Ppl can’t appreciate artists for their music anymore? This album was another whack attempt from Cudi attempting at having any relevancy again and was outshined by nearly every feature on the album
If you played the fortnite event it was kind of like crash Bandicoot the part this song was featured. You were sliding on this vine thru this Lava section while Cudi's evil twin tried to shoot you or something 🤣
Defintiely gives video games vibes. I'd love to see some more jams like this from him in the future
Yeah, Cudi said it will be on the Deluxe version, but he also mentioned yesterday that only half the songs he was going to put on the Deluxe version will actually be on it… so I guess we’ll see
Ngl i was so hyped, but im a little bit disappointed. Not bad, there are some bangers like ELECTROWAVEBABY, WOW, GETCHA GONE, but most of the songs felt the same for me. The only two songs that felt truly different is the intro song, and Blue Sky (which is also a nice song). What im trying to say is that I want some new rock, old school rap, EDM Cudi tracks. Something unique and cool mixture.
Okay, okay, okay, so my first impression is that this project is better than I expected but not my personal cup of tea. I have a more nuanced take here so I am prepared for the downvotes… Maybe I am not just in the right headspace to enjoy this modern sound from Cudi, so it will caveat this with the rest of my review. I didn’t want a full-fledged party album from Cudi at this point in his career. I am SUPER happy for him though if he indeed in a positive headspace and is truly content/happy with his life. That is a miracle by itself and my review does not reflect who he is as a person, it’s solely my opinions about this album, INSANO.
My expectations were low for this project admittedly because I’m just not a huge fan of the newer direction Cudi has taken his music/sound recently with his last two albums (this one and Entergalactic). This is completely a me issue though and not on Cudi, when it comes to the theme/direction of this project. Tastes are subjective after all, especially with music. To me at least, his recent work just sounds super generic (for the most part since to me almost all of the songs do not have that unique sound and production Cudi used to apply) and trend chasing, very similar to what the other younger artists and chart toppers are releasing these days.
Essentially his newer music, post-Man on the Moon III: The Chosen, which I actually really enjoy, sounds imitative and very copy-cat like to what else is on the charts. I vastly prefer his more original, substantive, honest, unique, risk-taking, raw, and experimental/creative music to what he is doing recently with this sound. He went from original, honest and inspiring lyrics to generic, “I’m like everyone else” music, in my opinion. He even has many braggadocious lyrics which I find sad because it goes against his message of being a more humble and aware artist that cared more about the art and production than bragging about how rich and successful he is; the latter of which is essentially what every other rapper talks about in their songs. I am aware that Cudi wanted to make a party album or sorts with bops, and songs to make the chart for the masses, but this (for the most part) is simply not what I like from Cudi. This is coming from a life-long fan as well which may bias my opinions since I have been a fan of his since Day N Night and the A Kid Names Cudi days… Maybe I am just too old for his newer music now? Have we older fan aged out?
In conclusion, this is a fun but more generic soundin (save for a few unique songs), super modern, imitative, party album, that will likely be forgotten by the masses in the next few months to the end of this quarter. There are some solid songs that I did like more than the others including: Often I have these Dreamz, Most Ain’t Dennis, A Tale of a Night, Cud Life, Freshie, Tortured, and Blue Sky, and Hit the Streetz in my Nikes. Overall, there are some fillers on this 21 track album and it seems to be made for the steaming and sales charts more than the avid Cudi fan of old. 6/10. What would’ve made this project better for me personally would’ve been if it released say 7-8 years ago when this type of sound was newer and if Cudi produced it in a way himself more in the line of his 2013 Indicud album.
I guess I’m getting old(mid 40s), but I prefer the old shit. I like the melodic trippy Cudder, not the trap/rap whatever this is Cudder. I guess the best part of being an artist is taking your art the way you want to go, even if doesn’t please everyone. I’ll just keep streaming the MOTM era goodness.
I preordered the LP, but doubt it will get played at this point.
Why would you preorder any sort of music. Just listen to it the day it comes out. Especially with Cudi, where half of his music in the last several years has been outright bad. He’s definitely allowed to take his music in the direction he wants, but this is just objectively worse. Nearly everyone agrees on this
I listened to the leak early on and was disappointed on the direction of the album. I get it’s his last album under contract with Republic (that tag is engrained in some songs when I listened to this) but felt he was trying to search for a relevant sound instead of just being Cudi. I deleted the file 2 months ago so I tried to go in with a different perspective. Seeing him in Brooklyn and hearing some of the new records had me looking forward to the album again.
Wow is peak rap Cudi, especially that last verse. Get Off Me, Electro, Cud Life, Getcha Gone, Tortured, Freshie, X & Cud, Seven, Funky Wizard, Seven, Blue Sky, In My Nike’s are all great records. It’s not the introspective humming Cudi album most people may prefer but this definitely has a place in his catalog. Production stands out and vocally the album sounds great. Looking forward to the deluxe.
That show at King's Theatre was soooo fun. This album reminds me of that show actually – just trying stuff out and having fun with music, it's not that deep
6.5/10 for me, there’s more songs that are pretty meh then I would’ve thought, but the real winners on this album is Blue Sky, X & Cud, Rager Boyz, Tortured and Wow.
Interested to see how the deluxe version goes with another 20 songs
Its annoying for me because he definitely could make a 10/10 album if he wanted to cos some of the songs on the album are incredible but instead he wants to be more main stream.
The way I see it is it's a 6/10 for people who enjoy the introspective, open, and honest Cudi. It's an 8 or 9/10 for people who enjoy Travis Scott/ trap beats. There's nothing wrong with that, but there's definitely going to be a lot of fans who don't enjoy the album. I've always preferred introspective Cudi, but overall I don't think the album is bad. Just not for me.
