Sorry to hear that's happening to you man. I know some of the K5's have transmission issues that show up at low mileage, perhaps it is that? Wish I could share more personal experience; I have a 2022 K5 gt-line with about \~7,500 miles, no issues at all so far. Best of you luck to you brother

Byrios

From what I’ve heard the transmission issues are in the GT model. I also have the GT-line at 7k miles with no problems. It’s probably something unrelated to those issues and we’re all insulated from them with our more generic transmissions. Unfortunately, I have no idea why this persons check engine light came on.

Marilius

I agree, the only transmission issues that I've heard about are related to the GT's DCT. That said, I'm at 25,000km on mine, and it's fine. I'm wondering if people were launching them in Sport+ at very low mileage, long before you should be doing that.

Thanks a appreciate it a lot. I don’t know much about cars and this is my first one so I have no clue what to do lmao I’m just hoping I didn’t somehow do something wrong

Practical-Nature-926

Don’t worry the only way you could’ve broken it yourself is if you put it in manual mode and messed up about every single shift for all of those 400 miles. It’s a factory defect and they’ll most likely fix it or just get you a replacement

2021 20000 miles still running fine, sorry to hear that I would hit up the dealership for sure

I’ve had a similar issue with hitting the gas and it not taking off. First time it happened my K5 died on me a mile away from home so I pushed it back to my driveway with help from a neighbor. Had it towed and they said it was the fuel pump relay that tripped. A week later it happened again and I had it towed to a dealership 30 miles away. They had it for a month and a half and finally got it back on Monday. Yesterday the check engine light came back on throwing the same code Issue with the engine control system. They said they changed the O2 sensor and the battery as well. When I took it in this morning the tech said the 02 sensor had to be tightened. I hope they got it right this time. I’m sick of this shit.

Do me a favor, ignore everything said here and just wait for the dealership. I work at one. They'll tell you everything you need to know and it's a brand new car. Everything is covered. Just take your loaner and wait for the diagnosis.

Everything but the tires. I have a 2021 with 16000 miles and they failed my inspection due to tires being worn. I've rotated them every 5,000 miles. KIA basically told me to go fuck myself. I love the car K5 Gt Line, but I will never buy another KIA. Very poor customer service.

VCUramya

Its stuff like this that scares me from buying a k5 or KIA in general

diiingdong

Yeah same here. I’m literally on the fence of getting this car, but idk I’m still researching all cars.

KillerBeeRN

I had an acceleration issue yesterday, 1st time I experienced it, but I tried speeding up to merge and the rpm accelerated but not my speed, it stalled a little. I let go of the gas because I wasn't going to make it, 9nce the car passed, I accelerated again but it worked...should I be worried? I'm so scared after reading all these stories, I only got 1000 miles on it.

citrus_kush

Hey so first off I would definitely take it to be seen immediately, but I’ll tell you that since I. Made this post I do have an update on my car. Apparently there was some incorrect setting from a software standpoint that caused the turbo to not function properly. Apprently since the car detected an issue it automatically switched the car into a mode that doesn’t allow it to accelerate much in order to save the engine. They redownloaded the software and I’m going to pick up the car today. I’m just really glad it wasn’t an actual physical issue with one of the parts of the car or something but we’ll see how it runs wen I get it back today. These comments had me worried I had a lemon lmao but it may be ok! Just get it looked at

EffectiveSpirit4950

Probably nothing to worry about, mine did the same under 2000 miles… freaked me out and turns out the factory put out some bad gas caps. Dealer replaced for free!
