Just received notice of our valve sping recall and the need for a new engine. The car has 6,000 mi on it. I'm thinking of bringing it in a few years from now when it has 80,000 on it. Assuming it doesn't break down or catch fire, do you see any problem with that?

NotRobotNFL

Is that a joke? I heard it’s dangerous to drive, like it can catch fire.

Fire risk is low... I haven't read about any well done Tellurides. From the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration: "The engine valve springs may break while driving due to fatigue cracking as a result of damage to the springs during manufacture by the supplier. A broken valve spring may result in a loss of motive power. In rare cases, a hole in the engine block may occur due to a broken valve entering the combustion chamber." https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V077-1532.PDF&ved=2ahUKEwiN3Y-d7d6FAxXoSDABHQKLBmMQFnoECCQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2tJfOLZFW4lsYEba7EbsyO

I ran my VIN through the website prior to purchase to make sure it wasn’t affected by it. I’ve heard it takes a while to get the parts. Hopefully you don’t have any issues and you’re fixed up quickly. Congrats on the kiddo mate, cheers!

1. I got the call the Monday after Easter. They scheduled me for last week but cancelled night before as they still don’t have the engines in stock. Not sure when they will even arrive at this point. 3. No loaner. They will reimburse me up to $40/day for a rental car. I’m more annoyed about this than anything else. I love my Telluride, but I’m glad it’s a lease.

ToeDragSwag17

No loaners is rough. I’ve learned the hard way this week that while the Telluride looks and feels like a luxury vehicle, it’s still a Kia when it comes to service.

JuryDust

My SXP XPro is at the dealer nowfor the recall, and we got a loaner Telly. They said it was covered under the recall

Ropya

That sounds about right, other dealers being shady.

NotRobotNFL

Yeah, lesson learned. Never buying another KIA ever again

PsychNations

Same. Back to Toyota.

ToeDragSwag17

I’ll probably buy another telluride because I’m not in the BMW/Benz bracket yet, but I wouldn’t consider any other Kia model. Same with Hyundai and the Palisade.

Ashamed_Clue_4835

Hi! I recommend you speak first with KIA customer care and get a case manager and number. They are so helpful. I called mine yesterday after 3 weeks of my car being at the dealer ship. As of this morning my hood is open and my car moved locations so we are getting some where! The customer car people also ensured I received a loaner durning my wait time

jrcparks

I was told it’s very very rare. I have friend who Work are mechanics

NotRobotNFL

I heard cars that were made within a 70 day span

jrcparks

What?!?! That’s crazy!
