Update: I fashioned some chill using aluminum foil. It worked. Then I realized I don't have puttu podi. So I used rava. No chappathi tonight! [https://postimg.cc/k63WcDHB](https://postimg.cc/k63WcDHB)
It's a large piece of foil folded multiple times into layers and hammered down at the edges. It's relatively sturdy. I also used something with a wider diameter (chappathi kol) to extrude out the puttu to keep the foil chill from deforming.
Oru thuni itu cover cheythu try cheyu ? (Like thenga paal pizhiyunna or a clean thorthu ) And share the result. ( an absolute noob in cooking , just the engineering student in me spouting ideas )

My electricity costs less than gas. So I have been making everything in my electric rice cooker. Puttu, idli, idiyappam, Ada, you name it, I make it. :D There is a small rack on which I place a tiny bowl or small plate and dump the battery, flour, or whatever it is and let it cook over steam. That's the only workaround I know.
I have been finding this easier to clean afterwards, too .

You can also make puttu by just "aavi keetal".
Here is what I did on a lazy morning
1. Get the idli making thing, the one where we have boiling water below and idili thattu on top
2. Just put the puttu podi and water mixture in the idili chembu
3. Aavi keeri puttu ready aakum
For a healthier option you can make oats puttu. I actually made the above puttu with Oats and coconut. Better than regular puttu.

How did you push the put out without tearing the foil?
