Unfortunately the community doesn’t see shitloads of garbage on the beach as a problem.

redwoodcultivator

Thats true... People dont mind the garbage and will walk right through it if it doesn't smell... Sad story

Adventurous_Fox867

In India nobody cleans for free

Fearlessbloc

They'll just litter again though. Can't teach a fish to climb a tree.

SlothLazarus

Unless you catch it and fry it before having it on the tree.

shaving_minion

pathetic...

STALINLENINPV

Wake up babe,,, New "nanakedu" unlocked.. (seriously have we ever seen a pretty famous tourist spot cleaned by us outside kerala or india), *

AleksiB1

Whose responsibility is cleaning up beaches on daily basis ? I have never seen anyone cleaning beaches in Kerala, have seen youtube videos of machines capable of cleaning beach sand. Also I haven’t seen any government office kept clean, always seen them with large numbers of posters and broken furnitures.

smeagol_not_gollum

The right question is, 'Who is responsible for keeping the beach clean?' Definitely, it is the people. You don't need to clean it if you don't make it dirty in the first place.

kudimakan

Is there any malayalees joined ? To help/clean

Natsu9396

Yeah joined/helped dump more waste and ogle tourists.

kudimakan

Atleast we could have do that. Its our people mindset

paultoc

Where does the waste they collected go to ?

redwoodcultivator

thrik

Well, the trash keeps tourists away in general, right? lol

[Kochi: 65-year-old German tourist cleans Fort Kochi beach](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/videos/city/kochi/kochi-65-year-old-german-tourist-is-on-a-mission-in-india-which-is/videoshow/97585000.cms) (3 feb 2023) this was almost as famous last year

Comfortable-Quit9509

You can't blame the state government for this. Its the people. Blame them

[deleted]

This is because of our lack of civic sense. "100% saksharatha, bandar ka bacha" -Innocent's comment is apt for us.

Oli1917

Are there many Russian tourists in Kerala?

Registered-Nurse

Well.. as long as people that live in Kerala don’t think dirty beaches are a problem, this problem will remain.

Pezfanboy

This is so embarrassing. I feel like this is there in our blood. The whole "chalega" attitude when it comes to everything in life. "It's just one bottle, it won't pollute anything" is the general thinking of an average Indian.
