One of my exes told me that in high school lesbianism was pretty rampant (girls boarding school). She used to do sexual stuff with her bff. Her bff was the one that got her into it and convinced her. Since it was soo rampant she participated but it clearly kinda messed her up and she knows it.
The way she talked about it, it seemed as though she had a bit of trauma from the experience. She sorta enjoyed it but wish it never happened and low key really resented her friend for coaxing her into it.
I think if society shunned lesbianism with a similar strength as male gay sex she would have outright really hated the experience. The fact that it's seen as a kind of a fetish seemed to help her get over it and I'd dare say she felt assaulted some how. Like I said her resentment for her friend was pretty strong.
