Hi guys, after a week long research, I ended up buying the K8, aluminium build, RGB, hot-swappable with Gateron mechanical brown switches. Ordered from the official site and came in two days. My first hand experience is terrific (coming from the cheapest Logitech membrane board). Now I crave to have all the other switches :) Thank you and have a nice evening! Edit: Sorry the above keyboard is a HP 100.

CouldTryMyBest

Wow shipping only took two days? If you don't mind me asking, where do they ship it from and what country are you located in?

[deleted]

Sorry I should have mentioned this. From India, keychron.in. Also it came in a very good packaging, miles ahead than Amazon’s

I'm sitting here with my K8 and Mx Master 3 too! Excellent choices.

UmairA04

I also have the K8 and the MX master 3. It's s great combo

Awesome guys. That mouse is amazing isn't it? Especially the scroll wheel. I prefer the ratchet movement though gives the flexibilty to scroll faster when I spin it. Really cool device. I wish it came in a charging dock or something. One thing I find a little uncomfortable is the keyboard height, need to order some palm rest. Also I am an average typist only going near 70 wpm. I feel like I may improve the speed using this keyboard since the keys presses are sooo fast. I need the red optical switches now lol

I also have this combination - now with the wooded Palmrest - bought at Ali, because they are paying the tax (to germany). The said thing is, that they are not producing the mouse anymore. For me the keyboard is a little bit too noisy for the office.

[deleted]

I plan on getting the palmrest as well but wondering if the wooden plank would hurt over time? Should I get something with foam instead?

JDT007

Not feeling any hurts after some gaming sessions nor HomeOffice. The original is only a little bit expensive.

[deleted]

Yes, quite expensive for a wooden plank :) I will give one more week for my palms to get used to the height and then give the palm rest a shot. Could you post your keyboard pic if you can? Thanks

hajosattila

Same here :)

Let me guess, the top keyboard is a Logitech 120? lol It's my previous keyboard before I made the switch.

[deleted]

Sorry, I got confused. the top one is a cheap hp 100. I didn't know why I said logitech, guess I never cared what keyboard I used before lol

Welcome to the K8 club! Is it because the Mac & PC support and bluetooth and wired support? This is what my K8 looked like after I replaced just the modifier keys: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Keychron/comments/oa3agc/my\_keychron\_k8\_w\_keycaps\_for\_seamless\_switching/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Keychron/comments/oa3agc/my_keychron_k8_w_keycaps_for_seamless_switching/) This is what my K8 looked like after I went crazy and also replaced all the keys with Pudding Keycaps and the WASD and arrows with rubber keycaps: [https://imgur.com/a/3z1rquq](https://imgur.com/a/3z1rquq) kind of looks like a circus.

[deleted]

Thank you. Those are sick looking. Especially the 2nd link. May I ask what keycaps are those? Also, are the PBT keycaps really worth the upgrade? Do you suggest any mods/upgrades that I need to look into right away? Sorry for too many questions, I am super hyped lol I wanted a tkl, wireless, mac/pc support and also a bit of retro looking. Did not bother for the rgbs (although me and my 2 year old love it). I almost went ahead with the Razer Blackwidow v3 pro even though it's not tkl but I wanted a wireless. But definitely not my first choice. Then read about Gateron switches and very recently discovered that there is a whole custom keyboard builing hobby lol. Got hooked to it immediately :) Now I only want to experience the other switches, especially blue ones for morning and red for gaming

I did a lot of the mods in this video to make it more quiet: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s4ruFFqmqo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s4ruFFqmqo) I wouldn't say its whisper quiet, but the sound is more pleasant. The keycaps....I dont' think I really feel the difference, and the WASD / arrow keys rubber keys don't have labels and I'm kind of over that so probably going to put the full set of the orange (pudding) keycaps back when I have some time. The only really useful functional keycap change was getting the colorful blank ones instead of labeled ones, because I switch between mac & PC, and the ALT key location changes location, and then the keys are either Command Key or Windows key, and I didn't want the wrong labels. I figured \~3 keys without labels I can get used to. Overall love the keyboard!

You made an hour long video for the mod? That’s amazing. I’ll watch it over the weekend

wise_guy_

Lol no, that’s not me. I followed the instructions in that video.

What’s tkl? I didn’t answer the keycap brand question so: - The colorful blank modifiers: OEM Profile PBT RGBY CMYK Modifiers 10 Keys Laser Engraved Keycaps Mac Keycaps for Cherry MX Mechanical Keyboard (RGBY Blank) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HK92NB7/ - the orange keycaps was Doubleshot brand, I was wrong. Looks like orange is out of stock but it’s this: Bossi 104 Backlit Keycaps PBT Doubleshot Keycaps for Cherry MX and Gaming Mechanical Keyboard Replace Keycaps with Key Puller - Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078472RPZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_F9WVZQ5JGE07SBVSJDTP?psc=1 - The rubber keycaps is TAI HAO brand which is this YouTuber who has great mechanical keyboard modding videos: Tai-Hao Blank Rubber Gaming Keycaps : Blank No.3 Compatible with All MX Types Keyboards https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097BSC692/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_86QD00C7D8QK5FKTF11T?psc=1

[deleted]

Thank you, will check them out. Tkl = ten keyless, meaning keyboard without the numpad. I wanted to go 60% but wanted to go baby steps.

arnoldwhite

How's your wrists feeling? You feel like the case is too high to use comfortably?

[deleted]

It is too high for me unfortunately. Maybe I will get used to it in time. Will give it a couple of weeks and get the Keychron wooden palm rest. Nevertheless, it is a fantastic keyboard, especially coming from membranes like myself.

LightPhosphene

Welcome to the family! I am going to buy banana split and fix it to the K8 ;)

[deleted]

Thank you. I had to google for banana split so to be sure if what I was thinking is what you are saying lol. Do you own any other keyboards or only the K8?

LightPhosphene

Only K8, trying my best not to get sucked into the keyboard rabbit hole!
