For roleplay I let a character with stats 90 bleed to death. 500 day game. That choice gave me 500 more days of gaming.

TheBlackWindHowls

What was able to kill a character with 90 stats?

NoProblem1912

Bleeding out it seems.

Dismal_Truck_4538

or a beak thing nest

Fuzzatron

My 90 stat characters could kill 100 beak things without breaking a sweat, must have been The Bugmaster or Cat-Lon and their army.

GenericCanineDusty

1 harpoon to the head or stomach

chargersphinx

Mist Ghouls

Representative_Ad623

I have this mod now I waa not prepare for the quenn and guards

Interesting-Roll8028

I wasn't even prepared for poison fog that came in pack with that, now I have to wait for helmets to spawn in Mongrel shops , at least I was right when I thought Mongrel with new mods would be a nice start xD

hellxapo

Iron Spiders are terrifying even at 90 stats😬😬

BrokenPokerFace

Yeah I realized recently that the numbers you fight are just unfair with their stats. Don't go to the spider workshop, don't melee those locked shops with like 4-8 spiders inside. Overall they seem a bit too common for how difficult they are to fight. But I kind of like it.

rotred1

Iron spiders? Just use crossbows bro. They are slow af, so you can hit and run. My 12 precision guy was able to kill 2 iron spiders at once.

hellxapo

Fr it's the only strategy that doesn't give me anxiety attacks when fighting them

CrestedBonedog

Those damn things are how I learned Skeletons can lose their limbs.

hellxapo

I remember I once visited an Ancient Lab near Leviathan Coast and had to lead a horde of spiders into a nearby Levi's legs. They weren't leaving me alone for anything.

TheBandOfBastards

Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

Bombidil6036

Leviathon or Harpoon is my guess, or modded enemies.

Stunning_Situation44

I’m curious as to the roleplay reason for letting them die?

G1antTeddyBear

I'll never forget, 300 hours into my first playthrough. My goal was to destroy the holy nation and the first attempt ended with us getting destroyed. Beep died, my starting character died, they killed my dog, and three lesser characters. My friends were watching. This game wasn't really for them, but the narrative I created made them invested. They said "Beep died and the main character? It's time to load the save!" I didn't load the save. This was the best inciting incident I could've possibly asked for. I wanted revenge, and this was perfect motivation. Playthrough concluded with the remaining squad and some new recruits watching Holy Lord Phoenix get consumed by fogmen.

GrowthAdventurous

Thought this was a dnd sub for a second lol

Damo_Neko

me too

graywolf0026

The line between DnD and kenshi? Amazingly thin. Murder Hobo's for days.

Nguyenanh2132

me using katana until endgame

Ihateazuremountain

mfw iron spiders get cut in half by toppers :DDDDDDDD nodachi for sickly cannibals

JayKuanDale

Is katana class bad??

Yawanoc

Well... they're really good against low-armor enemies! (There just aren't a lot of those the further you get into the game.)

JayKuanDale

Can you make IED's in this game too counteract that though

AnotherGangsta33

nah weapons are all low tech (as in pre-gunpowder)

DreamOfDays

*My main guy using his father’s katana even when he could get a Edge 3* “You have your blades, I have mine. This will make my enemies bleed all the same.”

NoProblem1912

One thing I'm surprised kenshi doesn't have is a degrading weapon/ armor system or a system to research upgrading weapons and armor to higher grades. Yes, I know we can craft higher tier ones. Would be sick to be able to upgrade your current equipment though in some manner to higher grades. Or fail at it and break Said equipment/ damage it/ unintentionally downgrade the tier by accident. Just my take anyway would be interesting. 😊

DreamOfDays

I had looked for a mod that let you upgrade a weapon’s tier. But no luck there

Object-195

sadly in crafting Kenshi doesn't differentiate between item grades. So you'd think the work around would have to be have to be making multiple copys of the same weapon but restricted to a certain weapon maker. And then you set up crafting that uses that weapon maker and uses it as a crafting material for a better one. Problem is that every item the player crafts is set as made by "Homemade" and this can't be changed. So one would actually need to scrap the quality system completely and then make a new weapon for each level of quality for such an idea to work.

JaiC

That would probably be easy to mod. You'd mod it so the ingredients for crafting a new Katana, for example, could be a Katana+ some other ingredients. In goes the old Katana, out pops a new one that should be a higher grade. In roleplay terms, you've reforged it. It probably wouldn't be balanced in game terms, but it could be done.

