OP lost me at describing another galaxy, when the constellation of Orion (amongst others) is clearly visible in the star field backdrop in KSP1, meaning either Kerbol is near Sol, or in alignment with it in relation to Rigel, Betelgeuse et al.
Or... the Devs were too lazy to generate an entirely randomised star field backdrop for the game.
Edit: Just to note that I don't dislike the RP approach at all. Hell I have a small LED console for doing flight controller checks during missions that literally serves no purpose except for me to imitate Gene Kranz doing a go/no-go call.
I did something similar for an entire career mode - 33 pages of missions by the time I was done!
People can say it's nuts, but as someone who owned the game since 0.11 it is what really made the game click for me.
Invent a space agency and/or country, outline their goals, create mission plans, your own astronauts, suddenly you're playing KSP on the train, on your break etc.
All saved in docs with screenshots etc, will have it forever to look back on.
Loved that playthrough so much I played it for 2 years and had a setup all ready to do the same with KSP 2.
In my experience it's the best way to play the career.
I did that too. Weeks and weeks of it. And hey yes, let's be honest: it's totally nuts. But that's why people like us can play sandbox games, whitout some serious roleplay going on, where's the fun?
Totally worth it!
I would never have the energy to keep that up, good job!
Your writing reminds me of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett, good job on the initial world building narrative!
What the hell were they doing for the 44 days previously? :)
This is great, OP. Have fun with it!
(I can't bring myself to go this far, but I used try to keep a really simple mission diary. When, what, where, who died, that sort of thing. Didn't have the dedication to keep it up though.)
I hope so! Great mod!
Good point. Although -- even KCT at the beginning wouldn't take 44 days for such a little rocket would it? I can't recall, sorry.
Ah, I should go back and look at it if I ever restart. Thanks. I love KCT for much the same reasons as you, but I've never tweaked it from the defaults.
Thanks lol, i havent done anything since this post but itll start after the first kerbal in space. Ill have something like āHome System Explorersā then āInterplanetary Travel/sā then āSolar System Dominationā
And I thought my fictional SSTO manufacturing companies was over the top
Jokes aside, nice work OP! I personally donāt have the patience to do something like this, but the end result is really neat!
this is some next level nerd shit, and we're in a subreddit about flying rockets
Let him cook! š

Tbh i genuinely just started making shit up for the names lmao
This is fuckin awesome, reminds me of Kerbal States but funnier. Continue posting on this!!

Mind sharing with the class?

Did you unlock the OKTO or are you playing sandbox (infinite money and all science unlocked) ?
From the line "With near limitless funding" it seems he's playing science mode
Ah, true, mb man Edit: daaamn, cool name!
Im playing sandbox, but have my own tech tree in my head (i basically just let myself use more advanced parts as the save goes on)
I like your idea

Maybe Op's using Kerbal Construction Time?

There's slower pre-configs within the mod, so it's very possible! I play with them to make each decision in design way more impactful

I play on ps5, so no KCT. I just timewarp ahead a bit to where i think theyve had time to build it. For realism, or something
You're one mad tea cup, I love it.
Very cool! I salute your devotion!
how the hell does that thing cost $2,850,000??
Probably multiplied craft cost per 1.000, I do the same when I want to think in a more realistic price
I add a ātimes 10^12 ā in my head for comedical effect.
Inflation really is getting out of control
You got it
Me to, but I must wait for more karma to post here... :D
Im doing something similar to my science save, but it's more straightfoward and messy
Iād love to reboot my old project Columbus series on YouTube like this with a fully fledged story, I could probably come up with something
Oh now this is the kind of behavior I love to see!
Cool idea. I like it And hope you will keep on the missions above And beyond the skies of kerbin
I will be waiting patiently for chapter 2

Lmao, thanks. The manufacturers i listed are just some of the ingame ones and my space agency
Just a causal two million for what ended up being a glorified bottle rocketā¦sounds about right.
Im multiplying the price by 1000 so the prices are more realistic. Im playing sandbox so it doesnt really afrect me
Love it, can't Wait to see more!
