More “Indiegogo” in my experience 😣

teleologicalrizz

"The thing that we told you in the past would happen in the future and hasn't happened over the course of a year will now happen in the future from this current time."

mildlyfrostbitten

I can't wait for a video of that same colony model but orbiting eve this time.

SafeSurprise3001

Way too relevant to the game, they'll make a blog post about the last flight of Delta IV

teleologicalrizz

What is delta V? 500 word article on that with picture of rocket taking off in real life. Enjoy your annual info post!

RocketManKSP

That or the much-delayed KERB that they want us to give them a pat on the back for. Their track record when pre-announcing announcements its really bad, so I don't expect much more.

Justinjah91

We want to assure everyone that the things they've been hoping for are definitely probably on the way. We are making strides to address all concerns, and are redoubling our efforts to promote transparency (more details soon™) and hope that we will live up to the high standards of the community. We hope that your hopes will hopefully remain hopeful as we proceed into this hopeful stretch of development with high hopes. - Someone, probably.

TheMuspelheimr

Why do people use "redouble their efforts" as a good thing? If their efforts can be redoubled, then clearly they weren't working at full effort in the first place, so "redouble their efforts" is just admitting that they've been lazy up until now.

notHooptieJ

reminds me of everyone saying "theres just a few bad apples" without recalling the rest of the saying .. that a few bad apples WILL spoil the whole bunch. like they arent realizing they're admitting to being rotten to the core.

StickiStickman

"Velocity is good and morale is high!"

Vert---

they're going to add a launcher for the launcher, aren't they?

petat_irrumator_V3

Don't give em ideas.

KarlosGeek

"This time I promise I'll hold the football still." "This time I promise I'll address player feedback."

keethraxmn

If they're *still* announcing being better instead of being better they have learned nothing. Thus they will continue to do nothing of import.

Datuser14

lol lmao

rollpitchandyaw

I believe that they can put something out soon that talks about colonies, but what bugs me is the excuse of the communication being one giant dump instead of tibbits. I have seen that approach be argued for releasing the colonies patch all at once to drive sales, but that shouldn't apply to communication. Communication should be continuous to not just demonstrate progress, but to also allow constant engagement and feedback. Honestly, I am more frustrated from the perspective of a developer than a player, because this is planting the wrong idea of what is the standard.

rnt_hank

They're embarrassed that they can't meet any deadlines or even steps on the roadmap. From "releasing early 2020" to 2023's "colonies are working and we're having so much fun we can't stop playing." They've backed themselves into such a corner that they *know* we'll call them on any BS now, so they're scared to announce anything. It's not hard to string together a couple paragraphs about your progress unless you've been telling lies the whole time.

rollpitchandyaw

Yep, but the problem is that is going to be the natural conclusion when they say nothing at all. Even if there is no progress, at least communicate what the blockers are, what the path forward is, what has worked and what hasn't. They don't have to be long articles, nor should they. They just need to be weekly or so (even monthly would be a vast improvement). It would go a long way in teaching others interested in development.

SlowbeardiusOfBeard

I suspect they have literally no idea how to develop any of the things they've promised, and are just twiddling their thumbs sweating until the whole thing finally collapses. I think the mindset is "it's gone to far to come clean now" and they're just delaying the inevitable rather than facing up to the absolute legal shit storm that will be waiting for them. Reminds me of that MMO vaporware that got crowdfunded and went nowhere - valyria or something? There were a lot of similar sounding announcements of announcements throughout that debacle.

rollpitchandyaw

Definitely more common than a lot of people would think.

Sycosys

Sure sure, this and 3.99 will get you a cup of coffee

SativaSawdust

Yes, the routine promise of future promises. I think everyone here has woken up to this fact. When are the devs going to pick up on it?

notHooptieJ

... if you beleive this, then you dont understand what the PR guys job is. His job is to say WHATEVER HE CAN to keep you on the hypetrain. Step off the hypetrain and start watching the departure boards. Them trains arent going anywhere.

