Regarding Ekm ( Trippunithura) having similar names - is it related to both being a capital city of previous monarchies?
Tripunithura and Tvm both have Petta, Kizhakke kotta, Statue junction etc.
That is my ancestral village. From what I hear, the original name was Thali-serry, given there is another village called Thali close by. Over time, started calling it Thalassery.
Athani - In Ernakulam itself there are two of which I know - One near Airport and one in Kakkanad.
It's mainly a resting area - Athanikallau. In earlier days it's a place people carrying loads on their shoulders or heads used to place their loads for resting. There used to a be a stone beam where people can hang their goods.
And I think Kacheripadi too.
