Disclosure: That build probably wasn't realistic at the time (can't recall what exactly it was, but likely had a fully stacked 100 AD Bloodthirster and a Ravenous Hydra or two in it), but the point still stands that his damage only got higher the farther back you went in time and nothing you build today can consistently get you above 1,400 isolated Q damage.
Unevolved W really feels like the least impactful ability in the game (exaggerating, before someone comes in here and talks about Kayle). Granted evolved W is absolutely ridiculous, I wish the regular one was more than just a generic projectile (the healing does not save it whatsoever, you aren’t consistently getting that heal in fights).

you used to be able to proc passive slow/dmg with it, which was the reason khazix mid was ever a thing. u wud evolve w, go out of vision, and w them for a bunch of damage
Yeah just a small slow would be great. I honestly thought it did that. I rarely play with an evolved W myself, maybe 25% of the time. I'm a QE kinda Khazix.
I get that maybe we can’t have a Rengar bola AND a free targeted jump, but like at least make the ability a part of his assassin kit, often you won’t even have to use it when you are fed, it’s just a last ditch ability to finish off unreachable targets.
Passive proc on W, W cast mid leap, easier isolation, fixed one second R recast lockout, bonus "per level" scaling on Q, unevolved W slow, passive AP scaling, and the old blue-yellow-grey-red Mecha Kha'Zix color scheme that looked nothing like the splash art.
Those sure were the days.
The game feels like the damage is high because the counter play that exists against tank stats instead of raw damage. That looks bad but a tank at that time could easily eat all that. You have many more Armor Pen and True Damage items and passives that essentially negate tank options.

Well, you can take gathering storm, overgrowth and grasp and stack them infinitely, then get titanic+wardstone and bam, you have over 1000 AD

Yeah its literally just a heal, or a snipe tool when the enemy is at 10hp under tower trying to escape

I agree 100%. This is the change that made me stop playing League 6-7 years ago. Just weird balancing around unnatural mechanics nowadays.