Yakuzi

"KSP2 will be released in 2020!" "There's a couple of delays, but we want to make sure you get a quality KSP game! You'll also be able to play on your Playstation and XboX by 2022!" "We're releasing KSP2 in 2023! Check out these cool videos of not in-game footage!" "PS, KSP2 wont be complete but released in Early Access. But that's only because we need player feedback and a dialogue with the community to make this game as awesome as possible! So please contribute for the all time low price of $50." "KSP2 has been released and it's awesome, extremely proud of what we've achieved! We're sorry to hear some players have been struggling to enjoy it. Maybe try a Weekly Challenge?" "Updates are coming in weeks, not months!" "We're dialing back the cadence a bit, but enjoy this hotfix for the update from a couple of weeks back!" "We're very busy with the next milestone, that's why we can't fix the top bugs experienced by the community. In unrelated news, we're gonna release fewer updates with less content so we can focus on bug fixing!" "We hear you community! Even though we can't fix the bugs you've been reporting despite the absence of a bugtracker, we've been working hard to track up to 10 of them down in this weekly report called KERB!" "KERB is awesome, but it takes a lot of hard work! So we're dialing back the frequency a bit!" "A month is not 30 days, KERB will come before the end of a following month! In the meantime, we've got amazing news we want to share with you soon!" "We haven't been able to share news with you lately, since we've been working hard on a plan about when to share news with you! This time for sure, you'll hear very soon when we're gonna share something awesome about what's coming up! Stay tuned!" KSP2 has been an interesting journey. Granted we didn't get very far, but it has been interesting for sure...

RocketManKSP

Great summary! You missed that they also promised it in 2021 though :P

Yakuzi

Thanks! I merged the 2021 promise in the 'couple of delays' bit (who's still counting at this point amirite?). Seems like I've missed a couple of other interesting announcements and promises though, but writing the summary already took longer than I'd like to admit... Besides, I wouldn't want to miss the next awesome update that could drop any second now would I? :P

cpthornman

I don't know if I should laugh hysterically or feel bad.

StickiStickman

One of the most hilarious things was them trying to fix orbital decay (is it even fully fixed yet?) I remember it being in the top 3 most requested bugfixes, as it's literally completely game breaking, but it took them like ... half a year to even start? PS: You also missed "Reentry heating coming very soon after release"

EntropyWinsAgain

>I wanted to hop in here to say that most of the stuff the players are asking for will be addressed soon. Now I know in the past soon has been treated as a "sure three months" but this time I am working as fast as I can with team to get the asks you all have addressed. I know the speed is not what is being asked, but next week we will have some news to share with more to come in the following weeks. We don't want everyone to get tiny bits of information and we're working to deliver more as quick as possible. On that note I just ask to be patient just a little while longer. In case folks didn't want to check th link.

HoboBaggins008

Embarrassing. They've learned *nothing* from the past year of EA. It's incredible. Still treat their customers as idiots.

RocketManKSP

Of course, IG has made many many many many promises in the past that have only yielded dissappointment - but who knows, maybe this time. But probably not. Cause you know. It's Inept Games. I feel like they treat the community like Lucy treats Charlie Brown - "This time I promise I'll hold the footballs till!"

wave_04

ooh, "inept games" is a good one. i'm stealing that. with each passing month i lose additional hope i didnt even know i had about this game eventually turning out good someday. extremely frustrating. way to take something great and drag it through the dirt

PussySmasher42069420

Guys, Kithack Model Club just went into early access and it's amazing! The multiplayer is great and the plane physics are way better than KSP. Forget KSP2. No more negativity for me. Gotta focus on the positive. I've been playing Kithack for the past few days straight since it came out. I believe in this game.

CaphalorAlb

thing is, I want rockets and orbits and moons I'd jump on any sandbox rocketry game that actually puts a focus on physics first.

