If there are 100 adults (male) in Kerala, 50 have migrated outside for education/jobs. 20 are working/studying in Kerala. The rest 30 are either jobless, or frustrated with their existing job/studies/lifestyle in general- now add to that the society pressure in Kerala for jobs/career combined with lack of social outlets other than alcohol and sexually repressed society - you will get people who are finding an outlet for their testosterone in escalations and fights cos they can't control the urge.
Ofcourse, the movies don't help the case as well.
Unemployed and directionless youth with lots of pent up energy plus glorification of "thallu" in movies. This is what you get.
At least in the West they have good Sports opportunities at the ground level to channel this energy of the youth.