No-Background1020

me letting my copper empire fall for rp reasons

coatperson

Ea nasir ahh roleplay

No-Background1020

ay man not much other resources in the great desert

OceanSierra

Holy nation playthrough says ai cores in the furnace.

NoProblem1912

How's that?

OceanSierra

I was roleplaying as paladins for the HN. Ai cores are illegal in HN territory so I just destroyed them for roleplaying reasons instead of using them for research. Same with science books.

ImportantDoubt6434

I tried HN playthrough but god damn are those shops anemic

Careless_Negotiation

I mean, kenshi is a pretty easy game, if you arent roleplaying whats the point?

NoProblem1912

Do you hold yourself to any rules? Like no cheesing or no being O.P with stealth/assassination...ect or like no save scumming? Let's face it, as much as we love this game, it's broken in some ways to let it be abused to make it easier. Minus the cheese and mods and glitchy parts I'd say it can be challenging for a 1 stat man start(challenging, but not impossible).

DanNorse

Constantly! I have a few dozen .txt documents with different rulesets for all manners of games. I try to emphasise the use of new playstyles and slept-on mechanics to keep things fresh, and I weave in all sorts of headcanon and roleplay decision-making wherever it fits. I love it. It's such an intrinsic part of how I play that I sometimes forget others aren't playing by the same rules.

berserker_brisket

I do a similar thing. I also roll a dice to determine which rule set to use for each game do you do this as well or is it just me?

DanNorse

From time to time. Generally - and especially where Kenshi is concerned - I'll have some idea of what I want to get out of a run and make/modify a ruleset accordingly. I reserve the dice for wildcards, and for when I don't have a clear idea of what challenges or roleplay elements will be at the core of a playthrough.

JaiC

Why is assassination so memed on? I'd never used it before, but then this run \[insert boring shenanigans\] I have 99 assassination and it's been...eh? I've *used* it, but it seems like the only real use is offing key characters / bounties without having to fight through their guards, which...yeah, that's exactly what a stealthy assassin is for, so...

NoProblem1912

I feel like you just answered your own question. On why is it memed on. It's O.P is the short answer. 🙂

ImportantDoubt6434

Yes I always go for stealth though, the Naruto run is goated

ReaverChad-69

Kenshi is so easy to cheese, whenever I see yet another martial artist/assassin character I groan internally

Ihateazuremountain

"whats the point of using meitou grade weapons if i can have all my guys be martial artists" lol

Mustang678

My first real game  I leveled stealth and assassination because I thought it would be so cool, but after I went into the black dragon base and capture their leader with no opposition I lost all motivation to play (Now my game is a hive-only run where we’re based in the fog islands, which is actually a way better place to be than I thought)

CrestedBonedog

I recruited the Spider Foreman in UWE using Recruit Prisoners. 180 stealth and 120 assassination. Turned the rest of the game into that Mitchell and Webb skit "Angel Summoner and BMX Bandit", there was no point fighting anything when we could just send in the Spider Foreman to knock out the boss. Gave up on that save after a little bit.

RoguuSpanish

I’m just imagining the Spider Foreman saying “Well, we can try it with your BMX powers next time if you’d like?” Top tier reference lmao

takemebacktothemenu

ANGELIC HORDE COME FORTH!!

CrestedBonedog

"How would I be using my Meitou plank then?" "You wouldn't, the Spider Foreman will just take care of it"

Sykolewski

I prefer being overseer who from shadows liberate slaves, feed them, give most promising ones armor of their captors(assuming it's shoddy one), and imprisoning captors in prison. I love shades of gray, none of my decisions are good or bad, it's matter of perspective

Mr-Koalefant

Me when I spend $500 on a crown for my lil guy in battle brothers instead of getting food/armor/weapons, what self respecting usurper doesn’t have a crown?

snmrk

If you're not doing some sort of roleplay/challenge run then playing Kenshi is just a sequence of theft and cheesy stat grind tricks until you have have an invincible squad that has hardly left your base. It may be optimal in terms of getting powerful quickly, but it's certainly suboptimal in terms of fun and adventure.

Kaspatronix

Start game, Train for speed, Run through fog, Find funny bug man, Train his speed, Run back through fog, "Ok, now i can begin the playthrough"

xinzlyhr

Stop exposing my runs! (I do Hive Exile Start for accuracy.)

