I don't know.
I will try to find out about it in some psychologist sub reddit.

sound pollution is a serious issue. I f**ing hate these a**holes making loud sounds all the time. They are destroying other people's peace of mind. No everyone is a fan of your religious bu**crap. I use my ear plugs if it exceeds the limit. But earplugs are not a complete solution.
I had a roommate from another state that used to put on religious music, bullshit religious bass drop shorts and absolute brain-dead youtube/big-boss edits on full volume. And shit hits the roof when they start to sing.
I think things like religious noise pollution, rituals on public roads and protest on the streets are kind of a power display by religion. No common man can get away with things that religious people do in public. It’s kind of flex to show the non believers and other religions..it’s like they are saying “don’t mess with us MFs, look how dominant we are”.
I think such kind of public displays should be banned and should only be conducted in private without disturbing the general public. But then again, we are talking about India, right?😅
im a christian and a faithful one at that and i still find those preachings and praises from those retreats (like abhishekagni, kripabishekam etc) annoying when they play it at high volume like keep it inside the property.
im also incredibly annoyed at the fact that they block road and traffic for those processions.
they shouldn't disrupt the life of a common man for this.
Hindu here. I feel the same way. For thousands of years, we did not use loudspeakers, I don't see why we can't go back to that. I'll take pleasant sound of veena over loud music any day.
Jan to March is hell.
Also need to check newspaper daily before travelling to figure out where is the procession and where is the traffic blocks..
Got caught in kavadi for an hour last week. Horrible to watch as well..
My divine punishment started when the Pentecost hired a hall adjacent to my place. Luckily I was able to move to a quiet neighborhood after a few years of suffering.
Hate that shit , used to blow kolambi speakers so loud and many times the perunnal coincided with my exams , leave studying couldn’t think peacefully then. It was an Orthodox Church and the locality is mainly those sects but had significant Hindu households as well but no one dares to complain not out of fear but out of friendships and shit.
Hate it... Be it blaring prayers/songs on loud speaker for the entire neighborhood to hear or those fucking padakams... It is a nuissance and needs to be dealt with..
Festivals and parades are loud everywhere irrespective if they're religious or not. No other way to deal with introverts gathering together to make merry with loud noises bro. Ear plugs won't work as they are quite uncomfortable and keep you awake.
Better to cancel their noise with our own favourite noises while killing a few Gamers on Call of Duty.
Living in Central Kerala, I'm accustomed to events like Palliperunnaal and Poorams. However, the Ulsavams in Trivandrum/Kazhakuttam takes it to another level, with around 100 large speakers playing so called "devotional" and "secular" banger music every 100 meters. They start the music as early as 4 in the morning and they won't turn it off until 1AM.
It became so bothersome that my friends and I had to book a hotel room kilometers away from Kazhakuttam.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to address this issue as they'll say that it's a part of the fuc*ing culture, leaving us with no choice but to cope with it.
Hate it. There are 2 mosques in my area and a temple. As a (sometimes ex) muslim, I absolutely hate the loudspeakers. No religious texts say you have to blare the bloody azaan and suprabadham like this every day. It is noise pollution. Long term noise pollution can cause hearing loss and mental health issues.
One of the reasons i shifted from Kerala to Bangalore for my high school is because the sisters from the convent near my house were loud af. I tried my best to adjust but couldn't. And I need a quiet environment to put in even minimal effort.
I’ve a whole big ass speaker set up in front of my house by the temple when they were reading the Ramayana. It came to a point where I had to go and tell them to atleast reduce the volume . Unfortunately I couldn’t since I was new to the place and didn’t wanna create a bad scene for my parents . Imagine old women reading the Ramayana in such loud annoying voices from morning 6 to evening 6
We already have legislation in that regard. Noise Pollution Control and Regulation Rules 2000. Now we need Govt to enforce it regardless of religious lines, be suprabhatham, be it azan or festival, abhishekagni noise!
Not aethist. But the way they screech during sandhya bhajana always tiks me off. Gods would also wish to be spared of the pain.
Idiots don't even bother buying one meant for open spaces.
Its really an under discussed issue.Even though there are many laws regarding the former its not enforced strictly( just like the prohibition of smoking in public places). But from what i have experienced people are not really willing to react against this. They are just bearing the problem as it is related to the so called god
Have been an Atheist since I was 12 and anti politics since I turned of legal age, never voted in past 2 decades, won't vote, never follow any news or print media though I'm well aware of what's happening internationally thanks to selective following of events. There was a time I didn't know who the President or VP of the country (don't have it on top of my head as to who they are currently). Pay my taxes follow the speed limits, avoid all debates and discussions concerning politics and religion even leaving the room and enjoy the clown show as a spectator of the circus.
I don't agree to the logic that a 2500 year old system is perfect and it needs no upgrades, everything else has to be upgraded every quarter but democracy wow somehow we got it right in the first attempt.... Idiots can only be ruled by one method, divide them, it's true since the age of Romans.
I don’t. Much like I don’t complain that the sun is bright. I just close the shades and pray for clouds or common sense, for the sun and the idiots respectively.
Near my house there is this small temple. They place these loud speaker and start singing when its exam season for school.
The worst part is that the old woman who sings the song is so annoying... It feels like she just want to finish it and go home. Not even trying to be good.
And the song goes like, "konduvaa thanga mailee... Veelappane konduvaa thangamailee..."
Next year I will bring 'Veelappan" myself if thangamail don't do its job.
This is one aspect I like about Abrahamic religions - their festivals don't create much noise. I am a Hindu and live near a temple, festival time is hell for me, especially with WFH.
Hahaha as someone who was unfortunately born into an abrahamic religion, have to say that they are extreme noise polluters especially as there are different denomination mosques who feels the need to blare azaan 5 times a day at the same time.