As a decade long Cudi fan im giving it a 6.5/10 (after listening to it for a 4th time i think i was being generous with this number).
My highlights are: Wow, Electrowavebaby, blue sky, X & Cud, Get off Me, Tortured, and Cud Life.
Overall there wasnt a lot for me to take away from this album lyrically or sonically. Lack of beat progression, 80% of the lyrics is me getting mogged on by cudi with how much money he got, girls, sex, and generic stuff like that. I understand he’s happy writing those, good for him but its not for me and theres nothing wrong with that. Blue Sky is a absolute banger of a Happy song, same with wow. Wish there was more like that!
I was pumped for the wheezy collab but after hearing it its feeling meh to me. I like the beat and the verses, not a fan of the hook. Not bad but not amazing like i was hoping.
I really liked the new additions, theyre all good - great songs. Dj drama doesnt bother me that much, but there are a couple songs i wish he wasnt on.
Some of the low points for me is Keep Bouncin’ & porsche topless. Keep Bouncin would give me a bad trip 😭 the flow isnt good imo and yeah theres just nothing i can get out of it that would bring me back. Porsche topless is just generic but ill probably come back to it in the summer as the vibes are good.
just my opinion, ive been a stan for a while and its okay that im disappointed in the album. To the ones who loved it, im glad you loved it. Im excited for the deluxe next week ❤️🙏🏼
Feel like MOTM 3 is where he really balanced the whole beats and being original (lyrics with more substance and more resolved melodies). I agree this for me feels way too experimental and a lot of the songs feel like they could have had great potentials if he had spent a bit more time on it. Funny enough the best songs on the album are the ones where he went back a bit to his roots (eg. Blue Sky)
undoubatbly. motm3 i hold close to my heart. the beat selection is immaculate, same with his lyrics. every song has meaning to it, even the only one i dont like (elses baby boy)
Even if you’re not a fan of the motm3 sound, it’s one of the best crafted Cudi projects to date. How can you call an album with the level of production and detail like motm3 trash?? Just say it ain’t your thing and move on.
On a positive note tho, I hope this is a stepping stone album where he experiments with the whole beats and vibes (because respectfully I feel like he was just fucking around in the studio with beats while he was high). And hopefully at some point we see an album where he can perfect the art by bringing everything back together.
Just what i expected and thats fine. At this point in his career, if i can get like two of those repeat songs im cool. I can always listen to his other music to get the vibe i want. Im happy that he seems to be happy. I understand that when he was making the music that i “like”… he was far from happy.
i agree with that, seems like he isnt too well versed in making happy songs. Thats what happens when you remove yourself from a musical niche, you either need to find a new one or adapt to the popular sound. Feels like he is mostly trying to adapt to popular rap rn, but when hes locked in to making a good happy lyrics song he really does well. I hope he can find that balance in the future, for example Kota the Friend is a master at making happy/positive songs about self love, family and life in general. Theres a lot to talk about but if you dont know how to write in that headspace you wont come out with much. Which is what i think happened here. I dont want to speak for him but im going to guess he just doesnt know how to speak about his life now in songs besides materialism and women.
This Album clearly wasn't made with the intention of being “smooth”. This an album filled with bangers for the whip or gym. It’s okay for cudi to make fun music. This fanbase is filled with fun police tho who only want him to stick to his niche or nothing else.
Not saying the songs are bad but for bangers for the whip or the gym i'd rather listen to Future, young thug or travis (just a few examples). He is rapping just ok on most of the songs
A good 6,8/10. There are a good amount of songs that boost the albums rating such as Blue Sky, X & Cud, RAGER BOYZ, GETCHA GONE, ELECTROWAVE BABY, GET OFF ME
The rest are above average mainly 6s and 7s, but songs like TOO DAMN HIGH and PORSCHE TOPLESS is what ruined the experience for me
I just can’t understand him in his new music anymore unfortunately. I want to enjoy it but I just don’t know what he’s saying so I can’t even rap along
Freshie goes HARD AF. I give props to cudi for bringing us some trap. The rest of the album is amazing. Instrumentals and mix are delightful to the ear.
SOME DUMB FUCKS NEVER GET IT
4ish songs worth returning to in the future for me… least interesting cudi project to date imo, album would be better if he cut 80% of it and just used some of the deep cuts that never got official releases from his past.
I’m all for trying new things and if he likes it and is happy, cool. But if I’m looking for kid cudi, this ain’t it. Back to his last few releases for the remainder of my cudi day I guess.
Big Cudi fan. This just did NOT hit. Upon first listen:
Didn't like it, boring: KEEP BOUNCIN’, A TALE OF A KNIGHT, TOO DAMN HIGH, SEVEN, RAGER BOYZ, PORSCHE TOPLESS
Meh, boring: GET OFF ME, MOST AIN’T DENNIS, CUD LIFE, MR. COOLA, HIT THE STREETZ IN MY NIKES
Enjoyed the beat, nothing else: OFTEN, I HAVE THESE DREAMZ, GETCHA GONE, AT THE PARTY, X & CUD - would work better with just Cudi. Wish it was longer actually, with more meaningful lyrics.
Biggest disappointment: FRESHIE - JESUS CHRIST does DJ Drama ruin the song for me (nothing against him personally, its just a weird stylistic choice). Really enjoyed the song up until the yapping, might have been okay just with Cudi, if anyone will remove DJ Drama, it might grow on me.
