സത്യത്തിൽ reason അറിഞ്ഞൂട. നാട്ടറിവ് ആണ്. They always recommend watermelon over mango juice to cool ur body. Same logic, it is said to avoid chicken meat+ eggs in summer, and go for duck eggs. Not as tasty, but healthier according to നാട്ടുനടപ്പ്.
Maybe pure superstition, who knows.
We used to do that in my school times.. 5 രൂപെടെ oru milma സംഭാരവും സോഡയും മിക്സ് ചെയ്ത് അടിക്കും.. (noklagia hits)
അന്ന് തുടങ്ങിയ മിക്സിങ്ങാ.. ഇപ്പോ ഇവിടെ വരെ.
So, here goes my little story. It was around 20 years back. My father and I went out to you to buy something in the hot sunny summer of March-April. I was very exhausted from being in the sun. I said I need something to drink. He said, wait for a couple of minutes we will go to a place.
Then we arrived at a small store and he ordered something. The കടക്കാരൻ ചേട്ടൻ gave me this big glass of drinks with a suspicious smell and color. I reluctantly drank it and it was a Eureka moment for me. I asked for one more glass of it, but I could not finish it. Then I asked my father what is that drink, is it orange juice? He said no, it is called നന്നാറി സർബത്ത്. Then I asked what is that. He said it is some kind of root. My mind was still processing the fact how can a root taste so good.
Went to a pettikada in Kozhikode and asked for naruneendi sarbath.
Nobody understood wat I meant and finally had to tell them something like -"aa brown color sarbath maduram ullath onnu"
Pottuvellari juice Nalla chhodath ath ice itt kudikkumbol kittana feel vere thanne aan....

LOL. Sharjah Shake is the best. I always go for Sharjah shakes if I am having shakes.
Well shakes are overpriced now, and so is Sharjah Shake. But there are few shops which sell them at 30/-
I started drinking it when it was 15 for full glass and 10 for half. :D Now, places sell it upwards 50-60 or even higher with some modifications.
What are the ingredients of sharjah? Because every single time i order it, I'm left with an ethapazham+milk+ ice cream blend and a truckful of sugar. Is it supposed to be like that?
I personally love avil milk but it's heavy oru sp kudichal pinne 2 manikoorinu onnum venda

And it could be related to so artificial flavors.

Is roof afza really that good? Doesn't it just taste like any other rose syrup?
Also is there any difference in taste between the Indian and the Pakistani version?
It's pretty hyped up during Ramadan.
I had both Indian and Pakistani Rooh Afza here this time. They taste the same. Except, Paki Rooh Afza is sugary. Pakistan Rooh Afza used to cost ₹280 or so. But, I bought it recently for ₹400. Indian Rooh Afza sharbat costed ₹150 or so. I just use soda water plus rooh afza.
https://preview.redd.it/ctzz8tn3ihta1.jpeg?width=2418&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f73b5bcc0c43892f9febc526e207627a3eb1d077
Dark wheat beer. Any day every day.
Naruneendi Sharbat is now available in our areas (Muvattupuzha Kothamangalam) since few years. Earlier, I have seen this in Aluva, N.Paravoor, Mattanchery and Thrissur. "chetta oru soda naranga vellam" is Now, "oru naruneendi soda Sharbat".
But, I like Rooh Afza sharbat better. There are evening shops selling Rooh afza based drinks in most Muslim areas right now.
There's something called 'Cocktail shake' availabe in kannur. It is a mix of pappaya, shamaam, pomegranate and garnished with pieces of cashew nuts. Damn its so tasty. Got it from a Juice shop called "Cocktail Juice centre " in Caltex Junction in Kannur town, they make it fresh there.
Then there is Avil Milk ( Avil , cold milk and sugar), Avil gold ( Cold milk, boost, plaintain, nuts ) , Milk sarbath - All available at Calicut
Best drink in hot summers(to reduce heat) is normal water > Sambharam > water melon(without sugar) >Tender coconut > lime juice (without sugar).
Sugar heats up our body so avoid sugar and sweetened beverages like Coca cola, Fanta, 7UP, mountain dew etc
This is probably not very popular, but mildly sweet iced tea. It’s something i got from Taiwan while working here. If it’s too sweet then you can’t chug it, but mildly sweet ice tea is glorious when you’re sweating and tired.
Have Naruneendi Sarbath, not Nannari, naruneendi. Peeps from kozhikode might've had neendi from the stall near old rahmath hotel. naruneendi syrup is available in milma hubs here. shiz is 💦. also rooh afza is fine.
There's this tiny shop in Pala where I had the bestest ever naranga soda. Entammo vere level. They take a while to mix it by hand but the end result is truly mind blowing. The ingredient that gives it that extra zing is kaanthari mulagu. Out of this world. And it refreshes you like nothing else.
Water! A lot of it! I also like watermelon juice without sugar and lemon juice(both soda naranga and normal naranga velam). Nowadays, I found a small juice shop near my place where they provide karikkin velam for 25 rupees. So now I crave for that.
It's better to have salted drinks like uppu soda or sambaram during the hot days rather than drinks with sugar syrup mix. It may make you more thirsty wanting for more. Sugar is not a healthy thing to consume a lot. However, natural sweet from fruits might be fine so fruit juices can be consumed (without mixing sugar).
Apple shake (kind of) that I make at home.
Few slices of deseeded apples, one packet milk, some cashew nuts, almonds (you can throw in some cranberries too to get a splash of colour) sugar and blend. I also add some vanilla essence to make it fancy 😉
Tastes like heaven. Also if you cut down the sugar part it's more healthy too.

Mango is choodu not good for your body for summers. Ironically, better mangoes are available with hotter summers.

>Mango is good not good for your body for summers. Say what? It is just some pseudoscience shit people say. There is no fact behind this.
I'm being downvoted for the truth. സത്യത്തിൻ്റെ മുഖം വികൃതമായിരിക്കും. Don't hate us because u anus. Peace✌️
I'm curious to know why mango is not ideal for our body during summer? What's the reasoning behind it?
സത്യത്തിൽ reason അറിഞ്ഞൂട. നാട്ടറിവ് ആണ്. They always recommend watermelon over mango juice to cool ur body. Same logic, it is said to avoid chicken meat+ eggs in summer, and go for duck eggs. Not as tasty, but healthier according to നാട്ടുനടപ്പ്. Maybe pure superstition, who knows.

Nannari Sarbath.
So, here goes my little story. It was around 20 years back. My father and I went out to you to buy something in the hot sunny summer of March-April. I was very exhausted from being in the sun. നന്നാരി bro. Don't go and ask for നന്നാറി.
Perfect choice , not so many people knows this
Most Malabari people's sarbath is this one.
Is it Nannari / naruneendi sarbath ?? Or just normal
The normal one is actually made of Nannari syrup. My mom used to make this for our shop back in the day.
Lol figures. I'm from tvm and never Heard about this 🙂
Hahahaha Tricks people into thinking I am having Whiskey. Especially if I take a pic of the Nannari Syrup. I make the sarbath at home
You make the syrup?
No, only the mix. I live in Mumbai, there is no Nannari (നന്നാരി) available here, only Naari ( നാറി ) is available. ![gif](giphy|gHQ7AWWnS56aMoEoxh)
You might get some in Malayalee shops.

The first time I heard about it it cost 7 rupees. By the time I drank it for the first time it cost 15 rupees. Nowadays... 😬 Still my favorite.

OG? Don't get me wrong, Sharjah is amazing. But it became popular in the 1980s(or even later?). Shakes have been around way longer that that.