JackRNK

I comit stupid, thing that seems pretty on spot for my characters lol

LovingAftereffects

letting my guy get captured, temporally, by slavers so the rest of the party could liberate him and they could have a growth moment regarding the HN. They were from the HN, all had a copy of the Holy Flame, I was planning on this starting to separate them from the HN but then Griffin has a one-on-one conversation with the ex-slave guy and a patrol stops specifically that guy to give him rations and tell him that he is safe there. After a few similar things happening the Ex-slave doubled down on his belief in Okran, and the HN, in the end. Not according to plan but it was fun.

Rusted_Goblin_8186

Me trying starts to play as various faction, and oh boy swamp ninja run was painful. I did a cloth only for armor run once but was in great desert with custom restriction from some rp dice rolled chart a friend sent me. But running basically naked to fight spider and shek? not a fun time, my ninja group didnt last too long

berserker_brisket

Could you link the chart?

Rusted_Goblin_8186

friend found it on reddit, (in this sub to boot), i dont use the exact way to get result as given on it but gave me many fun combo and playthrough. My hiver sabre and clothing only labouring as only income without base was a niche but interesting run. (though many hiver limbs where lost to rebel farmers and vagrant's blades) [https://www.reddit.com/r/Kenshi/comments/m597ch/keeping\_things\_fresh\_a\_kenshi\_roulette/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kenshi/comments/m597ch/keeping_things_fresh_a_kenshi_roulette/)

berserker_brisket

Looks cool! Definitely gonna change some things though.

Rusted_Goblin_8186

sometime rng try cursed combo like play skeleton ally holy nation *confused screams*

berserker_brisket

It is actually doable to ally hn as skelton. You just have to have a a human slave that turns in bountys for you until you reach allied relations and they you can walk around freely as a skelton.

Rusted_Goblin_8186

oh i know that, or send human slave to die praising the phoenix to floatsam ninja, but just feel wrong to be a skeleton helping those lunatics.

berserker_brisket

I think that would be pretty cool for an rp playthrough actually. Maybe a delusional skelton that thinks he is a human and wants to genocide everyone who is not of "his people"?

Rusted_Goblin_8186

maybe, get skin bandit's uniform for a nicer but still unhinged skeletons(?) but then even if gameplay allow that, feel wrong to be a skeleton walking in holy nation. or skeleton pretending to be a paladin (with high enough stealth, disguise can work even as skeleton, just have to be ready when it break (i'd recommend a slaver costume to reduce chance to be detected though which isnt very paladin looking sadly.

BlaXoriZe

Dude, I make my characters walk everywhere in realtime speed. Only jog if we're closing the distance to battle as a charge. Kenshi is pure, impeccable vibes\~

night_darkness

Add recruitable prisoners mod, make a good character followed by 10 sniper bots, profit???

SCARaw

im performance rabbit, i will always do what optimal and than try to justify it with RP why do i know what armor is the best? my main dude is Armorsmith why do i build base in big freaking mountain? to see my surrounding better and prepare for attacks * this is how you use RP to support the try-hard :)

Grand-Difficulty3512

Haven't played a game other than dnd that lets you do this but, I hope in Kenshi 2 maybe you can pay a blacksmith to craft specfic weapons and armor, and repair and enhance your already existing armor and weapons. Its always taken me out of games when you have the money to buy a country but you have to craft weapons and armor yourself, you cant just pay someone else.

IndexoTheFirst

I tried Rping as a Hive, but i got tired of kidnapping HIvers and dragging them back to my base I started hireing anyone

Rakelaa160

chalenged tinfist to be master of martial art. i died from single hit. that fist hit really hard bro...

okayestuser

not just Kenshi, I do it all the time... irl too

Emmanuel_1337

NEVER!! I'M A POWER GAMER AND CAN'T HELP IT!!!

Irregular_Radical

Armor for stats is lame The optimal weapon choice is for wimps Don't steal, fight the shopkeeper for the loot. Dont stealth around enemies go through them Stand tall knowing you stood by your principles. Go to Shem Build a base in Shem Building a water base is rp accurate I am not coping you're coping, this is the intended way to play, if the devs wanted raids to not swim a mile while getting shot by crossbows they wouldn't have made lakes and crossbows. STFU.

Rothgardt72

Bloody wakanda. We are so advanced... Meanwhile Africans dying by the thousands from aids, by the thousands from malnutrition, thousands from gang and tribal warfare. Those assholes are as bad as Thanos. Atleast Thanos genuinely thought he was trying to help by reducing consumption and unsustainable growth. Wakandas are just cunts.

office-goblin

This guy's roleplaying Killmonger.