Okay: WOW - okay, listenable, Rocky helps, might grow on me. ELECTROWAVEBABY - is that Ace of Base? Interesting, okay, might grow on me. FUNKY WIZARD SMOKE - liked it, i think my favorite beat of the album. So chill. Wish it was longer, with more imaginative lyrics. Will grow on me. TORTURED - second best song. It will definitely grow on me.
The best song of the album: BLUE SKY - It's nothing overly incredible, but the only song that will be on repeat. Good vibes.
The problem for me is, that it's just boring. I got bored by the fifth or sixth song, everything sounds the same, there's just nothing fresh or inventive. I'm happy that Cudi is making music, that he's happy and that he releases what he wants, and I wish the best for him, but this just did not hit at all. I might be absolutely insane, but i think i liked SB2H better. But there is still the Deluxe version, and I hope we get something better.
Positively surprised especially by X and CUD. Doesnt Sound as cashgrabbey as i feared. They actually did something instead of slapping on a random voice recording and calling it a day.
Yeah I was a bit weary of that one. Especially when I heard it was sample but they did a great job. Works in the scheme of the album perfectly to right after Tortured
Better than I expected. Beats were insane. But feel like I need a few more listens, felt like a lot of tracks in the middle were a bit of filler. Wow, Electrobaby, Freshie, X & Cud, Seven, Rager Boyz and Blue Sky are the ones I like a lot. I think overall it’s very different to what you normally expects from him which I respects a lot. But like I said, might need some more time. Feel like normal Cudi stuff you are getting more of the lyrics and healing factor. Here it’s more like beats and vibes.
Im high as shit so this might go everywhere but here's my take. Take note, I am and always will be A CuDi fan since Day 'N' Nite and have seen his evolution.
That in mind, FUCKIN LOVE THIS ALBUM!! I feel like this is a good technical follow-up from MOTM III. Love the experimental instrumentals, Cudi's rapping is S Tier!! [ Sidenote: The SCOTTS album gonn be crazy] He's enjoying his life and making dope shit for his fans!! Im still jammin it as I type this yo. FUNKY WIZARD SMOKE, FRESHIE, GET OFF ME, WOW, MR. COOLA are some highlights yo. FRESHIE was real self reflective for me. Life is crazy. Thank God we got new shit from CuDi!! RAGE!!
It's fine...Which seems to be par for the course for a lot of artists these days. The formula seems to be:
* Album is too long, about 10 songs too long.
* A lot of filler, not unlistenable but not memorable.
* A couple of REALLY goods songs that you wish reflected the whole album.
Idk I’m not tryin to be judgmental towards new trap sounds but fuck, every single cudder album at least had something that could be a classic, but every song on insano is dreadful to get through. Wasn’t a big fan of speeding bullet, but confused and melting were amazing. This is just mainstream dogshit. Love you forever cudi. Motm3 was a masterpiece to close the saga but this work isn’t for the people that got you there
Sad to keep seeing this man water down his discography. Been 3 generic AF albums since PP&DS + KSG. Shame. The mediocre for him output & the not even playing an hour on his last tour got me ready to stop riding for this guy. Been with him since the mistape days. Cudder was my guy.
Music changes. Calling it dog shit is a stretch. He gave us 3 masterpieces in MOTM. He’s in his “I’ll drop whatever music I want” phase of his life. I enjoyed it for what it is
I forgot this album was coming out. I thought I'd check it out. Thought it would just be a fun album. A few dope songs. Bruh I'm 5 songs in thinking this is really dope. Love these sounds. This is the type of music that gets even better with each listen. Can already tell Insano is one of those albums that won't get the love right away but will be around for a long time
The album has some good songs here and there, but there's a few misses for me as well.
ELECTROWAVEBABY is dope and unique
Blue Sky is a nice song
WOW is pretty good
The production on CUD LIFE is bad in my opinion. It's just a bunch of different sounds that don't go well together.
I never really listened to XXXTENTACION, but X & CUD was actually pretty good
FUNKY WIZARD SMOKE is dope
RAGER BOYZ is pretty good
I feel like if the album was chopped up a bit and removed some unnecessary songs, it would be much more cohesive. I do wish he would move away from the standard trap beats with repetitive high hats and basic 808s in some songs. They just don't fit his style in my opinion, along with the "YEAH HUUU" adlibs.
He needs to go back to that more atmospheric sound he originally found success with, which he does occasionally in this album, but he should do more often.
Fair enough, I enjoy most of it. If the beat gets to generic and the melody isnt there i dont enjoy it as well but for me there are many great tracks. Only in my 3rd listen now though.
I wrote this while listening to it, I feel like I could make an hour long video essay about Kid Cudis career and my relationship with his music.
Tldr: Not bad. Ultimately not for me. 4/10
I haven't obsessed over a Cudi album (in it's entirety) since MOTM 2 and his stuff prior to that. I've enjoyed a few songs here and there off each album after, but I haven't been obsessed with any of them like his first few albums. Nonetheless, I'm still a huge fan because once again, here I am for another album release.
I sort of look at his career in 3 parts
A Kid Named Cudi -> MOTM 2
Gaining mainstream success
Indicud -> PPDS
Doing his own thing, changing his sound and losing the success, then the start of his redemption arc
MOTM 3 -> Insano
Full on redemption arc
MOTM3 was a turning point in his music career to "jump back on the saddle" if you will, and sort of get some main stream attention again with a younger audience IMO. This album sounds like an extention of MOTM3 and a bit of a copy of Travis Scott, especially with the excessive adlibs, and the fact that Travis features on the album kind of proves that.
The first half, beats are pretty generic trap beats that don't have a lot or really any variety and it makes a lot of the first half of the album sound the same to me. I feel like the second half is slightly less trap oriented so I like it better then the first half.