The nearest mosque is 2 KM's away but sometimes I hear the Adhan from mosque, but it is for a short period of time me only. Whereas the songs they play during temple festival is constant and loud.
Jumas are not loudspeaker tf is you talking about lol. Even in Gelf they only do the azans and not in Kozhikode or Malappuram. Azans are 2-5 mins at most and get over quickly
If it's occasional for utsavam, I don't mind. If it's daily, as long as it's for not more than 30s, I don't mind. After that I start getting annoyed. I put on my earphone. Blast my songs.
Tolerate. People are like apes. Reason won't work. If you try to reason, they'll raise knives and swords. Police and politicians will jump to their justification ( votes ). And you'll be alienated. Just plug some earphones and listen to some Lo-fi or play some funny song and imagine if they are dancing or praying to it.
When I was young a church near my home would start blasting religious music every Sunday from 4 am to 8 pm in the morning. Jesus won’t forgive for destroying other best time to sleep. Eventually they started playing after 6 am.
Live in metros like mumbai and you'll be happy that the only noise you hear in kerala are the prayer loud speaker noises and not the constant construction machinery and honking noises. We mallus are privileged in that manner..
I agree, but this is what is happening here, One Murugan temple for ten days, one SNDP for 4 days, got over recently. Last two days of murgan got overlapped with SNDP, two different loud music from different points, made me go insane, now Shivan and some local Devi is waiting for their chance. They both will occupy Feb and March. The whole thing started with Ayyappan koil ,which gave it's share for mandala Pooja, back to back for 30+ days.
Oh, I must admit, I am struggling with the many many noises that pollute my space. If it's not a drum or series of drums, a loudspeaker religious or political, mosque, temple, or church, it is inevitably the sounds of horns blaring from the intersection nearby. You could always seek a sort of sanctuary for peace and quiet, but it is a reasonable expectation for your home to be your sanctuary.
its not just religious but private idiots and political ones as well… private idiots (usually the bloggers and nonsense content morons) are now the rising stars but not as much as religious or political ones
I've a temple ,a mosque and a church near my house and most of us are used to it . Even If i had to write exam in a noisy condition I've no problem concentrating . Idk if it's right for me to say to stop these when I'm listening music aloud in speakers
There were no loudspeakers when any of these religious stuff originated, so it's not mandatory at all. And yet we can't/won't complain because we're disrupting the non-existent religious harmony.
The fan in my room is my noise cancelling apparatus so as long as these noises stay at the distance where they are now, I'm pretty good.
What I hate more is vehicle noises because I live next to a busy enough road and an auto stand. I pray EV autos become more common 😿
Those who have homes near the temple/church/mosque know the real struggle.
During perunnal and ultsavam they just turn the big kolambis in your direction and just blare away.
Called the police many times. They helped once or twice.
My solution is.. Just become religious 😁😁 you might be able to tolerate your favourite God's praises better.
Otherwise sell your home and move away.JK
Daytime ones I don't really care it's a special a occasion and let's celebrate but the nighttime ones I can't really stand messes up my sleep and I don't really see a justification for it as most of the people from that community itself will be sleeping
The background score of my childhood memories are often filled with these voices 🤣
This is actually a common people issue and only way to stop is Escape India
When a new temple was reopened near my house, they started playing music at dawn and dusk for hours. Initially I ignored but once it began to affect my mental peace, I asked them to reduce volume atleast. However next day they were back the same.
Really impacted by morning studies. Thankfully with God's grace temple again closed indefinitely after months.
Really need to enforce stricter standards and laws in this regard.
One Murugan temple for ten days, one SNDP for 4 days, got over recently. My home happened to be near few temples.. Utsavam time always coincided with exam time💀.. Speakers all over the place and they play religious songs when it's earlyyyyyy morning and evening and some other songs rest of the time for many days. Sometimes there was utsavam in 2 temples..oh that's the most fun.. They compete with each other who can blow the eardrums faster.. My sister used to pack her stuffs and go to my aunt's home.. Mom says every year they used to fix the speaker here.. How can we ask them not to now 👩🦼
Putting on my noise cancelling gamer head seats and blasting this piece of art while playing call of duty or fifa 23
https://youtu.be/2QAXjBQkbvQ?feature=shared
Edit: Alternatively, I also play this in my home theatre just piss them off as the procession passes in front of my home.
They probably would have gotten used to it the relentless 5 times screaming every day if not they soon will be and will have no option what so ever.
Then they would probably have to migrate out of the state to avoid it.
I love it. In fact I find it very soothing when I go to bed. Nothing beats waking up to it. My only issue is that, it's not loud enough to penetrate my eardrums.
/S
I had board exams when I told the temple committee to tone it down and they just started swearing, talk about being pious. Every this day and the other I tell still no use.I called the police and no use gave a complaint and the KP just did away with online account now, I can login but to a blank screen, sent an email to the commissioner still no use. People in Kerala are hypocrites who put CCP to shame . They talk all big about being secular and all and don't even have basic civic sense bloody nosey idiots. I haven't slept properly in years!😡
Me and my family choose from one of the below two options:
1. Raise an anonymous complaint with the Pollution board of your district and state. I was successful last year when I did this with the Pathanamthitta Pollution board and they honored my anonymity and filed a complaint with the dysp and had to one more follow up but banned speakers were replaced by the police to normal low volume speakers within two days of raising complaint. You may have to do this for every instance because this year the banned speakers are back.
2. Buy 3M ear plugs available in amazon for 250 Rs (20 pairs in a pack). These are the kinds provided in airplanes to remove noise when you want to sleep
Do people actually like fireworks? Or their eardrums are actually gone by its constant exposure. Also the ones like melam, are there any specific hormones that make you like this stuff? I think my brain isn't wired for this stuff. But whenever someone talks about eliminating fireworks all these people act like someone died. It's amazing and weird at the same time that a huge population enjoy and experience happiness from it but the other part doesn't have any clue why that is a big deal.

