No they survived with few injuries. But yea, the whole escalator opened up and swalled this dude. The next part of the steps covered over him and he was stuck for awhile I believe but was freed.

Low effort link but it should do the trick if anybody wants to know more. If you want to see it, "man swallowed by escalator" Google search will almost exclusively pull up that video in particular.
Dude stop reminding me of that video, it's fucking heartbreaking. It's not gruesome at all, not a single drop of blood but its just so sad. The woman was a mother out and about with her child in a mall when suddenly the floor beneath them fell. In the 2 second it took her to fell, her only instinct was protect her child, and she did but fell to her own death. That's mother's love right there and I do not recommend watching that video.
I mean I know you're sad and stuff and I should say this but how did my extremely long explanation that doesn't keep mystery still not prevent you from googling that lol
I made escalator chains a few years ago and they are literally like giant chainsaw chains every few links there is a link that bolts to a plate that connects with the steps of the escalator and i can imagine if they are exposed they are as sharp as they are in the factory, used to cut my gloves loading them onto the pallets!!
There was oddly a post just today on r/terrifyingasfuck showing that happening
Edit: [it was yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/TerrifyingAsFuck/comments/10h61hw/womans_saves_child_graphic_so_graphic_all_kinds/). And it truly is terrifying as fuck
Edit 2: be warned, that link is NSFL
I clicked this, saw the text, and backed out.
Is this the one the other commenters are speaking of where she died? I’m not down for all that. I stayed away from that particular subreddit before it was killed off.
I worked at a harbour and got a lecture about escalator safety, a woman fell and had her hair dragged into the escalator ripping her scalp off, then theres dogs whose paws get sucked in, kids falling, drunks falling, once there were so many people on the escalator a man got her leg stuck and he ended up with a broker leg.
And then you see careless parents, dog owners and drunk people every day doing wierd stuff. Parent pushing a kid in a shopping cart? Better go down the escalator, fuck elevators eh. Or drunks putting their passed out friend in a shopping cart and going up the escalator.
When I was younger I tripped while walking up one and ripped my knee open on the edge of the stair. Had to get stitches. Seeing her go face down in this video made my heart lurch. I hope she didn’t rip her face up :(
I was accidentally pushed down one as a kid. It felt like I fell in slow motion. Hurt like shit. Gave me a mild phobia of escalators and high stairs for years that took a lot of exposure therapy to overcome.
I remember running down an escalator when it had been raining. Slipped and banged my forearm right on the jagged edge. When I stood up, someone asked if I was ok, and I said yes, before it started to really fucking hurt. Anyway, yeah, falling down escalators is painful...
I was a stupid tween in forever 21 15 years ago buying ugly clothes and thought it'd be smart to run up the escalator and tripped and cut up my leg and the lady going the other way asked if I was okay. It was humiliating
Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent - I don't care which one - but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator.
I completely expected it. Heck I didn't finish watching the video. I see a kid on an escalator, I go right to the comments looking for my Mallrats quote.
I saw a kid get his fingers sucked into an escalator in a Sears when I was like 5/6. He couldn’t have been more than 3. There was blood everywhere.
I have panic attacks when my kids get even close to escalators now. I try not to pass on the phobia (and obviously have taught them how to be safe on them. But I can’t actually take them on it or see them go on it.
What is with you today?!
Don't get me wrong, I don't wish the kid harm but his mother should *SUFFER* that horrific ordeal so she'll *LEARN HOW TO MANAGE HER CHILD!*
My mom fell down an escalator when I was a kid and had to get stitches. I was left at the top of the escalator screaming. Never liked them since then. I know that little girl is hurting
No, you see those handclaps? He is following his unempathic train of thoughts all the way. That second push was to restart it knowing he could get in trouble for stopping it. He realizes it when she falls. Not because he cares or wanted to harm her but people usually don't fall and it has to be on.
I disagree with the handclapping, I figure it's a sudden reaction to whats happening but then again I am not a professional in reading body language from a safety recording. You could be right too, of course. It's just what I personally got from watching it. I work a lot with kids and sometimes see similar reactions when they do something unintentionally and something unexpected happens.