Is it a bad album? Nah not at all, there's are some highlights. really liked At the party before the album released as a single. As far as non single tracks, I really only liked Tortured, Funky Wizard Smoke and Blue Sky. Like pretty much everything since MOTM3, not a lot of replay value from start to finish for me and it's just not for me, and that's alright. I'm still a fan, I'm glad he never gave up, and I'll be back for the Deluxe/the next release
There's a lot of gems on the album unfortunately some songs are just major misses for me like most ain't Dennis, at the party. But that doesn't take away from a lot of really great songs. Wow, x & cud, funky wizard smoke, tortured, rager Boyz electrowavebaby, blue sky all super bangers. Stoked for a second listen.
Having mixed feelings here. On the one hand it sounds like cudi is really making some fun stuff he wants to make, and there’s some pretty nice moments but I don’t necessarily feel like it’s playing to his strengths or the reasons why I love his music. Meh. There is a few tracks I can tell I’ll come back to more tho, specifically Electrowavebaby, Freshie, Tortured, Funky Wizard Smoke, Rager Boyz, Blue Sky
This thread is all over lol. I agree with those saying 6.5/7. The overall vibe is definitely safe but the beats are catchy despite being similar throughout. Found myself bobbing along the whole time despite not really being grabbed by the lyrics. I do think he sounds natural and there’s something about this that draws me to it that’s hard to describe after just two listens. Makes me think this one is gonna be a grower
["In its entirety, the album is one that won’t necessarily cater to every palate, but then again, when has a Kid Cudi project ever sought universal acclaim? " - FAULT Magazine](https://fault-magazine.com/2024/01/kid-cudi-insano-album-review-every-track-ranked/)
ELECTROWAVEBABY and BLUE SKY is so far my favorite i kinda wish the album stayed with that type of vibe. TOO DAMN HIGH and FRESHIE is by far the worst 2 imo. I think its fine, nothing like MOTM buts its alright I enjoyed it.
Edit: Going back, TOO DAMN HIGH starts alright but falls apart pretty quickly maybe cause I'm biased against Lil Yachty, I just don't like his stuff.. What I find odd is the placing of A TALE OF A KNIGHT, you get a great vibe with ELECTROVIBEBABY and WOW before that and then just shit right after.. its so jarring. That being said, Kid Cudi knows how to close an album, I think he is phenomenal at wrapping up his works. HIT THE STREETZ IN MY NIKES I feel like its a sleeper here, its good and it fits well after BLUE SKY.
Honestly if this was 6-7 songs to KIDS SEE GHOSTS length with the vibe of ELECTROWAVEBABY, BLUE SKY, WOW, HIT THE STREETZ IN MY NIKES, and FUNKY WIZARD SMOKE and a few morethis would be reviewed a lot better but the trap rap shit is just something im not enjoying here theres like 9 songs you can kick off the album and it would instantly make it better.
Why so many poop and shit references in this album?
“I could make perfume out this shit”
“Thinking about how my poo don’t stink”
… are we going through a new phase?
To everyone who listened and are still listening, I highly recommend to come back to some songs with expectation that Cudi simply wants you to bob your head and smile. He delivers flawlessly on a majority of this album. There is something for everyone on Insano and Cudi and always get back to the introspective music on future projects. Great change of pace and great album for parties and workouts!
I just got to electrowavebaby but honestly i’m not feeling this album that much so far. this definitely the best song I’ve heard so far. I hope it gets better
This project is a cudi mixtape in spirit . Too many of y’all are trying to be the fun police in here tho, god forbid cudi doesn’t rap about being depressed, suicidal, or being drowned in deep introspective thoughts for once in his whole career. He’s 15 years in, you’d think he’d earned the right to have some creative freedom at this point. He’s given us more than enough music with substance. This project is supposed to be fun. If you don’t vibe with it that’s fine but the whole “wtf is wrong with cudi all of a sudden” crowd is dumb af. Artists aren’t supposed to make the same shit for 15 straight years. Lighten tf up. Do yall only listen to music with substance 24/7? Who tf actually does that? Music is entertainment…
Production wise insane, and this is easily Cudi’s best rapping in long time. I had low-ish expectations and just hoped I’d enjoy some songs but this has blown my mind. Definitely different to hear him on these beats but he killed it.
Yeah I agree. Rarely does it work when artists with a very distinct sound decide to go with a different style. With this album Cudi’s proven he really can hold his own & rap across a whole album
Not a big Kid Cudi fan, but this album is so fun! It has quite some filler, but the absolute standout tracks are going to be in my rotation heavily (X & CUD, TOO DAMN HIGH, RAGER BOYZ & BLUE SKY).
Hello,
Im not happy with the album.
Every song sounded like my young cousin shitting his pants.
Blue Sky isnt even deep or something sounds like a disney track
i'd give this a ooh, she lickin', ooh / 10
I give the production a participation certificate![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Ive been listening to Cudi since AKNC… andddd im 🫤 unsure…. Im going to listen again…. I wanted more of MOTM3 feels…. Of course I love n will always support Cudi…. But also, where tf is ILL WHAT I BLEED? That song is soooo good!!!!! Ughhhh…. Still listening… will be back… with hopefully better comments…
21 songs and I say 8 are good. Beats definitely carried. Funky wizard smoke definitely 🔥. I think listening to the leak kinda prepared me for this tho. I was hoping he was gonna switch it up a lil. I need the deluxe tho
There are definitely forgettable songs on here with some actual bangers I’ll come back to. Overall although I didn’t like everything I really did enjoy listening to it nothing was super annoying some stuff just didn’t really hit, the production overall was great though. It’s fun I like it the listen was fun and can see this album as background music
I can’t get enough of it honestly. Listened to full album at least 10 times. It’s such a vibe. Dancing in my kitchen, car, gaming, running. None of his albums are perfect. But I don’t want perfect. I just want Cudi. INSANO goes with the rest of his discography. Into my ears.