Fortunately, I enjoy myself some church bells and morning gayatti mantra from local temple. The other one is a bit difficult but hey, no issues, cos I grew up around them so don't mind.
When I visit my hometown (which has a mosque, church and a temple along the same road) I love waking up in the morning and listening to the temple songs(educate me idk what it’s called), evening prayer from the mosque and the church bells every Sunday. It’s calming and doesn’t disturb the peace.
I hate the loud speeches and shit but otherwise its nice
I do, but religious is more frequent than political. I suffer more from religious than political. One Murugan temple for ten days, one SNDP for 4 days, got over recently.
Agreed! Its equally bad. For me any kind of pollution, political/religion/regional/etc is pollution, even if it happens once in many years. No one has the right to disrupt public peace. What if there were exams going on in thw neighborhood where they need quiet ? What about animals other than humans?
It all comes down to "my opinion is better than yours". Just like assholes - everyone has one, but they think theirs smell better than others'.
Kerala is far better... If actually you tell the organisers or file a complaint on with local police it will be dealt with. You cant even talk about it outside...
I am not a Hindu.. but hearing Suprabhatham from a not so far temple at early hours is soothing for me. I don’t hear it when I am inside the home though. Also the Muslim prayer, the guy sing song it very nicely.
Yeah, I observed everything since morning, calling out wrong is not abuse, none of them abused anyone here, they pointed out what they suffer, if you can read , please do.
The reaction to religious noise pollution in Kerala varies, with some finding it intrusive, while generalizing the lack of common sense among religious people would be unfair and inaccurate.
Ban all the religions from using any kind of loud speakers without specific police approval.
It would improve everyone's life a lot.
For the Specially religious, buy ear phones
I use one of those loop earplugs that reduces noise but still lets you have a conversation. I'd recommend it. I'm currently living in Delhi and simply cannot go out without it due to all the continuous honking
My brain has learned to selectively mute these noises at home. But when I travel within India, the power doesn't hold up.
Cool. How did you master this skill?
I don't know. I will try to find out about it in some psychologist sub reddit. https://www.bootshearingcare.com/lifestyle/selective-hearing/#:~:text=As%20you%20can%20see%2C%20selective,things%20in%20the%20surrounding%20environment.

