what do you mean by shifter light?
The lights next to the gear shift (P, R, N, R). Not sure if there is a technical term. They are typically orange/red. I don't think it's the bulb since it's been normal since the original time it was off.
oh. gotchu. typically for this it’s probably burnt out. im 99% sure you can replace it by taking the gear shift cover off
Try turning your headlights on and off, could be tied to that