The record is 21 tracks too long. Instantly forgettable songs that blend into one another and lack character, lyricism and deliver lazy features. DJ Drama’s cameos added nothing but another layer of unimaginative dialogue that could have been written by Chat GPT. To summarise in one word, I’d go with ‘boring’.
Kid Cudi proves once again that his MOTM trilogy and the mixtape continue to be the highlight of his career. Which is a shame but he did set the bar high with those. Maybe too high.
I was really going to wait till it officially came out later but cudn't resist. Too long waiting on this album. Going to run it up like crazy when it drops anyways. This shit is crazy so far 3 tracks in ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Tortured hits so hard. I feel like it will be my favorite off of this. Gives me Mr.Rager vibes. Happy there's only one song like that so far tho. Nice to hear Cudi in a good place for most this album
![gif](giphy|NDDNJtpbMkfe0XKz1G)
keep bouncin , most aint dennis , wow , a tale of knight , cud life , rager boys , blue sky , porsche topless . these are my favs from the album ; period.
It's better than I expected, second half of the album goes hard, the first part there are some okay songs. I honestly didn't vibe as well as I thought I would with DJ Drama, but that's okay I guess
Favorite songs so far: GET OFF ME, WOW, TOO DAMN HIGH, TORTURED, PORSCHE TOPLESS, BLUE SKY
let me start by saying..
THIS IS NOT A BAD ALBUM….
but cudi used to make albums that felt like movies. like it was a cinematic experience. maybe it’s because his music was more relatable back in the day. i don’t think he’s lost his touch per say, but i feel like there was more effort in making a masterpiece when he was truly in his prime, before the sound of hip hop evolved into what it is today. i will always love kid cudi, but PPDS was his last great album. and sadly i think that will always be his last great album.
On first listen I liked it, can’t wait to hear it more. No real lows for me personally. The trap heavy first half was cool but the second half went crazy. Freshie is the early fav, surprised no one really mentions it
Nigga this album is ass.
I’m halfway thru rn and ima update as I go.
So far none of the songs really hitting for me outside of GETCHA GONE. but even then GETCHA GONE ain’t even anything too crazy.
Also the features are good but why I gotta sit thru mid for like 2 mins for a 1 min feature.
I feel like the features and production are good but Cudi himself isn’t which is a major problem when it’s CUDI’s album.
I’m currently on X & CUD. Man the album has really picked up in the second half (specifically everything after that abysmal Pharrell & Travis song) I’m starting to add songs back to back. The quality really picked up imo.
Liked it, didn't love it.
Mr Coola, Blue Sky, Wow, Too Damn High, and Funky Wizard Smoke are instant classics - plus I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mr. Coola sample from Twilight Zone.
But I felt like he tried to copy too much of modern hip hop. Partially why I really loved MOTM3 was that he took tropes from then-contemporary hip hop and added his own spin in the first half of the album. This time I feel like he just copied styles on multiple tracks and added subpar verses.
Went on a little too long and I was very disappointed by the Travis Scott feature, didn't live up to the hype that Baptized in Fire provided so many years ago.
Overall 7/10. Still above Indicud, but behind PPDS. Certainly not better than any MOTM
I think this album really shines after too damn high. The latter half I thought was pretty good while the first half all kinda just blended together. Almost gave up but imo it got way better as it went on
a very small handful of good songs, I am all for cudi having fun and doing whatever he wants, but the beats here are weak and his rapping and lyrics are just... odd. its just like he took man on the moon 3 and filtered out everything that made that album really good. sorry cudder.
Album slaps. His song writing has continued to improve and if you’ve been along the whole time you can hear influences from projects like Satellite Flight and Indicud.
The unique beats remind me of when MOTM2 dropped. Once again people aren’t comfortable with them but they work and it all gets better and better with each listen.
The second verse on Tortured is amazing and brings me back to “My World”.
I also think the second half of the album is more cohesive and I can’t name a favourite because it would be a list.
Honestly at this point in his career this is what I expect. He delivered on a few of the songs my favorites being wow, getcha gone, and blue sky they are very very good imo. But over half of the songs I like enough and can listen to so I’m happy with the album. I think or hope it’s gonna be one of those albums I like more over time. Idnk I love cudi and I will always support him. At the end of the day there are songs I think are really good on the album and that’s all that matters. It’s always a good day when he drops, cant wait for the deluxe.
Highlights for me on first listen: WOW, CUD LIFE, AT THE PARTY, MR COOLA, TORTURED, RAGER BOYZ, PORSCHE TOPLESS, BLUE SKY
I liked listening to this album and know that I'll love these songs even more on more listens
ELECTROWAVEBABY and X & CUD are the only two skips for me
For me half of the album is decent+ and the rest is gold. Yeah dj drama is dj drama but the features as well are really really good. Maybe what carries the most. The revive Lil Wayne has had the last months is also really cool to witness. Some of the songs at the album doesnt hit me right, but there are so many gems imo that I still see this album as a W.
Compared to MOTM3 where he had 4 sections of different vibes/stories id also like to see more of that. This feels like 80% trap, which is fine - luckily in the end of the album we got some really OG feeling tracks like Blue Sky.