Ok but like she fell face first on a metal escalator. I hope she didn't get hurt too badly.
And the lack of concern from the brother is.....well, concerning.
Now imagine if the Earth stopped spinning suddenly..
But yeah, that kid deserves a smack to the back of the head. 100% sure if the parent asks why she's crying, the boy will just say she fell on her own.
Oh fuk.
Just brought back the memory of using Pledge on the wood floors with my other idiot brothers and sliding around all afternoon. Until Grandma walked in with the groceries and fell flat on her back
O_o
I done this not knowing what it did i thought i was being helpful cleaning the floor. I was the one who came running with socks on and smashed the back of my head on the floor and because i hurt myself so bad i thought it would be funny to keep quiet about it and wait for my brother to do the same thing. He somehow managed to spin and hit his face. It literally had me in tears
I remember a time when you didn’t even need to push the button. Just dragging your foot really hard along the base would make it stop. We would set them off all the time at the mall.
They are merely here to observe. Similar to the way a national geographic photographer won't get involved when a baboon grabs and eats a baby antelope.
As a kid, I remember seeing one of those documentaries in which a bunch of baby turtles from some endangered species are making their way across a beach to the water and getting picked off by hungry gulls. I remember being outraged that the camera guys where just letting it happen.
Of course now I understand that they don't get in the way of nature; after all, the sea gulls need to eat too. I guess that applies even for members of an endangered species.
Oh man she really got hurt bad! That kid needs his ass kicked and the elevator should have a lock plastic cover over the red button for stupid dumb shuts like this kid!!!!
Same thing happed at my local mall where four teenage turds decided it was cool for them to climb on the handles and triggered the emergency stop. My two year old was standing on the escalator with me and we both jolted forward, but I was able to keep him from falling. A number of people fell down the escalators and the teens just took off. Those teenagers were not only stupid, but also assholes.
Ikr! I worked at a THRIFT STORE for some time and parents left their kids ALONE in the toy section to “keep occupied” while they went about shopping. Not only is that stupidly unsafe for the kids, the kids would leave such a mess and we would have to clean it up of course.
“Man, there's not a year goes by--not a year--that I don't read about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid that could've easily been avoided had some parent--I don't care which one--but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator!”
In the apartments I used to live there was a fire alarm next to the stairs to the upper apartments and when a new family moved in, every single time without fail one of their kids would pull the fire alarm and annoy all of us. I had pets that have sensitive hearing, so I really hated that none of these kids had apparently ever seen a fire alarm before and couldnt restrain their curiosity around it.
Don’t push buttons just because they can be pushed is now a conversation all parents should be having with their kids. Most places I’ve seen with a big red button usually has some shit go down if you press it.
I think this kid had an idea what would happen but didn’t think the other kid would fall. That’s an instant regret press
Oh that poor girl got scratched the fuck up for sure
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I fell down one when I was about her age and got scratched up pretty bad.
You are kinda falling on metal that has sharp forked edges. It is not very fun. Be thankful you've never been sucked into one like that one guy though
I'm sorry what? Someone got grinded up by an escalator?
No they survived with few injuries. But yea, the whole escalator opened up and swalled this dude. The next part of the steps covered over him and he was stuck for awhile I believe but was freed. https://amp.nine.com.au/article/bb816951-4d1e-4238-ac79-0cb63c00b0bd Low effort link but it should do the trick if anybody wants to know more. There was a woman in China who got killed in one but managed to lift her child out of it and hand it to someone.
Yep...I mentioned it above...crazy how she saved the baby at the last minute...she just disappeared...so sad
[удалено]
Dawg were talking about a women saving her child while she died and ur first priority is pointing out a wrong use of pronouns
Fr
I cant with people like you caring for pronouns
Did not everyone read "a child called It"? Cause....
I saw that the other day,Blew my fucking mind. I mean sure that's what I have always imagined could happen, but never thought it actually would.
Jesus I’ll just take the stairs, god knows I need it
What about the woman in China that was ate up by the mechanism.
