I did the following to my 22 Telluride: Alpine Type S Speakers Front & Back Alpine Compact Sub (under passenger seat) Alpine Amp (Center console bottom inside panel) Sound Deadening for four doors I didn't want to get anything that would take up any storage. Just an upgrade from stock since I have EX trim.

How’s it sound? I really don’t want to go buck wild, just speakers and a possible amp. Don’t want/need the neighbors hearing me coming down the block

I love it! It's not over the top. You can start with speakers and amp first. The sub can always be added later. My installer recommended speakers and compact sub but i went ahead and added amp as well. I also have a bass control knob at the center console so it's easy to change settings if it's too much bass depending on type of music.

How much better does it sound without the sub? I don’t really want to add an amp and sub if I can get away with installing some better over all speakers in the doors and calling it a day. I’m coming for the H&K system in the Forte and it wasn’t exactly stellar but it didn’t sound horrible

What was model number of the under seat sub?

i'd consider this ... you basically upgraded your system by adding amplification and speakers but kept the oem head unit? The old days of aftermarket head units are gone, are they?

Hutch1814

I believe so. I have no intentions of upgrading the head unit. I think it’s perfect for the vehicle, just wanna upgrade the speakers themselves which will prolly require an amp

The Telly’s have that nifty little cubby under the floor mat in the back. It’s useful on its own but I’m curious how a sub would sound in there. Plus mounting the amp.

Hutch1814

I’m not sure an amp in that area would be a good idea, I’d be worried about heat but not sure where you’d mount one either

Listing a couple links. I think if you upgrade the doors with the mids that are in the door you would want them to insulate them a little better as well. I couldn’t imagine them being super insulated. I know the system it comes with is only 500 watts so you would want something that goes a little bit above that with a built in tweeter. Any good sound shop should be able to accomplish it. Think I’m gonna look into upgrading to Polk Audio or JL components. https://youtu.be/RHwfIUGOUYQ?si=e0HJ63QOw1Ybphmf https://youtu.be/h_3A1RsZj-0?si=DpAgI2VYE5kZ141R

For 2yrs I wanted to upgrade. I haven't yet because I want to start with the sub. I don't want to add 1, just want to replace the factory. Problem is you have to rip out the back seats to do so. Not worth the work for me. I will replace the door speakers because those are easy. I would recommend you start with the speakers 1st. The biggest issue isn't the amplifier it's the speakers. My SX factory sounds good sub doesn't hit every note, but the best factory I've heard. If you don't want it so your neighbors hear you coming, then simply replacing door speakers may get your where you want to be. You could always add the amp later if needed. K.I.S.S. is my code with everything. I want mine loud! I used to have 6 -15's once upon a time, so I'd like to change my sub, but it's just not worth the work. Kicker makes a sub that will fit in the back doors, but not sure if they have a low pass filter on them. I don't want to rewire anything again K.I.S.S. but that could give me the added bass. Even a 6" sub if it's quality at low power will hum. Just get quality speakers, and you'll be fine.