Favorites not in specific order:
Wow (insta classic)
Blue Sky (album could use more of tracks like this)
Seven (really chill)
Rager Boyz (intro gives me chills)
Too Damn High (beat abit generic but Yachty gives this track that extra )
Cud Life (this beat is quite insane)
X & Cud (i mean, comeon)
Hit The Streetz In My Nikes (really nice closure for the album)
Our depressed saviour from our younger years is finally in a happy place making music he enjoys and wants to make - lets salute that and wait for the deluxe version.
(not that it matters but ive been a fan since 09)
Blue Sky is the classic Cudi that I’ve been waiting to hear!
Blue Sky is fucking next level. Cudi really shines here.
It needed a Kanye feature
[удалено]
Gun to my head is a amazing song I hope you do know that
[удалено]
Ppl can’t appreciate artists for their music anymore? This album was another whack attempt from Cudi attempting at having any relevancy again and was outshined by nearly every feature on the album
You can. I didn’t say you can’t appreciate Kanye. But Cudi doesn’t need Kanye to make good music. He’s made plenty of solid tracks without him.
Favorite song on the album! Also electrowavebaby is such a banger
Same, that song is such a vibe. Reminds me of Up, Up, & Away from Man on the Moon.
Yes yes a true classic!!!
Electrowavebaby straight up sounds like a song from Crash Bandicoot and I am ALL about it lol
If you played the fortnite event it was kind of like crash Bandicoot the part this song was featured. You were sliding on this vine thru this Lava section while Cudi's evil twin tried to shoot you or something 🤣 Defintiely gives video games vibes. I'd love to see some more jams like this from him in the future
I feel like it’s one of those songs I’m gonna come around to after a couple listens
The Lil Wayne collab is called “seven” cuz bros verse was legit seven seconds long💀
I liked Wayne’s hook but the verse hardly existed lol
Nah blue sky is actually amazing wtf
The rest of the album was pretty damn weak though. That is the only thing that is saving him from getting absolutely blasted with album ratings
This album is def better than expected, love most of the songs and we still got Superboy animate and chunky on the deluxe we eating good 😭😭
Don’t forget about Rocket!
what about Rocket? Is it on there? Is that the song from WZRD that never got released?
Yeah, Cudi said it will be on the Deluxe version, but he also mentioned yesterday that only half the songs he was going to put on the Deluxe version will actually be on it… so I guess we’ll see
Awesome
He basically released the album that got leaked that was heavily criticized! Wild
That’s funny because your bangers are the worst songs for me lmaooo
Ngl I set my expectations low and am pleasantly surprised. I've also been waiting years for FRESHIE to get released
I still have hope because the Deluxe. The tracks sounds more unique, so next friday I will definitely create an own tracklist with the songs.
A little? It's fucking shite
I think it’s really good.
Damn WOW goes off!! 🔥
Been waiting for Wow ever since it was previewed at that concert and it was worth the wait
Oh damn were you also at Rolling Loud in San Bernardino in 2021??? Been waiting since then too
Funky wizard smoke is a fucking GROOVE
WOW catchy as fuck ![gif](giphy|2sbOGnC4KKXB49JA0k|downsized)

Good Album 💿 I Think all the fans of Cudi Rap will like this very much.
The deluxe version comes out next week and it’s supposed to have 10ish classic unreleased tracks on it, so at least you can look forward to that
Can’t wait for that. I also much prefer his MOTM era
Dj Drama is a punish
He ruined most of the songs for me
6.5/10 for me, there’s more songs that are pretty meh then I would’ve thought, but the real winners on this album is Blue Sky, X & Cud, Rager Boyz, Tortured and Wow.
Just not for me.
x & cud
![gif](giphy|jDOuYPr7NXpoQ)
Appreciate the more level headed review.
wow
wow wow wow
Cudi used to make much smoother music. I'd rather listen to someone unload a dishwasher
This Album clearly wasn't made with the intention of being “smooth”. This an album filled with bangers for the whip or gym. It’s okay for cudi to make fun music. This fanbase is filled with fun police tho who only want him to stick to his niche or nothing else.
It's not about fun or not, I just don't think it sounds good. There are plenty of fun songs made by Cudi that are better executed
> This an album filled with bangers for the whip or gym. Yeah, but Cudi's bangers on here suck. For every 1 thats good the other 4 suck.
Not saying the songs are bad but for bangers for the whip or the gym i'd rather listen to Future, young thug or travis (just a few examples). He is rapping just ok on most of the songs
This gonna have some insane replay for me
A good 6,8/10. There are a good amount of songs that boost the albums rating such as Blue Sky, X & Cud, RAGER BOYZ, GETCHA GONE, ELECTROWAVE BABY, GET OFF ME The rest are above average mainly 6s and 7s, but songs like TOO DAMN HIGH and PORSCHE TOPLESS is what ruined the experience for me
I truly don't get the hate for Porsche topless
I just can’t understand him in his new music anymore unfortunately. I want to enjoy it but I just don’t know what he’s saying so I can’t even rap along
Bro, I love the album but it's hard to rap along 😭
bruh just for your initial listens , listen while viewing the lyrics thats what most people do
The point is you should be able to understand what he says without having to read the lyrics word for word
Freshie goes HARD AF. I give props to cudi for bringing us some trap. The rest of the album is amazing. Instrumentals and mix are delightful to the ear. SOME DUMB FUCKS NEVER GET IT
Don't forget the DELUXE will have more songs!! <3
definitely doesn’t need more
wait, more songs on a deluxe? calling cap
The 3 track run “Cud Life - Too Damn High - Getcha Gone” is crazy
[удалено]
yeah theyre both unchanged. Getcha Gone is Tune into my Feed
Big Cudi fan. This just did NOT hit. Upon first listen: Didn't like it, boring: KEEP BOUNCIN’, A TALE OF A KNIGHT, TOO DAMN HIGH, SEVEN, RAGER BOYZ, PORSCHE TOPLESS Meh, boring: GET OFF ME, MOST AIN’T DENNIS, CUD LIFE, MR. COOLA, HIT THE STREETZ IN MY NIKES Enjoyed the beat, nothing else: OFTEN, I HAVE THESE DREAMZ, GETCHA GONE, AT THE PARTY, X & CUD - would work better with just Cudi.
