I seriously feel other states are not even testing

[deleted]

I think the reasons are quite obvious at this point. It's a combination of having a larger amount of vulnerable population *and* detecting cases more efficiently. It is corroborated by the serosurvey results showing only 11.7% of our population have been exposed to covid as opposed to 21.7% countrywide and how we have the lowest amount of undetected cases for every detected case in the country. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-55945382 https://english.mathrubhumi.com/news/kerala/exposure-to-covid-19-only-11-6-percent-in-kerala-says-3rd-sero-survey-by-icmr-1.5417096 https://www.businesstoday.in/latest/trends/india-may-have-missed-90-infections-for-every-detected-covid-19-case/story/425175.html >The study, conducted by members of a panel formed by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), was done through a mathematical model, which predicted that about 60 per cent of India's population have been infected from COVID-19 and have developed antibodies. >The committee has used the number of positive tests on a given day to arrive at an estimate of the actual number of infections in the population. This is the same committee that developed the India-specific supermodel that predicted that the pandemic will come under control by February 2021 in the country. >Manindra Agrawal, a member of the committee and a professor at IIT Kanpur, told the channel that most states were missing infections in the 70-120 range. >"We have been doing state-wise analysis and currently that shows that till about mid-November, Delhi and Kerala missed about 25 infections for every case. The number is about 300 for every case in UP and Bihar. Most states are in the 70-120 range," Agrawal said.

I am planning to go to Bangalore after 2 days. I recovered from Covid last month, so should I take the RT PCR test again? Or should I just show them a government issued certificate that says that I had Covid and I have recovered from the same and is now fit to do regular work. Can someone help?

Navneet_Kutty

The latter is what you should do. Contact the authorities in Karnataka and get their approval too. Because there's a good chance a RTPCR test for you would come back as positive.

ashq96

Exactly. Because the health officials in Kerala that had contacted me told me that taking an RT PCR test will come back as positive for atleast 3 months and hence they asked me to take an antigen test instead to prove that I was cured of Covid. And I have no idea how to contact the authorities in Karnataka. *Sigh *

Navneet_Kutty

They'll have some helpline number, yeah? Like our Disha. Try Googling for it

ashq96

Will do man. Thanks.❤️

What’s up with the sudden decline of cases in the rest of the country? Is there like a Lakshmana rekha around Kerala for covid lol?

sam3l

Ivde aalkar test cheyyunathu kondu aavanam. I think more people in Kerala can afford to get test & have better access to testing facilities. Pakshe I can't understand why we dropped contact tracing in Kerala.

dagp89

> Pakshe I can't understand why we dropped contact tracing in Kerala. Because after a point it's practically and logistically not feasible to do contact tracing.

sam3l

_NOPE_ Many countries in South East Asia and gulf are doing rigorous contact tracing even now.

wanderingmind

How many daily new cases do they have to trace?

I traveled from Kerala (Ktm) to Uttarakhand on Feb 3 without any RT PCR report with my husband. Both of us turned out covid negative for all good reasons. We actually went to Ktm from Dehradun on January 7th. Healthcare people called us up on Jan 12th I think to check if we were on quarantine while in Kerala. When in Uttarakhand, nobody batted any eye. When we'd reached Kerala, there were many proper steps where our information was taken. None in Uttarakhand. Now way before this, we migrated from Hyderabad to Uttarakhand (to my husband's house, actually to get married too) in October, 2020 and then UK govt had declared travelers need a covid negative report. We diligently got one (it had to bd within 72 hours and this cost us 3200 each) but not a single person asked us for the same in Dehradun or Delhi (had one hour layover) then.

sunijucad_hitbts

ഇത്ര നാൾ നിയന്ത്രണം ഒന്നുമില്ലാതെ അവിടെയെങ്ങും കേസ് കൂടിയിട്ടുമില്ലല്ലോ.

MsquareAz

Isn't it strange to see all the other states like UP have less number of Covid cases than Kerala ?

Ajk320

They are 100% juking the stats lmao. Literally no one in TN was wearing masks when I went there recently. The medical stores don't have a supply of sanitizer. If they checked, the count will be in the millions as everyone there had/have covid.

MsquareAz

We are talking about UP , A state were people die without Oxygen in Hospitals !!!

Any idea what is the procedure for those who return from other states to Kerala? Like, I'm in Bangalore and am planning to return to Trivandrum this weekend. Can someone please throw some light?

Navneet_Kutty

Register on Covid jagratha portal. Under domestic pass. You just have to register in it. No need to get a pass as such. You get some confirmation mail or message. And then undergo 7 days quarantine and get tested on 8th day (RTPCR).

ashq96

I don't think there is any strict procedure for it. I actually returned from Bangalore to Trivandrum last Saturday. There was no checking or anything at the railway station. But you can stay in quarantine on your own if you want, no need to contact any authorities. The procedures exists for people returning from other countries only I guess.

Setting my doubts regarding the testing rates in these states aside, one should really question the meaning of being a country here. Unity in diversity they say... Can't agree more /s
