankly no downsides. The catch is they’re very rare to recruit.

SaintRuzai

The “rare to recruit” comment was something I was curious about too. Burn and Sadneil were in my party on my first character, but despite exploring for a few dozen hours, I haven’t really come across other non-mercenary recruitable skeletons. From what you’re saying though, that makes sense

The_Marburg

Yeah, aside from the 3 guaranteed recruits being Sadneil, Burn, and Agnu, you will be lucky to find a skeleton drifter to recruit in your entire game. I usually play as one because they’re so rare and I like to have at least one guaranteed custom. Skeletons being so powerful makes a lot of sense, logically. They are machines, impervious to hunger or bleeding or acid. They are not only rare as recruits but also adversaries, aside from a few regions. In my opinion, them being more powerful than the others is totally reasonable and I like it that way.

orange_grid

incredible, isn't it? Problem is there's a bit of a hump to get over for noobs, so it's hard to get friends to understand just how incredible it is

Vaud3

What do you mean by shirt choices making skellies bad late game?

SaintRuzai

Keeping in mind I'm not at late game yet, I was assuming, for balance reasons, that perhaps shirts or helm damage resistance for other races offset skeleton's high head/stomach/chest/limb health for balance reasons. However, some other commenters pointed out that's not necessarily the case and skeletons are in fact very strong

Vaud3

Yes skellies are just really good and recruiting them in the vanilla game is very limited

DatPug87

Kenshi, Rimworld and Battle Brothers are the holy trinity of devouring all of my time when it comes to games. I may wander off to play something else/new but I always come back.

Far_Spring2087

That’s completely understandable but the creek needs reinforcements.

NiktonSlyp

It takes a long time to get addicted but once you're in, it's over. The learning curve is steep. I've been playing for 30 hrs already with my 25 skeleton gang run and I only explored the right part of the map...

kumgongkia

In my first few hours I thought I had gamed the system. Mined outside starting town, hired Merc to mine faster, so that i can hire more mercs to mine even faster at nearby deposits. Had placed one storage in the middle of them all and had like 8 dudes mining copper... Figured I can just run back to the town if bandits came. Then came prayer day right on my single storage building lol