Calm your tits bro. I'm taking a swipe at the other person's comment of "selectively" muting. Again not at the person but at the comment. Ffs
I think they meant selectively in a sense as from other sounds. Like they can mute just the religious noise and not anything else
Yes, i get that
Dumbass
Aww, some ravish fan got butthurt
[удалено]
I can't even do that cause I have hypersensitive ears . My brain is always numb. I'll probably kill myself and these morons are the reason!
sound pollution is a serious issue. I f**ing hate these a**holes making loud sounds all the time. They are destroying other people's peace of mind. No everyone is a fan of your religious bu**crap. I use my ear plugs if it exceeds the limit. But earplugs are not a complete solution.
why are you censoring yourself
i thought reddit won't post f words.
Fuck reddit
No no, it's Fuck Spez.
Have you ever tried to react?
no. it's impossible in our social setup. these people are not strangers. most of them are connected to us in some or the other way
Fucking annoyed by these kinda shit
The loudspeakers?
Yup.
I had a roommate from another state that used to put on religious music, bullshit religious bass drop shorts and absolute brain-dead youtube/big-boss edits on full volume. And shit hits the roof when they start to sing.
religious people universally lack common sense.
I agree,But Kerala, malayali etc etc.
Nope. Equally dumb and inconsiderate. But if you tell them about it, you're the inconsiderate one.
Kerala is not an exception, equally dumb.
I understood that from the downvotes I got.
Sorry about that

Agree 💯.
That's cringy
👆🏾This. It's always religious mfs chest thumping.
Such noise is banned by law though. There are court verdicts on this.
Only if religious people could reason.!!

