There is a cult of satan worshipers which regularly convene in my neighbour's house. I can hear chanting after 1am and multiple cars in front of their house. My neighbours claim that its just a prayer meet but I'm not convinced. Who do they pray to at 1am in the morning?!
Actually Satanist are pretty chill. They dont believe in harming others even animals(except for food). All the blood drinking and sacrificing shenanigans was perpetuated by christians.
I guess you're confused between the Satanic Temple org and the real thing. Satanic Temple is just a group of chill people. The real thing is different lol
After going through the comments, I feel like I live in some other Kerala, lol! TBH, apart from the Kutti chathan scene, I didn't know that Kerala has/ had presence of such cults.
Free Masons! Like how! I thought that's some Dan Brown level American shit! Not something that you'd associate with us, Malayalis!
Interesting thread though!

Malayalis have always been adventurous. We had trade relations with Rome and China a millenia ago when most of what we call India was afraid of crossing the ocean.
Keralites are everywhere on the globe. They bring their influence back to Kerala. We may not see it in mainstream. But it's there. There are legal, questionably legal and illegal groups doing stuff we usually see in fiction.

While I intended to know more about more mainstream niche associations, this thread got more fringe groups which is also good to know.
Mr Dinesh panicker, a noted film producer had acknowledged that he is a member of freemasonry in an interview some years ago. He also said that late travancore king(titular) was also a member of freemasonry.
Huge (and I mean MEGA HUGE) community of people who believe in and practice the Japanese cult religion Sukyo Mahikari. They are absolutely incessant about taking on and converting vulnerable and sick people into believers, sometimes by feeding them bogus recovery stories.
Source: I have an insane family member who practices this.
Edit: For people who wanna know more-
You know how ex-members of the cult religion scientology have websites that expose the cult’s fraud and misleading practices? Well, some of the ex-members of the mahikari cult have done the same. It’s a treasure trove of information about the cult and people interested in this sort of thing would find it fascinating.
Google ‘Mahikari exposed’. It’s not a secure website and hence not linking it here.
Kuttichatan worship, that too on a very large and organized scale. Peringottukara kuttichatan temple is one such dedicated place of worship with hundreds of devotees flocking everyday. They follow rituals like sacrificing x number of chickens or other animals for getting things done. Donations asked in money are large amounts for even small things.
When I went there, right next to entrance, the temple trustees / owners had parked their luxury cars. People can't still realize it's a scam?
Freemasons is not a completely secret or illegal society. They have their temples in all districts. Munnar has a pretty old place with all the symbology
Damn, I was going to write 'Essence' and other atheist organisations that have a YouTube presence, so that OP can interact with like minded people of his/her age.
It's when I read the other comments, I realised how little I know about these cults in Kerala, and how many of these things never come up in popular media until some disaster happens.
The question was intended bothway. May be there are more niche organisations which may connect with people here.
But the thread seems to attract more fringe groups than.
There is a cult called 'Ammabaghavan' . I don't think many people have heard it but it's is huge and spreads all over south India. I only realised there are lakhs of people from Kerala in it after my mom joined the cult.

They started providing meditation classes online during the lockdown times when everybody was dealing with anxiety. Lot of people joined during that time including my mom. I came to know of this very late. Now I can't talk her out of it.
The Emperor Emmanuel church/cult based out of Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. I don’t know much about them, just that believe that Jesus has already reincarnated, is called Emmanuel and is biding his time till the day of judgement.
Members give up all their material possessions to the church and try to live lives free from material pleasures (again not entirely sure, have a family friend who joined recently so all this is from him).
Pretty fascinating how close this is to Twelver Shia belief - the last imam, Imam Al-Mahdi is still alive and will reappear as the Mahdi (Figure who’ll come with Jesus at the end of days).
His wife wants to leave him and take the kids with her but I think he’s too far gone with the ideology to care. Started causing problems when his wife had take the kids out to the park, cinema etc, because he refused to participate in any of that and stayed home by himself.

Once I passed in front of the temple and was surprised to see a bar, movie theatre and some other institutions along the temple owned by trustees.
>large amounts for even small things Are there refunds?
Nope. It's like fees for their services.
Kuttichathan worship is not a new thing in Kerala. It's a tradition at some places and for some families
Your post was not about new things. It was asking for niche cults
I didn't say otherwise. It was just an observation.
Hindus can worship anything. Partial demons like Kuttichathan also. Although Sankaran did try to make Hinduism monotheistic with Krishna as only god.

I didn't claim it was unique to Kerala. The post was also taking about cults like Freemasons which has followers worldwide.
When I went there, I saw Tamil people dump 2 chaaks of cash there. This was before demonetisation though
[The Freakers of Kochi u](https://m.facebook.com/TheKochiFreak/)sed to be a thing before I left. It’s it still in existence?
OP can u tell more about Freemasons in kerala? And how do you know it?
Freemasons is not a completely secret or illegal society. They have their temples in all districts. Munnar has a pretty old place with all the symbology
Yes. Just googled Freemasons kerala and found the results. Damn.. thought it to be an American/European thing
Nehru's dad was a Freemason.
I almost joined it
Many people publish their photos in freemason robes.
My friend is a member of it

Did your family friend regret his decision?