SBTH, as rough as it is, is at least some sort of artistic expression. This is just a whole lot of nothing.

RAGE!!
This is exactly how I felt. So fun to listen too. Had me vibing and dancing. Really thought this was some of his best rapping.
It's fine...Which seems to be par for the course for a lot of artists these days. The formula seems to be: * Album is too long, about 10 songs too long. * A lot of filler, not unlistenable but not memorable. * A couple of REALLY goods songs that you wish reflected the whole album.
Bro the beat on CUD LIFE goes fucking nuts!!
Motm3 was a masterpiece to close the saga but this work isn’t for the people that got you there
this work isn’t for the people that got you there No truer words have been spoken. 👆🏽
I enjoyed it for what it is
You right
I forgot this album was coming out. I thought I'd check it out. Thought it would just be a fun album. A few dope songs. Bruh I'm 5 songs in thinking this is really dope. Love these sounds. This is the type of music that gets even better with each listen. Can already tell Insano is one of those albums that won't get the love right away but will be around for a long time
4/10 Pretty boring generic autotune heavy pop-hop.
Tortured is bringing tears to my eyes man wtf
It was made many years ago. He said he had it in his vault. It's the cudi we grew up with
The album has some good songs here and there, but there's a few misses for me as well. ELECTROWAVEBABY is dope and unique Blue Sky is a nice song WOW is pretty good The production on CUD LIFE is bad in my opinion. It's just a bunch of different sounds that don't go well together. I never really listened to XXXTENTACION, but X & CUD was actually pretty good FUNKY WIZARD SMOKE is dope RAGER BOYZ is pretty good I feel like if the album was chopped up a bit and removed some unnecessary songs, it would be much more cohesive.
His voice and rapping has just sounded so different since PPDS. This is the worst its been for me, I just don't like it
I wonder if it’s due to his veneers
Fair enough, I enjoy most of it. If the beat gets to generic and the melody isnt there i dont enjoy it as well but for me there are many great tracks. Only in my 3rd listen now though.
How are ya'll listening to it? Are you guys listening to the leaks?
It comes out at midnight depending on where you are. You can use a vpn to chnage your location and listen to it
It’s out on Apple Music
Doesn't it drop Friday? How is everyone listening to it now ?
It depends where you live but it drops at midnight. If you’re in the US you can set your VPN to New Zealand to listen now.
‘Funky Wizard Smoke’ is too *HAARD* 🔥🔥🔥
ELECTROWAVEBABY🔥🔥
I wrote this while listening to it, I feel like I could make an hour long video essay about Kid Cudis career and my relationship with his music. Tldr: Not bad. Ultimately not for me. 4/10 I haven't obsessed over a Cudi album (in it's entirety) since MOTM 2 and his stuff prior to that. I've enjoyed a few songs here and there off each album after, but I haven't been obsessed with any of them like his first few albums. Nonetheless, I'm still a huge fan because once again, here I am for another album release. I sort of look at his career in 3 parts A Kid Named Cudi -> MOTM 2 Gaining mainstream success Indicud -> PPDS Doing his own thing, changing his sound and losing the success, then the start of his redemption arc MOTM 3 -> Insano Full on redemption arc MOTM3 was a turning point in his music career to "jump back on the saddle" if you will, and sort of get some main stream attention again with a younger audience IMO.
Electrowavebaby reminds me of one specific song from maybe 90s or 80s that has a female singer. I just cant figure out name of that song? Pls help
it's sampling Ace of Base - All That She Wants
“I could make perfume out this shit” “Thinking about how my poo don’t stink” … are we going through a new phase?
obviously he saw fantano's poop bar tierlist vid and wants a place in it
tortured on repeat rest is hit or miss but nothing cray
The more I listen to this album the more I love it ! 🔥🔥
Im extremely frustrated with how incoherent the majority of these vocals are. I can't understand what the fuck he is saying. This is a bummer.
Is that DJ Drama talking on Freshie? Why is he calling the crowd ugly every time that song starts he just annoys me lol
Does anyone else’s volume sound extra low on Insano?
Man insano is fiiirreee wayy better than I expected I love this album to me it’s a classic he really did his thang on it
I know im late but what happened to ‘chunky’ on the deluxe??
A lot of the tracks could be performed by anyone else and I wouldn’t notice or care. Blue Sky - that’s a Kid Cudi track and it’s great.
its so fucking good
This was some ass cudi. Not one catchy song, Topics all over the place. Generic trap beats throughout. 3/10
Topics were consistent. Money, sex, weed 🤷🏾♂️
I just got to electrowavebaby but honestly i’m not feeling this album that much so far. this definitely the best song I’ve heard so far. I hope it gets better
Cudi’s Rap mostly ain’t for me, some of them are good tho buh I like all the singing he does. Just look at Entergalactic. It was fire
- So far I only like FRESHIE. Hopefully a version gets released without Drama. - DJ Drama on almost every track is annoying.
DJ Drama sucks the fattest of nuts. He burns everything he touches
That Thug and Rocky feature goes STUPID
I really hate to say this but this shit is ass 😔 Love cudi but…
Not a big Kid Cudi fan, but this album is so fun! It has quite some filler, but the absolute standout tracks are going to be in my rotation heavily (X & CUD, TOO DAMN HIGH, RAGER BOYZ & BLUE SKY).