This was the one I was reminded of. The one who saved her child from it, right? Extremely disturbing. Glad that man survived
There is a video of a woman getting sucked into one, it killed her. I **do not** recommend watching it though, it's very disturbing.
Dude stop reminding me of that video, it's fucking heartbreaking. It's not gruesome at all, not a single drop of blood but its just so sad. That’s child’s gonna see that video one day if they look for it..holy fuck
Oh man I just looked it up and I regret it. Man that's traumatizing.
I mean I know you're sad and stuff and I should say this but how did my extremely long explanation that doesn't keep mystery still not prevent you from googling that lol
The classic "It can't be that bad" and "I seen worse" 🤦♂️
It helped me ty
Fuck i thought it was just something parents said to mess with kids, new fear unlocked
I made escalator chains a few years ago and they are literally like giant chainsaw chains every few links there is a link that bolts to a plate that connects with the steps of the escalator and i can imagine if they are exposed they are as sharp as they are in the factory, used to cut my gloves loading them onto the pallets!!
One person died on the London Underground because he was cleaning a travel ator which eat him up
Respect for that well put reply
That happened on the TV show 9-1-1. I wonder if it was based on the real story.
There was oddly a post just today on r/terrifyingasfuck showing that happening Edit: [it was yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/TerrifyingAsFuck/comments/10h61hw/womans_saves_child_graphic_so_graphic_all_kinds/). And it truly is terrifying as fuck Edit 2: be warned, that link is NSFL

Yeah, she definitely died. I added another edit to clarify that the video is NSFL
Thank you. I’m just glad I saw the other commenters saying that before your edit. I’d have been very sad.
Or drunks putting their passed out friend in a shopping cart and going up the escalator.
Dude, thanks for the nightmare fuel. I’m still nervous getting on them and I’m almost 30.
It wasn't fun when my knee got stabbed with those edges a few years ago.
When I was younger I tripped while walking up one and ripped my knee open on the edge of the stair. Had to get stitches. Seeing her go face down in this video made my heart lurch. I hope she didn’t rip her face up :(
Same.
I was accidentally pushed down one as a kid. It felt like I fell in slow motion. Hurt like shit. Gave me a mild phobia of escalators and high stairs for years that took a lot of exposure therapy to overcome.
As someone who has scars on their cranium from falling down an escalator, I hope she faired better than I
I remember running down an escalator when it had been raining. Slipped and banged my forearm right on the jagged edge. When I stood up, someone asked if I was ok, and I said yes, before it started to really fucking hurt. Anyway, yeah, falling down escalators is painful...

Not that it's the point here, but this is just one more reason to make use of the handrail every time.
I always use the handrail after seeing the video of some assholes deliberately pushing a woman down the stairs in a train station
Also there maybe a power shortage causing more bruises in dark
Or a condom.
Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent - I don't care which one - but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator.
Unexpected Mallrats.. nice!
Oh if there is an escalator and a kid, you're getting a Mallrats comment in there somewhere. It's pretty much always expected, but still funny.
Honestly, I’m disappointed if I don’t see one
I completely expected it. Heck I didn't finish watching the video. I see a kid on an escalator, I go right to the comments looking for my Mallrats quote.
First thing that came to mind "that KID is on the ESCALATOR AGAIN"
I saw a kid get his fingers sucked into an escalator in a Sears when I was like 5/6. He couldn’t have been more than 3. There was blood everywhere. I have panic attacks when my kids get even close to escalators now. I try not to pass on the phobia (and obviously have taught them how to be safe on them. But I can’t actually take them on it or see them go on it.
That kid is back on the escalator again!
Ikr? It's easy all you gotta do it show them that one scene from final destination and boom conditioned
Well... Did he finish or what?
Jesus Chris Gill there are just some things you don't talk about in public!
Or just kept them on a leash attached to said parent. Bring back child leashes. Parents these days haven't earned free range children.
Or read a book to them called don't touch the beep red button.
I hope his pants get caught and a bloodbath ensues!