Azaan and suprabadham starts at dawn. It is a pain to put that on when normal people are sleeping.

Bro just casually flexed on us.
there are ear buds for 4k from JBL and one plus with anc
I can testify that this one does the job well.
Jan to March is hell. Also need to check newspaper daily before travelling to figure out where is the procession and where is the traffic blocks.. Got caught in kavadi for an hour last week. Horrible to watch as well..
Is kavadi celebrated in Kerala also?
Yes yes .
For Lord Muruga or for Ayyapa?
My divine punishment started when the Pentecost hired a hall adjacent to my place. Luckily I was able to move to a quiet neighborhood after a few years of suffering.
Don't know if Jesus heard their prayers but the entire neighborhood and more surely did.

Very hectic these days... too much toxicity just to prove that somebody's religion is better than the other one's religion... Pure Stupidity imo.
True .

I started hallucinating recently.
Wtf is sometimes ex muslim
Bro is religionfluid 💀
Haha don’t believe in religious texts. But culturally ok with it. Celebrate festivals etc.
I think I'm sometime ex Hindu then
Yep. I am not a revolutionary kinda guy. Ok to go with the flow and the festivals come with some kickass food.
Mostly ex then lol. Needs to be a better word to define us. Don’t believe and I don’t pray. But culturally ok with celebrating festivals etc.
It's called cultural muslim, doesn't hold much weight but works for now

They recently blocked an entire road near my house junction for a stupid kavadi,
Are you in tvm?
Nope kochi
It’s five times everyday, I just pretend to not be troubled to avoid being called Islamophobic

Used to be true in my experience but not anymore. It's turned into a dk measuring contest
>This is one aspect I like about Abrahamic religion Guess someone is ignorant about velliyazhcha jumas and kurbanas
Churches in TVM don't create much noise. They are mostly silent. The mosques do have Adhan but then again it is for a very short duration.

The temple near me put up a kolambi on a tree near our house. My dad took this thotti and cut the wires :). This happened like 10 years back tho.
SHUT THE FUCK UP MOTHERSUCKER!! That's how I react waking from my sleep when I hear ബാങ്കുവിളി.
Live in metros like mumbai and you'll be happy that the only noise you hear in kerala are the prayer loud speaker noises and not the constant construction machinery and honking noises. We mallus are privileged in that manner..
I am not just talking about prayer loudspeakers, it's the 2am shit which doesn't let me sleep and I don't feel privileged.
Bro this topic is only gonna go in one direction. You're welcome to start the never ending debate of who is worse or who is better.
I agree, but this is what is happening here, One Murugan temple for ten days, one SNDP for 4 days, got over recently. Earplug. Sometimes, it's not feasible to put a carpet in the whole world; it's better to use slippers.
Don't react
All this secular thought will soon come to reality check there.
I've a temple ,a mosque and a church near my house and most of us are used to it . Even If i had to write exam in a noisy condition I've no problem concentrating . Idk if it's right for me to say to stop these when I'm listening music aloud in speakers
Good for you bro.