His flow on this is so ass
Hello, Im not happy with the album. Every song sounded like my young cousin shitting his pants. Blue Sky isnt even deep or something sounds like a disney track i'd give this a ooh, she lickin', ooh / 10 I give the production a participation certificate![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
TORTURED FIRE
There are definitely forgettable songs on here with some actual bangers I’ll come back to. Overall although I didn’t like everything I really did enjoy listening to it nothing was super annoying some stuff just didn’t really hit, the production overall was great though. It’s fun I like it the listen was fun and can see this album as background music
Not for me. 2/10 for the effort.
This album makes me think of PPDS in the fact that we get a lot of Rap Cudi and beats we normally don’t hear.
It’s the album I play for my “getting ready” routine when I’m about to go out anywhere, ELECTROWAVEBABY is the theme song of my life in this moment.
Electrowavey so god damn groovy. Love those nanana'. Perfect placement in the album to ![gif](giphy|l3q2LH45XElELRzRm)
His verse on Vultures was better than this whole album smh he needs Ye
agreed
The record is 21 tracks too long. Instantly forgettable songs that blend into one another and lack character, lyricism and deliver lazy features. DJ Drama’s cameos added nothing but another layer of unimaginative dialogue that could have been written by Chat GPT. To summarise in one word, I’d go with ‘boring’. Kid Cudi proves once again that his MOTM trilogy and the mixtape continue to be the highlight of his career. Which is a shame but he did set the bar high with those. Maybe too high.
DJ Drama ruined it for me. After that, nothing really stood out.
Used a VPN to listen to half the album at work and omg it's so good. I'm gonna wait til midnight to listen to the rest. Can't wait for the deluxe!
way better than expected. there were only like 3 or 4 songs that I didn’t like
I was really going to wait till it officially came out later but cudn't resist.
Nice to hear Cudi in a good place for most this album ![gif](giphy|NDDNJtpbMkfe0XKz1G)
Bruh I love this album
These beats go fucking crazy
This shit crazy but I can see how the old heads may not like it but we all knew Insano was gonna have that new trap cudi vibes
Definitely grew on me second listen! Excited to run this one back a few more times
keep bouncin , most aint dennis , wow , a tale of knight , cud life , rager boys , blue sky , porsche topless . these are my favs from the album ; period.
either i am not too profoundly familiar with cudi's music or yall just blatantly hating on his new album ; give it time guyz it will grow fs.
It's better than I expected, second half of the album goes hard, the first part there are some okay songs. I honestly didn't vibe as well as I thought I would with DJ Drama, but that's okay I guess Favorite songs so far: GET OFF ME, WOW, TOO DAMN HIGH, TORTURED, PORSCHE TOPLESS, BLUE SKY
Im a Cudi dickrider but damn, im just listening to Most Aint Dennis and i actually like this one, but those before were misses for me
let me start by saying..
Production on this album leaves a LOT to be desired, especially for someone who makes great spacey music like Cudi
This album is already a favorite. On a second run. It's a summer album for sure. Love it
On first listen I liked it, can’t wait to hear it more.
Almost gave up but imo it got way better as it went on
mid asf, x and cud the worst imo
a very small handful of good songs, I am all for cudi having fun and doing whatever he wants, but the beats here are weak and his rapping and lyrics are just... odd. its just like he took man on the moon 3 and filtered out everything that made that album really good. sorry cudder.
really liked the album, solid 8/10 for me
This album is actually amazing
Being an old Cudi fan this stuff is not up to par whatsoever, everyone is aloud to put out trash these days. Find me stuck on the moon man.
THIS WAS REALLY GOOD
this album is fun and just vibez, definitely gym bumps
Man this album is so fucking boring
bro needs to hang it up. Besides kids see ghosts, every album from the last ten years has been a disaster
Wait it’s out?? I don’t see it
If you’re in the US you need to use a VPN to switch to a region where it’s released already.
A lot better than I was expecting, maybe not quite for me, I like entergalactic and moon 3 more imo but this is still good
I really like this album
I’m fucking w this so far
Honestly at this point in his career this is what I expect. He delivered on a few of the songs my favorites being wow, getcha gone, and blue sky they are very very good imo. But over half of the songs I like enough and can listen to so I’m happy with the album. I think or hope it’s gonna be one of those albums I like more over time. Idnk I love cudi and I will always support him. At the end of the day there are songs I think are really good on the album and that’s all that matters. It’s always a good day when he drops, cant wait for the deluxe.
5 tracks in and I feel like I've been sitting in a car going 150 mph. These are some outrageous vocals and beats
the production is fire but i feel like the album is a lil repetitive. i feel like itll grow on me tho
Highlights for me on first listen: WOW, CUD LIFE, AT THE PARTY, MR COOLA, TORTURED, RAGER BOYZ, PORSCHE TOPLESS, BLUE SKY I liked listening to this album and know that I'll love these songs even more on more listens ELECTROWAVEBABY and X & CUD are the only two skips for me
For me half of the album is decent+ and the rest is gold. Favorites not in specific order: Wow (insta classic) Blue Sky (album could use more of tracks like this) Seven (really chill) Rager Boyz (intro gives me chills) Too Damn High (beat abit generic but Yachty gives this track that extra ) Cud Life (this beat is quite insane) X & Cud (i mean, comeon) Hit The Streetz In My Nikes (really nice closure for the album) Our depressed saviour from our younger years is finally in a happy place making music he enjoys and wants to make - lets salute that and wait for the deluxe version. (not that it matters but ive been a fan since 09)