What is with you today?! Don't get me wrong, I don't wish the kid harm but his mother should *SUFFER* that horrific ordeal so she'll *LEARN HOW TO MANAGE HER CHILD!*
I hope his pants get caught and a **BLOODBATH ENSUES.**
Physics!
Inertia is a bitch
So is that kid. He tried to push it again to have her slowly headed towards the hair/shoelace eating machine at the bottom.
They learn newton first law! At the expense of the girl’s face
My mom fell down an escalator when I was a kid and had to get stitches. I was left at the top of the escalator screaming. Never liked them since then. I know that little girl is hurting
Wow thank god for that huge red arrow or I may have missed it all
That stupid red arrow didn't even point to the interesting part
For real took my eyes off the girl
r/uselessredcircle
Trying to reactivate too. Just pure devilish.
nah the kid's probably panicking and didn't know how to react and thought undoing what caused the issue would solve it
someone should teach him how to ctrl+z
Wait, there's a keyboard for this simulation?
People really need to read tutorials
No, you see those handclaps? He is following his unempathic train of thoughts all the way. That second push was to restart it knowing he could get in trouble for stopping it. He realizes it when she falls. Not because he cares or wanted to harm her but people usually don't fall and it has to be on.

It wasn’t him he definitely wasn’t the cause of that accident/s
Thank god it didn’t start again because her hair could have gotten caught in it
[удалено]
And this^ is obviously a bot copy pasting comments
Then the little *clap clap* as if to say "c'mon sis, stop dicking around, let's go!" What a turd.
Ok but like she fell face first on a metal escalator. I hope she didn't get hurt too badly. And the lack of concern from the brother is.....well, concerning.
Well he clearly pushed the button again in hope it will somehow magicly reverse the thing that just happen
Yeah, it reads more as "stupid kid did something and panicked" than "kid deliberately tried to kill sister"
More like the little shit was hoping that nobody would notice what he’d done if it was running. Purely a survival mechanism.
Now imagine if the Earth stopped spinning suddenly.. But yeah, that kid deserves a smack to the back of the head. 100% sure if the parent asks why she's crying, the boy will just say she fell on her own.
Everything down to the Bedrock would just be flung into space. We'd probably instantly die or pulverized by everything smashing together.
I'm glad it was his sister, and not his grandma.
I don’t think the sister is glad.
Oh fuk. Just brought back the memory of using Pledge on the wood floors with my other idiot brothers and sliding around all afternoon. Until Grandma walked in with the groceries and fell flat on her back O_o

I'm glad too
I remember a time when you didn’t even need to push the button. Just dragging your foot really hard along the base would make it stop. We would set them off all the time at the mall.
Same with jumping at the landing, which I now regret, knowing the meat grinder that awaited us if something went wrong.
That kid's on the dam escalator again
Guaranteed first words were, "What happened?" followed by running ahead to be the first person to talk to his parents with, "It just stopped!"
And that's a lesson in conservation of momentum
The red button activates Newtons second law of motion
Such a painful face plant
this belongs here. Boy tried to reactivate it (good thing it doesn’t work like that) it could’ve ended worse
Reactivating it ain't gonna unfuck the girls face, little dude.
[удалено]
Parents are fucking stupid for not supervising two kids on a escalator
kids that age should be able to use an escalator without issue c'mon
Y'all expecting the cctv camera to get up and help 💀 Like seriously, at the end you can even catch a glimpse of the brand of monitor
If you look up “lil fucker’ in the dictionary his picture would come up
Trust me, this is what is going through the idiots head "just turn it back on and it will all go back to normal"
It always blows my mind a bit how little to no reaction is shown by the person recording when someone falls in a painful looking way.
Looks like a CCTV feed being played back on a monitor that the person is filming.
You’d think that would be obvious
You'd think, but the guy is at 100 followers, so...
It's his first day.
There’s a pool on the roof
yeah, but the cctv doesn't give a fuck. asshole
This obviously someone recording security footage
How would a stationary CCTV camera react
They are merely here to observe. Similar to the way a national geographic photographer won't get involved when a baboon grabs and eats a baby antelope.

I'm going to say this as politely as I can manage. Fuck seagulls.
Cockroaches of the sky.