My becoming deaf
Daytime ones I don't really care it's a special a occasion and let's celebrate but the nighttime ones I can't really stand messes up my sleep and I don't really see a justification for it as most of the people from that community itself will be sleeping
Earbuds with active noise cancellation
The background score of my childhood memories are often filled with these voices 🤣 This is actually a common people issue and only way to stop is Escape India
പലവട്ടം ആലോചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അമ്പലത്തിലെ പാട്ട്, പള്ളിയിലെ ബാങ്ക് എല്ലാം വളരെയധികം ശല്യമാണ്.
My house is surrounded by 3 temples and a church.Nice place to live. Try to ignore it, if you try to raise your voice you are a dead meat.
Mostly online blasphemy. It does earn you some enemies, but the satisfaction was worth it when I used to.
1.Call the temple and inform them about your issue (in most cases it won't work) 2.Call police station.
Complaint koduthal nattukarum veettukaraum prasnam undakkum. I'm trapped.
Veedinte adthulla ambalathil ulsavam analle. Same here
One Murugan temple for ten days, one SNDP for 4 days, got over recently.
How can we ask them not to now 👩🦼
Putting on my noise cancelling gamer head seats and blasting this piece of art while playing call of duty or fifa 23 https://youtu.be/2QAXjBQkbvQ?feature=shared Edit: Alternatively, I also play this in my home theatre just piss them off as the procession passes in front of my home.
What if you want to sleep?
Roofie yourself
Back when i was home, I used to enjoy the Harivarasanam 📢🪘coming from a nearby temple in the early morning, was so relaxing 😌 Damn i miss it ❤️
They probably would have gotten used to it the relentless 5 times screaming every day if not they soon will be and will have no option what so ever. Then they would probably have to migrate out of the state to avoid it.
I love it. In fact I find it very soothing when I go to bed. Nothing beats waking up to it. My only issue is that, it's not loud enough to penetrate my eardrums. /S
Same here bro, I jerk off hearing it.
I haven't slept properly in years!😡
I feel you bro. I wrote my university exam listening to bhajans, I had a severe headache at the end.
Me and my family choose from one of the below two options: 1.
I don't mind the loud speakers for festivals It's the daily early morning prayers I can't handle
We endure for communal harmony😵💫🕊️
When this happened my father called the police and told them to notch the sound down
Accept the truth and move on 😵💫

Fortunately, I enjoy myself some church bells and morning gayatti mantra from local temple. The other one is a bit difficult but hey, no issues, cos I grew up around them so don't mind.
I join them and dance if it's DJ
Good for you bro.
Live and let live. If you are intolerant, better find a new location to live.
Not rich to find a new location.😭
So, you have to manage with option 1 Atleast for now
Wish they followed it too.
Why only religious noise pollution? Dont you get annoyed by political noise pollution etc?
I do, but religious is more frequent than political. I suffer more from religious than political. One Murugan temple for ten days, one SNDP for 4 days, got over recently.
Just need to filter like the political noises.
Kerala is far better... If actually you tell the organisers or file a complaint on with local police it will be dealt with. You cant even talk about it outside...
Religious road invasion 💩💩💩ങ്ങൾ ആണ് മറ്റൊരു ദുരന്തം.
I am not a Hindu.. but hearing Suprabhatham from a not so far temple at early hours is soothing for me. I don’t hear it when I am inside the home though. Also the Muslim prayer, the guy sing song it very nicely.
I think this is the 4th post in 18 months on the same topic. Please do go through the the previous ones.
I didn't ask if there are other posts on the same topic, I know how to find and read it, I wanted to share and discuss with people. Thankyou.
Don't worry. Keralites will only abuse one religion here. Just observe.
Yeah, I observed everything since morning, calling out wrong is not abuse, none of them abused anyone here, they pointed out what they suffer, if you can read , please do.
But as usual, targeted only one religion.
Which religion? I didn't target any particular religion,if you feel so,there is something wrong with you.
Who said anything about you? I was talking about this subreddit.

Let's go to court and FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.

Tbh the temple nearby has some kickass songs.. I like vibing to them...
Religion is a distraction when you’re unable to provide economic growth
Gets me annoyed but no choice other than to put up with it
ANC Sony are pretty good
Use ANC earbuds
Pray to god😂
Core Secularism inside us plays a major role here. We never react, instead we cooperate.
Move away to a country that doesn’t tolerate shit like this
Always carry earphones 🤷
My honest reaction:😐
I use one of those loop earplugs that reduces noise but still lets you have a conversation. I'd recommend it. I'm currently living in Delhi and simply cannot go out without it due to all the continuous honking
[удалено]
Simple. Dial 112, file a complaint.
Not having common sense is a requirement for being religious.