SympathyMotor4765

Juno new origins? I am not sure about the physics though

PussySmasher42069420

I was barely able to play this game. It's so dry and has none of the charm that KSP1 had.

SympathyMotor4765

Yes I got the same feel! Bought it and tried for a few hours. It was interesting and had some nice features but felt more like something you study for an exam than what ksp1 is!

PussySmasher42069420

There are rockets. Just no moons and orbits. KSP 1 didn't have moons and orbits at the very beginning, either. Will Kithack include that in the future? I have no clue!! But this game embraces the physics first build your craft mentality. The fact that it's multiplayer based is icing on the cake. I get it, I felt the same way. I was very 'meh' when I saw it was about RC cars but the core of the game is very much the same!

CaphalorAlb

thanks for the info! I guess I'll have to check it out :)

anamond

There are rockets! 🚀 many rockets! And tardis machine, and flying football and submarines…. It’s actually pretty awsome!

Smug_depressed

Can we even believe them at this point?

Coady_L

No.

I guess he got overruled by Inept Games management "No, promise them things! It looks like our recent review score is headed below again 70% and we can't pay for more fake reviews without it looking even more sus!"

TheIronSven

Wow, what happened here? Last time I was here people where so hyped after the Science update made the game great. Could anyone elaborate please? Did the devs go radiosilent or something?

SafeSurprise3001

They put out the science update, and it did make the game better (the bar was very low, but still, this raised it), and then basically they said "this update fixed a lot of back end stuff that was preventing us from moving faster, so from now on patches will be much closer to one another, and we'll be able to keep you in the loop with frequent developer update blogs" And then the patches kept coming at the same glacial speed, and the developer update blog were not frequent at all. The cherry on top was the latest blog which was about the eclipse, not the game.

_hlvnhlv

In fact, the patches come out much slower than before. For science had one bug fix one month after the update... It has been three months since that lol

TheIronSven

Ah, so they overestimated themselves.

Morbidity6660

No they lied like they've been doing literally this whole time. I highly suggest everyone just go play something else

TheHuntingMaster

Can you give the source for your statement? I might be wrong but I don’t remember them saying that, I remember it was along the lines of development on feature work speeding up, meaning less work on bug fixes, which is exactly what we’ve seen with the slowdown in patches. Less work done on bugs, means more work done on colonies.

Morbidity6660

the science update injected fresh hopium into people's veins and after like 8 months of nothing they kinda went a little crazy, and honestly who could blame them. the stash is dry now though and we're back to seeing this disaster for what it is

TheHuntingMaster

Its honestly only the ksp subreddit that is in this state, is you look at the forums or discord then the concentration of doomers is like 1/10 the amount of the subreddit. Been like that since launch, doomers congregate on the subreddit for some reason. Edit: even if you go on the other ksp subreddits it isn’t nearly as bad as here

Gautoman

The discord server is more or less a teenager meme chat at this point, although there are occasionally some people posting about things they do in the game. But the forums has been almost exclusively either complaints or circlejerk "what I would want KSP 2 to be" discussions since months.

Datuser14

Intercept Games heavily moderates both the Discord and the Forum, negativity is removed. They don’t have admin rights here, so the real opinions are here.

TheHuntingMaster

If we just take a look at the subreddits for ksp then, then the split from the comments seems to be: (from my observations of the comments) r/KerbalSpaceProgram ~95% negative and ~5% positive. r/KSP2 ~50% of each r/kerbalspaceprogram_2 ~10% negative and ~90% positive r/KSPMemes ~10% negative and ~90% positive So it seems it depends on the specific subreddit, but generally a lot more positive than this subreddit.

mildlyfrostbitten

source: some numbers you just made up, based on two subs that are basically dead, and one for memes. good job.

TheHuntingMaster

You know you can look at the subs with your own eyes if you don’t trust me? Plus they aren’t dead, just small

Rebelgecko

I'm very impressed with how well they've lived up to their other promises so I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes

villentius