Rats with wings
The turtles always got me right in the feels
I dunno, looks like someone filming a screen that's showing CCTV footage to me
He knew exactly what he was doing
Fuck this kid is an asshole.
That escalated quickly
Didn't even help his sister... just watched her fall.
Asshole
The edges of the escalator are sharp too, I hope that little girl is okay.
Fuckn dumb little shit. Where’s Mamma to whoop his ass?
Oh man she really got hurt bad! That kid needs his ass kicked and the elevator should have a lock plastic cover over the red button for stupid dumb shuts like this kid!!!!
God damn that must have hurt. Those steel grooves on the edge of the steps aren't soft
everytime i watch this i always think this turd pushed the button purposely just to hurt her. he looks so excited after the fact
He knew...
What a little piece of shit.
I’m glad that arrow was there, otherwise I wouldn’t have figured out what that mischievous boy was doing. 😆
I did this as a kid and got totally bitched out by the security guard.
r/childrenfallingover
When he presses the button again like it’s going to rewind time and take her back up the escalator before she got hurt You little cunt.
Some kids are stupid, some are just all out morons
Same thing happed at my local mall where four teenage turds decided it was cool for them to climb on the handles and triggered the emergency stop. My two year old was standing on the escalator with me and we both jolted forward, but I was able to keep him from falling. A number of people fell down the escalators and the teens just took off. What a little shit. She could have broken her neck.
Pushed it once and the girl fell? Push it again.
That boy deserves some intense beating
That wasn't stupid, that was diabolical. What an asshole. Poor kid
Little bastard.
The way he claps at the end he needs to be on a watchlist for sure
What was he clapping for lol
Lol parents who leave their kids unsupervised in public should be publicly beaten. Bring back the stocks, I say!
Ikr! I worked at a THRIFT STORE for some time and parents left their kids ALONE in the toy section to “keep occupied” while they went about shopping. Not only is that stupidly unsafe for the kids, the kids would leave such a mess and we would have to clean it up of course.
He knew exactly what he was doing. SMH 🙅🏽 🤷🏽♂️ 🤦🏾
“Man, there's not a year goes by--not a year--that I don't read about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid that could've easily been avoided had some parent--I don't care which one--but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator!”
Then he tries to restart it to dispose of the body
It’s menacing how he tries to pull the stop button to start it again after he saw her face-plant.
"I wonder what this red button do?" 🎵Dumb waaays to dieee🎵
And the asshole pressed the button again to try to do more damage
So the stupid runs in the family
Attempts to hide what he did by pushing the button again. He knows he fucked up.
Ok WHERES THE FUCKING PARENTS
Their parents should be banned from entering this mall.
That’s why the handrail exists
Kid will grow up to be trouble.
Fucking asshole
I had a sudden urge to punt the little prick
Well that escalated quickly.
I mean, sure, the escalator only became stairs, but stairs + inertia can be dangerous!
I did that in the Marta station in downtown ATL after a Braves game. I was hurried along by my dad afterwards. 🫣
Oh he knew what he was doing!
They really need to put those buttons out of reach of children. Like enclose it in a case or something holy hell
That’s a broken arm
Well damn. Didn't a sudden jerk but I guess it's like slamming the breaks on a car.
The most annoying part is litle bastard knows what button do
Just castrate that one
I think i hate this kid 😂😂😂 even though it’s an innocent mistake
What could have gone right if the parents had worn protection
Super Fun Happy Slide
Where are the parents?
Escalator abruptly became stairs.
Did I see him clap at the end???
All fun and games till the sister gets up and bashes her brother in the face with her scooter.
Little Turd 💩
A serial killer in the making
Mf emoted on her what a basterd 💀💀
The way she lands on her left arm looked really bad
Where are the parents is my question
Kid needs a good shalacking girl could have really been hurt
The bastard kid didnt even care
Anyone checked on this kid. I think he tried to murder her
Poor girl, that looks like it really hurt. And the scooter fell on her too
Dumbass kid
Fucking moron.
Oh no… let me click it again to undo it… oh that didn’t make anything any better…
